naijaking1: Don't worry, Fulani terrorists are making the same very point Ojukwu tried to warn Nigerians about 40 years ago. In as much as you, sons of murderous Othman dan Fodio continue to "use and abandon northern minorities, subjugate southerners so that they will never determine their own future" then the Igbo mans' point have been made by your greed and insatiable taste for blood.
I even believe that short sighted Yorubas like the poster have suddenly woken up from slumber to see that Igbos are not the enemy, they are actually Yoruba's best protection from a guaranteed extermination by the Fulani arabs. The person you were responding to (i.e. Aufbauh), is actually from Benue. I believe you read him, wrong. He is not one of the 'sons of murderous Othman dan Fodio,' to use your own words. His point was that his people have been fighting back against the Fulani for decades, and their staying power and upper hand in some of these skirmishes have been under-reported by the press. For instance, he implies that for every one of his people killed by the Fula, his own folks kill ten in retaliation, but this has not been picked up by the press. His grouse is that the Igbo have taken the situation out of context by sounding alarms that his people have been badly dealt with, even when the case is the reverse. I don't agree with this point, just as I do not agree with his diatribe against the Igbo as I believe it is uncalled for, but I must say however that their resilience is appreciated, and they need everyone's support to resolve this issue to the very end, in a firm decisive manner, as quickly as possible. While I cannot speak for the Yoruba or any other ethnic group, I must say in all honesty that I really think your last statement is rather strange. You believe that "Igbos are not the enemy, they are actually Yoruba's best protection from a guaranteed extermination by the Fulani arabs." This comment left me gobsmacked. How are they the Yoruba's best protection? Pray, do tell. |

The battle against these criminals must be concerted and resolute, and the first step is in unraveling their real identities because you cannot fight an unknown enemy. Please stop waiting for the federal govt to act. They are part of the problem. From all indications, those on the receiving end of those attacks know that the Fulani herdsmen have always carried out raids and attacks against the livelihood, properties and farmlands of the Middle belt communities, for the past few decades. This has always led to violent clashes between those herdsmen and the local communities in the Middle Belt. And the security agencies have either given a half-hearted response, or looked the other way. Now the clashes are getting worse, because in the past few years, criminal elements among the Fulani herdsmen have colluded with the BH guys, to make the attacks more severe. |

Have you forgotten that your own people were in attendance on that day, and they even clapped for the Oba after he made those comments? In many communities, their brethren who failed to defend their interests before the Oba of Lagos when he made those comments would have been held accountable, or dealt with. How many Yoruba sons were in full support? Well, I will leave the Yoruba people to respond to you o! Even though some folks were in support, all I know is that people like Jimi Agbaje, Bode George & co., were not in support of those comments. ... When the Oba of Lagos was threatening to throw Igbo that did not vote into the lagoon, your Eze Ndi'Igbo in Lagos and other members of your ethnic group were in attendance. What did they do when they heard that threat?? They clapped in merriment, laughed excitedly like schoolkids, and promised to comply with his demands, instead of taking him to task over his remarks. How come you have not visited them with your campaign of hate? Instead, you guys keep repeating this one-sided story like a mantra, and it is beginning to turn into propaganda. I am not begging anybody, but what you people cannot do in Onitsha, Aba or anywhere, don’t do it here.

