Education / Re: FG Condemns ASUU's Fresh Demands by laughinggal(f): 2:05pm On Nov 26, 2013
This is pure wickedness, why could a country be this careless with their future leaders. Imagine hindering students from their rights for getting to half a year now thus making life miserable for citizens of the nation. Our so called leaders ain't trying at all, ASUU have been on strike for a long period of time now even ASUP, but instead of the FG to meet the demands of this two great firm which makes up the tertiary institution in the educational sector, they rather add salt to injury by condemning the demands. Some of the so called leaders have their wards in private varsities and prefer punishing others. GOD IS WATCHING US FROM A DISTANCE
Crime / Re: 25 Nigerians Arrested In Spain For ‘Sex Trafficking’ by laughinggal(f): 2:41pm On Nov 11, 2013
What a disgrace to the entire nation of Nigeria. Why can't this country be known for good things forchrist's sake? Time without number, some of it's citizens must be caught in dubious acts either stealing, smuggling, prostitution etc. The leadership of this country should please look into this shameful situation.

To every man, God has embedded a talent that will make him genuine, unique and different from others. These boys found out theirs and work towards accomplishing it and now, imagine the fat sum of money they get as compensation from the president for their victorious act. Education / Finally ASUU Set To Call-off 2013 Strike by laughinggal(f): 2:26pm On Nov 11, 2013
The strike by Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) may end on or before 15th November,2013 if feelers from the union’s zonal congresses are anything to go by.

Journalists gathered from reliable sources that the national leadership had briefed the zonal chapters of ASUU on the outcome of the recent meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan.

A source close to the leadership told journalists in Zaria yesterday that “The zonal congresses where held on Wednesday 6th November, 2013. For example, the Kano Zone meeting was held at the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria.

“At the end of the meeting the body language of ASUU chairmen that make up the zone and attended the meeting indicated that they may accept the offer of the president, but you know this depends on the outcome of the congresses of the various universities that make up each zone.

“All the universities in Nigeria that are participating in the ASUU strike will now hold their individual congresses on Monday, 11th November,2013 to brief their lecturers on what the president has offered. If majority of the lecturers in every university agree to accept the offer of the federal government, it means that the national leadership of ASUU will call off the strike on or before Friday, 15th November,2013 as all the results of the congresses would have been collated latest by Wednesday.

“We are optimistic but it depends on the decision that individual lecturers would make,” the source said.
Chairman of ASUU-ABU Zaria chapter, Dr. Muhammad Kabir Aliyu, confirmed that ABU Zaria would have its congress on Monday next week.
Politics / Re: 62 Reasons Why ASUU Is On Strike by laughinggal(f): 1:02pm On Oct 07, 2013
This isn't a liscense to the ongoing ASUU Strike. Are you even aware that ASUP Strike which was suspended has been resumed? This nation is doom for, seriously the FG are playing with the future leaders of this country.
Education / ASUP Finally Joins ASUU On Indefinite Strike by laughinggal(f): 12:58pm On Oct 07, 2013
The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, Finally commenced an indefinite strike, starting from Friday, October 4.
“Yes, of course, the strike has begun today (Friday). It’s still going on and no turning back till the Federal Government listens to us and attend to our needs; none has been satisfactorily met,” he said.

ASUP is asking for the removal of the dichotomy between HND/University graduates in placement and career progression; constitution of an effective and functional governing council for polytechnics; a white paper on visitation panels to polytechnics and a much-needed assessment of polytechnics.

The strike is expected to commence fully in polytechnics across Nigeria from next week Monday.

The polytechnic lecturers had earlier in the year embarked on a strike, for the same reasons. The strike lasted almost three months and was suspended on July 16 after the intervention of federal lawmakers. The lecturers say the government has not made concrete efforts since then to address their demands.

A similar nationwide strike by university lecturers is in its fourth month as the lecturers, ASUU, demand a full implementation of the 2009 agreement they had with the federal government.
