PierreDeFermath: I know many people that do some of those businesses you listed above in Lagos but doing shady stuffs and rituals below. some people make money legit o but a lot of people just use legit biz to cover up and do dark stuff underneath. mind you, every ritualist is a business man cos they have what they use to cover up,
Oga, what is the proportion of people doing shady stuff under their legitimate business? How many do you know? There are over 15 million people in Lagos. Is it all of them doing shady dark stuff underneath their legit business? Why do you like exaggerating like this? And how come all the people you know in Lagos are doing dark stuff underneath their legit business?? There is a proverb that says: "Show me your friends, and I will show you who you are!" Why don't you think before you talk??
2shure: brand new don turn accidented panel beater don hammer for this december why female go dey do need for speed for lagos bridge tho road filled with potholes top speed they kill quick lost control over the steering wheeling fact o she don finally cast dah toyota land cruiser
That bridge is one of the best in Lagos. There is no single pothole on that particular Lekki-Ikoyi bridge.
Chascop: The RRS or whatever arrived immediately ; probably because she's a rich lady or married to a politician.
special treatment.
Nope. There is always an RRS car parked permanently at both ends of that bridge 24x7. So responding within a short span of time, would not have been a problem.
If you park your vehicle on any part of Lekki-Ikoyi bridge (or any bridge for that matter in Lagos), you cant miss LASTMA, RRS, RegularPolice or even commercial towing vehicles. 15min max.
Take it or leave it.
On 3MB, the RRS, would even help safely protect your vehicle from being crashed into by other oncoming motorists. Lagos is really Evolving into a bigger city.
If I reply this Op from the land of gully erosion where the 2 cesspits of Aba and Onitsha are located now, he will rush to the MODs again for them to ban me.
Why are Igbos obsessed with OUR Lagos? Dem use Lagos swear for u na. Yoruba i now the official language of Lagos State, Deal with it!!!
Oh no, stop it!! E don do! Una no go take laugh kill person for here...!
danieljoel759: Not everybody can boast of having a nice time with their dads, but this little girl does, he taught her how to drive in the busy road, I'm sure she won't forget this in a 100 years see video
Wubbish!! How can he be putting the girl on his laps, and teaching her to drive on a busy road??! At what age? If another car rams into them, or if they hit another vehicle now in error, and one of them gets injured, they will say the witches from their father's village followed them into the city, or that someone envious of their success used 'jazz on them, instead of attributing it to their carelessness and risky behaviour. Nansense!! What kind of a father endangers his daughter's life like this?
PierreDeFermath: op,I'm Yoruba but I am not always biased. I don't know about other Yoruba States than Lagos and Kwara. But I can say that poverty is more prevalent in Lagos than any state in Nigeria, also, the standard of living is high and most people that earn averagely spend it,they live from hand to mouth, the poor and destitute live in slums, there is a saying in Yoruba which says "Owo Eko,Eko lon gbe" which means that any money you make in Lagos lives at Lagos, you can't have savings, make money in Lagos and bring the money down to your village, you would spend it at Lagos. a lot of people that are balling at Lagos are into rituals, crime, etc. about Kwara,Kwara is still easier to live in than Lagos because the standard of living is low and you live in decent apartments . the highest apartments for rent in Kwara is around 500k per apartment or low per year in GRA which is the same area people like Saraki,Tunde Idiagbon,Adisa,Shiaba Lafiaji and many leaders in Ilorin live. I lived in GRA for 4 years when I was in secondary school and it's a nice area and you can even rent a room for around 100k or lower per year. There are many places in Ilorin that are as nice too. there is no segregation like it is in Lagos, even my mechanic lives in GRA,its not like some over hyped places in Lagos like Banana island where only a rich few can live in. Lagos has too many poor and destitute people and has many rich people as well
Oga, how many states have you lived in apart from Lagos and Kwara that led you to conclude that "poverty is more prevalent in Lagos than any state in Nigeria?" Have you lived in Kogi, Benue, Zamfara or Sokoto, before? Tell us, o! Before you can come to that conclusion that poverty is more in Lagos than any of the other 36 states in Nigeria, you must have lived in many different places within the country.
