If I use the same word on you, will you take it as a compliment? |

APCsupporter: telling someone to "shut up" is not an insult as long as I didn't add any vulgar phrase to it like "your dirty mouth". the only abusive post that I made was posted some months ago and I have received my well-deserved ban for it. you can search till eternity Guy, you are being economical with the truth. Let me remind you, of the last time you told someone to shut up, right here on this thread. APCsupporter: shut up man. who is even begging the middle belt? what I am saying is that the middle belt is full of different tribes that one person cannot speak for everyone. if the katafawas are happy with you it does not mean that gwaris share the same opinion with you. the fact that you said we see them as inferior shows that all that you are saying is based on hatred , the same character with that of ipob . please can you also tell me the version of Islam you are talking about? you attribute anything bad to Islam but when we start talking about cannibalism in your region you begin to talk about bad eggs. the middle belt is generally OK with the north east and north west and they are northerners. a few clashes doesn't mean that we are on bad terms. concentrate on building a good relationship with the ijaws first before coming to create disunity here Haba! You see why grown men should not lie. You told someone to shut up on the 7th of June, (just 4 days ago) in this post...and now you turned round to claim the incident occurred a few months ago and you served a ban for it? Did that person you responded to, report you to the mods? So telling someone to 'shut up' is not an insult in your own book? If someone said it to you now, I guess you would thank him for paying you a compliment, right? |

In fact, at the time I quoted your last response, you had not added that word Amen, to it. You later went back to include it. So why are you now complaining? The word 'hypocrite' is an insult. Please check your dictionary. If you feel it is not an 'insult, then let me use the same word, in describing you! |

Shouldn't I report you to the mods right now, for using it when referring to me? You know what? Just like you have stated up here: "may you be banned for 20 years, if you insult me." I truly hope the mods are seeing this response from you. They'll regret asking for meters when their consumption goes from 3k monthly to 10k. Under-billed in what sense? When my pre-paid meter was working, my monthly bill never exceeded 8,000 naira. During the day, my house is empty! No lights are switched on, and all units are switched off at the mains. Immediately it went bad after a power surge, the same Disco started billing me 15,000 naira and now it has gone up to 35,000 per month. Am I running a bakery? |

Pains me to see elderlies begging DISCOs not to disconnect their service wires just because they're billed on estimates of 5k per month when they obviously can't consume 2k worth of energy in a month.
The annoying part is the outrageous aggregate billed over the months of over 130k. Who wan pay am?
And you know what? All these happen because they wouldn't supply prepaid meters. I have said it before - and I will say it again. These Discos are purveyors and dispensers of corruption. They are experts at billing for darkness! And when they bring their grossly inflated bills for electricity they barely supplied, they still have the temerity to cut off power supply to your residence, despite the fact that they have given you more darkness than light. Eko Disco wins the award for issuing fraudulent estimated bills. From 18,000 naira monthly bill in January, they suddenly inflicted a 35,000 monthly bill on us in May. Meanwhile, we did not buy any new electronic gadget since beginning of this year, our consumption pattern has not changed, and power supply was worse in May. May God punish EKEDC every single day of this year! Meanwhile, my pre-paid meter went bad since December last year, and I have reported it times without number. Where do we take faulty pre-paid meters to be repaired? Eko Disco has turned a deaf ear to such pleas. The thunder that will fire all their management, is still doing press up at the edge of the Marina. |

