Focus on disintegration rather than Igbo or any group ruling. Focus on disintegration but if Nigeria does not breakup, an Igbo person will eventually become President again fairly and not by arm twisting others. Igbos have headed the country thrice. Azikiwe two times and Ironsi once Yoruba is five times Obasanjo three times, Shonekan once and Tinubu once NW seven times Muritala once Shagari twice, Yaradua once and Buhari three times Northern Christians one time of Gowon Niger state two times of Babangida and Abdulsalam NE tone and a half time Abacha, Balewa supporting Zik. Southern minorities two times Good luck Jonathan All counting the number of times oaths were taken I don't see anywhere here that the Igbos were marginalized because even after the civil war, one of them was VP and they shared in ruling, in making decisions, determining who gets what and etc. Therefore they are not marginalized. Akwa-Cross people are almost half of Igbo in population and wouldn't you think they should have at least one slot if Igbos have had three? The contribution of Yoruba to Nigeria in population and taxes is easily three times that of Igbos, don't you think they should have nine slots if Igbos have three but they have only four. So Igbos are not and have never been marginalized. Then the number of people that died in the civil war due to famine according to the CIA is around 500k. 3 million is a huge number and it will be up to half of the total Igbo population back then if not more. I believe the people killed by firearms on both sides can not be up to 50k. Therefore the figure is wrong. Join those seeking for Nigeria to break up because that is what can ensure development of the whole region of west Africa and if we don't succeed then an Igbo man will at one point become leader again but the claim of Igbo marginalization is totally unfounded |
NinjaMetahuman:Per Capita income matters and per Capita income is a result of cost of living. If your cost of living is very high as a country your per Capita income will be high and you will be classified as a rich country and you will have many dollar millionaires as a result but the real estate they own and even the stock will not be worth a tenth of their value in a low income country In a place like Banana island, real estate is like equity, practically nobody is having one billion naira on a building without using that capital somewhere else. People who build house without c of o don't build in that kind of place |
NinjaMetahuman:Are you that person's accountant? Do you know how much they are owing banks? Or do you think a flashy lifestyle is easy or cheap to maintain? |
You will become rich if the church is not blocking you. The only path to prosperity is to save and then invest those savings in a profitable business. If it is a business you are running yourself and you have visible structure, cash flow and human resources, then help in form of investors will naturally come just like if you are into crime, you will get help too. It is like the common saying 'If you want to go anywhere and no one is ready to go with you then start off alone and you will meet people along the way with the same destination in mind'. It works like that every time. The church however want you to believe you only become rich if you pay tithe or if you are favoured by God because that is what serves their own interests. That is what grows their revenue and this is what makes the church the most dangerous institution threatening the development of any economic space. They are in competition with government for revenue but are promoting principles that runs down an economy by saying industry and vision is not enough or not even required to get anyone ahead. I have experienced this first hand from the biggest private churches in Nigeria ie the RCCG, the winners chapel and the Deeper Life Bible Church. The RCCG as an institution is my number one adversary and they did not succeed in assassinating me only because a US led coalition of nations is protecting me, same is also true for the winners chapel. The Deeper Life blocked one Globacom line of credit from me that every other dealer in Ile ife including those far smaller than my venture was were enjoying back then. The Deeper Life also blocked Stanqueen Investment of Ikeja Lagos from collaborating with me amongst many others but they did not get to the extent of paying assassins as did the other two. All in a bid to make sure someone who is not attached to a church does not make it big in business. They were not satisfied with the millions of followers they already have paying tithe to them. They want everybody. The Catholic church also gave the nod to Enoch Adeboye when he informed then he will make a move against me in response to my online activities. Therefore Islamic militants may be brandishing guns but what Christian leaders are doing is of far more harm to any country. While the Muslims are dangerous, the Christian leaders are outright evil. Muslim fundamentalists carry on like people with psychiatric problems but Christian leaders are just evil. |
Putinofrussia:In today's world, it is the nation that has the highest cost of living that is considered the richest. |
esnbrutality:Ijesa is the chief producer of kolanuts and it is worth 1.4 billion dollars with the largest share going to Ijesa Ijesa is a main producer of cocoa and it is worth over 2 billion dollars Ijesa produces coffee second only to Kogi and the best in Nigeria Ijesa produces excess cassava, excess palm oil and many other excess farm produce Ijesa exports pharmaceuticals and brewery products as well as other manufactured products Ijesa receives remittance from Ijesa in Europe, North America and etc I don't see how all these when added up will not touch two billion dollars a year if Ijesa were an independent country. However the forex is used to pay for imports and Ijesa do not have the population to compete with New York |

prophetfire:It isn't that difficult to do the actual counting because such people are visible and are known to banks. A man worth one million dollars in a second tier Nigerian city will have a visible business with monthly income well over ten million naira if all the funds are in the business and if the funds are in real estate, he will own at least 50 units of well finished three bed room flats. How many people like that do you know? |
It is to do with the value of real estate A 30,000 dollar real estate in Nigeria is valued say 200k dollars in South Africa. Nigeria's per Capita income is less than 1k dollars while SA's is like 5k dollars. A millionaire in SA in real estate is not worth 200k dollars in Nigeria |
