shymexx: @ bold - that's the truth.

Most of these naija chics are sluts - they just love fvcking around, yet they're the most pretentious slags you will ever meet. Heck, the sanctimonious ones among them are actually the worst. I don't take them seriously, to be honest. Once I chat to them for a bit, I see through all the facade...and just play dumb. grin

This must be a joke! We have so many different types of accents in Nigeria. Which one exactly, are they referring to?

Is it the Oyo accent, or the Igbo accent, the Edo accent, the Fulani accent, the Efik accent or what? shocked I don't get it oh! This is because, there is no such thing as a "Nigerian" accent! We have as many different accents, as there are tribes...

Have you heard Nigerians from different ethnic groups speak English? Can you compare the accent of the Bassa trader, with that of the Ibibio fisherman? huh

Or can you compare Ogbeni Aregbesola's accent in Osun, with that of Liyel Imoke of Cross River? Aren't they different?

How won't they exclude Nigeria, when our Health Minister made a statement about how he would spend the proposed huge sum of money targeted at the Ebola virus, buying cars once it is disbursed by the FG. Can you imagine!! angry

Do you think the WHO and other international bodies were sleeping when he made that declaration? Those guys must have thought that any money given to Nigeria, would end up the same way - to be spent building up Onyebuchi Chukwu's dream FMoH dream fleet of cars! shocked

Politics › Re: SCANDALOUS: Outrage In Nigeria As Government Brands National ID Card With Master by laudate: 11:01pm On Sep 18, 2014
I don't understand why Nigerians are stressing themselves over this Mastercard/NIMC National ID Card issue.

Just sign-up for the card & make sure that any bank account that your ID Card is linked to, never has more than =N=500 (five hundred naira) in it, at any point in time. Then, keep dropping =N=50 naira in it once every month, to keep it from going dormant. wink

That way, any info on your account becomes uninteresting to those who get the data, if your ID card details fall into the wrong hands. Afterall, who would want to hack into a poor man's account? grin

Secondly, make sure the bulk of your money is kept in accounts that are NOT linked to your national ID Card. cool

Finally, after getting the ID card, change your physical or home address. Ensure that the address on your card, is different from the one where you actually reside. One cannot be too careful, these days. cool If possible, during registration, use a post office box number.

Ye-ee-ess! wink Afterall, cunny man die, cunny man bury am! grin
Health › Re: Health Min. Onyebuchi Chukwu Deserves Commendation For His Fight Against Ebola. by laudate:
Konquest: @ALL @ uchedydy

Onyebuchi Chukwu will ONLY get 1% from me because he allowed ebola into Nigeria via a National gateway [Murtala Mohd. Airport in Lagos]after he lied earlier this year in the media [AIT et al] that measures had been taken by the Federal government to curtail ebola's spread to Nigeria ................
...................

I must add that the people on the front lines are to be given more credit than this minister of health who I consider to be the worst minister of health in recent memory - I'm in my 40s and and can conveniently prove this.

The people on the front lines in Lagos such as the Members of WHO, Nigerian Volunteers and medical doctors, member of the CENTRE FOR DISEASE CONTROL USA, Dr. Adadevoh and her staff, Lagos State Government for providing the money that was used to treat ebola patients single-handed without Federal Support until they got a belated N200 million on Wednesday 27th August 2014 after ebola in Lagos had been sucessfully managed DESERVE TO BE COMMENDED NOT Onyebuchi Chukwu WHO ONLY takes information collected from the Lagos and PH Commisioners of Health and then goes on National TV to take credit for what he has NOT been involved in.

Enough said! angry
WORD!! Here comes the Voice of truth and reason. Please come here and collect a royal handshake, jare!

In another country, Onyebuchi Chukwu would have donned an 'Hamzat' PPE suit and entered the isolation ward, in order to comfort the patients and even administer some of the prescribed drugs to them.

This would have sent a strong signal to the populace about the seriousness with which he viewed the Ebola case, and how strongly he wanted the patients to get well. He would even have scored some cheap points for GEJ's administration. But what did he do? He just read press releases on national TV like a fresh undergraduate every single day, using figures given to him by the LASG Ministry of Health and the RVSG health personnel. And the OP wants to give him an award for that??! shocked mtcheeww angry

The man needs to be taught the nuts and bolts, on what it takes to run a proper healthcare system in a sovereign country!! angry
Romance › Re: On Why The “Beautiful” Ones Are Still Single… by laudate: 12:43am On Sep 18, 2014
Going through this thread, it is obvious that a lot of posters have decided that the reason a lot of beautiful girls are still single, is because they are arrogant, snobbish and promiscuous.

