As for Ademoyega's book, not to worry. I have read it and he said a lot about the coup he and Nzeogwu and Ifeajuna plotted. See this clown! Unlike you, whose life begins and ends on Nairaland, some of us actually have interesting jobs and attractive side hustles, that fetch us good money. We only log back into NL, from time to time to unwind and amuse ourselves by reading clueless posts, such as your own. Your response has shown that your IQ is on the same level, as that of a kindergarten pupil. Sorry o, a few Yoruba slangs cannot disguise the fact, that you need to improve your ability to read and comprehend facts. Anyway, I have given you my advice. Take it or leave it. gbadexy: Just as you have your own color preference and choice, so does others. That's the reason it's very rare for 2 different clients to choose similar colors. The pink is a family of furcial or sexy pink most favored by women, though this is uniquely different from the regular furcial pink. The picture catalog it was chosen from also was for that of a room. When you want to do yours, we could do it your shade of pink for you It is called fuschia, not ' furcial or sexy pink.' Most women often prefer pastel shades for bedroom walls from my experience, even though they don't mind using fuschia pink for their fabrics, and outfits. A bedroom is meant to be restful place, which is why pastel colours and light shades are often chosen for the walls. Such shades of colour do not put a strain on the eyes. Anyway, like you said it is their choice. They would have to live with it. A client of mine recently chose a dark shade of magenta for his walls. When I advised against it, he insisted. After the project was completed and he wanted to rent the place out, it took a while as several prospective clients were put off by the colour. The client who eventually rented the place, repainted the walls, the minute he moved in. |

At the time they were admitted, their medical school had partial or interim accreditation. They had to fulfil certain conditions to get full accreditation, but then the authorities never did so, and that partial accreditation was withdrawn. |

officialviaj: I am a kogi state university medical student. I got admitted to study medicine in 2012 and for the past 6years I have been in 300level, we have been hearing stories from both the government and the school, "that we are working on it", "we should read our books". We have stagnated and suffered emotionally. I weep daily!. The last governor of kogi state Governor Idris Wada, instead of upgrading the secondary health facility in the university village(kogi state diagnostic hospital in anyigba) to a teaching hospital he went and started his own pet project (build a new hospital from the scratch) which he didn't complete, it's now an abandoned project. The new Governor of the state, Governor Yahaya Bello set up a committee for accreditation of the college of medicine and for the past 4years he has been in power I tell you my reader no block has been laid, and I don't know if I would graduate in the next 10years. Some medical students have even threaten to commit suicide because of the humiliation and frustration. We are frustrated and our parents are in pains.... Help share this post as much as possible let people know about our plight. #saveksumedicine #saveksumeds #fairplusfairaccreditation This is very unfair. But then Kogi state was not blessed with a good governor, but a self-serving narcissist like Yahaya Bello, who knows nothing about governance. In the past, if certain courses are not accredited, the affected university would liaise with other universities whose courses in the same field have been accredited, to transfer their students to such places, to complete their studies. Several years ago, when one or two courses in Unilorin had the same problem, their students were transferred to University of Ibadan to finish up their studies. KSU authorities should consider this option, instead of letting their medical students suffer till eternity.... |

Same logic applies for Microbiology grad from UI. If we must talk about people studying courses we need as a nation then private people should be left out and the subsidized grad should be considered first. Govt is suppose to create enabling environment for job creation and not direct jobs. Then you later switched to talking about Computer Engineers. Zoologist, Biochemist, Computer Engineers, Electrical Engr etc are other fields where govts subsidizes people to acquire skills we need badly as a nation but allow them slip through the system into ridiculous jobs. Your ignorance is just growing by the minute. And instead of admitting that you do not know what you are talking about, you are just clutching at straws. A zoologist and a biochemist studies a number of microbiology courses at undergraduate level, but their sphere of work is much wider than that of a microbiologist. The cost of setting up business in these fields, are quite high. And fresh graduates do not have access to the kind of funds to do that. Like I said earlier: "Equipment for preserving tissues, samples and/or histological specimens at specific temperatures, are also vital. So is the maintenance of these equipment. Go to hospitals, breweries, food and beverage companies, pharmaceutical firms and ask them how much it cost to set up the smallest labs they have. They would definitely give you a cost running into millions. No reputable client worth his salt, who values accuracy and thoroughness, would give you a job, if he cannot visit your lab and check it out first. And if they get to your lab and see just a microscope, titrating pipes, PPE and pipettes, they would laugh you to scorn!"Did you ask your friend who owns one of the most advanced labs in Delta, how much he spent to equip it and set it up? The figure would run into millions, if he included standard equipment such as the one in my last post. So where does a fresh graduate get millions to set up a lab with functional equipment including digital microscopes, in order to go into private practice, or set up a business venture in his field? The only sensible thing you said was about Computer engineers (and maybe electrical engineers). But for electrical engineers, i am aware that some of the tools required in their profession, can be quite expensive and hard to maintain. |

