I had an experience which was a reversed version of yours. My bus was stopped on the hi way just after oduduwa university on our way to ekiti. I was sitted next to the door in the front. As a mechanical engineer our job is mainly during the design and maybe construction

Unless a refinery runs into design problems a refinery can function without an engineer really but might just keep a few maintenance engineers n maybe production engineers

Technicians and technologists are enough back to the topic

Obj who was the chief manager of the refinery for 8 years is telling you what he saw( a management problem) and you are saying he is not an engineer... What concerns engineering and viability of a business?


No refinery in Nigeria can break even... We don't really have functional petrochemical sector to take advantage of it and make it profitable

So about 20% of crude would be wasted because you can't process them into anything via petrochemical processes...on a business with very very very slim profit margins you are losing 20% from start

And you want to sale petrol below the standard $1.2 per litre price

Nigeria would need to sale petrol for $1.8 dollars for any refinery to break even or sale them crude at a discount
