There was no collateral, the only security used was insurance bond, and other banks cheque (which was presented and bounced back)
How about written documents of his guarantor?
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Bank Loan Recovery Suspension by lavylilly: 7:32pm On Dec 08, 2025
You completed loan appraisal

Loan passed through approval authority
Check if the customer left next-of-kin contacts

Check if he had any collateral, guarantors, or BVN-linked phones

Notify your bank’s credit recovery team to escalate to:

BVN watchlisting

Inter-bank blacklist

CBN Credit Risk Bureau flag

For cross-border issues, some banks work with international skip-trace services

Customer was verified with BVN, address, business doc

You attempted recovery via phone, SMS, and known contacts

Customer abandoned business and absconded

You even attempted to reach the embassy

This protects you from any claim of negligence.

A borrower who intentionally absconds has committed fraud.
But you have not.

This situation is recoverable, and there are structured ways to protect yourself so your career and finances don’t collapse because of one customer’s actions.

Good afternoon,
I’m currently in a dilemma and need your advice.I recently received two job offers:

1. A remote role paying 150k
2. An onsite manufacturing role paying 250k, but transportation costs are 3k daily
Net Salary for both jobs

I’m considering either finding someone trustworthy to help me run the remote job so we can split the salary, or trying to manage both roles myself.

Kindly advise on the best approach.

Thank you.

With the Nigeria Tax Act 2025 taking full effect from 1 January 2026, many SMEs and professionals are still unsure about what actually qualifies as:

1. A taxable supply
2. A deductible business expense
3. A withholding tax (WHT) transaction
4. A digital taxable activity
5. Proper use of fiscalised e-invoicing (MBS)

And because of these grey areas, businesses continue to make avoidable mistakes—leading to penalties, audits, delayed refunds, compliance issues, and unnecessary disputes.

So here’s a question for you:

From your experience, what is the most common tax mistake Nigerian businesses are making today?

Is it:

- Misclassifying income streams?
- Failing to deduct or remit WHT correctly?
- Not issuing valid VAT-compliant invoices?
- Using POS/sales systems without proper fiscalisation?
- Mixing personal and business expenses?
- Or something else entirely?

Share your perspective.
Let’s learn from one another and help businesses get ahead of the 2026 compliance curve.

I’d really appreciate your guidance on a career decision I’m currently trying to make.

I interviewed with an organization back in June 2025, but I only received feedback from them in November 2025. They have now given me an offer with the following details:

Net salary: ₦170,000 (Pension and HMO)

Gross salary: ₦200,000

Additional stipend: ₦5,000 monthly for data

Work structure: Fully remote, but requires five in-person visits per month to the client’s location I currently work remotely

I’m a bit unsure about the long delay between the interview and the offer, and I’m also wondering whether the compensation package is fair for the workload and hybrid arrangement.

Based on this information, do you think I should accept the offer, or is it better to keep searching for something more suitable?

Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: I’m Not Sure Which Option Is Best At This Point. by lavylilly: 6:01pm On Nov 24, 2025
1. Financial Comparison
Let’s calculate the effective monthly income after transport where applicable:

Option A — ₦170,000 (On-site, Mon–Fri)
Transport: ₦1,000/day → ₦1,000 × 22 working days ≈ ₦22,000
Effective pay: ₦170,000 – ₦22,000 = ₦148,000

Option B — ₦250,000 (On-site, Net Pay)
Transport: ₦2,000/day → ≈ ₦44,000
Effective take-home after transport: ₦250,000 – ₦44,000 = ₦206,000

Option C — Remote, ₦300,000
No transport, no commute.
Effective pay: ₦300,000

Option D — Your current remote job: $200
Assuming ₦1,800/$ → $200 = ₦360,000 gross.
No transport.
Effective pay: ₦360,000

From a financial perspective:
🔹 Current remote job ($200) = highest actual income
🔹 Remote ₦300k = second highest
🔹 ₦250k on-site = decent but costlier
🔹 ₦170k = lowest and least attractive financially

2. Career Growth & Stability

Ask yourself:

A. Which role aligns best with your long-term goals?

Which job helps you grow in the direction you want—skills, portfolio, exposure?