In a veiled reference to one of Jonathan’s predecessors, Akiolu stated that the crisis Nigeria was facing was not caused by the Jonathan administration but by another person he refused to name.
Continuing with his tirade, he said: “If not for the appeal from Asiwaju (Bola Tinubu) and my highly respected maternal father, the Awujale of Ijebu-Ode, all what is happening today is not the cause of the present government. The man who caused everything knows himself.”
In his response, the Eze-Ndigbo of Amuwo-Oriade, Dr. Gordian Dimojiaku, promised Akiolu that the Igbos in the state would support Ambode.
“The mistake of last Saturday was caused by everybody, not only the Igbos. It is not only the Igbos that were responsible for the votes. But we have learnt our lesson. Saturday’s election is going to be a different thing and Ambode is going to win.
“Everybody knows that when you fail the first time, you cannot afford to fail again. ....Somehow, they will find a way to tell their contemptuous south south neighbours how there's a grand conspiracy by the hausa-fulani /Yoruba to marginalize them because of their oil, They will alert the Yoruba how the hausa-fulani has orchestrated plan to invade to islamize and colonize them. They will tell the middle beltan how the fulani has been killing their people without Buhari's response. Haba Igbos, na only una Waka come? Can't you figure out that no Nigerian is telling you something about the so called fulani agenda that you've make us all to dread? I am from benue state and i can confidently tell you not to cry for us as we are known veteran warriors. It is also noteworthy that the media chooses what to report probably because of interest, if not to any one my people that is killed by fulani herdsmen i assured you that they've lost close to ten men and hundreds of cows . this is only verifiable from the locals and not the media. ..... Guy, I understand where you are coming from, but I have chosen to respond only to the highlighted parts of your post. Yes, the minorities in the middle belt from Benue, Kogi, Plateau, Taraba etc., have done thier best over the years, to keep the Fulani herdsmen at bay. But people are getting tired. Many of these herdsmen are lawless and do not care about the damage and mayhem, caused by their cattle to the farmlands and properties, belonging to communities in the Middle Belt. They should have been called to order, a long time ago. Unfortunately no one is doing anything about it. Should the middle belt have to sleep with one eye closed, because of these marauders? NO! Every law-abiding Nigerian going about his lawful duties, is entitled to security of life and property, especially in his ancestral home. And the security agencies who are sworn to uphold the law, should be made to provide this security irrespective of whose ox is gored! Unfortunately, this is not happening at the moment. The question we should ask is why?? Why have our leaders turned a blind eye?? A few people have proffered reasons for this anomaly. Kindly read this excerpt: THE STRATEGY OF GRAZING RESERVES AS AN EXPANSIONIST TOOL
As earlier stated, it is not a secret that one of the greatest passions of the Fulani is cattle. It is so important that a man’s societal status is largely dependent on the size of his herd. It is unFulani for a Fulani man not to own cattle. One thing that is hardly brought to the fore, though, is that most of the real owners of cattle in present day Nigeria are not really the nomads roaming the wild and our highways driving millions of cattle, but wealthy business barons in the cities and corridors of power. These men hire the nomads to take care of their cattle, while they give attention to issues of religion and politics.
It should, however, be noted that, one of the major and traditional sources of wealth for these people is cattle. The Cattle business is a multi-billion naira business in Nigeria, and it is owned and controlled mainly by a few barons of the Sokoto Caliphate. They have formed themselves into an association known as Miyetti Allah Hore or more popularly Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN). It is also worthy of note that the Sultan of Sokoto is said to be the life patron of the MACBAN group.
Aside from being the father of all Fulani, and himself an owner of a great herd of cattle, he is a major stakeholder in the cattle business in Nigeria and stands to benefit directly from any profits made from cattle. This is aside of his being the father of all Muslims in Nigeria. Little wonder the Sultan has always been quick to personally wade into anything that concerns cattle herdsmen or Muslims in any part of Nigeria
Global warming resulting in unusual climate change with all its attendant consequences has unavoidably led to a rapid depletion of grazing fields in the traditional Northern home states of the cattle herdsmen. Urbanization, deforestation and desertification have sent panic among the cattle breeding business community, not just in Nigeria, but further north in countries like Chad, Niger, Mali, Mauritania, etc.
Added to this, political upheavals and civil wars have resulted into a gross state of insecurity that has threatened the business of cattle rearing. The consequence of this development is that herdsmen from further north have been compelled to look southwards for pasture for their cattle, which might probably be in millions of heads of cattle.
The resultant influx of these illegal aliens, who are many times well-armed, violent and perhaps, even radicalized, has even been acknowledged by the Federal Government of Nigeria. This unprecedented influx has, predictably, put more pressure on the largely peasant middle belt population with its very attractive hundreds of thousands of acres of green vegetation and fresh springs of water, which are one of the major attractions to the herdsmen and their cattle.
To the herdsmen, taking over these lands means not just salvaging their threatened cattle business but a major, and perhaps, unprecedented leap in their profit margin. Moreover, the increasing population within the region and further south only means a larger market. The closer the supply to the market, the better! And for their aristocratic masters in the glass houses of the Sokoto Caliphate, taking over this region means more than cattle.
So, once again, even if only for economic survival, taking the Middle Belt became an urgent imperative. The politics of grazing reserves had to be driven with all the power and wit they could muster. The advantages were too numerous. If they could manipulate government machinery to appropriate land in all the 36 states and the Federal Capital, it would suddenly give them everything they had been longing for.
They would get the entire middle belt and the rest of the country in one fell swoop. The whole nation will finally be at their feet, and it would be a great centenary anniversary gift to their great ancestor, Uthman dan Fodio. Read the rest here: https://atiterkula./2015/05/07/the-3rs-of-grazing-viz-rights-routes-and-reserves-the-fulani-invasion-sacking-and-occupation-of-the-middle-belt-states-of-nigeria-from-the-perspective-of-a-continental-islamic-agenda-the/ In the past, there was a clamour for grazing fields to be provided to the Fulani herdsmen, across different parts of nigeria. Those wondering why advocates of creating grazing fields or routes for the Fula have suddenly gone quiet, need to realise that it appears to be an unworkable concept. The Fulani elites will support the cattle rearers/herdsmen, because they are the greatest owners of cattle in the North. So those expecting Buhari to lock up the cattle rearers or herdsmen guilty of kidnapping and causing mayhem in the middle belt, and other parts of the country will wait for a long time. They are part and parcel of the whole problem. There is an unwritten code among Northerners that frowns on confrontation with constituted authority. Where the powers of those in authority are to be challenged, it is done carefully with discretion. The stage is set and consensus is built gently, as discontent swells through the ranks. Any central figure leading the confrontation, also has to be on the same pedestal as those he confronts. That is why some folks will not rush to comment, because the problem is far more intricate and deeper, than it looks. Mere condemnation will achieve nothing, without some measure of action to back it up. Senator David Mark is from the middle belt. And so are a host of retired army generals and ex-security servicemen. Right now, they are keeping quiet, probably because they are exploring ways of resolving the situation via a diplomatic settlement. When this fails, all fangs will be bared. Like a blogger recently said: . .".Nigerians are being led to believe that these herdsmen are helpless bush nomads with a few hungry cows, that just need to eat the grass that nobody needs anyway. Since somehow their cattle can’t help wandering off into some farm, with, perhaps, some little destruction, which usually incenses a largely intolerant and hostile farming host community against them..." This is untrue. The attacks by the herdsmen appear to be a coordinated response, to win sympathy from the public, but unfortunately it has backfired against them. May their evil continue to fail! So kindly spare a thought and a prayer for those middle belt communities, who have borne the brunt of the attacks. In my humble view, the Tiv and other Middle Belt tribes should simply be supported to defend themselves and their ancestral lands, from the herdsmen and invaders. |

