I read the entire story - you should read it again to confirm. The guy identifies himself as Bini. And as such is under the lordship of his king the Oba of Bini. Therefore, if the Oba of Bini does not want to gba bo de - he should call him to order.
Anybody can call himself anything he likes. undecided I can call myself Prince Charles of England, if I like. Does that make me the heir to the throne of England? Ajayi-Bembe is just seeking some form of relevance. The guy is not under the lordship of the Omo n'Oba. He is not one of the subjects of the Oba, and has not been acknowledged as such. So why should the Oba put his mouth into something so petty? Did the Oba send him on any assignment? Chai!! shocked

I partly blame the internet. Its only because of cheap data, some Bini villager will sit in his thatched hut to claim land far removed from his village in the heartland of Yoruba kingdom. The same cheap data will make an Ipob pig in his 2 by 4 provision shop in the middle of potorpotor region saying Lagos is no man's land. It will be easier for 10 million camels and 100 million elephants to pass through the eye of a needle at the same time than for the ownership of a square inch of Lagos - the Jewel of Yoruba land- to be credibly questioned.
Oh lawd! cheesy No Bini villager laid claim to Lagos. It was Ajayi-Bembe, a Lagos Yoruba indigene that started this controversy. And the IPOB/Igbo keyboard warriors infected it with their petty propaganda, as usual! shocked

Then tell the Oba to call his lousy dogs to order. By keeping quiet he is encouraging a rift between two great civilizations that have respected each other for thousands of years. If he continues to keep quiet he will gba bo de.
Did you read the entire story from the beginning? huh The person who started this controversy was Ajayi-Bembe, a Lagos Yoruba indigene. He is not an emissary of the Oba of Benin, neither was he sent on such a nefarious errand by the Oba!

If dem born the Oba of Bini well let him come out and say nonsense. cheesy cheesy No amount of propaganda can change reality. If you like continue to lie from now till eternity. It will not change anything. Lagos and Yorubas are eternally linked. And like the British writer puts it: Lagos is the jewel of the Yoruba people. Case closed.
Sir, please kindly do not disrespect the Oba of Benin. The Benin royal stool is an ancient, revered institution. Thank you.

What you wrote is pure Yoruba revisionism.
Don't just swallow whatever new generation lies given to you without listening to other views - that has :Dbeen the major problem of Yoruba Osun parasites.
Let me hint you a bit:
Do you know that about 50 percent of the people you presently refer to as Yoruba in SW now were never known as Yoruba and never had any ethnic link with the Yorubas until recently?
Do you know that those people had their own distinct language, culture, etc, completely different from the core Yorubas?
Look at the physical attributes of the present day Yorubas, do you notice any thing that is not common with other homogeneous ethnic groups like the Hausas, Fulanis, Ijaws etc?
What happened? What does that possibly tell you?
Hehehe....the same way 50% of the people in Onitsha were Bini? cheesy

That's not true. The Binis only came to Lagos Island in a second wave migration. They met Yoruba's there who owned and were ruling the place like the Bajulaiye's, Onikoyi's and ko. They took over for a short while and were subsequently overthrown. Lagos is far bigger than Lagos island, which does not even include ikeja, Ikoyi, Lekki or Ikorodu

You clearly didn't read the post the other day, didn't you see were the State government and the oba were all saying they won't allow ijaw have their own king?.

you talked calmly here, even providing proof, but you couldn't even see reason to support the ijaws that day, my point is that u are been sectional.

For sure I know Edo has no business in Lagos, they just wanna be relevant.

grin happy Sunday bro
Oga, go back and read through that entire thread, very carefully. sad Chieftaincy affairs and traditional titles are gazzetted by state govt, with support of the Chairman of Traditional Rulers Council, within the state. Even the staff of office is presented to newly crowned monarchs by either the state governor, his representative or Chairman of the Traditional Rulers Council.

Did your Ijaw people in Edo go through the process of gazetting the title and following the process to get it ratified by the state? No. sad That was my question in that thread. undecided They just woke up one morning and decided to crown a king for themselves, without recourse to proper law and order. A kingship that had not even been in existence for over 50 years. On top of that, the Bini had taken the matter up to Supreme court and won. So you expect the state govt to ignore the Supreme Court ruling and crown your Ijaw monarch? huh

What is sectional about my stand on that?

You should have just admitted you did not have the answer to my question. What you were referring to didn't have the answer.

The Idejo families are the owner of Lagos lands, simple as that.
I didn't say I do not have the answer to your question. sad What I asked you to do, was to conduct independent studies and some research, in order to arrive at the answers, on your own.

Any answer I give you, would still be queried by you. undecided So why not seek enlightenment on your own? And your question was about the ancestry of kings that succeeded King Ado in Lagos. It was not about those who were the original land owners of Lagos.

lol. grin
Guy, go back through all my posts, before you jump to conclusions. My question on that thread was to ask if proper processses were followed before the Ijaw people decided to crown a monarch. Secondly, there were court judgements to validate the Bini claim. So what is your point? huh

Efewestern:
I hail oo.

you were the supporting Edo the other day when they were laying claim to ijaw land, now here u are saying otherwise.

Not anymore but they did before right? I believe I acknowledged this bit in the post you quoted so I don't know what makes you feel I need to read up.

However, the question still remains, from the time of King Ado l, the Benin prince, the ancestry of the royal families of Lagos Island are Benin, aren't they?
You are still repeating the same question, which I told you to go back and conduct some studies to get answered. Are you allergic to research?
Culture › Re: Bini Are Original Owners Of Lagos, Not Yoruba – Layi Ajayi-Bembe by laudate: 12:37pm On Nov 19, 2017

You are dodging my question.

There was no royalty before King Ado, not even a palace. The birth of the royalty of Lagos Island was from King Ado and since he conquered the place and name it Eko, makes all who succeed him his descendants. I also know that deceased Lagos Kings were sent to Benin to be buried and paid royalty to Benin but that stopped after sometime.

Now since its the royal families that owns the land and are the authority over the land, doesn't that mean Benin are by the conquest and Ado, owners of Lagos?
Not anymore. Go back and read up on the history of Logos.

This Ajayi-Bembe claiming to be a Benin man...where is his ancestral family quarters in Benin? Where is his Igiogbe in Benin?
