Romance / Re: Reasons Why Some Ladies Will Never See Mr Right by Lautechgossip(m): 7:13am On Mar 24, 2017

Romance / Reasons Why Some Ladies Will Never See Mr Right by Lautechgossip(m): 10:44pm On Mar 23, 2017
In this write up, I will be writing about why some girls will still remain single and never see that Mr Right that they are seriously looking for.

In life, sometimes what we are looking for may be around us but because of our awkward attitude, we will miss such opportunities.
Now let’s get down to business of the day.

1) Lack of respect : Some ladies these days seem to lack respect and don’t care anymore. They don’t know that Mr Right is not looking at how beautiful or the amount of foundation of pancake on their faces what they are looking for is that girl who will respect them because they’re the head of the family. Even the Bible we read everyday says, wives should be submissive to their husbands. Why raising your elbow then? Ladies who are seriously in search of Mr Right should cultivate this habit of respecting the guys.

2) Quest for material things : Ladies nowadays are after material things a lot which is very bad, their eyes sharp eh pass razor blade, once a guy step out dem don use eyes wey the guy pockets and waiting dey and the cost of waiting the guy dey wear. They forget that Mr Right does not even have that time to be putting on expensive things. So ladies why can’t you overlook material things first

3) Money : Some will say money is the root of all evil but I totally disagree with this, love of money is the root of all evil. It’s how much you love money will make you to do bad things and from there you have committed the evil by overlooking that humble guy who has being asking for your hands in marriage but base on say the guy pocket no fat, you dey overlook am.

That God fearing guy has being bringing ring and flowers to you but you will tell him you are still thinking about it? For good 1 year, you are still thinking about it? Waiting you dey think self? But once that old man who is married and old to be your grandfather ask you out, na once you go take agree? Before I go even close eyes and open am, you are at Mr Beans waiting for him? Who do you think you are fooling? You are just messing up your golden opportunity. Always forget about money, look for good characters not money. Am not saying you should get married to a poor guy who has no future and don’t care to build one.

Romance / 10 Signs She's Really In Love With You by Lautechgossip(m): 7:33am On Mar 20, 2017
When it comes to love, and particularly women, men can experience difficulties in deciding if a woman loves them or not.

There are ways to tell if a woman loves you by the way she moves, the way she speaks, and other actions she takes even when she is not with you.

If you are in a new relationship, and don’t know how to interpret the signals you’re getting from the woman you are dating, here are ten signs she loves you:

1. You notice a change in her appearance
When it comes to a woman who is in love, you will notice a sudden makeover in the way she looks. Her makeup, hairstyle, clothes and accessories will change as she will do anything to try and impress you.

2. She shows genuine concern for you
When a woman falls in love, she will worry about you and won’t be able to stay away if she notices you’re having troubles. She will let you know that she's there for you in case you need her, and she will be deeply concerned and interested in any problems you’re having.

3. She shows you off to family and friends
A woman who really loves a man is proud to be with him and can’t wait to show him off to her friends and family. She will constantly talk about you with others and will be deeply interested in wanting to know your parents and your friends.

4. She makes sacrifices for you
Another sign that she really loves you is when she takes the time to be with you and to do the things you love to do. It is easy for her when you do the things she likes to do, but if you’ve noticed that she’s given up these normal activities to be with you, it’s an indication that she cares about
you a great deal.

5. She talks about the future with you
A woman in love will talk very excitedly about the future, making plans regarding it and telling you about the things she wants the two of you to do together. She will make subtle hints while imagining building a future with you in it.

6. She does unexpected, yet pleasant things
to surprise you

It’s in a woman’s nature to want to give to the people she cares about. If she begins doing things like showing up at your workplace with
lunch, buying you meaningful gifts, straightening up around your apartment, cooking you dinner, or helping with your laundry, she is very likely in love with you.

7. She touches you frequently
A woman in love enjoys being physically close to the person she appreciates so much, so you should guess her feelings from reading her body language. She will touch you often, rest her hand on your arm, massage your back when you’re together and she might even have goose bumps
when she’s near you.

8. You are the only guy she’s focused on
If she’s in love with you, she won’t be bothered with dealing with other guys, as you’re now the only one she focuses her attention on.

9. She wants to be around you as much as
possible

A woman in love won’t think twice about clearing up her busy schedule for you. She will postpone her appointments, be late for meetings, and skip classes at a moments notice to spend
as much time with you as possible.

10. She wants to know intimate details about
you

A woman in love will show a lot of interest in the life of a particular guy, so if she starts being extremely curious, sincerely and profoundly interested in every aspect of your life, asking about your day, wanting to know everything about your childhood, your family, and things that happened in your life that made you the man you are today, it’s a very good indication that she loves you.

