Pop singer, Tekno, has again deleted all pictures and videos on his Instagram feed.

The reason for the 26-year-old taking off of all his pictures and videos from the media-sharing app is not known.

The singer had, however, in 2016 deleted all pictures on Instagram following comments from his Tanzanian fans that he would die soon after posing with famous Tanzanian actress and model, Lulu Michael, who was accused of being cursed.

Tekno recently produced the song ‘We Won’t Be Late,’ by American rapper, Swae Lee, and Canadian, Drake.

The singer had in August released the controversial video of his single ‘Agege’ featuring rapper, Zlatan Ibile, with semi-nude women dancing in a transparent truck on the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge in Lagos.

Videos of the incident showing four oiled girls in lingerie dancing around a pole with Tekno throwing foreign currency at them and smacking their butts went viral on social media.

Tekno was subsequently grilled for the incident at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) Panti, Yaba.

Celebrity publisher, Dele Momodu, has said that he would always be grateful to the late winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, Moshood Abiola.

Mr Momodu, publisher of Ovation Magazine, said this on Tuesday in reaction to a tweet.

“I will always thank CHIEF MOSHOOD KASHIMAWO OLAWALE ABIOLA for teaching me how to fish in international waters instead of swimming in the purified local waters,” he said.

Abiola won the 1993 presidential election which was annulled by former military dictator, Ibrahim Babangida.

In May 1988, Momodu got his first job as staff writer with African Concord magazine, owned by late Abiola.

A year later, Momodu was transferred to Weekend Concord as a pioneer staff.

He rose to the position of literary editor May 1989 and within six months became news editor of the Weekend Concord.

In 1993, Momodu resigned to join the Moshood Abiola Presidential Campaign Organisation.

Momodu was arrested and detained at Alagbon Close in Lagos, after the annulment of the election.

He managed to escape by masquerading as a farmer through the Seme border into Cotonou, Benin Republic, from where he fled to Togo, Ghana and eventually to the United Kingdom.

“The appeal filed by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar at the Supreme Court is an exercise in futility, as it will only re-emphasize the judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) which ruled that the petition was futile and had no substance.”
 
The Buhari Media Organization (BMO) said Atiku and PDP either did not read or they did not understand the judgement of the Tribunal.
 
In a statement signed by its Chairman Niyi Akinsiju and Secretary Cassidy Madueke, the group stated that the judgement of the tribunal was quite clear and unequivocal about Atiku’s empty petition.
 
“If they had thoroughly digested the judgement they would not have wasted their resources to file an appeal.
 
“It was one of the very few times that five Justices would sit to deliver a judgment and be unanimous in their decision. This was so because there could not have been any other decision contrary to what they held: Atiku’s case was a no-brainer, and lacked any substance.
 
“On facts and evidence, they failed, on technicalities and irregularities they failed as well. The Justices may not have said so, out of respect for the institution of the courts and our democracy, but certainly they must have known that the petition was a waste of time. Any reasonable person would know that.
 
“The petition was bound to fail - in whatever direction it took. And it will fail again”.
 
BMO argued that Atiku’s appeal was to satisfy the pressure of marabouts who had deceived him into believing that he stood a chance at the polls and in the courts.
 
“What the Supreme Court will do is put a final nail in the coffin where PDP and Atiku’s petition lies. We strongly believe the Supreme Court would do nothing less than striking out the appeal of the PDP”.

The Kaduna State Government has began the full implementation of the N30,000 new national minimum wage, checks by Igbere TV has shown.

Igbere TV reliably gathered that the new payments began late Thursday, September 26, in some government ministries and agencies.

With the latest development, Kaduna State is officially the first state in the federation to fully implement the new minimum wage regime.

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari had recently signed the new minimum wage bill into law, after it was jointly passed by both chambers of the National Assembly.

A quick check by Igbere TV on Thursday night showed many Kaduna workers taking to social media to heap praises on the state governor, Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai, over the development.

UNGA74: ‘We've Recovered Millions Of Dollars Stolen From Nigeria’ - Buhari To UN

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday in New York, told world leaders that his administration had recovered millions of dollars stolen from Nigeria.

President Buhari disclosed this on the sidelines of ongoing 74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA74) in the United States.

According to a statement released by the President's Spokesman, Femi Adesina on his Facebook page, Buhari spoke on “Promotion of International Cooperation to Combat Illicit Financial Flows”, an event organized by AUDA-NEPAD in conjunction with the EFCC.

“President Buhari presented a keynote address, which was supported by President Edgar Lungu of Zambia, and President of Ethiopia, Sahlework Zewede. President of UNGA 74, Professor Tijjani Muhammad-Bande, was also there, as well as key figures from round the world”, he said.