You also said: "a lot of people that are balling at Lagos are into rituals, crime, etc". How many people exactly do you know in Lagos that are into crime?? Lagos has over 15 million people residing within the state, so did you do a survey to arrive at this conclusion? I do not deny that there are criminal elements in Lagos. Heck, everyone cannot be a saint! But I still know many straight forward businessmen who do clean legit business, from catering supplies to construction, real estate, engineering, Infotech consultancy, diesel sales, clothes designing, auto garage maintenance, corporate training, agro-allied processing, fish farming etc., and are earning a successful living from it. So please speak for yourself, o! If you only know fraudsters and ritual killers, then you need to check yourself to ask why this is so.
Aru..... #spits# Chimo!! Obviously, i profmiganigal must have been fvcking he-goats?! Isn't that why am accusing others of doing so?
profmiganigal: Again, you i just told u exactly what you am calling myself 'a dirty illiterate'. The money spent on my fees was wasted.... collecting a refund from my teachers. I failed to learn anything useful in the schools i attended.
Chimo!! Obviously, you must have been fvcking he-goats?! Isn't that why you are accusing others of doing so? Eeyah... and you had to bring your dad into this matter. What a pity. May God console him for having a son like you who lacks a brain.

God willing, the zoo called Nigeria muust cease to exist one day......
A name born out of fornication from two white wiitches and wizard after a hot f^ck
Thank God, you finally gave us a full description of what kind of person you are, by labelling yourself as a 'hausa fulani terrorist.' And since you mentioned ' two white wiitches and wizard', it appears they are the ones that gave birth to you, not so? And since you called Nigeria a zoo, you must be one of the animals living inside it, right?
you can as well post my family picx here if you can but if you don't post my family picx here, you will d1e before the week ends
amen
Nansense!! Who gave you the right to threaten anybody? Even the owner of nairaland would not do such a thing. All those death wishes will go straight back to you, the sender! By force, by fire!!
fellowman: Igbos are located in the south south region of Nigeria.
I just wonder who divided this states, and how you can call a state a south south state but it's in the south East (cross river) and also how you can call a state in the south East a middle belt state (Benue)
for a long time I've been thinking that the people who do this are trying to deceive us.
how do you call a state a south Eastern state but that state is bothered by another state that is in the south East.
by looking at that map the south Eastern state should be benefiting from south south NDDC because they are in the south-south. Yes igbos are in the south south.
Now lest go to the West.
how can Kwarra be in the west but it's called a northern state or a "north Central"
it's time we start asking ourselves this questions. Someone is playing tricks on us
How on earth can you say Benue should have been called a Southeast state? What brand of kai-kai have you been drinking?
Exclusive32: what we are arguing about is different from your acclaim fake journal. That was then, when it was created. yea, I m living in denial but you are living in fault assertion. no such place like that in bayelsa, stop this lie. By the way, where are you from.
Exclusive32: I if I may no, which village do you saw the bamboo house? Because I know you are fun of disseminating bogus lies with hubris.
Guy, I realise that you do not like the truth. I pasted an excerpt which was written by eminent Ijaw scholars in a renowned journal for you, and you are still denying it?? Haba! As for the villages where we saw the bamboo houses, it was not just one. And we got there by speedboat, as there were no roads. Anyway, since you want to believe that every Bayelsan is rich, and living in a mansion, let me leave you to do so, since it makes you happy.
Exclusive32: you don't no what you are talking about, sir. This is your only point of ya argument , that s why you are still holding on to it. you have never been to any village in bayelsa, may be you just heard about the terrain. Standard of living over here is 100+ most of those poor people living in lag. there is no such bamboo house in bayelsa. stop such lie, my dear.
Stop living in denial. Bamboo houses that I saw with my very own two eyes, when we went to install telecom masts inside the creeks of Bayelsa? Why are you persisting in denying the facts and telling lies??
And who told you most of the poor Bayelsa people are living in Lagos?
Yenegoa as a State Capital. With the creation of Bayelsa State on 1st October 1996, Yenegoa was chosen as the capital of the new State. A military administrator was appointed to oversee the affairs of the State. On arrival, the young Phillip Ayeni was ushered into the local government chairman’s residence that was to serve as his official residence and office. Access to his office and residential quarters was even difficult because the road connecting it was in a horrible state of repair. The picture of the new State capital was a summary of the aged long rejection and marginalization which this region of the Niger Delta had suffered from the Nigerian State despite its contribution to the economy of the nation.
