FBIL: Mr. Doctor..! All you have said here aren't completely true. There are cases of women who had successful IVF at age 50plus but ended up having imbeciles. I have seen about two...!! Most Nigerian doctors have low knowledge of medicine because they have little International exposure, and many have refused to embrace research. My friend on NHIS, went to FMC Ado-Ekiti for medical help, the doctor diagnosed malaria and gave him drugs on NHIS. Upon taking 2 dozes of the drugs, he lost his voice completely, became weak and lost appetite for food. He managed to call me on phone. I'm not a doctor though..! I said scan your result to my ''Whatsapp''. And I immediately asked him to discard the entire drugs given by the doctor. I sent him a brand of antimalaria combined with a brand of antibiotic. He obeyed me and managed to reach ''Old Garage area'' for the drugs. Two days later, he recovered his voice completely and became well. But instead of him to thank God for having me, he took a mufty-wearing policeman to embarrass the doctor for giving him fake drugs. The doctor gently pleaded with them and revealed that he knew the medicine wasn't going to work but was constrained by NHIS coverage to give him low-potent drugs whose costs are within NHIS. Who do you blame here: Doctor, Patient or NHIS? Both the doctor and the NHIS. That doctor should be flogged! He knew the drugs were not going to work, yet he still prescribed them for your friend? What if your friend's condition had worsened and he could not even reach out to you, or to anyone else for help? Do you realise that people still die of malaria, in this day and age? The doctor had a duty to tell his patient the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth! He should have explained that the NHIS plan does not cover the medication needed to cure him, and so he should ask him to either pay more to cover the cost of the right drugs needed to treat him, or go outside to get the prescription for the right drugs, filled by a competent pharmacy. The NHIS should also be blamed, for not being flexible enough with their plans. Some of their plans and processes are too rigid. And finally, you are not a doctor but you are prescribing medication to someone who is ill. You try, sha for your friend. I must commend your ingenuity. But wait o, what if something had gone wrong, or those drugs had caused complications for him? Some people develop an allergic reaction to certain drugs, and this could cost them their lives. Bottom line? Always appropriate seek medical advice. Get a 2nd or even a 3rd medical opinion, if necessary. |

Virgohills: Hello guys, I’m Bayo Fagbenro.
I have been working for Spots.ng for a while now and I want to talk to you about the opportunities that I have benefitted from this past month. I first saw a post on Facebook advertising a job of 4,000 Naira per day. Basically, what the job is about is sending in the names and addresses of great locations and spots (minus hotels) that are popular in your locality or throughout Nigeria. For every spot that I submitted, I earned 200 Naira, and after every 20 that I send, I get paid in batches of 4, 000 Naira. At first, I was doing 20 per day, but now I do between 50-60 each day depending on the feedback from my friends in other states and the speed of the internet. And now, I have been making 9, 000 to 12, 000 Naira every day They don’t ask for picture, just a name, address and description of the place. In this time of recession, this thing has helped me a lot and I felt like sharing to others too. Here’s a link to the submission form if you are interested:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScJ9YlYcyjV6jgQSedku51NG6zHFE5qsVs72rglgciFmakMtA/viewform
Here’s a link to their website: https://sites.google.com/hotels.ng/spotsngupload/ You guys had better delete the link to the excel sheet that contains the list of your so-called cool spots. So Mountain of Fire (MFM) Church is now a cool spot? And RCCG parishes, too? Along with the list of hospitals and other agencies there? Haba! As if that was not enough, the list of all the people who submitted info on those places, along with their full names and bank account numbers, are also clearly displayed on the same sheet. To achieve what, gwanu? Haven't you guys ever heard of confidentiality before? What if those accounts get hacked? Chai! E be like say dem never sue una before, that is why you chaps are so careless with information that should be kept away from public domain!! mtcheew |

engrMikemd: 100 open heart surgery? well I don't know why I find this incredible Well, it depends on how many operating theatres, cardiologists, heart surgeons and other medical staff they have on board, as well as how affordable their surgical operations are. In most public hospitals, there is a long waiting list of patients scheduled for surgery but unable to undergo such procedures due to lack of equipment, inadequate resources and unavailable specialists. So some of those patients might end up going to places such as Babcock if all those things are available. If they have done 100 surgeries so far, well they should keep up the good work. What I am more interested in, is the success rate of those surgical operations. Have they recorded 80% success, 50% or 20%? |

fxbot: It is very possible, very very possible. BUT there don't seem to be much experience people who know how to building using red brick. I have always nursed the idea of using red bricks to build house at 50% cut off on current concrete blocks.
A lot of our old houses were built using mud, including story buildings that are still in existence today. You wouldn't know they are mud houses except they tell you. But why would Nigerian neglect using it just shows the sickening bandwagon mentality that has eating us all. Most of the things we do is BECAUSE other people are doing it, not because it is right or because we BENEFIT any visible thing. Most people use Toyota because it is very common as lot and lots of other Nigerians are using it. Do you know that Nissan is cheaper and as rugged as Toyota, even Volks Passat?
When I look at the westerner we like to imitate for every damn thing, come and see what they magically do with red bricks. Search the internet and beautiful houses built using red bricks but here we like to feel pompous. You are so-oo right! In fact, with all the universities that we currently have, I would have expected them to conduct more research into how to make stabilised mud bricks stronger and safer for use, in addition to how to mass produce such blocks for affordable housing programmes. State govts should start insisting on using these laterite bricks and mud blocks for mass hosing projects wherever possible, in order to popularise its use, and bring costs down. They should also partner with organisations like Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute (NBRRI), Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB), Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA) etc, in order to train artisans, builders, brick layers & others on standard best building practice, so they can acquire relevant skills in construction of houses using stabilised laterite bricks and mud blocks. |

Depper grooves ensures more interlocked setting, which makes it difficult or rather impossible for such to happen....
See grooves on brick and image of building below... How much are your bricks presently? And how many of your bricks would be equal in size to a 9-inch normal sandcrete block? If there is no laterite at the project site, can you make the blocks at your own end and deliver to the site? |