Health / Airtel Supports Nine Year Old In Second Battle Against Cancer by Lautechgossip(m): 2:21pm On Mar 19, 2017
A nine year old cancer survivor who is having to battle the disease for a second time, has received a lifeline from Airtel on the latest episode of Touching Lives.

Pillar Egona, whose left leg was amputated to save her from a life-threatening tumour, had outgrown her prosthesis and needed a new one. On Airtel Touching Lives Season 3 Episode 5, the telecommunications services provider promised to pay a prosthesis surgeon to treat the little girl and recommend a new prosthesis for her in Nigeria.

While showing appreciation to her new benefactor, Egona said, with the new artificial leg, “I can be normal, I can be like everyone else.”

But not long after the programme was recorded, Egona’s cancer returned and now, Airtel has said it would redirect its assistance to her treatment.

As revealed by Egona’s mother, Mojisola, an innocuous fall triggered the tumour that would eventually cost Egona her leg.

In 2014, while the girl was running about at home, she slipped and crashed into a wall, hurting her leg. After treating the bruises with home remedies, her mother expected her to get better. But, several days afterwards, said Mojisola, Egona still limped and the bump on the leg continued to grow.

After conducting a few tests, doctors realised she had osteosarcoma and for specialist treatment, the family was advised to take the child to India. “We were able to get the cheapest rate in India at the Cancer Institute, Chennai,” said Egona’s father, Abraham.

According to a radiation therapist, Mrs Animashaun, Egona’s fall was “a lucky break for her”. The domestic accident led to an early detection, she said, and detecting cancer early often saves victims’ lives.

She noted that the incidence of cancer in Nigeria has been rising because of the increase in the consumption of processed food. Also, more people are getting themselves checked and contributing to cancer reporting in the country.

However, the cost of Egona’s therapy was beyond her family’s capacity. “I had to go public to ask people to help my daughter,” her father said. For the operation and journey to Chennai, the parents raised N18m. “You can imagine the pain, having to beg people. Sometimes you’re abused and people will call you names.”

But, despite weeks of chemotherapy, the cancer continued to spread. Eventually, doctors recommended an amputation.

It wasn’t easy seeing her lying on the bed,” said Mojisola. “But I was able to go through the period because I believed in God, and with God all things are possible. Also, I knew Pillar was looking up to the dad and me for support so I couldn’t afford to break down. When it was time for amputation I just had to call her and let her know why we had to go for it, and she understood.”

After the donation was announced, the Egona family thanked Airtel for saving their child again. “I’ll be able to play, run, do sports, and I’ll be able to climb the stairs as well,” Pillar Egona said.

Airtel Touching Lives will return this Saturday on television networks across Africa, the telecom company has said.

Hosted by Wana Udobang, the philanthropic programme, episode six of season three will premiere on Africa Magic Urban at 6:30pm and on Africa Magic Family at 7pm. The same instalment will be broadcast from 9-9:30pm on RaveTV.

The following day, Africa Magic World will air a rerun from 6-6:30pm, followed by NTA Network from 6:00pm, and ArewaTV from 7pm.

Education / SARS Apprehends Thief, Recovers Stolen Items From Ceiling Top In Lautech by Lautechgossip(m): 10:02am On Mar 07, 2017
It was indeed like a 'Nollywood movie' as hundreds of onlookers gathered around a hostel in Adenike students' area on Sunday, 5th of March, 2017, exclaiming at the volume of stolen items that were being brought out of the ceiling of the suspected theif and loaded into SARS vehicles.

The suspect, identified as Williams Oluwatomide (popularly known as Prince Tee), had been arrested by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Ogbomoso, after being seen wearing one of the stolen face caps two days ago. His girlfriend was also reportedly seen wearing stolen clothing.

According to Kikiotolu sources, the suspect, was a well-known whistle blower in the area. He would readily volunteer information about robbery incidents, try to protect prospective victims by offering them padlocks claiming that it had only one key left which he gives them.

In another hostel, he reportedly paid forty out of the sixty thousand naira rent for a room to gain access as somebody wanting to renovate, and prepare the room for his eventual relocation. The hostel got burgled.

Prince Tee, a student of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, LAUTECH, holds the post of Librarian at his faculty organization, and is always at forefront of student struggles. He was allegedly arrested during one of the protests held by students LAUTECH, during the just concluded break.

The suspect confessed that he did steal some of the items, while some were actually his.

He led the SARS to the ceiling top of the hostel where he kept his 'spoils of war'.