It is not always true. One should look at all sides of the coin. sad

Promiscuity has little to do with beauty. In my opinion, I have seen a lot of plain girls that are promiscuous. Some of them feel that because they fall short in the 'looks' department, they have to flaunt their other 'God-given' assets around quite liberally, in order to hook a man. Before a man says, "how do you do?" They are quite happy to say 'I do!' shocked

I have seen beautiful girls that are quite humble, simple, unassuming and ready to listen to any polite gentle man that seeks to have an audience with them. I have also seen plain girls that are cast in the same mould. It cuts both ways.

Let me share a real-life example with you. I had a female classmate in university who was quite pretty. A real stunning chick. She had a huge chunk of admirers, but she fell for this poor ,but hard working young man who often came round to our campus to visit his younger sister. He spotted my classmate, chased her and to cut the long story short, finally caught her. They dated on and off for several years. Everyone assumed they were altar bound. undecided Both of them came from different ethnic groups.

He was her very first boyfriend, and she was ever so faithful to this guy. sad Anyway, by the time she was about to clock 30, she started dropping subtle hints about how it was way past time for the guy to go and see her parents.

He kept resisting, using his financial situation as an excuse. He kept saying he didn't have enough money to take on a wife. When she finally got tired, she issued an ultimatum, thinking it would bring him to his senses. For where??! huh

The guy stylishly turned round and dumped her, and less than 3 months later, married another girl from his tribe. cry We later heard that his parents had threatened to disown him, if he brought home any girl that was not from their own part of the country. angry

My classmate almost had a nervous breakdown. cryThis guy was her 1st and only boyfriend, for so many years. Now she is almost clocking 40, but she is still unmarried as she has found it difficult to pick up the pieces of her life. She keeps wondering if the men really like her for who she is, or if they are just going to use and dump her, like her ex- did.

There are so many reasons why beautiful girls remain single, which has nothing to do with pride.

It could be due to :

a). Rejection from their suitor's parents, who want their sons to marry within their own ethnic group;

b). It could be due to genotype incompatibility (e.g. AS vs. AS sub-groups that could give rise to sickle cell children); lipsrsealed

c); Spiritual issues (e.g. ancestral / generational matters etc);

d). Medical problems etc,

Abeg, the list dey long!
Politics › Re: GEJ's New Nigeria: NRC Lures Elites To The Tracks With New-look Trains (Pic) by laudate:
Sincere9gerian: : Recent developments in Nigeria’s railway have gone far in showing that resuscitation of national infrastructure can be cheaply achieved. The Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) is beating the imagination of most people, leaping from one feat to the next in a shorter time than expected and has continued to maintain appreciable doggedness in its determination to stabilise the railway transport system in the country.

The latest of the corporation’s comeback feat is its acquisition of two air-conditioned Diesel Multiple Units (DMUs), railway coaches that herald a complete deviation from the conventional coaches...
Sincere9gerian: No one has said there are no challenges BUT we must first acknowledge where we were yesterday, we where are today, and then talk of where we hope to be tomorrow.

The FACTS are that as at 2009, ALL the trains were GROUNDED in Nigeria. Meaning, NRC was moribund. Meaning, there was no movement of train anywhere in Nigeria, besides the Kaduna intra-city train services that was being sponsored by the Kaduna state govt, then led by Sambo, the current vice president..
He-ell-o! shocked The trains started running since January 2012 and you are here almost 2 years later in September 2014, still congratulating GEJ’s foot soldiers in the NRC , for resuscitating the railways.

How long do you expect people to continue sitting on one spot, drinking ‘burukutu’ and ‘kai-kai’, singing praises for the revival of the railways, when your counterparts in other G8 countries are going ahead to break new grounds and scale higher mountains?

