OP you are not alone. I remember back then I do look up to nairaland for good ideas and great concepts on the next hot topic to discuss with family, friends and colleagues. Then discussions here were educative, engaging and fun but now I'm afraid not. That said, some few threads still stand out like the NSEMPA in the investment section (My favourite of all time). @Seun, I would like you to take a clue from Reddit where registered members can submit contents, such as text posts or direct links. Only registered users can then vote submissions "up" or "down" to organize the posts and determine their position on the site's pages. In the case of nairaland, there should be "like" and "dislike" votes to make a post to be balanced instead of "share" thing that was created. Also, to bring credibility back to nairaland, a submission score should be created. A submission's score should simply be the number of likes minus the number of dislike. For example, say if five users like post and three users don't it, the submission will have a score of 2. This will bring balance and credibility to a post and as such a post with high score will then make the front page. 5 Likes |

Good morning all, please I need some help and advice. I just activated e-dividend account for most of my shares. Currently I have loads of unclaimed expired dividend cheques spanning back to the last 4 years. Is it still possible to claim these dividends? if YES, can they be paid as e-dividend to my account? And what is the processes like? Thanks |

buzor01: Pls guys, what about ATAS certificate....I'm scared Some courses require ATAS while some don't. Your Uni will let you know if it is required which will be stated on the offer letter. For those whose courses require ATAS will need to apply on time because it takes atleast four (4) weeks (20 working days- absolutely nothing you can do about it) for ATAS to be ready. All subject areas studied at UK Higher Education Institutions are identified by a JACS (Joint Academic Coding System) code. Note that taught courses which have the JACS code beginning H8 and start on or after 1 January 2012 also require ATAS clearance. I hope this helps. Goodluck |

catchdwind4rmkd: For the PhD and LSS guys, the list for successful scholars is now out on the PTDF website. Very true. PTDF has always used that hotel for inductions. For the PhD scholars, PTDF is abit harsh this year o, one scholar per state for two years combined . It used to be two per state then, maybe they're cutting cost. Big congrats to the successful ones, it can only be God's favour to be the only one selected from a whole state. For those yet to get their CAS there is no need to worry! Proof of funding letter will be issue to scholars during the induction which you'll scan and send to your schools then follow up with calls and emails for the school to send your CAS. Enjoy |

catchdwind4rmkd: Guy, you're doing a great job here. Hey! I'm not trying to scare you o. Just making sure the whole processes go flawless without any itch. I'm not surprise for Manchester Uni, alot of PTDF scholars go to Manchester. If you're very interested in going to RGU for the drilling and Well Enginering, I may want to offer my assistance to make sure you get your offer letter by next week. You can PM me the name of the person that is corresponding to you. I'll help you follow up next week and lets see how it goes from there. If I may ask, what course did you apply for in Manchy? ACSE? Best of luck |

catchdwind4rmkd: You guys have to be proactive, you don't have to wait till you get to Abuja before you can get proof of sponsorship. Get the page where the list of successful candidates was published on PTDF site, save it in pdf and send to the school you applied to as a proof. Indicate the number your name is and explain to them that the official letter isn't out yet. Most schools here in the UK know PTDF very well and they don't joke with them, because PTDF are heavily loaded with cash . Don't be surprise when you discover that in some courses in different schools, PTDF sponsored students are more than half in a class. The induction will be in Abuja, and if you get there without CAS, you'll do everything everyone else does but you'll not be going to the embassy for visa processing. The visa application usually takes place during the last two days of the induction. Although, during the induction, proof of sponsorship will be giving out for scholars to send to their various schools if they're in need of either admission letter, CAS or accommodation. You then follow them up with emails and phone calls. Phone calls are usually quicker and they'll respond immediately. FYI, after the induction, while waiting for the visa to be ready make sure you all get your accommodation with proof ready otherwise PTDF would't book your flight and send you to the UK even if your course has started, reason being that they don't want their scholars to come over here and be stranded. Once you arrived here you're strictly on your own. I'm sure you all will be fine but make sure you play your part, be smart and brace up for the endless opportunities before you. I wish you all best of luck. 3 Likes 1 Share |

SSGUniport: @Lazinc, Please What And What Was Done During Your Set's Induction? Eat, sleep, wake up, watch TV and gist with friends. That was on a lighter note. Some few presentations, enlightenment about life in the UK, do some documentation and then VISA application for those that have their CAS and other documents ready. PTDF will take you guys to the consulate on convoy with some preferential treatments as 'big boys and girls' concern. To be honest is one week of flexing, so make use of that opportunity to eat better food before coming over to the UK to eat rubbish 1 Like |

I entered the conference call late, so I missed the opening remark of WT. Loads of questions for the cowboys, though they managed to answer some very well with some keys facts *** Right issue is in the pipeline, this is to reduce Oando PLC stake in the group and to create more liquidity *** All the proceeds accrued by COP from the start to close of the deal (the drama period) were plunged back into the deal to reduced the acquisition cost itself. ***The group now owns producing (OML 60, 61,62, & 63), development(OML 122, 134, 90, 13) and Exploration (OML 145, 131, OPL 321, 323) blocks (I'm sure most of you know this already) Oga @Yem0350, CEO MorganCapital also asked WT a very important question during the conference call which he declined to answer. I'm sure he will give more updates. 5 Likes |

catchdwind4rmkd: Each time I see the comments that we can change course as verified by contact with PTDF, I feel very happy. Not necessary. I'd advise you go for a course that you have core strength in and a school with good reputation in that field. Schools here in the UK have specific areas of strength. Since the course is related to oil and gas you should be fine. During my time, PTDF sent us a mail with specific school and course we should applied for but I ignored and went with the course and school I so desired, they gladly received it during the induction because there were so many potential scholars that came to the induction without admission letters/CAS statements for one reason or the other. That saved them the stress in following up with schools for offer letters/CAS statements. I hope this helps. 2 Likes |

GlobalCareers: Is it possible for someone to change university immediately after arriving the UK? I'm sorry you cannot. The reason being that your CAS is attached to your visa, i.e The school that offered you CAS is responsible for your stay in the UK. |

DMainMan: @greatdave, catchdwind4rmkd, kenevics, ucheewa. Congratulations as a potential PTDF scholar. PTDF now gives it's scholars accommodation money in cash. So you have the liberty to decide if you want to settle for school or off campus accommodation which is relatively cheaper. Though I would advise you stay in school accommodation for like 2 to 3 months while you take time to look for a better accommodation outside school and also allow you to settle down quickly as you arrive the UK. You may want to go ahead and book for the school accommodation (Ensuite, of course self-catered) which you can decide to leave whenever you choose to. Best of luck |

I think you'll be better of with a conservative investment instrument like T-Bills where you'll know your supposedly 'dividend' when you put in your money. I'm afraid, the stock market doesn't work that way. It takes determination, discipline, continuous learning, brave heart and patience to master the art of investing in stock market. 7 Likes |
