one the reasons why I said suffering in Nigeria is a pandemic disease that has no solution until we change our mentality to stop the cause...how much is less than 4m someone cannot afford at 23 years is it too much to have 10m in your acct at the age of 23 becos the country itself is in mess...graduates get paid 100k a month and we start jumping up as if we av gotten a job in NNPC..we deserve more than that...less hardworking people abroad earn better than very hard working people in Nigeria that earn peanuts like 60k a month something that cannot even buy original phone.. The fact that we laud everyday achievements such as this when done by female shows how little we expect from them. Who was supposed to get the ride for her?
What is her income? huh How much do fashion stylists earn per quarter or per year? At 23 or 24, how long has she been doing the job? And how was she able to save up for the car? shocked That ride is at least 2.5 million to 3 million. Such questions come up, when people weigh the facts and there are so many gaps in the story. We need more facts before we can applaud her ingenuity. If someone like Chimamanda Adichie or Asisat Oshoala bought such a car, believe me..few people would bat an eyelid, because their sources of income are well known, and quite visible for everyone to see.

It feels so nice seeing that Nigerian Girls are beginning to realise, its not all about sleeping with Men and Sugar Daddies for money ,but its about seeing their selves as a personality that needs to make something useful of themselves, Lamaar_ (not her real name) is a perfect Example of such kind of Women.

Lamaar is a Fashion Stylist and Entrepreneur, she realised she could do just good making unique designs of anything catchy! Recently she bought her self a brand new car as she turned 24yrs old.

Unlike some girls that go about sleeping with men for quick cash…Lamaar sits in her cupid and make people wear her outfits and its really paying her real good, the big question is

“Do we have Such Independent Women? Apart from Celebrities, Are Nigerian Ladies ready to learn real way of making money and becoming their own boss?”

As part of plans to transform Marina and the Onikan region into a hub for tourism and recreational activity, Lagos State will be remodelling the John K (JK) Randle Arcade into a recreation/tourism centre dubbed the JK Randle
Centre for Yoruba Culture and History.
After being demolished in Q3:2016, the Lagos State Government announced the renovation of the centre as well as the development of museums, cultural theatres and heritage centres under the tourism segment of the proposed
budget.
Lagos based architects Si.Sa established their concept for the design of the property on the idea of liberation; the weave as an inconspicuous but visible facet of Yoruba existence and the South West, which is made up of forests and plains.
Construction Kaiser Limited (CKL), who have significant experience in the development of bank branches and industrial schemes, were appointed as the main contractor project in
September 2017. The centre is located at the loop of the Onikan roundabout and covers an area of
approximately 11,000 square meters.

In fact, Aig was the MD of Access bank until 2013, when he then handed over to Wigwe. His shares in the bank are still intact. Both Wigwe and Aig-Imoukhuede jointly own controlling shares in the bank. Is Aig an Igbo man? huh So how can you attribute the rise & growth of Access Bank solely to Wigwe, and call it an Igbo bank? I know you went to school, so you should be able to spot the difference. undecided

Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede is a Nigerian banker, entrepreneur, investor and philanthropist. After qualifying as a lawyer, Aig joined Continental Merchant Bank (Chase Nigeria) followed by Prime Merchant Bank and moved to Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) in 1991 where he remained for 11 years, being appointed Executive Director in 2000.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Cwv_lAQWgAUaYbi.jpg

He resigned from GTB in 2002, and with his business partner Herbert Wigwe, arranged the financing and acquisition of Access Bank plc. During his tenure the bank acquired Intercontinental Bank, a large but failing Nigerian bank. Standard & Poors upgraded the bank's credit rating in September 2013, and Access Bank became the fifth largest bank operating in Nigeria.

In December 2013 Aig voluntary retired as CEO, handing over to his successor Wigwe. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aigboje_Aig-Imoukhuede
As for Union bank, it cannot be regarded as an Igbo bank by any stretch of the imagination. Union Bank used to be known as Barclays bank, before it became Union Bank.

https://nigerianpilot.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/unionbank-logo.jpg

Union Bank of Nigeria’s rich history can be traced to 1917 when it was first established as Colonial Bank. In 1925 the bank became known as Barclays Bank DCO (Dominion, Colonial and Overseas) resulting from its acquisition by Barclays Bank. Following Nigeria’s independence and the enactment of the Companies Act of 1968, the bank was incorporated as Barclays Bank of Nigeria Limited (BBNL, est. 1969).

Between 1971 and 1979, the bank went through a series of changes including its listing on the NSE and share acquisitions/transfers driven by the Nigerian Enterprises Promotion Acts (1972 and 1977); this resulted in its evolution into a new wholly Nigerian-owned entity. To reflect the new ownership structure, and in compliance with the Companies and Allied Matters Act of 1990, it assumed the name Union Bank of Nigeria Plc. (UBN “the Bank” or “Union Bank”).

In 1993, in line with its privatisation/commercialisation drive, the Federal Government divested by selling its controlling shares (51.67%) to private investors. Thus, Union Bank became fully owned by Nigerian citizens and organizations all within the private sector. During the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) banking sector consolidation policy, Union Bank of Nigeria Plc acquired the former Universal Trust Bank Plc and Broad Bank Ltd, and absorbed its one-time subsidiary, Union Merchant Bank Ltd.

Following the banking crisis in 2009 and the intervention of the CBN via Asset Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON), the bank was recapitalized in 2012 with an injection of $500 million by Union Global Partners Limited (UGPL), a consortium of local and international investors. UGPL acquired 65% of the bank’s shareholding and in the last quarter of 2014, AMCON’s remaining 20% stake in the bank was acquired by Atlas Mara. https://www.unionbankng.com/who-we-are/our-history/

LadyGoddiva:
I cannot even believe the comments I’m reading here. Like are you fuckiñg shitting me?? Even from fellow ladies too?
Things is, Nigerians are too close minded and backward thinking. A lot of things can constitute as rape. It’s not only when a random guy abducts you and forcefully has sex with you while you scream and fight back can be considered as rape. The basic thing that defines rape is CONSENT! Whether she was wearing only her panties in the man’s bed, even if she was twerking naked for him, as long as she said NO, then he had no right to try and perform any sexual activities on her.
And since when did agreeing to cuddle him automatically imply consent to have sex with him? He even went on to give her orals and strip her. Thing is, even if she may not have fought back, bottom line is, she didn’t want sex to happen. And he went on and did what he wanted anyway. That’s a more subtle kind of rape.
Nigerians really need reonrientation of their mindset when it comes to the issue of rape. I’m seeing a lot of bs comments like “why would she go to a guy’s house when it’s not her boyfriend” and “why would she wear only shorts in his bed and why would she sleep on the Same bed with him?” The thing is, irrespective of the circumstance surrounding the story, she didn’t give her consent and the man had sex with her against her wish. It wasn’t consensual sex thus, it can be classified as rape. Too bad she’s just speaking up now.
She should just have kicked him in the balls when he started his shenanigans. That would have fixed the whole thing. Stupid guy...

So I don't know why y'all are suprised. She seems like a deeply unhappy person trying to fit in and fill the emptiness with possessions. Maje may or may not have done her wrong but the idea of the book was tacky.
There was absolutely nothing wrong with her writing a book. It was her own way of seeking closure, and getting the matter off her chest. For a lot of people, writing is seen as a form of therapy. sad