It is an area very rich in oil deposit, but spatially backward in terms of infrastructural development. The history of poverty was clearly written on the faces of the natives that lined up the only road to welcome the military administrator to the new State capital. Beyond Yenegoa are hamlets and villages scattered across the creeks and swamps.
The Challenges of the New State Capital. On assumption of office, the state government did not need anyone to announce to it that the major task confronting it was to develop a befitting State capital out of Yenegoa, and the surrounding villages lying forlorn in the creeks. These are villages neglected by the Nigerian State for a long time, but which now share in the status of oil rich State capital.
The circumstance of her geography was another challenge to spatial development that the government knew it had to contend with. In its eighteen years of existence, several billions of naira had entered into the coffers of successive governments or administrations meant for development of the state. Each administration from that of Chief Diepriye Alamieyesigha to the present government of Hon. Seriake Dickson, the main challenge has been the development of a model capital city for Bayelsa State.
At the embryonic stage, there was the absence of spatial plan to control physical development..... Home ownership in the city is a herculean task, because of its difficult geographical terrain (most of the land are lying under water). Raising a standard physical structure in the city is more expensive, when compared with what obtains in some other cities in Nigeria. Where they exist, they are hardly adequate for the household population in that dwelling unit.
Along the Mbiama road, that gives access into the city, derelict houses form walls on both sides thus giving the city a picture of decay. Physical development control tool is very weak in the city. Most buildings were erected without approval from the relevant authorities. The natives are not ready to be subjected to the process of plan preparation and approval. The practice is alien to them, and the financial involvement is not something they are ready to accommodate. Attempts to force them to comply with the existing building regulations, had often receive unfriendly reaction.... http://www.iiste.org/Journals/index.php/DCS/article/viewFile/20929/21173
Oga080666419419: BUT YOU JUST SAID YOU AREN'T A YORUBA BUT WHY ADDING WE WHEN YOU ABOUT YORUBAS.
KEEP LYING
Yes, I said your people beg for funds outside the gates of our churches, because I attend RCCG church in Lagos, and a number of your people come to the gate of the church to beg for money for food and transport every Sunday. When you ask them why, they tell you that the person they stayed with in Lagos kicked them out, or they lost their jobs. I just pointed it out. Where is the lie in what I said? Is anything wrong with that?
AnambraDota: If Obosi were to be in Lagos it will be rated alongside Magodo and other highbrow areas but in Anambra its just a regular neighborhood developing, people still have clean air and houses are well ventilated. Though borehole are used, it's better than most places in Lagos except Lekki.
You cannot make a well-balanced informed assessment of the situation, because we know you were raised in the slums.
Sprumbabafather: The yorubaman living near me here is so poor that he begs for a living. He is sophisticated in poverty .
Just one? Haba, you fall my hand, o! Do you know how many of your people that Femi Otedola, Mike Adenuga, Oba Otudeko, Dewale Tinubu, Folorunsho Alakija and other such notable Yoruba people feed on a daily basis? Do you know how many of your people beg for funds to eat outside the gates of our churches, every Sunday?
Exclusive32: nop, sir. I have been to every local government of yenagoa, I have never seen such. if you talk about the fishing port, I will totally agree with you but in community, no such. The only thing that is bereave in the communities are the basic amenities. No bamboo permanent living house over here.
Oga, I have been to the villages, swamps as well as creeks in Bayelsa, and I saw mud houses and bamboo houses. Maybe you have not visited those areas. When Yenagoa was made a state capital in 1996, it looked like a glorified village. But things have now improved. However, there are still villages and creek settlements that lack standard housing for their residents. I have worked extensively in the Niger-Delta, including different parts of Bayelsa, so I know what I am talking about.
Exclusive32: stop this lie because I no one when I see it. there is no place like that in bayelsa. no one living in Bambo house. We are well place in term of living. I no you will rescindle with lies. So are you telling me that what we normally saw in Lagos are all lies, building school with bamboo on the water? From yenagoa to ogbia no place like that, from ogbia to nembe and from nembe to brass no place like that, even from yenagoa to southern ijaw no place like that . I will implode you to stop this your earning cheap point lie. I no you can't win this fight. showing Yoruba fact is like sending them on a suicide mission.
No sir, you are the one telling lies and dressing it up to look like the truth. You think Yenagoa the capital, represents the whole of Bayelsa? Guy, only those who have never been to the creeks of Bayelsa can believe this story you posted here. And for your information, I am not even Yoruba. I only live in Lagos.