ruzell86:Yes they would have done the same or worse. Obj spent sixteen billion dollars on the power sector with no result and the cost of a 1000 MW power plant is only one billion dollars. The money for 16000 MW went down the drain. So they are all the same including even Obj not to talk of Atiku or Obi. Infact Obj is better than Atiku or Obi. Anyone that wants to prove to be better should direct the code of conduct bureau to publish all asset declaration forms that they have ever submitted to the bureau |
esnbrutality:You have no understanding of how things work and you call other people dull. Forex that flows into Nigeria is close to 100 billion dollars a year and oil is not up to 25 at most 30 billion dollars of that. Oil also currently is not more than 25 percent of federal income and if states and LG that geberate income are added, it will still be lower. If Ijesa land of six local governments as small as we are should stand alone, we will be generating up to two billion dollars in forex. You clearly don't understand all these things |
ExudeLoveToAll:The way forward is to divide the country. |
esnbrutality:What he has done is that he demonstrated that Nigeria can run without oil money and that is an achievement. He did the same in Lagos but you will also say it is not an achievement when infact any state with a serious governor could have done the same and be running without oil money. Do I support his loans? No but would any other President that more than tripled revenue have borrowed? Definitely Yes. Buhari borrowed till 96 percent of federal income had to be used to pay interests. I don't think thirty percent of income is going towards interests now. So the amount he borrowed and the amount he payed back are results of new revenue. If Buhari had the same revenue he would have borrowed multiple times what we are now owing while printing more currency to boot. Then if he does not use the money now and he loses next year then the next government can relax and return us to the old ways of devaluing the currency to raise revenue and dependence on oil money. If they have loans to pay, they will be forced to continue on the right path That is the only argument for the loans. Outside that I believe government should have excess and invest it into the economy including into companies rather than using it to fund inflated contracts. |
esnbrutality:I am not a member of the APC and I am not part of those campaigning for Tinubu but what he achieved is what I have explained to you above and to me that is the most important thing any leader has achieved since the end of the civil war. Moreso as I have been campaigning online for that particular change since 2007. I understand the economic problem Nigeria has but most Nigerians don't and they focus on corruption when corruption in Nigeria and Russia are ranked the same and many countries are ranked higher. The main way Nigeria is different from Ghana, Niger, Cameroon, Cote dIvoire is dependence on oil money which is not even enough to run the country and that is why all those countries are better run apart from the deadly competition going on among the groups in Nigeria and other minor problems. The present administration has returned the country to factory settings and no part can say they will have no revenue if the country divides. It is a major achievement. The problem of deadly and unhealthy competition can only be solved by dividing the country so that every group can secure their land with men under arms. |
esnbrutality:You are a kid and a novice in how states are run. If you don't have enormous natural resources to sell, is it the 100 naira you are seeing from oil which is not enough for nations one twentieth your population that you are going to change the country with? Nigeria to you is a dying economy but it owns the highest number of private jets in Africa and imports the most luxuries but to your warped mind it is a dying economy that should not be taxed? As for me failing, you can never measure up to a millionth of what I have achieved |
Tochi360:You shouldn't believe in one Nigeria. Those who do are looking for a chance to ride on others. They incidentally don't believe in state police as well. |
brain54:You people have no real interest in the things you argue about online. Foreigners are more interested in the growth of the country than you are, other wise you would not be asking this type of question https://punchng.com/non-oil-revenue-now-75-of-federation-funds-report/ https://www.nigerianstat.gov.ng/
|
SmartPolician:No. The President who did the most important work since 1970 at least to me because that is what I have been clamouring for since 2007 is the one that weaned Nigeria off oil dependence. That President is President Bola Tinubu. The biggest problem of Nigeria since the military incursion into politics in 1966 is 200 million people whose nation can not work without oil money. That was the biggest economic problem of Nigeria and it was caused by the military and it has now been solved by the current administration. |

The Lagos-Calabar road was awarded at over five times the average cost of road construction in India and they also have corruption in India. However Obi or Atiku would have done exactly the same and most Governor's are doing the same in their states |
onuman:Yes but why is Tinubu not doing the little he can do by sacking and prosecuting the NSA who is sending unknown gunmen as vigilantes to communities under the attack of unknown gunmen? If nothing gets better after then, no one will accuse him of causing or aiding the death of more Nigerians |
IsraeliAIRFORCE:Nigeria when compared to high income countries do not have a cost of living crisis. Nigeria is probably the cheapest to live in of all big nations. High cost of living caused by high rent exists only in a handful of highbrow areas in Nigeria |
Thomasankara:Poetry is always like that |
Local governments should take over disco functions in their territories for solar only. They should invite investors for mini plants of 33kw which will produce 170kwh per day and can serve up to thirty homes. Thousands of these plants in any local government will guarantee twelve hours of power everyday while the other grid takes care of the rest. People can also use batteries. Nobody should be allowed to use solar independently and ninety percent of money collected by the local government discos should go to investors. Nobody should be allowed to meter on their own but they can monitor their consumers. Local governments just need to install software and distribute meters |

