All the Deep Seaport are built by the Federal government in Lagos.

Did dey miss the entire SS/SE? Y only Lagos?

U can see from the map all the coastline in Nigeria down south.
Am tired of educating you. undecided The federal govt only built the Apapa and Tin-Can seaports in Lagos. The Lekki seaport is being built by the Lagos State govt and its investors, who raised the bulk of the money for the project. The federal govt only gave approval for the project to commence, and took 20% equity in the project. How much has federal govt contributed to the ongoing construction of Lekki seaport from inception till date, please? And while you are at it, please tell us, whether the Onne seaport in the SS was built by aliens, or the same federal govt that you claim missed out the SS/SE. sad

See Ben Ayade of Cross River is planning a deep sea port. Kindly ask the governor of your state to do the same. cheesy

The seeds for the actualization of the twin projects: the 260 kilometre Calabar – Katsina – Ala highway and the Bakassi Deep Seaport were sowed May 29, 2015 at the inauguration of Senator Ben Ayade as governor of Cross River State.

Benefits
Just last week at a retreat held for his enlarged EXCO, an elated Ayade broke the news to the gathering that the federal government has given its nod for the Bakassi Atlantic Deep Seaport to go ahead. The governor also revealed that the current Sole Administrator of the Customs and Excise, Col. Hameed Ali has equally given approval empowering the implementation of the free trade zone status which has held back the Multi-billion naira Tinapa Leisure and Business Resort from realizing its full potential.

However, a public commentator writing for Crossriverwatch, Emmanuel Etim explained that “It is common knowledge that the existing ports in Nigeria, especially Apapa and Tin Can Ports in the Lagos axis, are overstretched with the attendant inordinate delays in cargo handling and processing. With capacity for 60 million metric tonnes of cargo handling, the ports run at 100 million metric tonnes. This is expected to increase.

“The construction of the Calabar Deep Sea Port will thus increase the volume of vessel traffic and cargo coming through Cross River State, decongest Lagos and Onne ports and reduce cost of doing business for Calabar-based businesses who spend additional transport cost to take delivery of their consignments in Lagos and Onne ports.

“Some companies that depend on the port for their business activities in Cross River State include General Electric, Tinapa Business Resort, Calabar Free Trade Zone, ECM Terminals Ltd, Intel Services and Cocoa Industries, Flour mills, Dangote Group etc. “Also with the ongoing expansion of Unicem Cement Company and other cement factories coming into the state, the port is expected to serve as export port for manufactured products from the state.

“Having established the fact of the strategic location of Cross River State and the proximity of the state to the northern states of Nigeria and countries bordering the north of Nigeria, it is clear that it makes more business sense for the businesses located in that zone to use the Calabar Deep Sea Port. This justifies the need for the second project; the evacuation corridor which is the Calabar Ikom Ogoja Obudu Super highway.

“The location which has been chosen for the development of the new deep sea port is a natural deep port and thus is not expected to face the challenge of regular dredging faced by the existing port. The deep Sea Port has natural features that will make it the preferred port for many vessels. The new deep sea port is planned to be located in Bakassi Local government Area of Cross River State,” he stated. http://www.nigeriatoday.ng/2016/11/criver-whos-afraid-of-super-highway-bakassi-atlantic-deep-seaport/

Laudate did u build an international airport in Port Harcourt? If u didn't, who did? This is not socialisation as if we were in the real world, i would have injured u by now.
Injured who? You that has been arguing blindly from day one?? shocked

Ok, let me break it down for you in simple English so you can understand it. Port-harcourt International Airport has been opened for business since 1979. For many years, oil workers in Port-harcourt and other areas in the SS, used to fly direct into the region via that airport, on international flights such as Lufthansa etc. In 2006, it was closed for renovation after a fire outbreak and flights were diverted to Owerri Airport. After a few years, it was reopened. undecided

In 2010 again, it was closed temporarily for renovations, and later re-opened. Under Stella Ada Oduah, the former Aviation Minister, it was proposed that international flights should be separated from domestic flights at the old terminal, so a new terminal would be built for that purpose, while the old terminal would be upgraded and renovated. The Federal Govt approved N106 billion naira for construction of new airport terminals in Lagos, Abuja, Kano, Port-Harcourt and Enugu, under Jonathan.