In his keynote address, Buhari lamented the evil that corruption was doing to Africa. Quoting from the 2014 Global Financial Integrity Report, the president noted that Nigeria alone lost minimum of $157.5 billion between 2003-2012, adding that such massive loss of assets resulted in dearth of resources “to fund public services or to alleviate poverty,” in the country.

According to him, “This is why, as Africans, we have no choice but to break the back of corruption...That is why our government has made it a war we intend to win. We will give all it takes to ensure there is no hiding place for purveyors of corrupt practices who are truly enemies of the people.”

Stressing the need to strengthen good practices on asset recovery and return, President Buhari said that, “In the last five years, our government has made significant progress to curb corruption,” adding: “We have recovered millions of dollars stolen from our country.”

On his part, Acting Chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, said, “There should be understanding, there should be collaboration, there should be repatriation; send it [Africa’s stolen wealth] back to the victim countries.”

Senator Tayo Alasoadura, on Wednesday, formally resumed duty as the new Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Igbere TV reports.

This comes barely 24 hours after President Muhammadu Buhari approved a minor cabinet reshuffling less than 30days after its inauguration.

Sen. Alasoadura, who was redeployed from the Ministry of Labour and Productivity, took over from Mr. Festus Keyamo.

Mr Keyamo, on the other hand, was redeployed to the Ministry of Labour and Productivity as Minister of State.

Alasoadura was received by Godswill Akpabio, Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, along with the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Didi Walson-Jack.

Police in Lagos on Wednesday arraigned a lawyer, Bayo Adedokun, for allegedly threatening to kill Senator Buruji Kashamu and Muniru Ogunleye over land disagreement.

Mr Adedokun, 30, whose address was not given, denied charges of conspiracy, attempted murder, and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.

Police prosecutor, Steven Molo, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence in August at Ogombo village in Eti-Osa area of Lagos.

Mr Molo alleged that the defendant hired 10 thugs to kill the complainants, claiming that a portion of land they were occupying belonged to his family.

He said the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace.

The prosecutor said the alleged offence contravenes the provisions of sections 56(a), 168(d), 230(1) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Magistrate O.O. Oshin admitted the defendant to bail on self-recognition and ordered him to deposit his certificate of Call to Bar to the court.

Oshin adjourned the case until November 14 for mention.

Martha, wife of the governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel, has lamented the high rate of divorce among couples in the state.


Mrs Emmanuel, who is also founder of the Family Empowerment and Youth Re-Orientation Path-Initiative, said on Tuesday during the official launch of the Amathy Peace Pheromones Foundation and Payforphan Foundation that divorce had become so commonplace requiring urgent steps to be taken.

The launch was held at the University of Uyo.

The state’s first lady tasked the initiator of the foundations, Rosalyn Essien, who is also President of the University of Uyo Women Association, to use her professional knowledge in peace and conflict management to advise and broker peace among estranged couples in the state.

“The rate of divorce among couples now is becoming worrisome and rampant and as the initiator of these projects you have a lot to do in that aspect. As a professional in peace and conflict management, you have the capacity to counsel, advise and broker peace among broken homes,” she said.

The crisis in the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF), has near its end as the new Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Sunday Dare meets with the executive board members of the NFF, Igbere TV reports.

Mr Dare made this known in a tweet via his official Twitter account on Friday, September 20th.

Igbere TV recalls that crisis started after a Supreme court sitting granted an ex parte order to Chris Giwa.

However, Amaju Pinnick, challenged the ex parte order the Supreme Court granted Chris Giwa.

Pinnick approached the court for the relief after the Supreme Court judgment which ordered him to comply with the lower court’s order that compelled him to vacate the office for Giwa.

VP Osinbajo who was then the acting President met behind closed doors with, Solomon Dalung and Amaju Pinnick at the Presidential Villa, to discuss the NFF crisis and FIFA’s threat to ban the country from international competitions.

According to Dare: “I met with the 15 Executive board members of the NFF towards charting a new direction and resolving some of the pending lingering issues.

It was a frank exchange in which I asked that everyone works with patriotic zeal to change the narrative about football administration.”

Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed, on Friday, delivered a keynote address at the launch of the ‘Social Safety Nets Africa Report’ by the World Bank, Igbere TV reports.

In her address, the Minister gave some contextual background on the importance of undertaking a continent-wide approach for social safety-nets, saying that “extreme poverty remains a pervasive phenomenon, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa”.

Ahmed mentioned that in wake to the complexity of these issues, governments in these regions have initiated several programs to “halt the spread of poverty”.