creamyzone: Oga akure does not have an airport. What they have is an airstrip where private jets can land. Have you ever heard or seen any akure airport before. The only functional airport closest to ekiti is in ilorin where commercial flights are operated. Its a good one by fayose as it will create more jobs in the state and boost their tourism industry as foreigners who don't like traveling by road can now fly into ekiti. Tourism will inturn bring more revenue for the state government.
fayose is also planning to build a world class shopping mall where the likes of shoprite and other foreign brands will operate. So consumable goods and cargo will come in through this airport. This will also create many direct and indirect jobs. I am not from ekiti state but will commend this man as the man of the people. Aregbesola and some other governors are busy building religious centres and buying private jets when salaries have not been paid. Other state governors should emulate the giant strides of fayose in a small state with little resources like ekiti. God bless Nigeria Guy, whether it is airstrip or airport, the fact still remains that the Akure aerodrome can take scheduled and non-scheduled flights. It has 2.8 kilometers runway, capable of handling Boeing 737 aircraft, Dornier planes, Embraer business jets, Bombardier Challenger, the Dassault Falcon, Hawker Beechcraft and the Cessna etc., with standard fire prevention facilities and operational radar equipment. It is ideal for small cargo planes as well. There are even a few African countries whose airports are not as big as Akure airports, so what is the issue?? The same Akure airport is underutilised, and FAAN is crying out loudly, because it is not earning revenue from it. Someone should advise Fayose to desist from his foolhardy white elephant project. He should focus on getting Shoprite mall into the city, but should advise them to use Akure airport for their cargo. Nigerian Manager Decries Low Patronage into Akure Airport by Oyise Oghene
The airport manager in charge of Akure airport in Ondo state, Mrs. Victoria Shin-Aba has decried the state of flight activity into the facility describing it as poor and negatively affecting the revenue generation drive from the aerodrome.
She said the facility is one of the airports under the control of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) only records three weekly flights with an average number of between 20 and 30 passengers traffic operated by Associated airlines on the Akure-Abuja route.
While affirming that discussions are at advanced stage with other airlines on the possibility to kick start shuttle flight operations from Lagos into the state capital, she told reporters that “We need more flights and more airlines to come to Akure airport. There is no life here with the level of operations”.
Also she said the timely completion of the abandoned airport terminal for over six months will help put a breathe new life into the place, and appeals to the federal government to order the contractor back to site with a view to completing the terminal building.....
... She explained that with a 2.8 kilometers runway, the airport was capable of handling a B737 aircraft adding that the airport has a standard fire tender.
On security put in place at the airport, the manager said “We make sure that we are in control of the operational area and try to make sure that we secure it because we have the largest land mass as an airport. I stopped people farming around the airport and demolished all the camps within the operational area.” http://biztellers.com/2012/05/nigerian-manager-decries-low-patronage-into-akure-airport/ When GEJ visited Ondo State in 2011, he landed at Akure airport. When Rotimi Amaechi wanted to monitor the elections in Ekiti in 2014, he landed at Akure airport and went by road to Ado-Ekiti, but was stopped midway by soldiers who asked him to go back. Stella Oduah had scheduled Akure airport for a facelift and an upgrade of the terminal building, when she was Aviation Minister, but unfortunately she left her seat before the job could be completed. |