The loot was so massive that one of those who participated in the offloading exercise confirmed that they spent over two hours in the ceiling bringing down a lot of items which included, Standing fans, Plates and Spoons, GoTV decoders, Plasma TVs, Female shoes, Bags filled with clothing in different styles, Jugs, Musical instruments (piano, trumpet), Refrigerators, etc.

The loot also included compact Public Address Systems belonging to his faculty.

According to Kikiotolu sources from the faculty, he claimed that the person repairing them died after he (Prince Tee) had collected the money meant for repair.

The Deputy Dean of Students Affairs (DDSA), who came around yesternight while the items were being conveyed to SARS office, said students should go and claim their items at the New Wazo Market office of SARS.

Students trooped into SARS premises as early as 8 am to retrieve them. Some, however, couldn't find theirs. It was opined that there were probably other places where he kept the loots, and he must have had accomplices.

When asked, Williams who said he was a 300 level student of Electronics Electrical Engineering Department, maintained that there was nothing left hiding anywhere, and all the items he had has been recovered.

Pictures of the recovered items below....

Romance / 3 Things That Should Not Bother You In A Relationship by Lautechgossip(m): 5:24am On Feb 28, 2017
Relationships require compromises and conscious efforts by both partners to remain together.

Partners need to look for ways to play on their strengths, enjoy and treasure every moment spent together and look out for issues that could potentially ruin the relationship.

While there are many relationship problems to watch out for, the three listed below should not trouble you in any way.

1. Friendship with your partner's friends
Your partner’s friends cannot always be your friend, and you might not to even get along with them no matter how hard you try.

It’s wrong to push yourself so hard in order to get their acceptance or approval; they do not have to like you and you do not need to be part of your partner’s friends circle.

All that is required of you is politeness and cordiality, and that’s all.

2. Body count
Judging someone’s worth by their body count is not too sensible, and no matter what the answer to this question is, you shouldn’t be bothered.

That pretty, interesting, funny, witty and intelligent guy or girl is still the same person who caught your interest, and hearing about the number of people they’ve been with before meeting you should not change how you see them.

It is actually better to skip the question altogether if you know there’s a chance that the answer might bother you.

3. Jealousy
A reasonable amount of jealousy in a relationship should not bother you – as a matter of fact, it is usually desirable.

Loving someone and needing to be exclusive with them always brings about this slight unease when their relations with someone else are becoming a little too much and that is totally natural.

Keeping it at a reasonable level is very important though.

Business / CBN Sells $230 Million To 16 Banks, Boosts Financial Market by Lautechgossip(m): 7:23am On Feb 27, 2017
Sixteen banks shared in the $230 million foreign exchange (forex) mart by the Central Bank of Nigeria through the forward contract agreement.

This forms part of the fulfillment of the apex bank’s pledge to ensure liquidity in the interbank market under the latest policy announced last week.

Of the 16 financial institutions, 13 are commercial banks, one is a development financing establishment, while two are merchant banks.

An analysis of the auction’s participants showed that nine commercial banks and one merchant got $162.85 million at bid rates ranging from N325/$ to N360/$, while six others got $58.52 million at bid rates between N315/$ and N320/$.

However, the first 10 banks with a total request of $162.85 million in the forwards contract have the maturity date of March 27, 2017, while the other six have a maturity date of April 24, 2017.

Consequently, the parallel market strengthened to N460 per dollar, its highest level in more than three months, following the series of interventions by the apex bank.

Last week, the regulator offered $500 million in 60-day forward contract, but ended up selling $370 million, as some banks could not back up their bids with naira equivalent or provisions.

A sub-Saharan economist for RenCap, Yvonne Mhango, said: “There are rays of light in Nigeria’s outlook…foreign reserves have risen over 20 per cent to $29 billion and a more comfortable CBN has this week announced changes to its foreign exchange policy and injected more dollars into the local market. Since Monday (February 20), the parallel market rate has strengthened,” she said.

Research analyst at FXTM, Lukman Otunuga, said that though Monday’s new foreign exchange policy, which made more dollar available for the few at 20 per cent above the official rate is already easing some pressures, it does little to solve the major problem of multiple exchanges.

According to Otunuga, Nigeria’s five adopted exchanges continue to add to the uncertainty with both firms and investors constantly left confused. The bearish combination of depressed oil prices, foreign exchange scarcity and tepid economic fundamentals continue to expose the Nigerian economy to downside risks.

Analysts at Afrinvest said: “In our view, while the implementation of the revised foreign exchange market guideline has been greeted with much optimism, we do not believe this move can sustainably address the lingering foreign exchange liquidity challenges in the economy without relaxing forex rate peg and review of list of items ineligible for forex transactions in the parallel market.”

