Career › Career Switch From Sales To Marketing. How Possible? by laivwire(op): 12:13am On Mar 19, 2018
I have over 4 years experience in sales already although my passion lies strongly in market research, advertising, branding and the study of consumer behaviour.

I have garnered some knowledge of marketing through self-help, mini-courses in Lagos Business school and part of an MBA program I am running. My experience related to marketing has not been spot on as required to land a management role in the field.

What steps can I take to make the switch almost seamless as available brand management vacancies need thorough experience. Or do I have to regress and build a new career from scratch?

I'll like to know what certifications will be relevant. APCON? Nigerian Institute for marketers?

Your advice will be highly appreciated. Thanks

This is a touching thread.

The security man at my office has 4 kids with his wife, earns #20000 per month and yet the security firm that sourced him are owing him 3 months salary. Just negodu, how do you think he will survive huh

As bad as things are never let it weigh you down. There's someone out there going through a worse situation. Worrying, breaking down in tears etc won't add a grain of rice on your plate. Condition your mind for success, get a goal and train your mind to work on it.

A great lesson I learned of recent and I will share with you. Don't expect fast money, have a patient mindset from the beginning and that will sustain you till you become a success.

Has the car been involved in an accident before. I know someone who will be interested but I need total information first.

Romance › Re: Help! My Relationship Of 7 Years Is About To Sink by laivwire(m):
Lol, what else do you expect? Incase you don't know, you should today.

The moment you begin to build solid commitments towards your relationships, issues more often than not usually arise. I'm talking from the spiritual, physical, financial and emotional angle. Partners slip into their comfort mode and just let things go on believing they have nothing to worry about. That would be why your boyfriend will keep malice with you for over a month unlike back then when he would settle with you that night.

Worries of the financial demands, I'm working and you should care about that syndrome all do creep in. Village people see will start on your matter cheesy

If you want your relationship, you have to work to keep it. Forget all the breakup advice. 7 years is not beans. Having a committed partner or relationship these days sef isn't moimoi. Temptations will come and you must handle things together.

Be mature about it. You both should handle your sh*t accordingly.
Pets › Re: Diary Of Scofield: My African Grey Parrot by laivwire(m): 11:40am On Mar 08, 2018
Blackbelly:
As I reminiscence over the pain I have had to deal with when I lost hitler, snow white and dipstick my pet Newzealand rabbits, or ding-ding, my west african giant rat, or rex, my cross bred Alsatian dog...never at any point has the pain coursed through my being like the pain of losing scofield. I guess the reason for this is not because I was fond of him, but because he was especially fond of me.
I share your pains blackbelly. I stumbled on this thread just this morning and I followed it to the end. I owned a parrot toonand I totally relate to your experience. A lovely bird I must say. Mine wasn't as 'difficult' Scofield though. We bonded within a month. I carry her with my bare hands, let her roam freely within the house and the compound. (She hangs on the curtains or window burglary bars or her cage, walks into a room she desires whichever suits her). She whistles, coos etc Funny, as soon as she hears my car coming in from work, she leaps from her cage and starts walking out to the gate to come meet me squawking. Oh She loves to sit on my shoulder too. Once I stretch my hand, she leaps on my arm and walks her way up the elbow and settles on my shoulder, picks my hair and nibbles on my ear sometimes. She only fought with my girlfriend then. Lovely bird. Her name was Ella.

WHEN I LOST HER
I took a trip that extended into a couple days. When I returned, my Ella has walked out of her cage possibly in search of me and was no where to be found. Unfortunately she strayed out of the gate and disappeared! Salt to injury, we had a bad thunderstorm. I was mad and furious at my neighbors, I still feel they let it happen. My endless search yielded no fruit, I cried and later resigned to fate.

About a week later, a neighbour came knocking saying she saw my bird. Ella was dead in an uncompleted building cry. Decomposition had started but her feathers were still resplendent. She must have suffered the cold and starved to death. embarassed

I picked her carcass and buried her, gave all her items away and moved on.

LinkedIn actually presents such opportunities as I have witnessed in searches my profile came up on. The only problem is idle profiles do not get much exposure. Its not about updating alone, active contribution to posts, groups and causes also go a long way.