The international airports’ new terminals in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, and Kano are being built by China Civil Engineering Company with loans secured from Nexim Bank, while the modernisation of the old airports began during Mrs. Stella Oduah’s tenure.

However, commercial flights are still on-going at all these airports where the old terminals are being upgraded or renovated, and where the new terminals are being built. Can you understand it now, or is it still too difficult for you to comprehend?

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has faulted a recent ranking which rated the Port Harcourt International Airport as the worst airport in the world.

This is contained in a statement issued on Tuesday in Lagos by Mr Yakubu Dati, FAAN’s General Manager, Corporate Affairs. NAN reports that the ranking by SleepingInAirports.net rated the Port Harcourt International Airport as “the dirtiest and most corrupt airport in Africa”.

FAAN, in its statement said, “Our stand is that the said ranking was unfounded as it did not take cognisance of the fact that the airport terminal was still undergoing remodeling.

“Some of its terminal operations are still conducted in a temporary structure”.

The statement pointed out that the existing domestic terminal, from which both international and local flights were conducted, was undergoing remodeling.

“Apart from this, construction work is also in progress at the site of the new international terminal.

“We believe that operations at such an airport where construction work is going on simultaneously with normal flight and related operations cannot be as conducive as in those airports where there are no on-going construction projects.

“Neither can environments at such different scenarios be equally clean, the statement added. https://www.informationng.com/2015/10/port-harcourt-airport-not-the-dirtiest-most-corrupt-in-africa-faan.html

And you argue like a toddler! Were you not the same person that claimed Enugu International Airport had not been built in your earlier post? How come you are now showing pictures of the completed airport buildings at the same airport? What kind of fraudulent story are you yarning here?

When Enugu state governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi received the first Ethiopian Airline international cargo airplane that landed in Enugu in August 2016, where did he receive it? And in which airport did that plane land?

The Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, received the first cargo aircraft in the airport on Tuesday.

Speaking at the occasion, the Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, commended the Federal Government for the realisation of the cargo section of the airport.

The governor, who also addressed stakeholders and the business community that witnessed the landing of the first cargo aircraft in the airport, described the occasion as significant.

He said that the landing of the cargo aircraft, a Boeing 757 operated by Ethiopian Airlines, would open up the South-East of the country to the international community.

“Three years ago, precisely on August 24, 2013, we welcomed the first ever international flight to this airport operated by Ethiopian Airlines.

Today, we have gathered to celebrate the first landing of cargo courtesy of the same airlines.

We cannot over-emphasise the tremendous socio-economic benefit that this significant milestone in the history of aviation in the state promises to bring to the region,” he said.

Ugwuanyi said that the state government would take advantage of the economic benefits afforded by cargo delivery at the airport.

“Not only can our people fly to and from all parts of the world, but they can now have bulk cargo delivered to them through the airport.

It will save cost, enhance convenience in the importation of goods, create employment and help raise the profile of this airport.”

We thank the Ethiopian Airlines for taking the lead to assist our people in the economic development of our region.

I urge the business moguls to take advantage of this for the benefit of all,” Ugwuanyi said.

The Traffic and Sales Manager of the airlines, Biniam Addisu, said that the future of the cargo business in the airport was viable. https://www.bellanaija.com/2016/08/akanu-ibiam-international-airport-enugu-receives-first-cargo-aircraft/

Tewolde said the airline would commence scheduled thrice weekly flights to New York-Newark from Addis Ababa on July 3 via Lomé, Togo, thereby connecting Enugu to New York

Ethiopian Airline will commence three days a week flights from Enugu to New York on Thursday (today) to enhance business in the South East in particular and the country in general. The Group Chief Executive Officer of the airline, GebreMariam Tewolde, announced this at the 70th Anniversary of the airline in Enugu on Wednesday.