Phones / 5 Reasons You Should Password Your Device by Lautechgossip(m): 7:11am On Feb 27, 2017
Your data is worth a lot to thieves and fraudsters; therefore you should be careful with the sources these thieves and fraudsters can use to access these data. It is time to get rid of the notion that using a password for your devices means you have something to hide. This will help prevent sensitive data like banking and account details, social security details, corporate email information etc. from being unnecessarily compromised.
Jumia Travel shares 5 important reasons you should password your devices.

1. To Avoid Pocket Dialing
Pocket dialing, especially for smartphones and even basic phones, can be humorous or annoying, but most annoyingly because your airtime is being wasted without your knowledge. Here, a preloaded phone number can be dialed when a person has a phone in the rear pocket and sits on it, or if the phone gets ‘jostled’ in a purse or briefcase. This occurrence will be reduced, if not eliminated, if your device was locked with a passcode.

2. To Protect Your Private Information
Symantec, a leading security software maker, conducted an experiment to encourage smartphone users to protect their private information. In the experiment, a phone was loaded with fake password, banking information, emails and photos, and a tracking software was installed on it to monitor what people will do with the phone when found. At the end of the experiment, the result showed 72 per cent looked through photos, 57 per cent checked out saved passwords and 43 per cent accessed the phone’s online banking app.

3. To Prevent Unwanted Prying Into Your Business
This goes without saying. Nosy friends, partners or family members who want to know about ‘every and anything’ you are doing, will have a field day with your ‘password – unprotected’ device. To protect your privacy and avoid unbelievably embarrassing and awkward scenarios, it’s best to password your device and encourage these friends, partners or family members to simply ask you questions about whatever they want to know.

4. To Monitor Others’ Use of Your Device
This is important especially if you have children that like to play with your devices. In the process of moving from one game app to another, children can keep your device running without rest till your battery runs down, regardless of the power situation. Also, without a password, a child can easily pick up your device and while looking for their favourite app, mistakenly rearrange, hide or delete sensitive information on your phone.

5. In Case of Theft
Theft is a sudden and unexpected occurrence. You don’t exactly see it coming. In the case of the theft of your device, it will be better for you if there is a security lock on your device. This is because it gives you some time to inform your bank and other relevant institutions about the theft, before the thief is able to use personal data gotten from your device(s) against you. For some devices like the iPhone, once your device is stolen and it’s password-protected, it’s easier to remotely lock and wipe it.

Jobs/Vacancies / More Youths To Be Gainfully Employed In 2017 – FG by Lautechgossip(m): 7:14am On Feb 26, 2017
The Secretary to Government of the Federation, Mr Babachir Lawal, has said that President Muhammadu Buhari is laying a solid foundation for the future generation through his leadership style.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Lawal, who spoke at a roundtable with top government officials in Owerri on Saturday, said that by no fewer than one million youth will be gainfully employed by year end.

The SGF was in Owerri on Friday where he was conferred with a Fellowship at the 5th Convocation of Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo.

He said Buhari’s administration was not witch-hunting anybody, but wanted to ensure that impunity and corruption were eradicated in the country.

Lawal said the Federal Government had already engaged over 30,000 youths through its numerous programmes and job creation, adding that one million youths would be gainfully employed before the end of 2017.

He said the president inherited a lot of challenges ranging from insecurity to corruption, adding that the situation needed support and patience to fix the economy.

He said that everybody must join hand to rediscover the nation and to put it back to where it rightfully belong.

He said, “We have commenced a new journey of rapid and sustainable economic growth that will usher us prosperity despite all the challenges.

“Our economy should have been among the strongest in the world if not for the high level of corruption which is more evident in key sectors like education and health care delivery.”

The SGF said the administration had recorded huge success since it started the fight against corruption and had prosecuted many public office holders.

He added that the Whistleblowing policy had helped the administration recovered millions of naira from corrupt Nigerians, adding that the huge sum would be reinvested to boost the economy.

Lawal said that government was aware of the pains Nigerians were passing through. He assured that government was doing everything possible to address it.

“This government has introduced diversification policy and very soon we will begin to witness changes as we have witnessed in rice and wheat production,” he said.

Gov. Rochas Okorocha said that this was not the time for Nigerians to weep or complain in the struggle for nationhood, but a time to comply.

According to him, Nigeria must write the history of this recession, just like other advanced nation did in their own struggle to greatness.

Okorocha further said Buhari’s main job was not to build skyscrapers but to lay a solid foundation for other successors to build.

He said Nigerians should continue to pray for the president as his emergence was divine and the purpose must be fulfilled.

