onegentleguy: A CHOICE BETWEEN UPDC and UACN... part 2
In my view, the move to unbundle or possibly divest from some of its loss-making and not-so-profitable business segments is coming a bit late. ...though better late than never.
Just a few weeks ago, the group(UACN) gave up its majority stake position(51% before then) in their logistic business arm(MDS logistic) to the core investor(imperial logistics). ...taking their total stake to 57% and reducing that of UACN to 43%(an 8% swap). That arm has witnessed a difficult path to cost optimization(higher CoS) and dwindling revenue, despite the groups effort at curbing down OPEX. Worse still, is that vol has been on the downward trend for some quarters now. I think it will be best for UACN to consider given up more stake in that arm(logistic) of business to aid leverage. I also think the quick service restaurant arm of business should be divested from in totality. ...think UACN holds more than a 50% stake therein.
However, the move to give up of its entire stake in UPDC(64.2% as at H1, 2019) is the most STRATEGIC move to growth if u ask me. The increased revenue witnessed in Q2, 2019 by UPDC is not sustainable. ...especially when u consider the fact that any drive in sales has always been bitten down by high interest payments.
Good a thing, the group(UACN) is gradually recovering its mkt share in the Agric feeds business segment(H1, 2019 in view). ...while the packaged foods(UAC foods) and paint business segments are doing great.
At the current mkt price, I have no doubt in my mind that UACN holds in it, a lot of prospect. ...a lot of inherent VALUE !! Well appreciated bro ! |

[quote author=Mpeace post=81789265]Recall that they paid diamond bank share holders over 24billion naira(N1 per share) and still managed to pay their shareholders 25k per share. Sincerely speaking, they tried. They will not however give any satisfactory excuse for an interim dividend below 20k[/quot
They tried ..Hope they re not busy cooking their book to satisfy shareholders diamond takeover |

Chibuking81: They are still cooking their result. They want to always stay ahead of UBA, but UBA seems to be better than them. SEC should come with a new rule, that every company must pay 50% of their earning, with that cooking practice will reduce. Was surprise at uba result coming out before access ..Access notified the shareholders of their meeting long before uba Hope they won't come out with 10k div ..same they did for final yr div last yr paying peanut 25k[ if am correct ] while uba paid 65k I hope all is ok with them .. Sold 90% of my access ..after result will act |