The Minister said that the Nigerian government has established several social intervention programmes such as the ERGP, the NSIP to “give life of dignity to all Nigerians especially the poor”.

According to Minister Ahmed, from the preview of the report “a lot of interventions are occurring in Africa” and some trends worth noting are;

(i) that Social registries are currently used in 23 countries and are being developed in 13 countries;

(ii) there is an emphasis on strengthening coordination among programmes and investing in shared systems to reduce the duplication of efforts and cost inefficiencies is evolving;

(iii) there is also a shift towards greater use of cash in social safety nets;

(iv) there is an increasing number of programmes put emphasis on building the productive capacity and resilience of beneficiary households;

(v) there is increased focus on promoting human capital development; and

(vi) a growth in social safety nets in urban settings. Very interesting for us as a people is that the report highlighted the fact that social safety nets are widely used as short term responses to shocks.

Authorities of the University of Lagos have clarified the invitation of the caretaker chairman of the Lagos chapter of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musliu Akinsanya, to an event on the university’s campus, Igbere TV reports.

MC Oluomo, as Akinsanya is popularly called, was invited as a special guest at a colloquium organised by the National Association of Geography Students (NAGS) on Tuesday, Igbere TV reports.

Although the man was not present, a banner of the event bearing his picture caused a stir on social media.

With critics questioning the propriety of having the man blamed for some of the bloody clashes at motor parks, UNILAG authorities have clarified that he was not eventually invited for the event.

A rejoinder signed by the principal assistant registrar, communication unit, Taiwo Oloyede, on Friday, however, said there was nothing wrong with inviting people of diverse interests to the school.

“The Management of the University of Lagos hereby notifies parents, guardians and other stakeholders of the University that it is aware of the event to which the Lagos State Caretaker Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musliu Akinsanya, was allegedly invited.

“The event was a Colloquium on Transport Efficiency: Employing Lagos Terrain Alternatives organised by the National Association of Geography Students (NAGS) an Tuesday, September 17, 2019.

Relevant stakeholders in the transport sector invited to the event were: Arc. Abiodun Dabiri, MD, Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) Engr. Ibrahim Alhassan, Chairman, Nigerian Railway Corporation, Dr. Olusegun Spencer, Director, Amalgamated Mega-City Transport: Mr. Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, MD, Lagos Waterways Authority: Dr. Adewale Sanni, Station Manager Lufthansa and Dr. Charles Asenime, LASU School of Transport, PG Coordinator,” the rejoinder read in part.

Mrs Oloyede asserted that although MC Oluomo was one of those to be invited, which informed the draft banner with his picture, the approved banner did not have him as an invited guest, neither did he attend the event

“For the record, events are organised on campus to expose students to current trends in the academia and Industries. During such events, experts and relevant stakeholders with considerable knowledge and experience on the theme of such activities are carefully selected and invited to come and share their thoughts with our students. The goal is to produce students that are locally relevant and globally competitive, ” the school defended.

The authorities, however, urged the general public to disregard “any propaganda making the rounds on social media about the propriety of inviting a particular guest or not.”

Nigerians on Twitter have reacted to the decision of BudgIT co-founder, Seun Onigbinde, to resign as technical adviser to the minister of state for budget and national planning, Igbere TV reports.

Mr Onigbinde made the announcement on Monday in an article sighted by Igbere TV on his official Twitter handle.

News of Mr Onigbinde’s appointment as technical adviser (budget and planning) under the Federal Ministry of Budget and National Planning broke on Friday.

The BudgIT boss, known to have been vocal in his criticism of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, came under intense attack on social media for accepting the appointment.

In a tweet on Saturday, Onigbinde said those who follow him know that he sometimes takes time off social media to “declutter and focus.”

He added that he expected to face criticisms but did not know it would be Friday.

Pop musician, Davido, has revealed that he has begun his last week of studio work ahead of his album’s release, Igbere TV reports.

The 26-year-old disclosed this in an Instagram post sighted by Igbere TV on Monday.

“Last week of studio let’s go,” he wrote.

A Good Time, primed to be the second studio album by Davido will come out in October.

Last Friday, Davido confirmed that his girlfriend, Chioma Rowland, is pregnant with their first baby together.

The confirmation comes a day after the singer formally got engaged to the 24-year-old chef at a restaurant in London.

The Osun State Government has directed its ministries, departments and agencies to immediately implement the report of the panel that recommended sacking of workers who secured employment with forged certificates, Igbere TV reports.

The Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress in the state, Jacob Adekomi, confirmed that 422 workers would be affected, Igbere TV reports.