Okrocha also admonished youths to de-emphasize the search for civil service jobs, but to see agriculture as the fastest means to create wealth.

Education / JAMB Explains Why Candidates Can No Longer Apply To Two Public Universities by Lautechgossip(m): 7:06am On Feb 26, 2017
The Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) has disclosed why it restricted candidates from choosing two public universities during the 2017 online registration.

Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Head of Media and Information, told PREMIUM TIMES on Saturday that the choice of public universities was restricted to one but candidates can choose as many colleges of education and polytechnics as they want.

The new measure by the board means that candidates may select a public university and a private university, but not two public universities.

The new update was revealed by JAMB via its official twitter handle @JambHQ on Friday.

It reads: “candidates can select NCE as their choice up to three times I.e 1st choice, 2nd choice and 3rd choice.

“But they are not allowed to select two public universities as choices. If candidates select a public university as their degree awarding choices, they are allowed to select a private university as another choice.”

Mr. Benjamin told PREMIUM TIMES that the Board took the restrictions because candidates hardly get admissions into their second and third choice universities.

“Yes we restricted the choice to one but candidates can choose as many colleges or polytechnics,” he said.

“We discovered it was of no use choosing a university as second choice when in actual sense they can’t even accommodate their first choices,” the JAMB official said.

Candidates have however cried foul over this new information as they lamented that the board is indirectly enforcing the choice of private university on them.

The candidates also lamented due to the huge sum paid as school fees in private universities stating that they are not affordable by most Nigerian parents.

“The fees nko? Jamb go help the students pay the fees for the private universities? You can’t force somebody to attend private universities,” a Twitter user, Robinson said.

Education / Why Females Prefer Colleges Of Education, Polytechnics – Stakeholders by Lautechgossip(m): 5:13am On Feb 18, 2017
The desire to acquire tertiary education before marriage had made most females in Borno to prefer enrolling in Polytechnics and Colleges of Education instead of universities, some education stakeholders in the state have observed.

They said on Thursday that Polytechnics and Colleges were more convenient for females because of the shorter years of studies, thereby enabling them to complete their A-Level education before getting married.

Some of them said that it was easier for applicants to secure admissions into such institutions than Universities.

The Borno state Focal Person of N-Power, Alhaji Babazannah Abdulkarim said Colleges of Education had higher numbers of females enrollment.

He said, The girl-child has limited time. Most girls, especially in Northern Nigeria find it more convenient to go to colleges than universities because they always get married before 18 years.

“Most men do not like their women to work and women also do not like to stress themselves going to the University.”

The Borno Director of National Orientation Agency in Borno, Alhaji Yahya Imam said the orientation of women in Borno and Northern Nigeria in general with regards to pursuing higher education was not encouraging, as such they preferred the short-cut offered by polytechnics and colleges of education.

The Chairman of Borno State Joint Tertiary Education Board, Muhammad Askira said the girl-child education had not been given the attention it deserved at both the local and national levels.

Askira said some ideologists even believed it was an abomination for girls to go to school.

He said, “Some men believe that women who went to Colleges or Universities always have the self-fulfilling ego to do things for themselves without depending on their spouse.”

A student of Ramat Polytechnic, Zainab Madu said it was hard to gain admission into the university and therefore preferred college of education.

She said, “Before you gain admission into the university, you have to sit for UTME and post UME, which are difficult for some of us.

“Our parents usually ask us to produce husbands immediately after secondary school; some of us will always want to hop into any available school for fear of being forced to get married.”

The Registrar, Muhammad Goni College of Legal Islamic Studies Maiduguri, Alhaji Ahmadu Abdulfattah, said most of those seeking admission into the college right from its inception were women.

“Most women feel comfortable with NCE programme. Here we teach civil and sharia law and we still have a high number of women,” he said.

Health / Prices Of Drugs Skyrocket As Nigerians Face Harder Times by Lautechgossip(m): 7:42am On Feb 14, 2017
The upward review of duties on imported products and goods by the Federal Government has raised prices of imported goods and products and is having deleterious effect on life generally for millions of Nigerians. But the area where the effects of the implementation of the new policy is biting most is in the health sector where it is causing patients and healthcare providers sleepless nights.

A circular by the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun to the Nigeria Customs Services, NCS, raised the duty payable on imported medicaments such as anti-malarials and antibiotics.

Following the directive on Tax for medicaments in the circular entitled “Import Adjustment Tax.”, a 20 per cent tax is being imposed on imported medicaments. No sooner was this announcement made than the prices of common Over-The-Counter, OTC, medications such as antibiotics, antimalarials and antipyretics jumped through the roof.

