Jesusloveyou:because the constitution said SIMPLE MAJORITY. s majority of 109 senators is 55 approximation in electing a principal officer but the constitution provided for a 2/3 majority which is 72 senators to impeach the SP or the DSP. That's why the APC supremacy did not immediately impeach Saraki because they have 59 and not 72 senators... Hope u got it now? |
TonyeBarcanista:in a long lasting cases and judicial precedents, the courts have said that 2/3 means that of the whole house and not those voting. The election of Saraki would have been a Constitutional error if the law had provided for a 2/3 because PDP would not have mustered it.. My argument is not just a mere thinking the supreme court supports my opinion and that was their decision in the locus classicus of INAKOJU VS ADELEKE, DIAPIALONG VS DARIYE KADUNNA STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMLY VS LADOJA.. if u can read these cases u will get the implications of my argument and the rationale for such decision.. He can't be impeached by only APC Senators forming quorum. Ekiti speaker WAS NOT mpeached. it was a political battle between PDP Fayose v APC house of assembly which lasted until another election was conducted and he was prevailed over to withdraw his case in court when Fayose said he wanted settlement |
Politics is beyond the way u all reason... The little advantage available would have been dastardly. If DSP was impeached remember, there re some APC members who would have objected and even though it were successful. Then Saraki is gone. Don't u think Lawal and Akume still nurse their wounds, Tinubu would ha cashed in one vengeful politics with PDP Senators and then impeach Saraki immediately. It was a different scenario when PDP refused to elect one of their own as a senate president. This would have been a die situation for Saraki so he chose to play safe |
Nonsense.... Biafra |
If Wike's cohort can start imitate and establish a fake newspaper with the sole aim of tarnishing the image of his benefactor then am not surprised about this. |
All I have to say is...... Another Lion of the tribe of burdillion has risen... He is the Jagaban... The slayer of the wailers |
But babe ain't beautiful.... Sorry though but that's the truth. Buhari deserves someone better. |
Inec is too busy to play this petty politics and besides where is ur source. |
You sentimentally tried but let me point to that FACT raised by u that PDP can stop Amechi. From whatever angle presented by you it is definitely impossible to have stopped him.. Going to court won't stop him because senate standing rule says that no matter in court should be entertained at the assembly which was the only reason why he was cleared. Organising civil right activist to protest is the lease powerful. It seems u have forgotten the name Musiliu Obanikoro.. How many times were protest staged but he was definitely confirmed. I mean all the are charade the best PDP could have done is what they did. To me it is the most viable available options. |
It seems u didn't practically understand the constitutional implications of the position of the DSP.. Now, his position is as solidified as ever, one he never staged a walk out with his colleagues hence he is still favoured by the ruling party. Secondly, even though he should be axed along part line APC lacks the majority to do same. The can firm a quorum to determine any biz aside impeachment.. The purport of 2/3 means that of the WHOLE HOUSE and not merely those sitting and voting. Now the maths. APC lawmakers can never form the required majority to remove him even Saraki without the help of PDP Senators. |

T8ksy:bro which of the second Republic re u talking of.. Cos the only second Republic nigeria ever had was that of 1979 which was contested by 5parties.NpN, Npp, GNPp upp and prp. And if I read well NPN won the election electing Shagari. Brother, what seemed as a coalition to you WAS never a coalition, it was called National government at the centre. The Igbos had their candidate in Npp yoruba flouted Upp. So where did u have a coalition government. For the sake of these little ones, do not misrepresent facts for posterity sake pls... Igbos NEVER WILLING had coalition with the north aside that of 1960 can't figure out how u think Ncnc could have had coalition with AG that was in opposition. Npc was in clear lead and needed just simple parliamentary seat to emerging the ruling party hence the need for a coalition. It was rather Awo who aligned with Gowon to anihiliatd the Igbos during the civil war for a paltry office. |
I think Akpabio lacks the moral ground to stand at that hallowed chambers to talk of corruption. If anything corrupt burdens anyone it is the PDP Senators. How many of them can confidently tap his chest and say.. I won my election and can win against even in a rerun. Is it Theodore orji or the Akpabio billion EFCC's scandal, is it senator odua gate.. Please someone should come to my aid.. What of the south called Sen anyanwu or Sekibo.. I wept when Sekibo stood the other day to tender the petition against amechi.. Has he forgotten that he was indicted in 2007 with Omehia when Amechi constituted a panel and was late favoured to win a senatorial seat.. Gilbert nnaji is not worth being there his election has been successfully being annulled, he has 18days to go or is is David mark whose shame has blindfolded to talking to his colleagues... Name any senator there that has no moral burden to battle with... Ben Bruce is now quuet Am just tired of this charade and facades called opposition walk out. |
zuchyblink:including custom service job that many Igbos died for.. Face facts and truth not personality.. What Buhari did was tribalistic but he must have his reasons.. So let the Igbos go nd nurse their wounds at the river flooded otuoke |
noblezone:Now sincerely bro. When the issue of the confab came up, I took my time to research and I can authoritatively tell u that the confab was unconstitutional. Now, the only way I think it can have the force of law is if it is backed by the legislature, by passing it into law through the process of bill introduction. And remember most of the resolutions bother mainly on constitutional expansion like state creation meaning that section 9 that talkes about constitutional amendments must still be followed. And as much as I know, these things listed here have not seen the red chambers nor the green chambers. And if it dares, DO U HONESTLY believe that the north will support the creation of more state for example or some other knotty resolutions in the confab report to scale through the modalities of constitutional amendments so as to pass the confab resolution .... I think no. What do u think? |