He said the NLC’s intervention helped to reduce the number of those listed for the exit door from 5,000 recommended to 422.

A statement by the Head of Service, Dr Festus Oyebade, dated September 13th said the immediate past Rauf Aregbesola government engaged the services of a firm, Captain Consulting, to verify the certificates of all civil servants in the state in 2015. The statement reads;

“The panel submitted its report and it was adopted for implementation by the immediate past administration.

However, when the new administration came on board in November 2018, the leadership of Organised Labour Movement in the state appealed passionately to the state government to have a rethink on the implementation of the report.

“After much pressure from labour, the government set up a five-man panel to further examine the report and make necessary recommendations in line with extant public service rules and regulations.”

Adekomi said labour was involved in the verification from the beginning, adding that the NLC insisted that the report and recommendations be reviewed because it was convinced that the recommendations of the firm was not a true reflection of the audit.

“When the report was reviewed, only 422 civil servants, whose cases were beyond us due to the rules of the service, will be affected.

But we interceded for the affected officers to ensure that they were not prosecuted or even made to refund the money they earned during their stay in service,” he said.

Former managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Timi Alaibe, has sued the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the outcome of the Bayelsa State governorship primary.

The party had named Senator Douye Diri, who represents Bayelsa Central at the National Assembly, as its candidate for the November 16 governorship election at the primary held on September 3.

Unsatisfied with Diri’s emergence, Mr Alaibe on Friday approached the Federal High Court in Yenagoa with an application for cancellation of the result of the primary election based on cited procedural flaws.

The suit filed pursuant to Order 3(9) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules 2019, seeks answers to questions bordering on non-adherence to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Electoral Act 2010, the Peoples Democratic Party Constitution and Election Guidelines, by the state chapter of the party in the conduct of the ward congresses, inclusion of local government council officials in the delegates list and the procedure for inclusion of three ad-hoc delegates.

Citing specific sections of relevant laws and guidelines, Alaibe is asking the court to examine the entire processes that resulted in the primaries and rule in his favour in the light of alleged violations committed.

Listed as defendants in the suit with reference number FHC/YNG/CS/99/2019 are the PDP, Diri, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and Embeleakpo Alale for himself and representing the elected local government chairmen, vice-chairmen and councillors of the PDP allowed to be delegates in the primary election.

Also joined in the suit as defendant is Doubra Kumokou, for himself and on behalf of the three ad-hoc delegates allowed to be delegates at the elective State Congress.

Alaibe, a former special adviser to the president on Niger Delta affairs, wants the court to determine whether the pre-election actions and inactions of the defendants satisfied conditions specified in relevant sections of Nigeria’s Constitution, the Electoral Acts and certain sections of the PDP Constitution.

He is praying the court to declare the entire processes unconstitutional and the declaration of Senator Diri as the winner be declared invalid having failed to comply with relevant sections of the laws governing such processes.

Alaibe is also seeking an order setting aside the submission of Diri’s name to INEC by the PDP as its candidate in the governorship election coming up on November 16, 2019 in view of the several legal and procedural infractions cited.

He wants the court to order the conduct of fresh primary elections for the nomination and sponsorship of the candidate for the governorship election in Bayelsa State.

No date has yet been fixed for hearing in the case.

The release of pop musician, Wizkid’s, first single in 2019, ‘Ghetto Love,’ has overtaken the engagement of colleague, Davido, and girlfriend, Chioma, on Twitter, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV reports that the release of the song by the 29-year-old has finally ended months of wait for his fans and lovers just a day after Davido officially engaged Chioma.

‘Ghetto Love’ was produced by Killertunes and Northboi and is believed to be the first single off Wizkid’s highly anticipated album, Made In Lagos.

Wizkid also dropped the visuals for the song as it sees him detail his journey to superstardom.

The final scene of the video sees the 29-year-old step into an arena as his fans sing his name.

Davido formally proposed to Chioma Rowland at a dinner held in a London restaurant on Thursday evening.

In a clip shared on social media, the musician is seen going on his knees and hugging the celebrity chef.

The engagement comes 10 days after the couple’s family had an introduction in Lagos.

The two plan to get married next year.

Senator Dino Melaye has hailed Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, amid the controversy following the governor’s congratulatory message to President Muhammadu Buhari on his victory at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV reports that Wike broke ranks among his party faithful when he congratulated Buhari on Wednesday despite his party vowing to appeal the judgement.

In a tweet on Thursday, Melaye hailed the governor, calling him the “pride of modern day Democracy in Nigeria.”

He, however, did not state the reason why he praised the governor.