Essential drugs like antimalarials and antibiotics have become more expensive in recent times as a result of the implementation of the 20 per cent duty tax on imported medicaments by the Federal Government.

In a number of pharmacies, chemist shops and other drug retail outlets across the Federation, prices of these drugs have gone out of the reach of the average Nigerians.

Millions of Nigerians already impoverished by the biting economic recession are now having tough time purchasing these medicaments.

Fears by health watchers that the new taxation policy on every imported pharmaceutical drug and allied products, will trigger unparalled increases in prices are already founded.

Latest inventory of drug prices showed that the effect of the duty increase has been astronomical, and those bearing the full effect of the development are the end users, that is the consumers.

For most, gone are hopes of affordable and available health care.

A recent independent nationwide survey of prices of medicaments conducted by I CARE, a non-governmental organisation, shows there is an astronomical increase on the heels of the implementation of the new import duty policy.

Prices of drugs commonly used in the treatment and/ or management of some of the health challenges of Nigerians especially in the rural areas have shot through the roof in most drug outlets across the country. According to the survey, a common anti-hypertensive drug,
Co–Dovan, that cost N3,000 per pack before the 20 per cent duty took effect, now costs N10,000.

Meropenem Injection, a lifesaving antibiotic, normally used for complicated infections, was selling for N4,600 per ampoule, but now cannot be purchased for less than N18,000. Felene, a Non – Steriodal Anti- Inflammatory Drug, NSAID, normally used for treatment of Arthritic conditions, was N180 per pack, now it is N500 per pack. The drug is used for life.

Other drugs include Insulin for diabetics 100iu that was selling for N900, now costs N3000 in the shops; Ketamin injection, an Anasthestic agent used for surgical operations, used to be bought for under N1,000, is now N8,000.00;
Omeprazole an anti-ulcer drug was selling for N150 a pack, but now costs more than N1,000; Anti-Tetanus Serum (ATS), a life-saving injection for dog bites, and injuries from nails and sharp, rusty objects was N6,000 but is now N45,000; a box of eight packets of Omega H3 multivitamin capsules was N8,000, it is now N16,000; Vitamin B complex injection that was N1,800 per pack, is now N7,000 in the shops, while Fortuin injection used for crashing post operative pains,is currently selling for N18,000 per pack of 100 in the shops, compared to about N7,500 previously.

Also affected are Gyno – Trosyd for vaginal candidiasis, it was costing N1,400 per pack, but is now N2,500. Malaria drugs for adults and children are not spared. The average cost used to range between N200 and N500, but is now more than N1,000 for the cheapest.

Politics / FG Secures $7.5bn Loan From China For Rail Project by Lautechgossip(m): 7:35am On Feb 13, 2017
The Federal Government has secured $7.5 billion loan for the construction of standard rail gauge from Lagos to Kano, an official has said. The $7.5 billion is part of the $30 billion loan the Federal Government seeks to take and for which it has sought approval from the National Assembly.

The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, who disclosed this on Monday at the North Central Town Hall meeting held in Ilorin for the people of Kogi, Niger and Kwara states, urged Nigerians to impress it on the National Assembly to approve the loan request so that the Federal Government can go ahead with the project.

But the Senate in a statement by its spokesperson, Aliyu Abdullahi, on Wednesday in Abuja, said that the minister’s claim was not only false but misrepresenting and contradictory to available facts. It insisted that the minister must withdraw the claim.

According to Amaechi, the loan was secured from a Chinese bank and the ministry is waiting for approval of the National Assembly to access the loan. He said that $1. 4 billion of the loan was for the construction of the rail gauge from Lagos to Ibadan, while $6. 1 billion would be used on Ibadan–Ilorin– Minna-Kaduna– Kano line.

The minister added that Kaura Namoda–Funtua rail line would also be revived. He added that the central rail project from Itakpe to Warri would be completed before the end of 2017, while narrow gauge line from Ilorin–Minna would also commence during the year.

Amaechi said plans were under way to connect Abuja to other parts of the country through the central line at Warri, while the Jos Inland Port would be completed in June, this year. He said that a Lagos-Ijebu- Ode-Ore-Benin-Asaba- Agbor-Onisha-Sapele-Yenagoa- Port Harcourt-Uyo and Calabar coastal rail line would be constructed.

He said that work on the Eastern rail flank linking Aba to Port Harcourt, Makurdi, Enugu and Jos, would commence in June.

The minister said that Ekiti would be linked by rail through Osogbo and would run to Ilorin, Minna and Kano. He also said that the ministry had sought approval to purchase more coaches and locomotives for the Abuja-Kaduna light rail.

