Demmzy15:Mend the grudge when an opposition keep insisting he is not wrong? Someone even apologized on his behalf and his reply was that "He was pissed off". Please, how would we mend such grudge? The truth is that some salafi are intolerant of other muslims' beliefs and I have witnessed such right here in my environment. Sorry if I offend you. yazach:When we were young, our alfas who taught us how to read arabic who were they following? Predecessors of course, but they don't carry it for head like person selling gala for traffic like youths of nowadays. People do it to the extent that their kunya is even salafi. |
Rilwayne001:What he failed to understand is that even within salafism, there are grades. I know of salafis, even here on NL that snapping pictures using digital camera is even haram and whosoever does that is going to hell. Not printing o, just snapping and uploading on social medias. Jabata is even an example. To those set of people, they are doing the right thing and you that you keep snapping pictures upandan is wrong and you fail to repent, it is straight to hell. I watched a video of a sheikh and an atheist and the atheist said there is no God and even predicted the end of the world. Do you know what the sheikh did? He got enraged to the extent that he removed his sandals and was about to hit the atheist. It took the preventer's intervention to stop the fight. Throughout the argument, the atheist kept his cool. Subhanallah! Imagine that https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82MpOotYG08 I don't know how we can solve differences with intolerance.. |
lexiconkabir:Lol, you are taking it so personal. I hope you know what happened when the Khaawarij broke away from mainstream Islam? What did Ali(ra) did? He simply called Abdullah Ibn Abass, the great scholar to debate and reason with them and you know what? Some got convinced and returned to mainstream Islam. Moreover, Rasul is the greatest example. lexiconkabir:I am not taking sides with them, I only followed your conversation. So far, none of the two brothers had called your opinions or stances on issues as NONSENSE. Once, brother Rilwayne001 simply said this Rilwayne001:https://www.nairaland.com/3368864/whats-islam-ruling-taking-photowatching Did he call your stance NONSENSE? That is simply what I am driving at, it is not a must you agree with people all the time, but you can simply solve your differences with dialogue using manners and not terming others' stance as NONSENSE. lexiconkabir:Be it literally or metaphorically, it is still not proper. Admit you are wrong brother and stop coming up with excuses. lexiconkabir:Funny, I was once a salafi like you years back. Same intolerant attitude I have towards the people that do not share the same ideology with me. In Salafism, you consider your own opinion to right and others to be wrong, then I tend to see people who follow different opinions as the ones dancing besides the pit of hell. What we were taught was that salafism is only the saved sect and other muslims who do not proclaim salafism will first enter hell before paradise while salafists will stroll into paradise. May Allah grants us understanding (Ameen) I have no hatred for you and what you proclaimed, I deal with all and sundry but only with the truthful and the honest ones. I don't see myself to be better than others because I hold to a certain set of beliefs which others don't adhere to. That is not my way. |
lexiconkabir:Imagine telling someone who proclaimed the same shahadatain with you to “hit his head against the wall” just because of different opinions between you. Then, what will you tell a non muslim that doesn’t share the kalimah with you? Put his head on the train track or jump off the building? So much tolerance! Wallah, this is a common trait amongst those who proclaimed salafism, very intolerant. May Allah assists us. Maybe because you have studied a few books, you have developed a “scholar” complex. You try as much as possible to force your opinions on others as if you can't be wrong. You are very intolerant to other views/opinions and you deemed them NONSENSE. Sooner or later, I hope you won’t tag those who disagree with you as deviants. The sciences of Islam are many and deep; the variety of opinions in fiqh are multiple. Don’t think you are always right because you follow a certain opinion of a scholar. And what is the essence of knowledge without manners? It is useless! @tintingz and Rilwayne001, Barakallahu Feeh brothers. May Allah increase you in patience. Despite those words, you didn't reply any and kept your cool. Ma sha Allah! That is maturity, may Allah bless you for that. |

atu1:You are not signing anything bro, just upload your result and you are good to go. atu1:Upload your year 2 result. |