Its my parents that owed me a living not the other way round. I can only take care of her if she took care of me, I lack the core care every parent can give their kids all because she chose religion over us. I don't know why people failed to see my point. You have obviously come to NL to vent, and not to seek advice or take on board useful tips, to improve your situation. You claim that "Its my parents that owed me a living not the other way round. I can only take care of her if she took care of me, I lack the core care every parent can give their kids all because she chose religion over us...." Let me ask: Before she chose religion over you, didn't she take care of you to some extent? Or was it the second day she gave birth to you, that she started choosing religion over you? You have been through a lot, and I admire your courage, but please try to be less resentful. Her behaviour is not normal, and some knowledgeable people have pointed it out clearly, that she needs medical assistance to improve her mental health. Instead of showing sympathy at the very least, you are busy condemning her and waving some misguided sense of entitlement! Grow up, please! Don't allow resentment to cloud your sense of judgement please. I know it is hard, but try. Doesn't she have brothers, sisters, uncles, cousins or aunts that can help out, and assist you to take her to see a clinical psychologist? Doctors from Army Reference Medical Hospital in Yaba came to give a lecture in our office, a few months back, about the dangers of stress, and how it affects the human mind. They mentioned that discovery of unfaithfulness in one's spouse could lead to a shock, which could cause depression or other forms of mental illness. So everyone was advised to take their mental and physical health issues seriously. I think you should contact them if you live in Lagos, as they might be able to guide you further, on how to take care of your mum. People with debilitating challenges in their mental health status, find it difficult to concentrate, process logical thought, hold down a job, or handle a business. A physically challenged person with sound mental health, is still far better off than a mentally or psychologically challenged individual. Google it! Abandoning your mum to her fate, or ignoring her is not going to solve the problem. If she even leaves that church today, her condition might not improve if something is not done, to erase the brainwashing she has received over the years. Whatever she becomes tomorrow, will still fall back on you, either physically or psychologically. The public would still point fingers at you, because they know you as her son. May God give you wisdom, strength and adequate assistance, to surmount it all. |

Her inability to contribute to the well being of the family is the result of her decision to stop working, She's been jobless for two decades under the pretence of becoming born again, and she's not really serving the God she left everything for cos her intolerance for others is far from anything Christlike. Listen, it appears your mom has some kind of mild psychological disturbance. It sounds like she suffers from mood swings etc. This could be caused by various factors. Please ensure that she sees a clinical psychologist, or a consultant psychiatrist. She might have to be placed on medication, to restore her sense of well-being. Just like you have physical illnesses like malaria, high blood pressure or even joint pains, a person can also have psychological imbalances caused by stress, hormonal imbalance, depression and a wide variety of factors. Don't blame her. Assist her to get the medical care and help, she needs. Good luck. eleojo23: Looking at her age, the feelings of paranoia and irrational behaviour are signs that she might be going through a rough menopause. For some women, it starts as early as age 40.
In this phase, such women act as if they have bipolar disorder and they begin to carry their religious beliefs to the extreme because they think they have a heightened sixth sense and that they can see what everyone else is not seeing. All these can make life difficult for her family members and it really takes a lot of patience to cope with them during this phase
If you can convince her to see a doctor, he may be able to help her with hormone replacement therapy. Mindfulness: Ezkid,

The love story between the two is not your usual ‘Romeo and Juliet’ one. They met in 1992 at a bank where Mary was working, Alibaba had gone to open an account and Mary was in charge of customer care at the time. Later on, a friend of Ali Baba who was also Mary’s cousin introduced them.
After dating for sometime and having a child together, they parted ways for several years and in 1998Ali Baba met and married his now ex wife Patricia Leon, their marriage ended in2003.
All through his marriage to Patricia, Ali Baba and Mary remained friends even when he was with Leon because they had a daughter together.