Contrary to Amaechi’s claim, the Senate spokesperson said, no such loan request was before the Senate. “As at today, the only request for approval from the executive for loan was the one dated January 27, 2017 and signed by Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.

“The request was seeking a `resolution of National Assembly for Issuance of one billion Euro Bond in the International Capital Market for funding of 2016 Budget Deficit’ and we immediately granted the approval. “Also, in the letter quoted above, the Government mentioned the two rail lines cited by the minister as part of the projects for which the Euro Bond will be utilized,” he said.

Religion / 4 Ways To Abandon A Life Of Sin - Kikiotolu by Lautechgossip(m): 7:35am On Feb 12, 2017
Trying to abandon a sinful lifestyle is not easy.

It requires a lot of hard work, determination, and persevering, even in the midst of temptations.

With all of the above, it comes as no surprise that a lot of people fall back to their old ways, and let go of their goal.

Today, we shed some light on how to finally let go of the darkness and step into the light.

Here are four ways to abandon a life of sin and embrace a Godly lifestyle.

1. Figure out the why, what the goal is and hold on to it: Trying to change or letting of habits is never easy. However, you can achieve your goal by understanding why you need a change. Once this is done, you need to determine the goal, which is finding God and living a life, your creator can be proud of. This will be your anchor.

2. Abandon your old lifestyle completely: Just like the new believers at Ephesus, who brought out all their books on witchcraft and pornography and burned them in public, you also have to let go of your old ways. This is both mental and physical. Physically, you might have to throw out some clothes, movies, books, and so. Mentally, you need to slowly change your thoughts, behaviour, and the words that come out of your mouth.

3. Build up your spirituality by reading the Bible: Step 2 says free your mind of the bad, this step says fill up that empty space with the word of God. This way, you are not left empty, or open to negativity. "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God" (Matthew 4:4 KJV).

4. Pray constantly: "Stay alert; be in prayer so you don’t wander into temptation" (Matthew 26:41 MSG). The only way to avoid going back to your ways is to pray constantly. Praying reminds us of our vulnerability to sin, and the desperate need to hold on to God, the author and finisher of our faith.

Celebrities / Why I Think 2face Would Make A Fine President by Lautechgossip(m): 4:10pm On Feb 09, 2017
Innocent Ujah Idibia better known as 2face or
2baba is one exceptional musician whose music transcends language, religion and tribe in a country that is overwhelmed with tribal and religious clashes. 2face has been able to win the heart of so many Nigerians with his songs and his humanitarian activities to the plies of the common man through several campaigns to speak up for the voiceless.

The much decorated musician isn’t only devoted to his music but he is also a philanthropist and he started his own NGO called 2Face Idibia Reach-Out Foundation whose motto is service to humanity. Due to his stance for the struggle of human right, he was appointed as ambassador by National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control.

He was also presented with the prestigious International Youth Ambassador for Peace Summit and the Nigeria Youth Merit Award by the National Youth Council of Nigeria in recognition of his contributions to youth development in Nigeria.

2face means a lot to so many people because he has touched the life of so many people in so many ways. There are very few musicians who have been able to do what he has done in a very short time.

2face is also a family man whom despite his wild past with different women, still tries all his best to be a responsive father to all his kids. This proves that he is man who takes responsibility for his actions and this quality is very vital in leadership.

Just last week he was campaigning against the government for the bad state of the country and he single-handedly steered up the entire nation to come and air their voice through a peaceful protest and Nigerians who have a lot of love and respect for him were reinvigorated and spirited to challenge the government by marching out for the One Nigerian Protest.

But unfortunately 2face was stopped from leading the protest by the same people he was trying to challenge but notwithstanding Nigerians still stood by him and they took to the street on the 6th to protest even though their leader was restricted from joining them.

He has always showed his disdain towards the government through his songs and Nigerians have been motivated by his music one way or the other in having a greater and better Nigeria.

The message in his songs goes a long way because it’s a very strong medium to create awareness of what is going on in the country and how to stop and fight it. Fela was man who did a lot with his music to fight the government and 2Face has taken the baton to continue in the struggle towards a free and fair election, end of corruption and good governance.

Nigerians have gone through a lot through the hands of these corrupt politicians and it would bring a breathe of fresh air to the country if we can have a leader who posses these qualities; Integrity, Focus, Patience, Passion, Transparency, Positive, Accountability, Confidence, Honesty, Compassion and Humble.

You would agree with me that 2Face Idibia has almost every one of all these qualities to lead the nation. I know people would bring up the issue of his educational background but I don’t think that is enough criteria for leadership. Our current President is also school certificate holder so that should not be an issue at all.