Secondly, what is the quality of the trains and the coaches that were revived and offered to the populace? It reminds me of a woman celebrating the fact that her 3 year old son has finally started crawling (as if it is a feat that no other person alive has ever achieved), while conveniently ignoring the fact that his mates in the same age bracket are already walking, running and jumping! shocked

Sincere9gerian: In fact, not just that trains were not moving, the railways were not just dilapidated, but people had already built all sorts of structures on the right of way of NRC facilities. And yes, I have the details about that which I can provide if you want.
We have heard! What next??!! The people that built structures on the railway lines, did so with the active connivance of NRC officials way back then, who deliberately turned a blind eye to the antics of the trespassers. Otherwise, why didn’t they prosecute the offenders? Till date, how many people have been clamped into jail for illegally occupying NRC property, or for encroaching and trespassing on NRC facilities? Provide the details, please since you have them. undecided

Or is it that GEJ’s NRC foot soldiers just smacked them on the wrist and asked them to go and sin no more?

Sincere9gerian: Fast forward to 2014, now we have Lagos-kano express train services. Now we have intra-city Lagos train services moving about 16,000 passengers daily within Lagos. Now the trains are being used to haul cement, flour, diesel, etc to the north from southwest. Now we have 2 recently purchased modern looking DMU trains, with more being expected in the next few weeks. Now, the govt is on the verge of completing the first standard guage railway in Nigeria since 1914, which is the Abuja-Kaduna railway.

That and many more is what is called PROGRESS. Any fair and apolitical analysis of the situation must first acknowledge the PROGRESS that has been made before highlighting the remaining challenges and how to go about solving them.
If you ask me, most of the challenges in the sector which you rightly highlighted can only be solved by the NRC having PPP arrangement whereby the private sector is allowed to run the day to day activities of the NRC. The attitude of the average Nigerian to any 'govt work' is BAD. And I think privatisation, concessioning, etc are part of the 25 years master plan of the railway transformation agenda. In the end, what happened to the power sector will also happen in the railway sector.
Ah, this your definition of progress made me laugh. grin You have become fixated with acknowledging this ‘progress’ for the past 2 years, that you have refused to admit the inherent deficiencies and defects that have dogged the so-called progress, you keep waving like a flag.

Since 2012, the trains have been crawling rather than moving, so please stop using the word ‘express’ next time you mention the Lagos-Kano route. sad

In August 2013, it was reported by Business Day Newspaper that this same train service took about 48 hours to deliver passengers to their destination in Kano from Lagos. It departed on Friday July the 19th four hours behind schedule, and entered Kano on Sunday July 21 at 3:30pm.

In December 2013, the Vanguard reported that passengers on this route spent 43 hours to get from Lagos to Kano.
Since then a journey which should not take more than 22 hours, has fluctuated from 33 hours to 48 hours. Instead, of finding a permanent solution to this problem, your people in the NRC have engaged you to keep celebrating the fact that the trains have been revived for the past two years.

From day 1, the same complaints of overcrowded coaches, snail speed locomotives, filthy toilets that constitute a health hazard to passengers and lack of communication have dogged the NRC for the past 2 years. Yet nothing has been done. Instead, of finding a permanent solution, NRC is busy propagating its ‘train revival’. Forgive me, if I do not join your thanksgiving.

Don't even let me get started on the DMUs. I doubt if bankers will be able to board the DMU as part of their daily commute.

Bankers are expected to resume in their offices between 7:15am and 7:30 am, while they close from work between 5:30pm and 6:00pm, even though the banking hall is shut for business at 4pm. Workers still have to do end-of-day posting & reconciliation before leaving. Yet, NRC has not factored this into its daily train schedule, and it expects to attract this crop of workers to use the DMU trains. Na dem sabi.

I wish NRC a lot of luck, because it is so obvious that they need it since they don’t know what it takes to run a modern train service. sad

Sincere9gerian: And I think privatisation, concessioning, etc are part of the 25 years master plan of the railway transformation agenda. In the end, what happened to the power sector will also happen in the railway sector
We have had so many masterplans over the past few decades in this country that never saw the light of day. Most of the time, our problem is not planning, but execution. Please, if NRC cannot train, control & motivate its staff to do the jobs they are being paid for, then its' management should resign honourably.

Everyone keeps touting 'privatisation' as if it is a magic wand. Soon, someone will say the job of ruling Nigeria should be privatised.... shocked