Hkana:Lol, sorry bro that is common thing in Yoruba land though. @Bold, you are absolutely right. The truth is that most times, yoruba movies try to portray an Islamic setting but their actions like telling the person having a problem to take a bead out of a long dhikr bead and then the alfa instantly sees the person's problems or the alfa moving hands on sand jeopardize the Islamic setting they try to show the world and thereby misrepresenting the deen Hkana:Abiku means a child that keeps dying and then comes back to the world again to the same parents. Most times, parents recognize abikus by giving them marks when they bury them the first time and when such kids come back to the world the next time, the mark that was inflicted on the abiku then will still be visible and clearly seen on the new born baby. Akudaya on the other hand is a person that dies "untimely" and the same person is seen in another place in the same physique. The main difference between Abiku and Akudaya is that abiku is being given birth to after the first death while Akudayas are not. Hkana:Most Indian movies don't hide their beliefs, they display theirs freely. So do you believe Jinns could take the shape of a person and keep living with the person's family?? If you read my summary, I made mentioned of "Akudaya olooro" which means the rich Akudaya. A person dies and is seen in another place wealthier and richer than before. These Akudays disappear and vanish into thin air on sighting a known person as stories claim. Here, we can say that Jinns are at work. But the akudaya portrayed in the movie is the type that lives his family and died twice and buried in two graves. I found it hard to believe Jinns are responsible if these creatures do exist. |

A brother just raised up his hand and said "Sir, it is criteria for nikkah". The man was like "You won't understand". I just dey shake my head for the brother ni. |
In Peace, Not In Pieces! In Peace, Not In Pieces! With Peace should we settle our sectarian differences. Good debates and dialogues should be our way, Insults, vulgar words and name callings we throw away. In Peace, Not In Pieces! In Peace should we relate with kin and kiths; nephews and nieces. Spend time with them, go on holiday, Call them if you miss them, even if they are faraway. In Peace, Not In Pieces! In Peace should we live with people of different races, tribes and places. Whether you are from Nigeria, Oman or Norway, We all descended from Adam, who to this world, was our gateway. In Peace, Not In Pieces! In Peace should you dwell with your spouse in tranquility free of indifferences. May Allah makes you to wake up with each other smiles every day, And reunites you in paradise when comes the Judgment day. In Peace, Not In Pieces! In Peace should we live with the People of the Book and skeptics. If our Lord had so willed, none would be astray, Be thankful and grateful for the guidance which you don’t have to pay. In Peace, Not In Pieces! With only peace can we create a world devoid of violence and vices. This is my hope, dream and prayer for the world someday, But when the time shall be, Only Allah has the final say. Lanrexlan |
"Hands raised, tongues praised, hearts prayed, but the unfolding events never paid." Favorited! Jazakillah Khairan sister ![]() |
In as much that I partly agree with your submission, I think we should look at it from another point of view. Firstly, it is true having one’s trousers above the ankle NEVER connotes a very high Taqwa as most people try to portray nor does having the trousers below the ankles signifies pride and arrogance in all cases. But as my Imaam would say “We judge with what is apparent, the hidden belongs to Allah”. Sometimes, sisters using scarfs used to say “We have a noble heart as compared with all these khimarite sisters”. But how do we know that you have a noble heart from distance when your appearance looks like that of the Kardashians? It’s true and a fact that sometimes, appearances can be deceiving. A scarfite may have a noble heart and characters than some Niqobites sisters. Same can be said of brothers who practiced Nifsu sak and those who don’t practice it. But I say that it’s your inward appearance that should drive your outward looks. Secondly, we can’t know if the person is doing it of pride or not. Allah knows what is in the heart. Maybe some of his behaviours may give the impression of pride and arrogance, but yet we can’t ascertain if that trousers of his below the ankle is out of pride. Therefore, the safest is to make sincere your intention and wears the nifsu sak in order to clear any doubt. Thirdly, if you love someone you should strive to be like him. If truly one loves the Prophet (May Allah grants him), then one should strive to dress like him, not only in this but also essentially in character. Fourthly, the ways that some brothers hammer of nifsu sak sometimes makes it seems like that is the only Sunnah of the Prophet. I was discussing a brother one day and he said “I know of brothers who keep beards and practice nifsu sak yet they are worst in dealing with people.” The brother I was discussing is not practicing nifsu sak but if I should judge, he has good inter relationship with people. My reply is that “We shouldn’t use the fact that some brothers practice nifsu sak and of bad behaviours to judge others who practiced and have noble behaviours. Obviously, we should always strive to combine both together (i.e. the outward sunnahs and the inward sunnahs). Lastly, brothers should take a chill pill with “Fa fi Nar (is in the fire)” all the times. Sometimes, some people are scared away with all these “hell hell screaming”. We should invite people to Sunnah with our character and manners. I remembered when I wasn’t practicing nifsu sak, I was passing by and met a group of brothers. I extended the salaam but they looked at my trousers and realizing that it is below the ankles they didn’t respond! SubhanAllah! If I were to take theirs into consideration, then WALLAH I WILL NEVER PRACTICE IT. Please lets stop ostracizing people because of their looks. Another incident happened to my cousin and my uncle, they went looking for an accommodation and on getting to the intended house, and they were a bit relieved because the landlord was a Muslim. But when the Landlord came out and saw that they shaved their beards (not all, just a goatee if I should say) and having their trousers below their ankles, the man looked at them head to toe and said “There’s no accommodation because we only accommodate Muslims!” My cousin was like “But we are Muslims sir”. The man replied “We want only Ahl Sunnah and not people of innovation”. SubhanAllah!! Does this signifies that they people of bid’a? These are some of the sad incidents we witnessed. Why the segregation for crying out loud? Is that a means of correcting them or chasing them away from the deen? May Allah have mercy on our souls |
To cap it all, in order to remove this bigotry of tribalism and nationalism that has eaten deep into our faith, then we have to return to the sole purpose in which Allah said he created us diversely in the glorious Qur’an in “Surah Al Hujurat 49:13-O Mankind! We have created you from a male and a female, and made you into tribes and nations, THAT YOU MAY COME TO KNOW ONE ANOTHER. Verily, the most honorable of you with Allah is the one who has TAQWA (God’s Consciousness, piety). Verily, Allah is All-knowing, All-Aware”. That is to say, the diversity is for us to recognize and appreciate one another and this can be termed as UNIFICATION IN DIVERSIFICATION. When people speak a language unknown to you, you feel they are saying nonsense right? While it makes perfect sense to them. This is a sign your creator wants you to acknowledge and not this filth that will corrupt and blindfold your reasoning. Learn new languages and cultures of different tribes and nations if possible, as Science has told us that learning new things will enhance the brain. Yoruba language alone has hundred of dialects. My first time hearing Akure’s Yoruba dialect was epic. Though I am a Yoruba yet I became lost they were speaking their own dialect. Isn't it amazing and thought-provoking that you find it hard to understand what a group of people are saying while they are communicating in the best of their manners?! I would love to end this write-up with a saying of the greatest man that ever walked the surface of the earth, Muhammad (Peace and blessings be upon him), he said “Whosoever fights under a banner of folly, supporting tribalism or getting angry for the sake of tribalism, he dies in a state of ignorance (Sunan Ibn Majah, Book 36, Hadith 4083). Jubair ibn Mut’im reported:The Messenger of Allah(peace and blessings be upon him, said):He is not one of us who calls to tribalism. He is not one of us who fights for the sake of tribalism. He is not one of us who dies following the way of tribalism. [Sunan Abu Dawud,Hadith Number 5102] Be wise and shun tribalism! |
It would have been a little bit ‘better’ if this filth has been left to the political scene but this is not case as it has crept into our deen! SubhanAllah! I read of lately of some people from countries in Asia and the gulf blaming Muslims in Africa for misfortunes befalling the Ummah. Where is our Imaan? Have we forgotten that whatever befalls the Ummah is because of what man has sent forth and Allah’s will (Surah Al Anfal 8; 51, Surah Al Hajj 22; 10 Surah Ar Room 30; 36)?? May Allah have mercy on our souls (Ameen). Coming down to the tribal level, it is the same as we have seen some people claiming that a certain tribe are better Muslims than another tribe. Is Taqwa now based on tribe or your personal relationship with Allah? Some even claimed they can’t offer their prayers in a certain mosque because it belongs to a certain tribe. Let me remind you of the hadith of our Prophet that was “Narrated on the authority of Abu Dharr that the Prophet says ‘Whenever the time of prayer comes upon, offer the prayer for all the earth is places of prostration for you”. Then why the discrimination when there is no language barrier in our mosques? Our homes and families are not left out of this filth as we’ve seen some parents advocating that their wards must marry from their tribe or nothing else. Has tribe becomes the fundamental criteria in Nikkah? The Prophet (Upon him be blessings) was reported to have said that “If a man whose practice of the deen satisfies you, asks for your daughter in marriage, you should marry them; otherwise there would be corruption on