He said: “For travelers flying out of Lagos through Lome to New York, the journey is about 12-hour flight as passengers will connect between New York-Newark and many cities throughout Africa. “At Lomé, passengers will enjoy seamless connections to/from points in West Africa with ASKY, Ethiopian partner airline based in Lomé.

“Connections will be available to/from Abidjan, Bamako, Bissau, Brazzaville, Conakry, Dakar, Douala, Kinshasa, Lagos, Libreville, N’djamena, Niamey, Ouagadougou, Yaoundé etc. “We are very pleased that Ethiopian Airline has taken the leadership role in Africa and is among the few leading airlines in the world to invest in this latest technology and efficient flying machine. http://theeagleonline.com.ng/ethiopian-airline-commences-enugu-new-york-flights/

Stop envying Lagos. undecided It is not the Federal Govt that is building the new seaports in Lagos. It is the state govt in partnership with private investors. Port Harcourt International Airport (IATA: PHC, ICAO: DNPO) is an international airport located in Omagwa, a suburb of Port Harcourt, the capital city of the Rivers State in Nigeria. The airport has a single terminal with separate facilities for international and domestic flights. In 2009, the airport served 1,081,587 passengers, making it the third busiest airport in Nigeria.

The Port Harcourt non-directional beacon (Ident: PR) and VOR-DME (Ident: POT) are located on the field. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_Harcourt_International_Airport
Onne Port Complex is situated along Bonny Estuary on Ogu Creek which is about 25 kilometers south of Port Harcourt, Rivers State of Nigeria. The geographical area of the Port spans between NAFCON (Now NOTORE) Jetty and Bonny Island. It passes-crosses three Local Government Areas of Rivers State, namely: Eleme, Ogu-Bolo and Bonny. The land area of approximately 2,500 hectares is situated on the soil of Eleme Local Government Area while the channel to the Port along Bonny River and Ogu Creek within Bonny and Ogu-Bolo Local Government Areas.

There are two major Terminal facilities at Onne Port Complex. These are the Federal Ocean Terminal (FOT ) and the Federal Lighter Terminal ( FLT ).

