I do not just understand why people be acting stupid. All states have governors, senators, LG chairmen, councillors, etc. None of you internet warriors are bothered about the LG chairmen and councillors closest to you. You don't even bother to know them let alone ask them questions yet you believe a miracle will happen when you exit Nigeria. If Nigeria divides today, there will be extreme hatred all over between all tribes. All those making noise about their dream country developing if they exit nigeria should show us examples of how their region can develop while in Nigeria. Show us sample, let your leaders show us by developing your various states first before talking nonsense about their region turning to dubai if they get freedom.
Asari dokubo and other militants got rich and the next thing they did was to start having their investments outside of their region and even in other countries. Who is deceiving who? Beautiful write-up! Your post make sense, die! |

I am not comfortable seeing someone of your pedigree dropping your bias against Igbo as TRUTH & FACTS here, irrespective of the fact that you have our daughter as a wife...You simply tried to wittingly cajole neutrals against Biafra support and probably provide a resource material for those who feed off their hatred for Igbo ...Why didn't you recount what Nigeria stands to lose by Biafra exit? Why didn't you come clear with your fears as a middle belt man who maybe confronted with INCREASED daily realities of hausafulani intimidation Incase of Biafra exit? Why not try an unbiased comparative analysis of the pros and cons maybe then you will see what hope Biafra holds? Why write OUTRIGHT lies as facts here? Which of the civil service is dominated by Igbo? I am disappointed in you my boss...
Your son may grow tomorrow to read his father's bias and unfounded vituperations against his mother's side... internet remembers...Avoid writing or write when the FACTS are TRUTH not political or subjective truths.
Finally, though I will be happy to remain in a RESTRUCTURED Nigeria but the prospects of a Biafran country whose potentials you downplayed even limited their geographical boundaries and severed her families seems VERY much tempting and more appealing to me. Hence, I will pray again; Ka mmiri Biafra zosa mu na ndi Igbo nile (let the rains of Biafra fall over us and wash away the dirty memories of Nigeria ) Iseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee !!!! Are you sure you read his post with an open mind? Which 'bias against Igbo' did the man express? In fact, he expressed his affinity & respect for them, in most of his comments! And then you claim that he 'provide a resource material for those who feed off their hatred for Igbo' .... in what way? He merely stated the facts, as he saw them. How you can interpret or twist his comments to imply that he was providing resource material to those who hate the Igbo, is truly baffling!! And you ended by saying that his son would 'grow tomorrow to read his father's bias and unfounded vituperations against his mother's side...' What dirty unfounded vituperations, biko nu? Do you even know the meaning of that word?? |

So, I chose not to expound on the already established facts which speak for themselves. Which facts speak for themselves? The guy has made some valid points, which he highlighted in red. The ball is now in your court to provide the facts, that you claim 'speak for themselves,' in order to refute his points. ApexPredator: Nigeria is a backward country.
Mirrors the Nigerian situation yet they won't take the next logical steps. Ok, you are waiting for Nigeria to expel you people, the same way Malaysia expelled Singapore in 1965? You want Nigerian President to do your dirty job for you.... oh I see! Obviously, you forgot what happened before that action was taken in Malaysia? Racial tensions grew between the Chinese and the Malays, because the Singapore had a large population of educated, prosperous Singaporean Chinese people, unlike the Malaysians who were poor, uneducated and largely confined to menial jobs in rural areas. The article you quoted said "there were massive civil riots in Malaysia.." Are you chaps willing to go down this route, and take on the attendant risks & consequences? Don't forget - Nigeria is NOT Malaysia, o! People reason and behave differently here, and so the outcome will definitely not be the same. You should also remember that Singapore voted of its' own accord to join Malaysia, and they were only part of Malaysia for just 2 years, before they went back to being a separate city-state. The sometimes turbulent relationship between the People's Action Party (PAP) and United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), which were, and still are, the ruling parties respectively of Singapore and Malaysia, has affected the recent history of both states.
...Such co-operation culminated in 1963 with the merger of Singapore and the Federation of Malaya to form Malaysia alongside Sabah and Sarawak. Singapore became part of Malaysia after a national referendum was held, under the conditions that all Singaporean citizens would automatically become citizens of Malaysia.
Singapore would also retain a degree of autonomy and state rights, such as over labour and education, as well as the right to keep all four of its official languages: English, Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. The Federation of Malaysia was established on 16 September 1963 under those conditions.
Initially, all appeared well. However, both nations developed different ideological lines on racial issues, especially concerning the Chinese race and the Malay race, mainly marked by UMNO's belief in the bumiputera policy of helping Malays as the original settlers of Malaya who were mostly poor during post independence and it was thought by PAP as a positive racial discrimination.
UMNO saw this as much needed affirmative action for Malays, who had supposedly been put at a disadvantage by the heavy presence of immigrants, mainly Chinese, who had entered the Malay Archipelago during British colonial rule; many of them had the opportunity to be businessmen living in the city, while Malays were left as coolies in rural areas.
During this period, racial tensions grew between the Chinese and the Malays, allegedly partially incited earlier by the MCP, such as during the Hock Lee bus riots, but with growing blame put on UMNO by the PAP.....
Both parties continued to escalate the tension with scathing verbal attacks on each other, accusing each other of being the cause of the riots...
In addition to racial unrest, thorny issues concerning Singapore's rights as an autonomous state further put a dent in relations, such as the failure of a common market to be set up between the Federation and Singapore, and the heavy tax burden placed on Singapore, which was seen as unfair.
Such issues catalysed the impending secession: On 7 August 1965, Tunku Abdul Rahman announced to the Malaysian Parliament in Kuala Lumpur that the Parliament should vote yes on the resolution to have Singapore expelled from the Federation, choosing to "sever all ties with a State Government that showed no measure of loyalty to its Central Government" as opposed to the undesirable method of suppressing the PAP for its actions. Singapore's separation and independence became official on 9 August 1965.
De jure, Singapore withdrew of its own accord. De facto, however, the PAP had no true authority to influence whether Singapore should leave or not, despite having pressured Tunku Abdul Rahman not to take such a course of action. The separation agreement was signed to maintain friendly relations, trade agreements, and mutual defence ties. These were left intact, although federal ties to Singapore as a state were cut off. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/People%27s_Action_Party%E2%80%93United_Malays_National_Organisation_relations |