Why do people say rent control is not a good policy? The current cost of living crisis where things end up being fifty times more expensive in some countries than in some other countries is ours to solve. I don't know of any other civilization in human history that had such a problem where housing especially became ultra expensive in some regions compared to other regions leading to the same differential in the cost of services. There is therefore no precedent. The solution is rent control and rent control is not anti free market as some people may want to argue. The government already controls many things and nobody complains that the action is anti free market. The government fixes the minimum wage, the retirement age, the interest rate and many other things and it does not affect the free flow of the free market. The government do not need to control the price of goods that can move across borders like food, manufactured products and etc but housing that can not be moved and that is as essential as food needs more monitoring. If housing could be imported, there would have been no issues but just like many activities in the service sector, housing can not be imported and the cost of housing just like the cost of feeding impacts every other thing including the cost of services. The government can fix rent by considering the cost of construction and leaving a generous margin for investors so that the sector can remain attractive to all kinds of investors including the government. Five percent per annum or even less is more than enough as returns on real estate and the real value of any real estate is what it's value would have been if it were built in a low income country like North Korea, Nigeria, Haiti, Ethiopia and etc except that it can even be a bit lower because the construction engineers in those low income countries use some materials imported from high income countries, it can also be a bit higher because those countries may have a low tax to GDP ratio which makes lower wages possible in those low income countries and this will impact on the cost of construction of real estate in the countries. Rent control is possible and it is the solution and the value of quality real estate in low income countries should be the guide. |
yemmight:What he means is that the Tinubu government is the one keeping a NSA that was caught sending unknown gunmen to Nigerian communities under the attack of unknown gunmen as vigilantes. If any of these bandits are caught by the natives, Mallam Ribadu will say they are government vigilantes. Imagine catching Fulani who don't speak English armed with assault rifles in a Benue village and the NSA insisting they are government vigilantes. That is what the President is supporting in Ribadu |
The military constitution preventing your emancipation as an ethnic group is illegal. It was not ratified by Nigerians |
The true fiscal capacity of a Nigerian state Nobody can convince me that people exist in Nigeria that can not spare one hundred naira a day for the advancement of the state because the average amount spent per Capita in Nigeria per day is over one thousand naira if we consider only food without other expenses. This means any state with five million people can generate at least five hundred million naira per day without breaking a sweat. It would amount to fifteen billion naira a month. The masses would not even feel it and the average state has a population over five million people. If they had the tax drive of western Europe, they would be able to do three times this revenue and they will only tax economic activities The implication is that no ethnic group should tie it's destiny to federal allocations. The money you need as an ethnic group to develop your space is in your bossom. The original Nigerian constitution without military input also says you should be given autonomy on demand through state creation and it is the illegal military constitution that created a barrier The President is doing his part, though he can do more because differentials in VAT and CIT collection should correlate with population differentials but it does not yet. He is however doing something that is commendable just like what he initiated in Lagos when he was governor It is now the state governors and the local government chairmen that should add their own effort. A state with five million people will, no matter what, have over five hundred thousand people earning income from minimum wage up and if you are earning income then you have no excuse not to pay personal income tax if the minimum wage is enforced on all employers. Any employer that does not want to pay the minimum wage that can be taxed should go and set up in a different state and if no state in Nigeria will allow such, then you move out of the country. A business that can not pay a living wage should not exist at all. With at least five hundred thousand people paying income tax, part of the fifteen billion naira monthly target for a state of five million population will be easily realized. The local governments also have their own revenue sources such as signs and adverts, produce tax and others. I used one hundred naira per head minimum to be collected between federal, states and local governments per day but in actual fact, one thousand naira per head per day can be collected on average because any society is a mix of well off and struggling people. Any constituency you are heading as executive head maybe as President, Governor or local government chairman, do realize that you are holding your people back economically if you are not harnessing your constitutionally allowed sources of revenue |
aariwa:You don't understand that Yoruba are plenty and are being cheated by Nigeria. If SE has 5 states then SW should have 13 or 14. Then after being given that 13 or 14 states for the SW they still will not share their land as bonanza to non Yoruba. Why? Because they themselves do not ask for special privileges in places where they have huge numbers in Nigeria like PH, Awka, Jos, Kano and etc or do you think Lagos is more cosmopolitan than PH? or more than Kaduna? Or that Yoruba are not economic players in major cities across the country? So now that the SW has six states instead of thirteen that should have been theirs by right given their population, how do you think it will be easy for them to give up one state to be shared with outsiders when those outsiders in their region have already been given far more than what their population say is their fair share? |
WizardOfNG:Why is a classless society not good for Nigeria? Any country can become where your net worth rise as you age and your HDI is high. That would be a classless society. The average sixty year old can be a PhD worth up to fifty million naira. It is not hard to achieve. Our Engineers are not that bad but it is not graduates that build things but companies and those companies do have secrets. How graduates can help is they can easily be taught those secrets as they have a basic understanding of how things work in the discipline where they have honours. You need to train graduates and even with thousands trained, you can try for decades and not get a basic thing right unless a company with trade secrets agrees to help you |