FEDERAL OCEAN TERMINAL (FOT)
The Federal Ocean Terminal has a total quay length of 2890 meters. This terminal which is deep and large was designed to accommodate and anchor bigger and ocean going vessels and to berth vessels of 40,100 to 50,000 DWT capacity. It was envisaged to be the largest, deepest most modern Port in the West and Central African sub-regions and has potential for expansion to serve both local and international investors. Being concessional to a multinational company called Intels Logistics services (INTELS), the construction of the Ocean terminal, was designed to be in 4 (four) phases. I owe you no explanation for that, of course I think knowing the name of your tribe really matters a lot and it will help solving the issue on ground, but since you choose not to say your tribe name I will pity you with this.
By 1872 Lagos was a cosmopolitan trading center with a population of over 60,000 people.Colonial Lagos developed into a busy, cosmopolitan port, with an architecture that blended Victorian and Brazilian styles. The Brazilian element was imparted by skilled builders and masons who had returned from Brazil Th.e black elite was composed of English-speaking "Saros" from Sierra Leone and other emancipated slaves who had been repatriated from Brazil and Cuba. By 1872 the population of the colony was over 60,000, of whom less than 100 were of European origin. In 1876 imports were valued at £476,813 and exports at £619,260. Telephone links with Britain were established by 1886, and electric street lighting in 1898.In August 1896, Charles Joseph George and G.W. Neville, both merchants and both unofficial members of the Legislative Council, presented a petition urging construction of the railway terminus on Lagos Island rather than at Ido, and also asking for the railway to be extended to Abeokuta. Lagos history is rich in Yoruba tradition, trade and commerce, infrastructural development and cosmopolitanism." -EXTRACTED With the little facts above, I would like to educate some illiterates making stupid assumption from blind sentiments that they developed Lagos. Lagosians had telephone presence in 1886, Itu and Calabar got connected to Telephone in 1923, while between 1946 and 1952, a three-channel line carrier system was commissioned between Lagos and Ibadan and was later extended to Oshogbo, Kaduna, Kano, Benin, and Enugu. Communication technology is a major signifier of civilizations and if Lagosians were already making telephone calls more than 70 years before your daddies, where then did you get the warped idea that you came to develop Lagos? By 1856 Cable and Wireless Company of the UK had commissioned a submarine cable link between Lagos and London and In 1851 a post office was established in Lagos; all these before of the emergence of Nigeria as an amalgamated country. If I may ask again, where did the stupid idea that Igbo developed Lagos came from? Or that Lagos was developed with Nigeria's money when Lagos was not even part of Nigeria until 1914. I always feel embarrassed anytime I read and hear even so-called educated people from the East making these stupid assertions. The first Yoruba lawyer Christopher Alexander Sapara Williams was called to the English Bar in 1879 whilst the first Igbo lawyer, Sir Louis Mbanefo, was called to the English bar in 1937. Again the first Yoruba medical practitioner, Dr. Nathaniel King, graduated in 1875 from the University of Edinburgh whilst the first Igbo medical practitioner, Dr. Akannu Ibiam, graduated from another Scottish University in 1935. Again I ask, where did the ignorant hypothesis of the backward Yoruba race who needed development by the superior Igbo race come from? For the sake of our generation and posterity we need to teach factual history and not just cook up some rooster and bull ego-centric concoctions as facts. The attitude of recycling long tales steeped in empty arrogance should be discarded before you miseducate your kids with fictions. Awolowo will continue to be the Yoruba hero not because of blind followership but because he gave his people the system of free education, free healthcare and he introduced Television to the Yoruba; making Yorubaland the first region to have a TV station in Africa all done with revenues from Cocoa. It is crass ignorance and Unclad buffonery to claim Lagos was built with Nigeria's money. In addition, where did the foolish idea that the Igbo brought civilization to Lagos and Yoruba-land come from? The aim of this post is not to deride any tribe but to correct the dangerous misinformation trending among some Igbo youths and common in their narratives that Lagos is a no-man's land and that their fathers built and develop Lagos. Your forebears came to Yoruba- land like every other settlers and we appreciate their contributions but the stupid claim that Igbo built and develop Lagos is a gross display of stupidity because Lagos was already developed before your forebears came here from their villages and towns. The first storey building in Nigeria was built in Marina, Badagry in 1845, long before some of hinterland people gave up the idea of conical mud houses with thatched roofs which some boastfully called 'ancient mansions.' How can you now claim your grand-sires developed Lagos? Please if you are one of those spreading the fiction, I expect you to desist from self-delusion and collective amnesia forthwith. The first Igbo alphabet-character set and Igbo primer (Isoama-Ibo) was published by Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther (a yoruba man from Osogun) in 1857. How can you now claim superiority over the Yoruba race and even carelessly affirm that your forebears should be thanked for bringing enlightenment to Yoruba Land? While I do not see all these achievements as a sign of Yoruba superiority over the Igbo or any other tribe for I do not believe in racial superiority; I will not also tolerate any attempt by bigots who stoke ethnic hatred through incitement and arrogant claims of superiority over others.
You are the one getting angry over nothing, you ended up again disgracing and embarrassing your tribe and yourself.

You lost again.
ROFLMAO!! cheesy wink grin Did you even read the article you quoted up here before responding to my remarks? I wish you had included the source and url link of the article. Anyway, thanks for using this article or excerpt to prove that the Igbo did NOT develop Lagos. Oh, and thanks for using it to shoot yourself in the foot! cheesy

You are the one responding like a toddler. You don't really need my facts and figures since your tribe was excluded from the list of the tribes that developed Lagos.

Stop disgracing your nameless tribe here, people here are beginning to wonder why you can't say the name tribe of your tribe here, some people think you are just being ashamed of your tribe while some are doubting your nationality cos you are clueless about Nigerian history.

You are the one beating around the bush here cos all your previous comments were just pointless and meaningless.