kingzizzy: You were the one who used Scotland as an example of how to go about getting a referendum and all I did was explain to you why the Scottish example does not apply to Biafrans.
Scotland formally agreed to be part of Britain in 1707. They agreed to a marriage. That is why they had to seek a political way out when they sought a divorce.
Igbos on the hand never agreed to be part of the union of Nigeria, they never agreed to a marriage. So how can Igbos be asked to go through a divorce process when there was never any marriage?
Nigeria is the illegal creation of the white man and unless you can show that Lugard went to a national assembly to create Nigeria via a democratic process, dont ask Igbos Biafrans or Igbos to do the same to get out of a union of Nigeria which they were forced into against their will You are still digressing, rambling and going off-point. Did anyone ask you if the Igbo agreed to any marriage? Did anyone ask you how Scotland became part of the UK? Stick to the topic. The only topic under discussion, is the Igbo quest for a referendum. Ask your elected representatives to go about it the right way, and table the matter in the senate and house of reps, if they are serious. Chikena! |

We make ourselves foreigners in our own land (Nigeria) by our dispositions and actions, hence our deprivation and marginalisation. I know, we can all work together to change this mindset my friend.
We can all become better and change the status quo. Loyalty begets loyalty. We are grossly deficient in this aspect towards Nigeria. You don't openly declare disloyalty to your father's land and still expect to be given a pat on your shoulder for your open betrayal or pampered for your lack of allegiance. Who does that?
I would rather agitate for true federalism than agitate for Biafra that is a mirage.

Give us equal state like others. The failure of these are the outcome of the agitation. We need fg presence in the east build roads, rails, international airports etc like the way it's in other regions. You are blaming the Igbos for living their home for other region, treat them equally and see if they won't stay in their region. If I'm lying ask Mr Joe igbokwe why he left his home tome for a greener pasture in the west ask barrister Obane Onyekachi why he is not practicing in his region. Yet they don't want them to talk about Biafra. why? For now Biafra is an ideology. It flows in the vain of every igbo man. Yes we may not have been doing it the right way but we are being heard cos there seem to be conspiracy hence the masses took it their own way. Till the wrongs are righted the agitation won't stop. The Igbo are NOT asking for war. You are right. Can you show me any documentation where Igbos, there leaders or representatives signed to be part of Nigeria? In which parliament did Lugard move a motion for the creation of Nogeria? If you cant answer tbese questions then you will have to admit that Nigeria is an enforced colonial creation and that any of the indigenous ethnic group(s) has the right to demand and be given a referendum that allows them to stay or exit the illegal Nigerian union which they never agreed to be part of. Do you see why I do not like schooling little kids like you? It is because you often digress by going off on an unrelated tangent, that is diametrically opposed to the topic under discussion. The issue being discussed is NOT how ethnic groups came together to form a nation. The issue is your ethnic group's desire for a referendum and their clamour for secession, as well as the way they keep expecting other ethnic groups to do their dirty jobs for them. You chaps want a referendum. No problem. But there is a stipulated process that you have to follow in order to get it. Let your SE senators, House of Reps elected members at federal and state level move the motion for a referendum in the legislature. Simple. That is how most countries have done it. And that is how Scotland did their own. I repeat: a Welsh or a British MP did NOT do so for the Scottish. Why is that so hard for you to understand? And why are you talking about how Scotland agreed to be part of the UK when they signed the 1707 Act Of Union? Was that the question you were asked? |