With nine years of marriage together, the comedian posted this message on Instagram on marriage and celebrating his wife:
Here’s what the comedian had to say about marriage. “Happy Wedding Anniversary to us… It’s been a story of both ends… Sadness and joy, rich and poor, yes and no, here and there, fight and play, this and that, laugh and cry, hope and despair, high and low, yours and mine, plenty and scarce, friends and foes, we and them, good and bad… But here and now… We are still here forever and ever”. http://onobello.com/we-are-still-here-forever-ali-babas-message-on-9th-wedding-anniversary-to-wife-mary/ |

This was a man who was not Fulani he came from a smaller village in Bauchi he can't even be described as ethnically Hausa yet he was able to unite a divergent north under one umbrella, he worked to set up industry- textile mills, leather tanning, cotton, groundnuts and farming within a short period, the Awos of this world were busing playing the same game in the south-west while the greed of Zik got the better of him, he was president but was also insisting on winning portions of the south-west.
In terms of public speaking Zik spoke well but where would you place great orators like Nkrumah and Nyerere who were substantially more intelligent and established effective Afro-centric socialist systems. That "great Zik of Africa" term is not befitting because the man has no legacy of note within the SE not to even extend much beyond the borders of Nigeria. Oh, it has been a long time since i read something so interesting! May the wisdom God put in your life, never diminish! Here's a toast to your good health......https://topicstock.pantip.com/library/topicstock/2009/01/K7395555/K7395555-107.jpg |

igbodefender: I still don't believe you have read Ademoyega's book on why they plotted 1966 coup. Give us a brief, on-the-spot synopsis on the book if you can. You don't believe I have read the book? You must be the joker of the century. Ok, drop your address here, so I can send a copy to you by courier. If I decide to write a synopsis for you, it means your teachers did a poor job of educating you, because your lack of reading and comprehensions skills, would then be exposed. Shey, you get? |

igbodefender: What you are exhibiting here is a malady of ethnic haters who see only what they want to see and throw away the rest of the facts. Again, I ask you to go get a copy of Colonel Wale Ademoyega's book Why We Struck, and this time read it s-l-o-w-l-y so the import of the book may have a better chance of sipping through.
Apart from shifting goal posts, it is noticed you also have a compulsive predilection for semantic nit-picking. Now that is disingenuous because you don't expect us to be dumb sheep or pigs or something. Hehehehe....I saw this coming. Whenever anyone disagrees with your perspective on any subject, you and your clique are quick to play the victim card, by alleging ethnic hatred. When will you grow up? This was a simple discussion about coup plotters and Awolowo, all of a sudden you have jumped up to make wild and false allegations claiming that it is a 'malady of ethnic haters who see only what they want to see and throw away the rest of the facts.' Wubbish of the highest order. I have read Ademoyega's book from cover to cover. I can even give you a list of other books, that would shed more light on the fact that Ademoyega dwelt more in the realm of conjecture and rhetoric, than facts. Please educate yourself, and match brake on top this your tales by moonlight. Different books on the events that took place at that time, need to be read along with other accounts of the coup, in order to compare the different perspectives, so that readers can draw their own conclusions. Please read the following: 1). Oil, Politics and Violence: Nigeria's Military Coup Culture (1966-1976) by Max Siollun Published by Algora Publishing (2009) 268pp. ISBN-13: 978-0875867083 ISBN-10: 0875867081 Read the review here: https://maxsiollun./my-book/ According to Nigerian scholars in 2011, over 69 books and pamphlets, 53 government publications, 3 bibliographies and various theses have been published on the different coups in this country, as well as the subsequent 30 month long Nigerian Civil War which took place between 1967 and 1970. In the US, over 2,000 books were written about their own civil war. So there is still a need to write more. People need to tell their stories about what happened during that period, because in the words of Chimamanda Adichie "we all remember differently." |