Please post a link to the federal govt source which states that all the 36 states are to have an airport! I can understand having a train station in each state capital, but an airport?? Chai! Instead of him to look for the nearest river in Ekiti, dredge it and make it a good port for high-calibre ferry services, that would carry 100 passengers at a go from Ekiti to Lagos in one hour using the latest hovercraft! He would even make more money, sef! |

wandy4G: Hey man! We should stop looking at one side of the coin. The social status of the people notwithstanding, the effects and benefits are too enormous. It will surely in the long run turn to a SOP Am not an Ekiti man, so maybe I should not put my mouth...but abeg, stop misleading Fayose in this macabre dance of failure that he has embarked upon. Which silly benefits and effects are going to accrue to his state, concerning this project? The benefits that did NOT accrue to Ondo State, despite the presence of an airport on their turf in Akure, since the mid-nineties? The benefits that did not accrue to Ilorin in Kwara State, despite the presence of an airport in their town? The benefits that did not accrue to Oyo State despite the presence of an airport in Ibadan? Abeg, you guys should stop this ego trip. Ekiti cannot even afford to set up an airport! How much is their IGR?? Jeez! Abbeyme: Pls educate us of the benefits...
Ibadan has an airport for many years, how many aircraft land in Ibadan.
There is another airport in Akure, how has that made Akure a mega City.....
Before you venture into a cost-intensive project, you first get the market to sell your products, Haba... Biko, make una help me tell am, jare! I don't know why the Ekiti people are letting Fayose take them on a ride to a fools' paradise..chai! |

