ugo4u: The 1999 Constitution was crafted by solely by civilians Town hall meetings, consensus and all that. This thread would further explain this The 1999 Constitution is not exactly new, it's a replica of the 1979 Constitution with very slight adjustments. https://twitter.com/yinkanubi/status/1392393437207572483?s=19 4 Likes |

This is in retaliation for the invasion of the group's stronghold as well as Shekau's death. More blood bath guys 6 Likes |

Boko Haram Strongman, Shekau, Dead As ISWAP Fighters Capture Sambisa Forest Shekau had surrendered and engaged in an hours-long meeting with the ISWAP fighters, where he was asked to voluntarily relinquish power. He refused and instead opted to blow himself up. Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau is dead, HumAngle has been able to gather from multiple sources. This incident took place on Wednesday evening following the invasion of the terror group’s stronghold in the Sambisa forest area by a column of Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters. ISWAP, which had broken away from the Shekau-led Boko Haram faction in 2016 after pledging allegiance to the Islamic State (ISIS), raided the group’s hideout using multiple gun trucks. Shekau’s enclave was tracked down by ISWAP using its forces based in the Timbuktu Triangle. His fighters were killed in the process, followed by a long gunfire exchange between the invading group and Shekau’s bodyguards. HumAngle gathered that after his bodyguards were subdued, Shekau surrendered and engaged in an hours-long meeting with the ISWAP fighters. During the parley, he was asked to voluntarily relinquish power and order his fighters in other areas to declare Nai'a (allegiance) to ISWAP’s authority. They had expected Shekau to issue a statement. Sources within the insurgency, however, said that Shekau who secretly had a suicide vest on eventually blew himself up alongside everyone present during the negotiations. The identities of the people within ISWAP’s leadership who lost their lives to the explosion remain unclear at this time. https://humangle.ng/boko-haram-strongman-shekau-dead-as-iswap-fighters-capture-sambisa-forest/ |

JAS identity is/was? built around Shekau, if they were finished before, there are very dead now. The remnants of the sect will join ISWAP or seek green pastures elsewhere, there's no way Al Musab will let any sub-set have any kind of control. Bakura faction in Niger and Chad is next in line on the list of annihilation, when Nurman Nur was beheaded most of his fighters and commanders joined ISWAP With Ba Idrissa out of the way, they is really nothing holding his ambitions anymore, there is no one else to challenge him for leadership anymore, Nur is dead, Abu kaka is dead, Ba Idrissa is dead, now Shekau? it leaves only him. His hubris might lead to his downfall, his rise to power may be short-lived Borno Afterall, is a large expanse of territory, with limited resources his forces will be spread thin, the arrival and deployment of A-29 would prove a game-changer, pilots wouldn't bother about making several passes to hit their target, a CT-COIN Christmas. They will only be interesting times ahead of us. 2 Likes |

Whyem15: The 6 months they spend in Jaji is basic, once you are being deployed to any unit, you have to attend and finish courses specific to your unit to get promoted. The courses run from a duration of 3 - 6 months the higher you go the more sophisticated the courses become, this continues until you retire. I believe the problem with the NA is lack of trust between Officers and NCOs I've been with people that have served in Borno state and come back, you wouldn't believe how much they distrust rednecks, they just think that they are cannon fodder and dispensable, that really doesn't help morale at all. 2 Likes |

lebuhsi: For a group with uncertain dynamics, Abu Musab sure has longevity. Leadership has gone from himself to >> Ba Idrissa >> Abba Kaka >> Ba Lawan >> Abou Dawud >> Back to himself. He has escaped several assassination attempts( in a bid to usurp power, Ba Kaka, arrested then executed Abu Musab's brother Ba Idrissa, the former then fled to one of the Tumbuns with loyal fighters). Several leaders of the group have been executed as a result of this major shakeup. |

So Abu Musab is back in charge as Wali of ISWAP "More about the #ISWAP reshuffle, In Kanuri-language audio (symptomatic of the persisting Borno-centric nature of ISWAP), it is the new wali Abu Musab al Barnawi himself speaking (authenticated by contacts & with a voice resembling that of other authenticated audios). He discusses why the former wali (presumably Ba Lawan, but he is not named) was removed. 1. He was not sharing the bounty (ghanima) fairly (a major point of contention in #BokoHaram through and through). 2. "He was not going to fight himself and was just enjoying himself" 3. He was punishing small boys who misbehaved while sparing the grandees (serious accusations in a fundamentally "populist" movement with an egalitarian drive). There is a structure here, from JASDJ to ISWAP: running a ghanima economy is difficult; matters of fairness keep cropping up. Abu Musab insists that he has been designated by the Amir al Muminin (the IS Caliph). He calls all bandits and offenders to repent and insists that he is ready to give the flagship to his predecessor if the latter repents from his sins" -Vincent Foucher |

It's really funny because just this morning, I was talking to someone about how foreign interest(The US and France) choose political stability over democracy, especially in Francophone countries, and how democratisation Should be a long term process as opposed to a short term one especially in countries with histories of autocracy. Deby's son, Zakaria certain doesn't have the support his father had, and Militias and Jihadis would be certain to exploit this vacuum, we have a Libya situation on our hands guys. Expect Zakaria in Abuja in the coming weeks and months. Defence agencies should certainly be on the toes at the moment. The current Director-General of the NIA was stationed in Chad before he was recalled to head the agency, so he has background knowledge and experience. Tumultous times ahead. 1 Like |