T8ksy:I guess u have a different history book from the one I read... The the alignment u so said is sad that u didn't know the come about. The coalition of NCNC with Npc was to bypass a constitutional impasse when Npc couldn't not form a national government. The Western leaders have always wanted to align with their brothers the Igbos.. Awolowo had a coalition with NCNC and formed a party at the centre.. UPGA. while Akintola, whose blood I think runs in ur vein, chose the north and betrayed his brother Awo to ring the election to favour his northern imperialist. |
When statement that Senator Ali Ndume made that has been overlooked by many is this. It is quiet worrisome that u too, op didn't realise it.... He said.. The minority will always have their say but the majority will have their way...... Now do the maths... South East, West and South combined can not pull a string above the north but in national assembly and the States. Even if the whole south votes en block they will still fail.. When south West worked out it was so Lilliputian to affect the parley so it went on as u said.. So until the south and North are made equal the owl will still hoot at the back door. |
Where was he indicted for corruption. The law says a man is innocent until proven guilty . But Nigerians have made him guilty awaiting his appeal to upturn their sentence. Senseless.. Amechi, during his screening emphasised that he was not indicted and that he came with the papers to show same. So where are these gullible liars bringing out news that he is corrupt when a competent court or panel has not proven him guilty.. Remember what was set up by Wike can never pass the true test of a competent panel so what ever arose from that show of shame is a nullity.. And the senate acted inline with their rules not to interfere in any matter in court which Akpabio refused to know.. I don't blame him, he is very inexperienced about legislative business and scooped the leadership of myopic opposition.. |

What re mods for cos there ain't needed.. Only to bring stupid threads about celebrities to front page and discard the main mews and things... Bunkum. |

God forbid. In a desperate mood to garner sympathy. In a saner clime APC Senators would have denied him a ministerial slot. Are PDP Senators not worth working with... Shame on him.. I am not surprised that there was power outage. When I went to inquire about prepaid meter at NEPA. EEDC office in Shibiri, ojo LGA. There were unsurprisingly using generator. So not new. |
Beehshorp:I don't blame you, I blame your brain that has refused to think and reason logically. Who betrayed who, Amechi or Jonathans. Have u forgotten how Jonathan forced amechi to forget NGF election and later counted 16 to be more than 19. Have u forgotten the travails of Amechi in the Hands of mama piss. O! U seem to forget that Mbu while being a police governor always said that he received orders from above. And finally bro, they re not brothers. Amechi is my brother he is Igbo while Jonathan is Ijaw. Go and watch the speech of Amechi during the presidential election campaign in Imo. Committee of wailers. |
Utchgirl:As of now, the man in charge has, through actions, demonstrated that he is better working with northerners so what re we saying. What if he appoints southerners and flop, u will demand for his head. I will better give him an opportunity and the criticise him when he fails with his henchmen. |
Utchgirl:what matters to me and most right thinking NIGERIANS is that a right person for the job is appointed be him northerner or southerner. Nigeria is one.. Or re u a Biafran? |
Must he sit there to be the DSP.. No ooo. He has the pecks of office as the no 5th man.. His lodge cars and guard so what else.. If he must preside remember that he is the president of ECowas parliament so he has got nothing to loose. Preside or not what he wants is the record as stated by Amechi... I want to minister after this a senator. Because a senator said I ve never occupied this position.. That is Nigeria for you.... RECORDS. |
Utchgirl:maybe u should get the fact straight and know that okotie is not a political jobber. Even after saying that Buhari is surrounding himself with bad men during election he was one of the few individuals picked by buhari to accompany him on outside visit when he won. He deserves a place in the cabinet. |
