Who said Awolowo recruited them? Maybe you. There is no evidence to suggest that Awolowo recruited them.

But there is ample evidence to suggest that the plotters, Wale Ademoyega, Kaduna Nzeogwu and Ifeanyi Ifeajuna planned to use their January 1966 coup to spring Awolowo from jail where he was after being convicted of coup plotting in 1962 and make him Prime Minister.

And we are saying these dudes should have resigned from the military and joined Awolowo's party to campaign for him instead of trying to use force.
You see, when you persist in recycling lies, it makes you look thoroughly silly. undecided You claimed they were military supporters of Awolowo, not so? How? When and where was this so-called support drawn up, to engage the services of Ifeajuna, Nzeogwu and his clique? huh It was simply an idea conceived in the minds of Ifeajuna, Nzeogwu and co. Awolowo was NEVER a part of it, and had never expressed a desire for their support. So what crap are you recycling here? shocked

T9ksy:
Una don start again, huh. which ethnic divide are u reffering to? The inner circle of the coupists comprises of one yoruba and four Igbo Majors. And this constitute your idea of "cutting across the ethnic divide within the country"? I beg, carry go jo with your twisting all logic on its head, ojare. Its a pity/coincidence that the killings didn't "cut across the ethnic divide within the country"  grin

Here we go, again. No way could Ademoyega be made to wear the toga of "leader of the coup". Yeah, he was the co-ordinator but that does not make him the "leader". To put it bluntly, what influence does one yoruba major have over four igbo majors, two of whom (Nzeogwu and Ifeajunna) were his senior in rank. He was the last major to be recruited and at the eleventh hr so by no stretch of the imagination can Ademoyega be conferred with that hideous title "leader".
Onibara  e nba ole bo. Your beggar is surreptitiously morphing into an armed bandit!!!

Another fallacy. Major Ifeajunna was the original creator of the coup. Ademoyega was recruited at the last minute, probably as an afterthought to give a semblance of the coup "cutting across the ethnic divide within the country".

source pls grin
The Police report stated differently.

Nzeogwu coup was meant to install Awolowo as Prime Minister of Nigeria – Dr Ezeife

A former governor of Anambra State, Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife has disclosed that the failed Major Nzeogwu-led coup of 1966 was never an Igbo coup, stressing that it was meant to install Chief Obafemi Awolowo as the Prime Minister of Nigeria.

He made this known at the second day of the Igbo-Israeli Economic Summit titled South East Youth Economic Summit 2016 (SEYES 2016) which ended in Enugu yesterday.

Ezeife asserted that “it is not true that Igbos plotted the 1966 coup. The coup was planned by some elements within the military disenchanted with the drift of Nigeria who felt that Awolowo was in the best position to move Nigeria forward. The problem was that the execution of the coup got awry at some axis and everybody now claimed it was Igbo coup.”

He stated further that “the coup failed and General Ironsi carved provinces in Nigeria to help each group govern themselves better. They said that he was running a unitary system and killed him, yet Nigeria s practicing the same system for which...

There was absolutely no proof to substantiate his statement, yet you jokers keep reciting it. Na wa for una! Even Nzeogwu never said that Awolowo recruited them to carry out a coup for him. He only claimed it was a plan of the coupists. And those who know Awolowo said he would never have agreed to such a thing!

I am not asking u to vote for him. He is certainly getting mine because I had seen him portray the guts that most youths of our days won't dare to. I have seen him take on the president, Senate president, members of both houses of assembly, past leaders of this country without fear. I think it's what we need for now, someone with courage to tell the world that u are a thief and proof it and then prosecute the thief if he has the power. Jonathan was competent, buhari is too to u I guess when we voted them? There are so much to learn on the seat of power only if u really want to make a change. Donald Trump isnt competent but was elected the American president. American economy has never been this good for decades and top American companies that left for China are coming back home and unemployment rate is drastically decreasing. He might be controversial but he is really what Americans need for the now to get better cos he has got the will to match his words. I see something similar in Sowore but not exactly the same as Trump though.
America can afford to elect the likes of Trump, because they have strong institutions that have been running for years, that can effectively checkmate the excesses of a poor leader. Does Nigeria have that? huh

Even Carl Riccadonna, Chief U.S. Economist for Bloomberg Economics, claims that "the American economy is strengthening of its own merit,” and outgoing Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen was the one who put the U.S. firmly on the path to being great again. Some economic indices have actually worsened under Trump, while a few have strengthened. Those that were strengthened, did so because they were an offshoot of Obama's policies that were continued. undecided

Sowore may be a good voice for the opposition, but that does not necessarily mean he is a competent leader. sad The best critics never make the best leaders. Go and check. Oshiomole was a fire-brand labour leader, who was a thorn in the flesh of different military leaders. The minute he got into power as Governor of Edo State, what happened? He became one of those who worked actively against the interest of unionised labour, and could not even improve the lot of the workers in his state.

Guy, forget about Sowore's critical stand. He has not put forth any ideology or blueprint to show he can govern this nation effectively, or turn its fortunes around. undecided

Capt. Ore was Nigeria's finest. He was the captain of Nigeria's boeing 747 to New York. Capt. Billy Eko was merely his co-pilot. In fact, Billy Eko tried to implicate Capt. Whatever institution can make the tricycle available can also make a better ambulance available. And moreover, what will be the excuse when a tricycle is available but cant ply the road due to weather conditions or terrain? Its a substandard initiative and that you "MUST" agree with me. If the tricycle is the only & best option in your opinion, you have a right to it. But when analyzed down the line, I repeat, its substandard. You talking about peoples life here.
And saving people's lives means getting them quickly to the hospital, using the easiest and available mode of transportation that is at hand. sad You have not worked in remote communities within Nigeria for any length of time, that is why you are speaking so much grammar.

A highly respected doctor that I know, once had to conduct an emergency cesarean operation for a woman in labour, using a kerosene lantern, while she was placed on a makeshift bench in a village. He could not wait for "lot a safety precautions, pace and standard hardware's." Mother and baby survived, thankfully. undecided The doctor's car had broken down in that village, while he was on a trip to a different state. It would have taken another 4-5 hours to get the pregnant woman to a hospital, and only goodness knows what could have happened. Sometimes, people just have to make do with what they have.

In India, Bangladesh and several Asian countries, such tricycle ambulances are common. And can I remind you of how Nigerians troop to that same India, in search of medical solutions? huh

What is bad is bad. You wouldn't also want to hear that the ambulance had an accident. The vehicle is not safe. Thats my point. It can be physically seen. The height of the ambulance alone with relation to its center of gravity alone tells you alot that its just a mobile coffin and not an ambulance.
Oga/Madam, there is NO vehicle that is not capable of having an accident. undecided No vehicle is accident-proof. A lot depends on the state of the road, the skill & reflexes of the driver, as well as the kind of obstacles encountered on such a road. In Nigeria and most developing countries, ambulancies that come in the shape of Land cruisers and buses, are in short supply. People have to make do with what they can find.

I did youth corps in a remote community where the only means of transport were motorcycles, and rickety wooden canoes. sad I will not bore you about the rate of maternal mortality in that community, or how many lives were lost, due to lack of adequate medical care.