Like it or not, they need lagos to grow their industrialized skills no doubt, but at the same time, they should hold on to the power that be.APC!!!!!, not a yoruba though!just speaking from an objective point of view, refute if you care...............,, The SE governors should just do more to develop their region, and turn it into the hub of industrialisation. This would change the migration pattern of the Igbo traders, hopefully. Anyway, it depends on them. |

THE STRATEGY OF GRAZING RESERVES AS AN EXPANSIONIST TOOL
Read the rest here: https://atiterkula./2015/05/07/the-3rs-of-grazing-viz-rights-routes-and-reserves-the-fulani-invasion-sacking-and-occupation-of-the-middle-belt-states-of-nigeria-from-the-perspective-of-a-continental-islamic-agenda-the/ Those wondering why advocates of creating grazing fields or routes for the Fula have suddenly gone quiet, need to realise that it appears to be an unworkable concept. |

The 3Rs of Grazing Viz.:- Rights, Routes and Reserves, : the Fulani Invasion, Sacking and Occupation of the Middle Belt States of Nigeria from the Perspective of A Continental Islamic Agenda:
THE BATTLE FOR THE MIDDLE BELT AND A SOUTHWARDS ADVANCE
.... While these insinuations may be debatable, it is obvious that an Islamic campaign to take over Nigeria will not be complete until the Jihadists reach the shores of the Atlantic down south. But to get to this point, their way must pass through the Middle Belt or Central Nigeria, hence the need to overrun the minority tribes in that region.
Curiously, the Middle Belt Region has continuously being relevant and strategic to the agenda of the Islamic Northern Oligarchy, whether those ambitions are religious, economic, political or ethnic, or even when they are harmonized. Needless to say, conquering and subduing this region became a primary project of the Sokoto Caliphate and the expanded Islamic Northern Oligarchy.
As a vast region with multiple minorities, who were themselves heavily polarized, it seemed quite an easy task to be accomplished, considering how even more organized and secure kingdoms and cities in the north had been earlier overran. Contrary to their thinking, however, this seemingly simple task was to become the most perplexing.
It started with the 19th century Jihads. The Jihadists advance was seemingly easy until they hit the region. Some of the tribes were an easy walk over. Some seemingly surrendered at the sight of an intimidating cavalry of bloodthirsty, sword wielding jihadists. Some put up a fight, adopting different strategies of war to no avail.
One tribe, however, did not shrink back and was not subdued. That was the Tiv. They were known for their unrivaled hospitality but also equally fearless in the face of hostilities when attacked. They were not really known for expansionism but would fiercely defend their land and families from external invasion.
They were able to successfully repel the Fulani advance, through their strategy of poisoned arrows against sword-wielding Fulani. Their answer to the snorting war horses was also to dig trenches strategically around their fortes and retreat into the hills from where there well-aimed arrows hardly missed their mark.
Their victory was not just one for the Tiv people nor the other minority tribes in the region alone, it was also a great victory, and a debt owed them by the other tribes south of Tiv country who would have been annihilated by the ravaging Fulani Jihadists.
Having successfully checked the advance of the jihadists, the Fulani vowed to be back. They were yet to return when colonialism interrupted them by checking their activities. It was an interruption they highly resented. For once, they were also subdued and tamed. It seemed from then that their clamour for independence was not so much to build one nation Nigeria, but to have the liberty to resume their campaign. Read the rest here: https://atiterkula./2015/05/07/the-3rs-of-grazing-viz-rights-routes-and-reserves-the-fulani-invasion-sacking-and-occupation-of-the-middle-belt-states-of-nigeria-from-the-perspective-of-a-continental-islamic-agenda-the/ While some folks are just busy belly-aching here, other tribes have been pitting their wits, strength and brawn against the Fulani for ages, in a bid to secure their homelands, and repel the invaders. May their tribe increase. And may God save us all. |
