GloriousGbola: this person had been calling us for the last 6 months. disturbing us and saying he was now clean. he needed work. i normally the hard headed one was considering putting the guy on a site where he could cause minimal damage. engaging him in probationary capacity. then one morning, he calls a member of the team, while clearly high or maybe coming down and starts threatening the guy. it was surreal. we called the guy and got a whole word salad of nonsense from him. threats, incoherence, etc. it was sad. and this guy was actually a promising guy who could have grown with the company.
it is why large companies have drug, alcohol and health tests. Yes, a lot of drug abuse amongst youth. |

I was unemployed and logged into nairaland and saw an advertisement and I applied I was shock to get interview invitation almost immediately after applying. Immediately started prepping myself.
I passed and was called come and start work and I asked would I be paid for the number of days I am going to work since it only few days to the end of the month, they said yes, I gladly started. Annoyingly I wasn't paid for the number of days worked.
My first staff meeting, was when I knew I cannot even work here. The principal was on his top of his voice shouting aggressively, insulting the teachers and none of them could stand up to him or even ask him down to tone down his voice, right there I knew I was not going to stay long, but I decided to forge ahead.
In the history of the school nobody has done lesson for 4 subjects at 20,000, they do 15 subjects 8k, this brought a lot of grumbling among staff, a school with computer yet teacher cannot use the computer set exam questions, I was the first to use my laptop to type exam questions for the classes I was teaching, hell broke loose. I knew this place ain't meant for me. I was teaching one day when I heard the principal shouting aggressively insulting all the teachers, luckily for me, I already collected salary, I just went to the staff room and took my bags and left.
NB: Parents please 🙏 hav an eagle eyes 👀 on your girl child, a lot are happening in secondary schools. |

GloriousGbola: It is a serious red flag
When hiring people for sensitive positions you want to be sure they have no issues that can make them open to blackmail
A person with a gambling habit, A person with a drug habit A womanizer
All of these can be used by criminals to compromise individuals
And a person who is using the app in the venue of an interview is a problem gambler.
It is all well and good to say your private life is private but it can overlap into your work life, especially in Nigeria where first and foremost what you see in the news is the person's place of employment. X company engineer raped child. X company bank ran person over.
We had an issue years back where there were repeated vandalizations of cars in my close. Maiguard was always asleep when it happened. Later I heard that the maiguard had a gambling problem and finished his money as soon as he was paid. Anyway he is gone and the vandalizations have ended.
I also remember how one of my colleagues started dating an expensive babe and started having serious money problems. The guy started forging expenses. His boss caught him once and they covered it up. Then he did it again and he got caught proper and sacked. All benefits lost. A fking mess.
We had a guy working for us who had drug issues. More than once we heard but the guy was never officially reported as using while working. Then one day he had a psychotic episode and was running round naked and trying to stab people. On site. He was a project supervisor and it was a complete mess as we were working for a large client. We were this close to getting sacked.
In reality, Your private life will overflow into your job one way or another. |

Exousiang01: I live in the UK, I didnt come here on a boat and I am sure I have traveled to more countries than you have. The airports in Nigeria are okay, it will be grave stupidity to waste resources building airports like Doha and Istanbul. And yes I have been to those two. Nigerians and Africans lack good roads, we have food crises, shelter is a major issue and you feel the focus should be building the most beautifu airports in the world?
The busiest airports in the world are not even on that list So even the countries with the busiest airports are not interested in building the most beautiful airports. Everytimes you small minds see anything in the world you compare to Nigeria… How many European or American airports are on that list? Do you think a Briton is insulting the British government for not making the list? Dey make pant dey wear you. Na every thing you want make Nigeria dey do, is that how other countries progress? Small minds be trashing about. Any body with a brain as small as a fish would know that Nigeria doesnt need be focusing on making lists like this True, let's discuss business. What can I export to UK? |

badoh: Learn to appreciate things in your country and call for improvement in public utilities. We all know our leaders are not doing well but castigating your country every time is not good enough. Even if the govt want to improve infrastructure to world class standards, some people will say it's a conduit pipe to siphon public funds. The Presidential Plane was bought and they couldn't tell us how much it was bought plus the national assembly didn't even have an oversight of the purchase, are you thinking 🤔 what am thinking? |

Nigeria's airports face various challenges that contribute to their relatively low ranking globally. Some reasons include: 1. Infrastructure: Outdated and inadequate facilities, such as old terminals, runways, and navigation equipment. 2. Security concerns: Perceptions of insecurity, theft, and corruption. 3. Poor maintenance: Inadequate maintenance of facilities, equipment, and aircraft. 4. Inefficient operations: Long wait times, delays, and inefficiencies in check-in, baggage handling, and immigration processes. 5. Limited amenities: Inadequate or non-existent amenities, such as Wi-Fi, lounges, and dining options. 6. Corruption: Perceived corruption among airport officials and staff. 7. Regulatory challenges: Ineffective regulation, oversight, and enforcement. 8. Funding constraints: Limited investment in airport development and modernization. 9. Capacity issues: Overcrowding and congestion due to increasing passenger traffic. 10. Lack of technology adoption: Slow implementation of modern technologies, such as biometric screening and automated systems. Addressing these challenges requires significant investment, reform, and collaboration among government agencies, airport authorities, and stakeholders to improve Nigeria's airport infrastructure and services. Lumarstone: No Nigeria airport? |