Exclusive32: which creek are you talking about? yes there are no basic amenities like roads and electricity in most such area, but life there are far better than most of those living in Lagos. I can clearly tell you that in bayelsa, there are no family of three living in a room. You can talk about pollution in such area, but not cesspit hole like most of those lagosians.
Bros, which part of Bayelsa are you talking about? Is it the one in your fantasy land or the same Bayelsa in the southern part of Nigeria, where we went to install telecom masts, and we saw indigenes living in shanties and bamboo huts right inside the creeks?? Guy, remember the 6th commandment - don't forget that all liars go to hell, o!
AnambraDota: Those places you listed hold less than 15% of Lagos population, Ikoyi, VI, Lekki have more corporations than residents.
Iyana Ipaja and Agege are more populated than the whole places combined.
You conducted a census or did a survey and came up with 15%?? When?? Which Lekki has more corporations than residents? You sabi lie, o! What part of Lekki are you even talking about? Is it Lekki Phase 1, Ikate, Elegushi, Pinnock Estate, Agungi, Osapa London, Idado, Chevyview, Ikota, Ajah, Abraham Adesanya, VGC Estate, Lekki Gardens I, II, III, IV and V Estates, Olokonla, Sangotedo, Awoyaya, Sapphire Gardens, Lakowe, Mayfair Gardens, Eputu, Ibeju-Lekki, Amen Estate, Abijo GRA, Crown Estate, Fara Park, Shapati, etc?? And you did not see where I also mentioned Surulere, Yaba, Palmgrove, Ogudu, Ikeja GRA, Magodo, Apapa, Gbagada, Surulere, and other areas in Lagos? Should I add Festac, Ikorodu and Epe into the list?
Exclusive32: I saw a family in Lagos, the husband is a volcanizer and the wife normally fry and sell akara.... They all live with their two kid in a small room packed with spare part , no toilet and no kitchen. so how can you explain this situation in ojo LGA? Because no one in bayelsa here or from bayelsa that is living such life apart from the aboki people here.
Why do you tell such big lies about people in Bayelsa? Have you been to the creeks to see how people live in poverty??
manuelzz: If you want igbos to leave SW(with the exception of lagos, beacuse lagos as we all know is no man's land), tell your brothers to stop sabotaging efforts to actualize Biafra. Very simple!
Lagosians did not sabotage the actualisation of Biafra. Your people are just clueless about how to achieve it. They think demonstrations, sit-at-home exercises, insults, bile and hate-speech will get them their Biafra on a platter of gold. Was that how other nations got their own independence?
AnambraDota: I saw one funny thread where yorubas were jubilating over IGR of Lagos and how Osun State is least poverty infested state in Nigeria.
I won't even compare the cesspit called Osun State with Yobe or Zamfara State having being there, Osun is poverty capital of SW.
Now they said Lagos is the least poor state in Nigeria, please these people that write these figures have they being to Lagos suburbs or they just obtain IGR figures from the government and distribute on papers among the populace.
Now yoruba dance surugede on, sincere people here what do see you when you pass through all these neighborhoods. Agege Orile Okokomaiko. Ilaje Mushin. Iyana Ipaja Ijora badia. Ajegunle. Ilasa Bariga. Shomolu. Etc
These slums are where the majority of Lagos people live, these areas contribute 80% of the cities population. Alimosho is the most populous LG in Nigeria and Iyana Ipaja is the heartbeat.
Now if you have not been to these slums listed and still believe poverty in Lagos is low, your sins are forgiven but if you have been to these sorry and squealors and still think Lagos poverty is low you are a m0r0n.
Let me tell you guys, there is no way one will be earning good pays or running lucrative business and still live a place with such living condition of these places listed above. Most people who live here earn less than $3 a day, there is no way you will be earning well and here living in majority of the building patterns that dominate the landscape.
Anybody that still lives in those type of houses with one passage in the middle while thousands of tenants live in rooms on both side of the entrance, the toilet and bathroom are always at the back and shared by the entire tenants, no rich persons can live in such arrangement.
Poverty rate in Lagos remain the highest, not just in Nigeria but maybe West Africa. There are more poor and extremely poor people in Lagos than anywhere in Nigeria. The issue with Lagos is that because of its cosmopolitan nature citizens find it difficult holding the government responsible for a lot of bad decisions.
