Catfish business is such an interesting and lucrative business only for the PATIENT and REAL fellow! All Biz's has ups and downs, light n dark sides, dis page of agriculture isn't an exemption but how do I overcome and wade through d though thread of the business?
Many people jump in n out of our field owing to the fact that the loss is huge, Yeah! It might be huge, but its always for newbies dat want to a return to scale that will change d world in their first attempt by investing millions in a business u never tried with few tens of thousands!
I know of few retirees that planed to invest their gratuity in Catfish but ended up with regret, Why? almost all their eggs were dumped in a basket without seeking for knowledge from d real and active players in the industry. There are lots of "paper catfish farmers" everywhere with not even a pond, misleading a lot of prospective giant breeders.
Best Approve For Newbies
Are you a new comer in the industry? Why not seek for knowledge from active player with reasonable track record and visible achievement with loudable and recomendable testimonies, enough of online training, go to the mud and get your hands into the mud n pull off your cash, its real but must be visibly approached.
After your live training, do not jump into "I want to make my millions within a production cycle", try your hand on few fish seed like BTW 100-500 pieces to know how far you will go when you begin to make your millions. .....an ocean they say begins with a drop of water, so never despise an humble beginning!
Are you an active Player
For active farmer or " once upon a time famer", if you had for any reason regret your attempt in d industry, try to retrace ur steps and effect a redress.
Possible Mistake and solution!
*Poor knowledge before investment
>Always seeks for advice from reliable and active farmer with good and visible track record.
*Poor site location;
>Always site your pond not beside river but close to running stream DAT supplies water round the year, for concrete pond owner, regular water supply with pumping gadget is pertinent to the success.
* Poor catfish seed sourcing;
> Never source for your fish seed via referral chain/ an intermediary, go get it yourself, always research about d antecedent of the vendor/ seller, cz the success of the farming cycle is absolutely dependent on the source of fingerlings/juvenile.
* Poor/ Inadequate/overfeeding>
> Endeavour to use d first class feeding to kick start your cycle for first 2 month after stocking and minimum if you can't feed them with reliable imported feed till table sized stage, Never under feed or over feed as this may lead to high mortality or stunted and uneven growth. Avoid irregular feeding z catfishes are configured to certain feeding period of the day!
* Effect of Predator;
>. Ensure a weed free environment to prevent crawlers and it should be well netted with either 1 or 2 fingered net at most, to serve as trap for flying birds and crawlers.
*The Pond;
>* For Earthen Pond, owner, your pond mustn't b beside a river but close to a running stream, it should be packed at the base with sacked sands, it must be with reasonable water inlet and outlet to prevent overflowing which could aid huge loss in time of heavy downpour, all ponds must be limed to rid off all pre existing predator before stocking.
>*For Concrete Pond Owner, consult an expert before embarking on d pond construction, always use a compatible dimension and use adequate cement while plastering d pond, the base must be well concrete to avoid draining of water or cracking. Created a shade for the pond to reduce dehydration/ rise in the water temperature which could tress off d stock.
* Health Tips;
> always be observant, note any change in their normal behaviour or appearance and reach out to measures to cub or reduce such. Any viral or bacterial infection must be treated immediately and a change is expected immediately within few days, 2/3 @ maximum, anytime short of that must be reported to an health expert! Note: unlike other livestock, Fisheries health management is one of the cheapest for farmer with prompt approach in time of occurrence.
* Sorting and Test Cropping
> Regular sorting must be duly done to cub and reduce cannibalism which may result from uneven growth due to improper feeding as aforementioned, fishes should be separated according to their sizes and stocked separately.
Marketing:
Never start marketing at point of cropping, instead source for buyers a month from/to cropping, always windowshop or ask questions about current market price before cropping, you can eliminate intermediary if possible for better profit, you can embark on processing for more profits.

The estimated cost is 1.2M naira.
Note: I estimated 8courses of blocks after blinding, i used blocks all through as stated that it is dry land.

Doing the burglary window
Installing wiring

Which should I do first and why. I think I should do wiring first but I worry without burglary window my wiring would be stolen it happened to my friend and if I plaster first how would I get the wiring into the conduit and if I do window first how would that affect the plastering later. Any ideas will be appreciated

Good morning everyone finally found the forum am looking for. I have a quote of 45k to plaster just the inside of a 1 bedroom self contained, the room is 12x12,parlor is 12x14, toilet is 6x8 and the kitchen is also 6x8. Materials needed is 12 bags of cement, sand, sharp sand and water. The 45k is just for labor is this reasonable? This is in Igode within Ikorodu.