olapluto: She did PhD for 6 years? I also just checked some of her publications and the journals she published in. I wont want to be a killjoy, so I will say nothing about the publications. However, Covenant Uni, while ticking the box, is not necessarily doing it right. When you pay to publish an article, then you're sort of buying recognition. I still respect articles published in reputable journals by Nigerian univerisities no matter how scant, to those plenty paid publications. HigherEd: She is just a graduate assistant lol. There are GAs in public universities that don't even have a single publication to their names.
Pls tell me exactly what is wrong with pay to publish articles? And in what way are they buying recognition?
And no shed didn't do PhD for 6 years. She started in 2014. Did those articles carry any peer review? Before any articles are accepted by serious journals, they are reviewed and critiqued by eminent scholars from the same field. Was that done in her case? Just asking. |

igbodefender: You like shifting goal posts, clearly. Your argument is non compos mentis. Go and read up the meaning of 'support' in the dictionary if you have one, and stop this your half baked propaganda 'technique'. Goal post shifting as a form of propaganda rarely works in the 21st century. igbodefender: Go and read Why We Struck by Wale Ademoyega to get more facts on the January 1966 coup. He outlines the background of the coup quite insightfuly.
Those colonels would have been more should have resigned and campaigned for election to achieve their goal. No, you are the one who has been shifting goal posts and recycling propaganda from day 1. Thank God, everyone here can read. Educate yourself, by learning what the word support means. You were the one who started waving around Ezeife's garrulous unverified comments, in an attempt to build up a silly fallacious argument, about how the coup was meant to be in favour of Awolowo. Thank God your lies were exposed, and your nefarious scheme, defeated. Ademoyega's book only contains watery excuses for his role in the coup. It was short on facts, and rather long on rhetoric. What can one expect from someone who was brought in at the last minute, and was not privy to the planning and scheming of those who actually designed & instigated the coup, from the very beginning?

Capt Bob Hayes, Nigeria's first pilot, turns 80
In May 1955, at the age of 20 years, Capt. Hayes became the first Nigerian to get certified as a pilot with the Commercial Pilot License and returned to Nigeria in June 1955, to join the West Africa Airways Corporation, WAAC. Between 1956 and 1960, the young Nigerian pilots in WAAC were allowed to fly as co-pilots on the local routes, along with the British and Europeans pilots. They were flying the B170, B114 and B104 aircraft.

In 1962, Robert Hayes and Rufus Orimoloye were sent for the Senior Commercial Pilot License training, where they were made to fly the DC3 aircraft. While in training, they were promoted captains. When they returned home, they were asked to go for further training on F27 aircraft which the country’s airline, Nigeria Airways, had acquired.
First Nigerian pilot to fly into New York:
The Nigerian pilots were able to start flying the international routes eventually in 1962, when the Nigeria Airways was formed. Captain Hayes also became the first Nigerian pilot to fly into New York, and served as acting managing director of the defunct national carrier, Nigeria Airways. Many pilots at that time passed through the supervision of Captain Bob Hayes. He retired in 1990 after attaining the mandatory 35 years in service.

He worked on contract as a training captain and examiner, thereafter. Captain Hayes flew for 40 years in control and four years on contract consulting for Nigeria Airways. One of his younger pilots in Nigeria Airways who rose to become Director of Operations, Capt. Dele Ore, had this to say of Capt Hayes: “Capt. Bob Hayes is my respected senior and a motivator. He went through a lot while fighting for us his younger pilots. He is a well respected airman.’’

Experts believe that his era was the golden generation of pilots in the country, at a time Nigerian pilots were rated some of the best in the world. In his time, Nigeria witnessed fewer number of air incidents and accidents because the adherence of pilots at the time to standard operating procedures spelt out by both the civil aviation authority in the country and the International Civil Aviation Organisation, ICAO.

igbodefender: Common, a coup plotter is a coup plotter. Last minute or first minute. The same fate awaits them if it fails. So please bring up another argument. You were the one who tried to use Ademoyega's name to prop up your weak argument. A coup leader can never be the same as a coup participant/follower, recruited at the last minute. The leader has more facts, info and resources at his fingertips, than a mere follower, even if the same fate befalls them all. |