Lagos is so heterogenous unlike Kogi and Benue where citizens can easily organize themselves attack the government, most people in Lagos rather direct their criticism to their various state governments than to LASG because most people think they have no stake here but just to come and make money but home is where your heart will always be.
There is no level of poverty you can find in any state in Nigeria you can't get in Lagos but more people in Lagos live from hand to mouth than any state in Nigeria. So face reality and stop basing your argument on paperwork, Lagos is the biggest economy yes but Lagos is home to the poorest people in Nigeria, the wealth is not evenly distributed.
Na wa for you, o! When you were listing out Orile, Agege, Ajegunle, Ijora Badia, Bariga, Shomolu, Okokomaiko etc, you forgot to tell everyone that the largest number of residents in those places come from the Southeast and South-South, with some Northerners thrown into the mix, especially in Ilasa.
If you had included areas like Ikoyi, Victoria Island, Lekki, Ogudu, Magodo, Ikeja GRA, Apapa GRA, old Yaba, Gbagada, Surulere, Alaka, Ilupeju, Palmgrove Housing Estate, Obanikoro, Onikan, Ire Akari, Ajao Estate etc, then everyone would have felt you were trying to present a balanced picture, instead of the biased, jaundiced view you are propagating here. Anyway, I don't blame you.... you were obviously raised in those slums, that is why you are so familiar with them.
For your information, people in Lagos do criticise and attack the LASG. Where were you when Ebun Adegboruwa took LASG to court for tolling Lekki-Epe expressway and Lekki-Ikoyi bridge? Where were you when Eko Hotel and other business owners took LASG to court over the imposition of sales tax and VAT? Do you know how many lawsuits against the LASG are currently in the law courts? The difference is that the LASG authorities have performed relatively well in comparison to other state govts, and that is why the criticism is not as loud as those of other states. Go figure!
SirMichael1: Don't mind Martha89, she's just trying so hard to make people see Edo and everything associated with it as good.
1. We have the highest numbers of prostitutes in Italy
2. The head of witchcraft resides in Edo state, don't know his compound though but martha89 should.
etc
...but she can't reply to all these 'cause I put her moniker to where it belongs. BANNED!
Yes, Martha89's post may have glossed over the issues, but you are trying to make Edo State sound like the headquarters of criminal activity in Naija, while other parts of the nation appear holy in comparison, or their people are like saints in your own view. If you have travelled far and wide within this country like I have done, you would realise that some places are even worse than many parts of Edo state, but they do not make noise about it. Most of the drug trafficking merchants in several Asian countries for example, where are they from? How many Edo names do you find among them?
I have lived in Benin and a few other places in Edo State, so I know the problems of the people. But it is no worse than what takes place elsewhere. Trust me. As for prostitution locally and abroad, Edo babes may have made it popular but honestly, other tribes have since gone into the trade and taken over the mantle from them. You are just unaware of it, yet.
Macelliot: The statistics though? Most south eastern states are financially stable. They might not have the best federal roads, but to be sincere, no region can beat south east in food nutrition or average wealth-per-individual.
mexzzy47: . God bless u real good for writing this.....
Bless who real good for writing... what?? Una too dey lie... average wealth per individual... my left foot. As if there are no beggars in the SE.
AnambraDota: Serious I don't understand what is going on in these two next door neighbor states, look like both governors are on the race of who will be the most useless and clueless governors in Nigeria.
I have only being to Lokoja once, Please is there anybody familiar with the two bleeping states?
Why did you attach a photograph of kids running away from school in Anambra, to your photo? What is the correlation with your post? I don't get it, o!
NeutralJUDGE: Someone should come up with an Igbo thread please....we have seen Idoma/Tiv,Yoruba,Efik and now Edo. Lets bring our gals so that they would murder them all.
Keep qwayiet dia! Igbo girls that always copy traditional attire of other tribes, when they dress up for their wedding? Murder wetin??
scholes0: Niice one. The attires look beautiful as a momental / one time wear but does not look too practical as an everyday/occasional wear.
Too busy.
The beaded headgear (okuku) and beaded tops are ceremonial wear, and are not worn everyday as working outfits. It is like how the Yorubas wear ankara or adire for their daily activities, while the rich, colourful aso-oke is reserved for ceremonial wear.
In fact, a lot of Igbo brides often copy the Edo ladies when they want to get married, by adapting the beaded headgear into their entire ensemble.