Maduawuchukwu: I said that the US different states once had different Customs, excise rules and military but they were still regarded as one country then. Those days are far over. You also said that the EU states have different presidents and Prime ministers and that is true. But the question is what is in a name? They may answer president but many of the powers that a president in US have they do nt have eg they don't have total powers over migration as the EU in Brussels largely dictates it; they do not have powers over currency as Brussels dictates it; even foreign affairs of the EU is dictated by Brussels. So the question is that "does the tag Of President or Prime minister really matter?" what matters is in their powers which is increasingly becoming as narrow as that of a US governor. And mind you the EU has a president. Organisations like the SADC and ECOWAS are also showing signs of becoming a country like the EU is also showing but they are still backward. Do they even have common policies as per migration from other non-ECOWAS states to theirs? The EU has all these.I never said that the EU is a country; I only siad that it is evolving into one and is showing increasingly signs of a country. And who said that Biafra is a certainty? It ought to be put to vote as not all Igbo are in support of it. If it fails then case closed; if it succeeds then secession starts. Oga, you are still contradicting yourself. And I really cannot help you if you have chosen to believe a hypothesis, instead of an actual fact. So you think that the powers of Angela Merkel the current Chancellor of Germany who was elected in 2005, over domestic affairs of citizens of Germany and those resident within her country, can be superceded and overthrown by the President of the EU? Have you done a comparative analysis of where the powers of the EU President stops and where the powers of Presidents/Prime Ministers of individual member states, start? Even when the UK was still part of EU, they voted to retain the Pound as their official currency. And they succeeded. EU could not do anything about it. Secondly, the tag of President or Prime minister really matters, as the buck stops at someone's table and one person has to be held accountable for the direction of a country! You also said that the EU functions as a country. Why deny it, at this late stage? Please study the migration policies of SADC, EAC, COMESA etc and do a comparative analysis with the migration policies of the EU, before making the kind of statements you have made here. And finally you just said that Biafra is not a certainty. It shows that you can now recognise the difference between referendum and a secession... |

Politics › Re: Northern Youths' Ultimatum: Keep Plateau And The Middle Belt Out Of Your Madness by laudate: 12:08pm On Jun 11, 2017 |
Maduawuchukwu: A referendum is also the only means used in civilised countries to determine whether a country should secede or not. So it is the most popular way to decide on secession eg Indonesia and East Timor, UK and EU, Quebec and Canada etc. Also, I restate that the EU has the features of a country which is similar in some ways with US and other federations. Features of a country differs from place to place but the existence of a common currency and Open borders is very essential; a union which adopts these is showing signs of evolution into a country even though it is still a work in progress. Do you know that the USA has been regarded as a country since its independence but it the states once had different customs, military forces etc? Oga, your post is filled with contradictions. The port regime and customs regulations in the various states that make up the USA, are not so different from one another. The US Armed forces is still one central, indivisible body. So is the US Air Force and its naval forces. They only answer to the President of the USA. The states only have their own different police force units. Now, I asked you a question earlier, how many presidents does the USA have? You have not provided any answers.... As for the EU, you cannot call it a country by any stretch of the imagination. It may have a common currency, and free migration may be encouraged within its borders. Free migration is also a common feature of regional bodies like Southern African Development Community (SADC), East African Community (EAC) which is an intergovernmental organisation composed of six countries in the African Great Lakes region in eastern Africa, the European Union (EU) which is a political and economic union of 28 member states that are located primarily in Europe etc. But each country still has its own President or Prime Minister, its own parliament, security forces, customs, etc. Can a country have multiple presidents ruling at the same time, like the EU does? So please remove that notion from your mind, that the EU is a country. Finally, a referendum is not synonymous with secession. They remain two different things. Kindly stop mixing them up. Any referendum has the potential to fail. Just like Scotland's referendum did not succeed. A referendum does not automatically translate into secession. It is like saying a litre of petrol, is the same thing as a car, simply because a car contains petrol, or needs it to move. |

Maduawuchukwu: Is Referendum not a means to get secession? So what is the difference ? And all those features you mentioned there are very much alive in many united countries most especially federal countries. USA is a single country but each state has its own constitution, electoral laws, company laws, legal system, police force etc. So EU can be called a country; an extreme form of federalism or confederation if you like. Oga, there is a MASSIVE difference between referendum and secession. Please conduct research into these areas. A referendum can be used to determine any issue that affects public interest, from a change of constitution to a change in currency. But secession is a breakaway from an existing state. The territorial sovereignty of such a state gets altered during a secession. Is that what happens in a referendum? And your example of USA is quite different within this context. How many presidents does the USA have? 1, 2, 3 or 20? As for the EU, there is no way it can ever be called a country. Do you want to go back in time to study the rudiments of Politics 101? |
