Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has extended the ongoing voter registration exercise by two weeks.

This came as the commission said it has registered 23 new political parties, bringing the number of registered political parties in the country to 91.

The commission had sent letters of invitation to the affected chairmen of the new parties to pick their certificates of registration from the commission tomorrow.

The development presents huge logistical challenge for the electoral umpire, with the ballot paper set to be expanded to accommodate more parties.

Among the newly political parties registered by INEC, yesterday, were African Action Congress, AAC; Alliance for a United Nigeria, AUN; Alliance National Party, ANP; Allied Peoples’ Movement, APM, among others.

A motorcyclist popularly known as Okada man who robs his passengers, has been apprehended by policemen in Lagos. According to reports, the criminal is notorious for robbing most of his unsuspecting victims who innocently ride on his motorcycle.

Following the alleged involvement of Osun governorship candidate, Ademola Adeleke, in a secondary school certificate scandal, the embattled lawmaker has reacted to the raging controversy.

The gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the upcoming Osun State election, Senator Ademola Adeleke, who was recently trailed with a secondary school certificate scandal, has finally spoken out.

Recall that the Nigerian Police last week Wednesday, invited the Principal of Ede Muslim High School 1, Abass Khalib, for investigation over the issuance of statement of result and testimonial to Adeleke, which some claimed was not genuine.

Abass was said to have allegedly signed the statement of results and testimonial of Mr Adeleke, who reportedly finished his secondary school education in 1981.

According to a new report by PREMIUM Times, while responding to the allegations, Adeleke, through the Director of Media and Publicity of

Senator Ademola Adeleke Campaign Organization, Olawale Rasheed , in a statement on Sunday, demanded the release of the principal of Ede Muslim High School 1, adding that Abass’ arrest was politically motivated because of “date error”.

“We are constrained to issue this statement on the recent arrest and persecution of the principal of Ede Muslim High School over false accusations of forged school testimonial issued to Senator Ademola Adeleke as a former student of the school because of a date error.

“We note with great alarm the politically motivated arrest and unwarranted media attacks designed as a tool of harassment, persecution and character assassination of the PDP flag bearer, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Adeleke,” he said.

Adeleke called on police authorities to redirect their attention to “investigating and solving real crimes and not trumped up accusations”.

“It must be reaffirmed that issuance of a testimonial duly signed by authorities of the school to an ex-student cannot be a crime irrespective of the date on it.

“There is clearly more to this exercise than routine investigation. How can a date issue on a testimonial and not a certificate be a matter that attracts the attention of FCIB Alagbon officers from Lagos?

“We therefore call on the police authorities to unconditionally release Mr Abbass Khalib Adejare, the principal of Ede Muslim High School who is currently held in Lagos, a distant and disconnected jurisdiction of school in Ede, Osun State.

“The school under his supervision had only performed a legal administrative duty through the issuance of a testimonial.

Please note that a testimonial is simply a statement of character attestation and confirmation of the years of attendance at the school and not a school certificate,” the statement read.

The spokesperson was silent on the allegations that Adeleke’s claim to have graduated from am American university is also false.

A woman has been arrested for allegedly killing her husband on Lagos Island.

The suspect, 23-year-old Ayeni Damilola who accused her husband, Olumide of infidelity allegedly stabbed him to death shortly after he arrived home from a party on Friday the 3rd of August 2018.

According to sources, the 36-year-old Pharmacist assistant was murdered after his wife told him she heard the voice of a woman the last time he called her on phone.

The father of the deceased who reported the matter to the police described his son as a perfect gentle and demanded for justice.

Here is what Sunday Ayeni said about the untimely death of his son:

“My son and I work at the Lagos Island General Hospital. While I work as a security guard, he worked in the pharmacy department. They got married at the Ikoyi registry.

“They had issues many times and my son reported her to me. I told them to go their separate ways, but people said I should not come between them.

“On Friday, after my son and I closed from work in the evening, he went for a party. Around that time, he called his wife on the telephone and they spoke.

“When he returned home that night, his wife waited for him at the door and stopped him from entering. She said she heard the voice of a woman in the background when they spoke on the telephone and accused him of infidelity. That was how she stabbed him in the chest and killed him. There was no struggle between them. Their two children were taken away by the wife’s mother. She has a three-month-old baby.”

The couple’s two children are currently in the custody of the suspect’s mother.

Sunny Neji who has been off the music scene for a while and in a recent interview has said that though his songs were successful, they didn’t get the accolades they deserved

“Some of my greatest songs did not get the kind of reaction I expected. Oruka and Mr Fantastic can be considered to be some of my most successful songs. Some of my deep materials have not received so much accolade; maybe because they didn’t get the kind of promotion the other ones got”

The gifted singer however acknowledged the need for him to be more active on social media to make his songs more prominent.

“I am not really an extrovert, God created us to be different to create a balance, I am not active on social media, but I know I need to work on it because that is where everything is happening now.”

A senior pastor of the Light City Church, Egan branch, Pastor Gabriel Ajeaga, has been sacked for allegedly sleeping with female members of the church in Lagos, according to PM Express.

This was made public by the head of the church, Pastor (Mrs.) Goodness Onyebuchi, at the court during trial.

Revealing details before the court, Onyebuchi said that what informed her decision to sack Pastor Ajeaga from the church was as a result of complaints of his adulterous life as the female members were no longer safe from his advances.

The head of the church said that she had to take the decision to save the church and the members from further embarrassment and sexual harassment as she had received several complaints and confessions from members.

It was reported that Edo State-born Ajeaga got angry after he was sacked. In rage he took a knife and headed to the pulpit to St@bPastor (Mrs.) Onyebuchi and other members during a church service.

However, he was prevented from doing so and the knife was recovered from him. He was then handed over to the police at Igando Division for his unruly conduct.

It was gathered that Pastor Ajeaga did not spare even the married women in his sexcapades to the extent that he was said to have been eyeing Mrs. Onyebuchi who was also married.

The decision by the head of the church to sack the defendant did not go down well with him as he claimed to have been the one that built up the church. He maintained that it was a ploy to send him away at the time the church had grown and that was why he went to the church to cause havoc.

He was arraigned before Ejigbo Magistrates court and he pleaded not guilty.

Pastor Ajeaga was granted bail but his wife who was supposed to facilitate his bail abandoned him and he remained in prison custody. The wife was said to have believed the allegation by the church, left him to his fate and refused to facilitate his bail.

It was on the adjourned date for trial that Mrs. Onyebuchi narrated before the court what transpired before the defendant was arrested and charged to court. She further stated that apart from coming to the church to attack her, that Pastor Ajeaga also bought raw acid which he had planned to pour on her; the raw acid was recovered in his house and brought to the court as exhibit.

During the cross examination, the defendant denied all the allegation made against him and asked the court for adjournment to enable him to get prepared to cross examine the complainant.

The prosecutor, Mr. G. Simon, did not oppose the motion as requested by the defendant.

Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.K.J. Layeni, adjourned till 16th August, 2018, for the continuation of the cross examination by the defendant.