You are the one that needs to swerve cos you dont have a point.
Guy, why are you getting worked up? If I did not need your facts and figures, would I ask for it? You made an assertion, and he who asserts must prove. Isn't it because you do not have the right facts and figures to back up your propaganda, that you have not been able to offer coherent answers to my questions? huh

And this your fixation on my tribe is getting ridiculous. Why do you want to know what tribe I hail from? Will it put money in your pocket, or food on your table? cheesy

As for making meaningless and pointless comments, everyone can see that you are a master or guru in this area. Just go back & read all your previous posts, and you will see it. Daalu zi! wink

Let us ask u a question. How did igbos not develop Lagos?

Is it by ensuring no Seaport in the entire South East/SouthSouth?
Bia kete, don't allow people to laugh at your inanity. cheesy Who told you that the Igbo developed Lagos? huh How can the South-East have a seaport, when they do not have a coastline that gives their land direct access to the sea? However, there are seaports in Port-harcourt, Calabar and Onne, which are all located in the South-South. Or didn't you know this fact? Why didn't you claim that your people developed those ones, too? shocked

unstableaswater:
Is it by ensuring no International Airport in the entire South East/South South?

Is it by using our Oil in the SouthEast/SouthSouth?
Who told you there is no international airport in the South-East and South-South? shocked What is Enugu International Airport? And Port-harcourt International Airport? Do they look like spare parts markets to you? huh Oh, let me guess you are going to claim that aliens developed those airports, right? Not so? huh As for your oil, what is the amount of oil being produced in the South-East compared to what other parts of the Niger-Delta are producing? Stop your silly stories, abeg. I know you are going to jump up now, and claim that only the oil from the SE was used to develop Lagos, as if Edo, Ondo and other parts of the Niger-Delta do not produce oil! sad And the oil was not used to develop different parts of Nigeria, including Lagos and even parts of your communities in the South-east & South-south. Ask your governors what they did with their allocations from 1960 till date!

unstableaswater:
Is it by Lagos being the Capital City?

Is it by taxing SouthEast/ SouthSouth?
Now you are being too ridiculous. cheesy Who made Lagos the capital? Wasn't it the colonial masters? And was the capital not removed from Lagos to Abuja more than 20 years ago? Or is that you failed to notice this, as you were spinning your propaganda? Next, you will claim that the Igbo made Lagos the capital of Nigeria. Hehehehe.... cheesy

As for taxes, please do a comparative analysis of all the commercial enterprises owned by the SE & SS people, and compare it to the ones owned by people from other ethnic groups, in Lagos. Did anyone tell you that only SE-owned businesses or businessmen pay tax, while those from other ethnic groups do not? Or what point are you trying to make here? shocked

unstableaswater:
Is it by our Oil Company headquaters being in Lagos and paying tax to Lagos?

Is it by Lagos special Status Bill?

Just tell me how Igbos and SouthSouth did not develop Lagos?
The decision about where to site the headquarters of an oil company, is taken by the management of that oil company and not by indigenes of other ethnic groups. sad So what is your problem? Many of the oil companies have their operational offices in the Niger-Delta and South-South, but how many of them are operating in peace? If your SS militant brothers are not vandalising their assets or pipelines today, they are busy kidnapping their expatriates tomorrow. Now, who in his right senses would relocate his headquarters to such a region? shocked

As for Lagos special status bill, it was put forward by Lagos reps, and not the SE or SS people or the Igbo. So why are you lamenting about it? huh You can also ask your people to raise a special status bill for your own region or city. So, there is no need to get worked up.

Now, from all what has been said here, you can see clearly that the Igbo did NOT develop Lagos. undecided If you want a clearer insight about the history of Lagos, please read this book : Possessed – A History of Law & Justice in the Crown Colony of Lagos (2014) written by Supo Shasore. It would enlighten you.

Whenever they see logic that they can't defend they try to turn in into an insult match! I schooled one earlier today...instead of him to answer my question he started crying over opc as if that has anything to do with the thread!

Thats what we are saying. Can you tell us the name of your tribe?