I leave Nigerians with this question. If 2face decides to pick up a Presidential ticket to run for President, would you or would you not vote for him. If he has been able to do so much with very little power how much do you think he would do if he gets the power. Share your thoughts below.

Not only does this enable many farmers to secure financial independence, but also to contribute to the prosperity of their local communities, by unlocking the enormous wealth potential of agriculture that can be found in Nigeria’s rural areas.”

NYSC / Another Female NYSC Member Dies In Bayelsa State by Lautechgossip(m): 8:07am On Feb 05, 2017
A female member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), simply identified as Jumoke, has died at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Kaiama, Kolokuma-Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

It was gathered that the 2016 Batch B Stream II corps member died of asthmatic attack last Friday.

The deceased undergoing the compulsory orientation, a core programme of the scheme, breathed her last at the Clinic Department of the camp.

Though her colleague said the deceased corps member came to camp with her inhaler to ward off crisis, it was not certain what became of the inhaler when her attack started.

A source, who spoke in confidence, however said the victim suffered her first attack a week after arrival at the camp but was assisted by colleagues.

“My friend told me that when the deceased suffered her first attack in camp, she helped her to overcome it.

“But we don’t know what happened when a similar attack that took her life happened,” she said.

Some persons also claimed that the deceased was both asthmatic and epileptic saying she was not fit to be at the camp.

Her remains were said to have been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa.

The Director-General, NYSC, Brig.-Gen. SuleKauzure, was said to have dispatched a delegation of senior NYSC officials from the headquarters in Abuja to Kaiama.

The officials, it was gathered, arrived on Friday evening and immediately commenced investigations to ascertain the circumstances that led to the death of the corps member.

NYSC officials in Bayelsa State however kept mute over the development saying the headquarters had taken over the matter.

Last year, a female corps member became sick at the camp but later died at the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa.

The latest incident occurred few days after Kauzure, who was represented by the NYSC Director, Procurement, Mr. YakubuJok, visited the Kaiama camp.

The D-G advised youths absorbed in the scheme to take their personal security seriously.

Kauzure lamented that corps members were increasingly exposing themselves to danger by embarking on unauthorised night journeys, regretting that some corps members lost their lives with others sustaining grave bodily injuries because of indiscipline.

He appealed to them to always stay at the places they were posted to carry out their one year national assignments.

Kauzure also urged the youths to embrace patriotism and discipline, adding that the scheme was designed to inculcate values of citizenship and leadership in them.

Career / 4 Ways To Deal With Job Dissatisfaction by Lautechgossip(m): 7:13am On Feb 04, 2017
You aren’t happy with your job. You aren’t passionate about it and have to drag yourself out of bed daily to work from morning to evening doing that job, either because you need the money to put food on your table or you can’t handle going back into the job market to begin the job hunting process again.

Jumia Travel shares 4 ways to effectively deal with job dissatisfaction.

1. Identify The Source Of Your Dissatisfaction
Try to find out the exact thing about your job that causes the dissatisfaction. Is it the fact that you have to wake up early to go to work? Is the fact that you finish work late? Is it the amount of your salary? Is it the fact that you have no time for yourself? Is it all these things and more? Figure it out. When you identify the source of your job dissatisfaction, it makes it easier to deal with.

2. Build An Escape Hatch
If you currently have no choice but to remain in a job that leaves you dissatisfied, don’t just give up and let yourself wallow in misery. Work to build an escape hatch for yourself. It could be taking part-time classes to get another degree or a master’s degree. It could also be starting trainings, attending workshops or writing exams that qualify you for certificates or degrees that can make you eligible for other opportunities in line with what you desire to do. The crux is to do what you can to ensure that staying in that job is not your only option.

3. Polish Your Resume
If you can’t take it anymore and staying in the job is depressing you, start investigating opportunities that you can explore, polish your resume, gather the courage and quit the job. The job market might be an uncertain place but you are not going to find a better job if you don’t look for one.

But please don’t rush into this. Think long and hard if this is what you want to do. Have a plan and a back up to support you in case things don’t initially go your way. Use your connections and don’t give up until you succeed.

4. Be Resilient
For those who can’t just up and leave their jobs due to certain responsibilities; for those who, more or less, don’t have a choice but to continue in their jobs, you have to be resilient. Be determined to find a way to make it work. Once you have identified the source of your job dissatisfaction, take steps to either solve the issue(s) completely or alleviate it. Consider who can help you in solving these issues and approach them. If in the end you can’t solve it, accept it (as hard as it might be).

But be strong, you have to be strong, decide to change your mindset about the job and find a way to make it work for you. You will be surprised that in the end, you will actually find a way to successfully endure the job until there is a silver lining.
