iamoyindamola: We have Christians also My father's mother was a Christian, prayer warrior sef she will take us to ECWA church I doubt such churches still exist Before I got married, my parents made me understand to pick my choice either Muslim or Christian they don't have issues with it It's common in the SW. My friend a practicing muslim with an Alhaji and Alhaja as parent just married a white garment lady. |

Donjazet2: Again I say this, the yorubas have to be studied when it comes to this issue of religious tolerance. I don't recall ever hearing of any crises of religious making in the west. Any crises that involves bloodshed in anyway is most likely political in nature.
So far do you think that religion will play any factor in Yorubaland in these forthcoming elections? Will some yoruba Christians be pissed about the Moslem-moslem ticket? It's what I was trying to tell you then. Most families in the SW have both religion among then. Yorubas that will vote against Tinubu wont be because of muslim - muslim ticket. |

Donjazet2: Wow!! It really has to be said, you guys are really the most liberal of Muslims. I doubt the way you yorubas practice Islam is the same anywhere else in the world. Was there any blowback whatsoever to you guys conversion? No. My dad has no problems whatsoever with whatever religion we chose to practice as long as when it's time for Ileya we will turn up and celebrate with him. When we talk on the phone and he wants to pray for me, he ends it with in Jesus name. |

Donjazet2: Larride, are you Christian or Muslim? Just curious. I am a Christian. I come from both side though. My Dad is a Muslim while Mum is Christian. Started out as a muslim till around 6 when I converted fully to Christianity. Infact out of all my dad's kids, just 3 still remain as Muslim. |

nihilistjnr: The pertinent part of the quote is this:
He didnt shy away from his belief that blasphemers against his religion deserve the death penalty. However he argues that he only supports the penalty as handed out by the Sharia Court following a judicial trial. Exactly. |

ShaqFu: when did the laws of islam become the law of the federal republic of Nigeria? Deborah wasn't tried under any law or court. She was killed by a mob doing jungle justice. |

DissTroy: I've read of 'amala turning' as concept on this board. What I didn't know was that you are its proponent. Again that someone believe in the punishment for blasphemy according to the laws that guide their belief doesn't mean the person support jungle justice. According to Sharia Law that the North practice, the alleged blasphemers will be tried at the court (Sharia Court) and if the person is proven guilty, that's when the punishments comes into effect not when some errant mob decided to take matters their own hands. That's jungle justice. The same thing with the Aluu 4 who were burnt to death because of alleged stealing. |

DissTroy:
But the penalty for blasphemy according to Islam is not jungle justice or is it? Someone can support the penalty for blasphemy according to the tenets of their believe and still be against jungle justice irrespective of why the mob carried it out. They are not mutually exclusive. |

PDPGuy: I disagree. When they play against the smaller teams (bar Nigeria, Ghana, Egypt, Senegal), they would have most of the possession cos their opponents will most likely park the bus They are playing expansive football against Portugal like this. That's like playing against the big teams in Africa. Will they be able to play like this against Nigeria, Egypt, Algeria, Senegal, Mali and the likes? |