Why not tell us the name of your tribe maybe I can include your name in the list of tribes that developed Lagos.

You are the one spreading propaganda because you don't know anything about the history of Lagos.

We all know that Igbo made Lagos what it is today but tribalism and hatred won't allow you to see that.

You are clearly the one that needs to fvckoutta here cos you lack facts. I mean real basic facts.

You have just given yourself best advice.

Go and play with your fellow kids.
Can you see why I keep calling you a toddler? cheesy Instead of responding with tangible facts and figures, you are throwing a tantrum. Why do you want me to tell you my tribe? Did anyone from my tribe come out to say they developed Lagos? No. So why are you digressing??

Biko, too many people are making fun of you on this thread, because you keep repeating that your tribe developed Lagos. And when people ask you that how did they develop the city, you start beating around the bush without being able to offer a concrete answer. Oga, swerve make better person see road! wink Hehehe.... cheesy

You sound like a kid crying over nothing.

You are not Yoruba then why are you bothering me with silly question.

Why are you crying more than the bereaved?

I said Igbos developed Lagos and how is that your Fvckin business?

Did I mention the name of your tribe?

Why not mind your business and worry about your tribe since you claimed you are not Yoruba?

Answer these questions then I can start lecturing you on the issue concerning who developed Lagos.
Your problem is that you do not realise that people from several different ethnic groups live and work in Lagos, who are NOT Yoruba. undecided Are you saying such folks cannot ask you, how your own people developed Lagos, like you claim?

You see the problem is that when you start throwing out such propaganda that lacks any basis, it backfires on you because you have no answers to defend your claims. Now, run along like a tiny little toddler, and stop telling fairytales about how your ethnic group developed Lagos. cheesy

Bia, why you dey fall my hands like dis, nah??! cheesy You and I know that the last time a roll call of toddlers on NL was taken, your name was the first one on the list. Now, who is the Yoruba boy, here? Na you? shocked

I have asked you the same question almost 5 times, and you are just beating around the bush without providing an answer. Listen please, for the last time, kindly tell us: "just how exactly, did you and your people develop Lagos....hmmn?" huh

It's clear you do not want to be objective.

"L\aughing" at the tomatoes production link shows that you have no idea what free matket is. And you certainly ignored the fact that there is a MATERIAL reason NNPC was working, yet NONE of its refineries could work in full capacity since all these years.

And, are you trying to suggest that his claim of not receiving "ALL" has translated to meaning the same thing as "he received NONE"? huh huh

See, even if it is only $1billion forex subsidy he got (and I'm convinced he got much more) do you realize how powerful that is as an incentive?

Do you know how much unfair advantage it gave him over other businesses (including fuel importers) that required the same forex at CBN rate but could not get it (not even at the comnercial bank rate) ?

Fact is the dangote empire is traditionally known to ride on exclusive govt. incentives. And it's now getting bigger.

But that's my point all the while. All investors (not just dangote) need attractive incentives to invest in unattractive sectors of the economy. That's how it works, but socialists don't have a clue.
Nah, the lack of objectivity is oozing from your pores and dripping from your words. sad I still can't get over the way you compared tomato paste market, to the petroleum products international oil market. shocked

Do you even know what the Platt Oilgram is? huh Please google it. As for getting unfair commercial advantage, Dangote has stated that the bulk of the money for his refinery was raised overseas. Only 10% or less (i.e. about $173 million), came from the local banking sector, and he had to pay for it. Yet, you are still here chanting unfair advantage. Did CBN dash him the money or did they sell that small amount of forex to him at a lower rate? No! sad

As for incentives, most top companies also got similar incentives from govt, including those in the telecoms and power sector. What do they have to show for it? undecided

The fuel importers, just want to continue importing and making subsidy claims, because it is a cheap way to earn money without doing much productive work. We have seen how some of them were jailed recently for making false subsidy claims.

You can call your fellow socialists to debate this, but my own view is that those calling for total deregulation need to put something in place to cushion the aftermath of any systemic shock that arises from their total deregulation. Or else, they would just be committing financial & economic hara kiri. sad