Remote roles (especially international/tech-related) often offer better future salary jumps.

B. Stability

The company that ghosted you from September to now and then suddenly resurfaced with a December resumption is a red flag for HR coordination and reliability.

Long silence after interviews often means you were not a priority.

C. Remote roles often give:

- Flexibility
- Less stress
- Room to take side projects
- Higher pay ceiling over time

3. Work–Life Balance

On-site jobs mean:

- Wake early, long commute
- Transport stress
- Higher daily expenses
Less time for personal projects or a second stream of income

Remote jobs mean:

- Zero commute
- More productivity
- More rest
- Greater flexibility
- Ability to upskill

If happiness, peace, and flexibility matter to you, remote is the winner.

4. Putting It All Together

Least advisable option:

1. ₦170,000 with poor communication and lower pay. The long silence and low salary make this the least attractive option.

Second least advisable:
₦250,000 on-site

Better pay than ₦170k but still lower than your current $200 and the ₦300k remote role (after transport), and it reduces flexibility.

Two best options to compare:
Your current $200 remote job (≈₦360k)
New ₦300,000 remote offer

These two clearly stand above the others.

My two cents

Based on your situation:

If the current $200 remote job is stable and there is no sign it will end soon → STAY.

It pays the highest and gives you maximum freedom.

If the ₦300,000 remote offer offers better career growth, more stability, or a stronger brand → TAKE THE ₦300k remote role.

It’s still the second-best financially, and it may grow into something even bigger.

But definitely DO NOT leave a remote ₦360k ($200) job for a stressful ₦170k or ₦250k job.

Simple Decision Guide

Highest income Current $200 remote job
Highest growth Depends, but likely the ₦300k remote role

FamilyLife Changing Lesson by lavylilly(op): 8:55am On Sep 25, 2025
A Life-Changing Lesson

At exactly 4:00 PM on Saturday, I received an unexpected call from our secondary school alumni group. One of our classmates had been languishing in prison since October of last year—over 9 months—due to what should have been a minor traffic offence. Sadly, the case involved a highly influential individual whose car was hit, and the situation was blown far out of proportion.

This morning, I joined a few of our old schoolmates in court, resolved to do whatever we could to secure his release. What I saw broke my heart. Our classmate was a shadow of himself—frail, gaunt, and clearly crushed by the long, lonely months in detention.

We moved quickly: hired a lawyer, made some key calls, and by God’s grace, he was finally released today.

But the real lesson here is far deeper than the legal victory.

What This Taught Me:

1. Don’t Walk Alone in Life
Our classmate lived in complete isolation. No church, no pastor, no active friendships—he had even cut himself off from our alumni group. The last time many of us saw or heard from him was in 1991. When he got arrested, his wife had no one to call. It wasn’t until one of us randomly contacted her that we even learned of his situation.

2. You Were Not Designed to Do Life Alone
From the moment we’re born to the time we leave this world, we need people. Parents, nurses, friends, teachers, colleagues, neighbors—even those who carry our casket. God created us for community, not solitude. Independence is good, but isolation is dangerous.

3. Don’t Push Everyone Away
Some people cut ties with others under the belief that “everyone is bad” or “people can't be trusted.” While caution is wise, total withdrawal is self-sabotage. Not everyone is perfect—but not everyone is harmful. Many are God-sent helpers waiting to show up for you, if only you’d let them in.

4. Community Is a Lifeline
When you live in isolation, even the smallest challenge can become a life-threatening crisis. But when you live in a community, even the biggest problems become manageable. Our classmate’s seven-month ordeal could have been resolved in days—if only he had stayed connected.

5. Relationships Are an Investment
Like a bank account, if you don’t make deposits, you can’t make withdrawals. Nurture your relationships. Check in. Be present. Show up for others—and you’ll find that, in your own time of need, people will show up for you too.

To my classmates who showed up at court today —thank you for reminding us that real friendship does not expire. Your presence, prayers, and actions made all the difference. Let’s keep standing by one another.

Please share this message. You might just reach someone silently suffering in isolation.

Remind them:
You need people. You always will. Don’t do life alone.