earth” (Jamiat At Tirmidhi). The Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) told us to better to better go for the deen in that famous hadith that says “A man should marry for 4 reasons; Beauty, Lineage, Wealth and Deen, marry the religious one or you become losers (Saheeh Al Bukhari Book 67, Hadith 28)”. This reminded me of a brother I know of who was denied Nikkah just because of tribe. This brother proposed to the sister and she accepted but on getting to the parents’ house and while discussing, the question was posed to him “Which state are you from?” The brother calmly replied and said the name of his state of origin. The next statement that his in-laws to be would say was “You can’t marry our daughter because you are from so and so state”. The brother was dumbfounded! Is this a genuine reason? Does his state defines who he is or his level of Taqwa? SubhanAllah!!! This is among the evils of our society. The Prophet was a perfect example in inter-tribal marriages as he married women from different tribes. |

The modern world of today consists of hundreds of countries and millions of tribes with different languages, cultures and skin colors and this should not come as a surprise to us as Allah, our creator has said this diversity is a sign from Him(Surah Ar Room 30:22). A sign from our creator for us to think and ponder deeply on our different tongues with different tribes, that there is nobody capable of doing this except the creator himself. But are we really reflecting on this sign from our Rabb? But it is quite sad and disheartening today that the beautiful reason for this diversification is almost lost in our societies due to the filth of tribalism and nationalism. Daily basis on social media and internet platforms, we found our youths engaging in tribal ‘e-wars’ with one another. Whenever a news surfaces that a person or a group of people was involved in some certain vices in the society like duping, rape, money laundering, money ritual, money embezzlement etc, what we see is people checking names or tribes, pointing fingers and saying ‘As expected, such tribe is well known for this certain vice’ or ‘They are at it again, thank God I am not from such tribe’, and even here on Nairaland, they have coined a name for themselves and tagged themselves “Name Checkers Association of Nigeria (NCAN). Whenever any of the cited news example above occurs, what we see is that these set of people are checking names and the tribe such a culprit comes from and they take pride in it and the most disheartening thing is that our Muslim youths aren’t left out of this filth. But they have forgotten that vices are NEVER the monopoly of any tribe or nation, evil men with bad characters spread across all nations and tribes. Our so-called leaders or politicians are not left out of this mess of tribalism. During the period of electing people into various offices and they, quite knowing that a candidate is not qualified and capable of a position, they will still go ahead to aid his incompetence saying ‘He is from our tribe, let our son do it’. Even when there’s another person that is more competent than their so acclaimed son? The Prophet (Peace upon him and his household) was reported to have said on the “Authority of Abbad bin Kathir Ash-Shami narrated a woman among them, called Fasilah, that she heard her father says ‘I asked the Prophet (Upon him be peace); O Messenger of Allah, is it tribalism if a man loves his people? He replied: “No, rather tribalism is when a man helps his people to do wrong” (Sunan Ibn Majah, Book 36, Hadith 4084). That is to say, knowing the incompetence of a person and still aiding him is tribalism and what do you expect from such leadership except mismanagement, misguidance and chaos. |
Empiree:Watch the Yoruba film here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4S7zmzzJEyA The star acctor is your friend "Won ni Jimoh lor'uko yin? As a customs officer, he was with his other colleagues that dreadful day at the checkpoint when they sighted a light truck coming towards them with full speed. The road has already been blocked using planks and the likes. They shouted “Stop! Stop!”, but the light truck just destroyed the whole barricade they used to block the road. The next thing they saw were tens of vehicles that followed and Shina Rambo was sitting on the roof of an open/close roof-type of a vehicle. On his neck was a living tortoise But a newly recruited hausa man as he narrated, didn’t know who Shina Rambo was. He was trying to shoot those who were going against rules and for not stopping the vehicle when stopped using his cork and shoot rifle. But these robbers were loaded with sophisticated weapons. The poor man was shot multiple times before he could even take a shot . Dad said they shot sporadically into the air more than 30 minutes in order to scare the officers and make sure all those vehicles had passed. When they had gone, the officers came out of the bush only to find their colleague in a pool of blood. Dad said that more than 30 bullets were removed from the man. He was shot mercilessly. Poor man! |