Christianity EtcRe: The Rise Of Prophetess Among Older Single Ladies/mothers by lavylilly: 2:56pm On Sep 08, 2025
ediko5:
It's no news that the ultimate game plan of a street girl is to retire to the church if the streets doesn't remunerate her with a money miss road finished man as a husband.

But older single ladies and single mothers are not just retiring from the streets to the church, over the years they are now GOs or Co-GOs of prayer houses in the name of Prophetess.

Some have used this fake prophetess title to lure innocent younger men into marriage while they continue their OS lifestyle. Some have used their prophetess title to break people's marriages.

So be careful out there when you see one old cargo parade herself as a prophetess.
Not every woman who turns to the church is doing it as an escape route or out of failed plans. Many genuinely find faith, healing, and a new direction in life after mistakes or challenges.

Yes, there are people—both men and women—who exploit religion for selfish gains. But it’s unfair to generalize all older single ladies, single mothers, or prophetesses as being manipulative or fake.

Some of these women have gone through deep struggles and have found strength in God. Others are sincerely helping lives, not breaking homes.

So instead of assuming every "prophetess" is a fraud, the wiser approach is to test people by their fruits—their actions, integrity, and impact. That way, we won’t dismiss the genuine ones because of the bad eggs.
EducationRe: Schools Resume Amid Biting Economy by lavylilly: 11:56am On Sep 08, 2025
Honestly it no longer funny. This are getting tougher and harder daily.

Honestly, these parents aren’t asking for too much. Mrs. Adeyemi’s point is simple—why should families be forced to buy new uniforms when the old ones are still perfectly fine? It only adds unnecessary pressure to parents already battling rising costs.

And Ismail’s frustration is very valid. Spending nearly ₦2 million per term just to give his children decent education is not sustainable for most households. Education should not feel like a luxury that only the wealthy can afford. If public schools were properly funded and given back their lost glory, many families wouldn’t need to overstretch themselves or even compromise their values just to pay fees.

It’s true—if government officials themselves enrolled their children in public schools, there would be more accountability. After all, no parent wants to see their own child struggling in substandard conditions. Education is a right, not a privilege, and the government has the responsibility to make sure quality learning is accessible to every Nigerian child.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Do You Think This New Offer Is Worth Considering, Or Should I Just Reject It Out by lavylilly: 5:12pm On Sep 07, 2025
Honestly, this offer isn’t worth it. You’re already earning over $200 in your current remote Manager role, and they’re offering just $66 with even more responsibilities. That’s a huge step down, not just in pay but in value recognition.

With your accounting background and years of experience, you should be positioning yourself for higher-paying, specialized roles—not settling for less. Unless there’s a clear long-term benefit (like global exposure, networking, or a direct path to something bigger), I’d advise you to reject it politely and keep your focus where your worth is properly appreciated.

In short: Don’t downgrade yourself. Protect your value.

RomanceRe: Every Girl Needs Three Other Boyfriends, Says Tacha by lavylilly: 5:47pm On Sep 01, 2025
kiss
Honestly, Tacha isn’t far from the truth. Many young women rush into relationships too quickly, putting all their hopes, emotions, and even future in the hands of one man—only to end up hurt or stuck. What she’s really saying is that women should give themselves room to breathe, to explore, to learn, and to know their worth before tying themselves down.

Having “three boyfriends” doesn’t have to mean being intimate with all of them—it simply means keeping your options open until you know who truly values you. Men do this all the time without shame, but when a woman even tries to weigh her choices, society criticizes her. That double standard is real.

Her advice to stay “single until marriage” is also about protecting yourself emotionally and mentally. Why act like a wife to someone who hasn’t married you yet? Why close doors when your actual husband might still be out there? It’s wisdom, not waywardness.

And about life abroad, she’s spot on—many Nigerians glamorize “japa” stories, but the reality is often full of struggles, isolation, and hustling just to survive. At home in Nigeria, even with the challenges, there’s a sense of community—you can lean on people, laugh with neighbors, and still find joy in the little things. That human connection is priceless.

At the end of the day, Tacha’s message is about women being smart, intentional, and unafraid to put themselves first—while also appreciating what we still have here and channeling our energy into building the Nigeria we dream of.