“Governor Wike (National Governor) of Rivers State. I salute you, God bless you and keep you. You are the pride of modern day Democracy in Nigeria. Nothing do you Mr Project… Carry Gooooooooo,” Melaye wrote.

Wike had also on Wednesday warned PDP against toying with Rivers.

He said he was dismayed over the committee set up by his party to investigate the emergence of Ndudi Elumelu as the minority leader of the House of Representatives.

Wike described the committee as the most corrupt in the history of PDP.

“We are warning PDP to be careful not to toy with Rivers State. The state has all it takes to withstand the PDP and fight the party to a standstill. Rivers governor is not one of those governors that anyone can cajole. He is not one of those governors that will kowtow to illicit activities,” he said.

The Lagos state command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a 46-year-old man identified as Chinedu Ifeleka, for defiling his 14-year-old daughter for 3 years.

The suspect who was paraded before journalists on Monday September 9, reportedly started abusing his daughter in 2016, Igbere TV reports.

“This incidence according to the daughter happened twice when she was 11 years old. The victim said she reported to her mother but no action was taken”, Kehinde Mary Bada, Public Relations Officer of the command said.

The suspect's daughter, Chinwedu in her statement after his arrest said he abused her again on August 9 while her mother was away at her paternal grandmother’s place.

“The daughter said her father woke her up at about 2:25 a.m to start touching her inappropriately after which he had carnal knowledge of her,” the corps said.

Confirming the incident, the victim’s mother Mrs. Florence Ifeleka said she was scared to report the first two incidences because her husband threatened to deal with her ruthlessly if she did.

Chinedu who confessed to abusing his daughter, said his daughter's habit of coming home late whenever she leaves the house made him curious over her virginity. Blaming his actions on the devil, the arrested father said he was tempted to start abusing his daughter after a continous check of her panties.

The Commandant, Mr. Cyprian E Otoibhi told newsmen that “the suspect will face the full wrath of the law and will be handed over to the appropriate agency for further investigation and prosecution.”

Former Director-General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Joe Abah, has said that he would rather go naked on national television than do a favour for one who cannot ask politely.

Dr Abah said this in a tweet on Monday in response to a request by a follower on Twitter to help him get a book by political commentator, Japheth Omojuwa.

“A favor from @DrJoeAbah. I need a copy of @Omojuwa’s book #DigitalWealthBook,” the follower, @AdebowaleIG, requested.

Chairman of the South-East Governors Forum, David Umahi, has said that the region is being terrorised by foreign herdsmen who do not speak Hausa or English.

Umahi said this after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Thursday, Igbere TV reports.

The Ebonyi State Governor said he formally presented a request to the President from Igbo stakeholders for joint security operations to address the herdsmen menace in the region.

Umahi said: “We also told Mr President about the foreign herdsmen that come to our land with AK47. It has heightened tension in the region. They kill and maim our people; rape our women and people are very much afraid of going to farms and most of these people are in the thick bushes in the South-East.

“So, we requested joint operation with security forces to flush these people out. We don’t really have issues with our traditional herdsmen some of them have been living with us for quite a long time.

“But the foreign herdsmen, most of them don’t even speak Hausa neither do they speak Fulani nor English and a number of them are being caught by security agencies and it’s introducing a new dimension in the name of herdsmen.”

The governor said he also spoke with the President about Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu.

He said: “I know that in the last administration we had to rehabilitate Port Harcourt International Airport and because it went through budgetary provisions it lasted for two years. So, we are pleading for similar gesture for Enugu International Airport so that special funding could be given to the Honourable Minister of Aviation.”

Protesters have stormed Shoprite outlet at Novare Gateway, Lugbe, Abuja to express their displeasure over xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africans.

Since reports of the attacks in South Africa broke, Nigerians have stormed the premises of several businesses of South African origin such as Shoprite and MTN in Ibadan, Lagos, and a few other locations.

Protesters, however, stormed Shoprite Lugbe outlet on Wednesday, Igbere TV reports.

An MTN office in the area is also said to have come under attack.

According to reports, the protesters have resorted to burning tyres after a clampdown by security operatives.

MTN and Shoprite have condemned the xenophobic attacks in South Africa and called for peace and harmony.

The latest attacks in South Africa began last week after a taxi driver was murdered by an alleged drug dealer in Pretoria.

Speculations that the alleged killer was a Nigerian sparked protest, looting and burning of business centres owned by foreigners.

Three persons were reported to have been killed in a fire started by a mob on an abandoned building in the Jeppestown area of Johannesburg.

Angry Nigerians on Twitter in reaction to killing of their fellow countrymen in xenophobic attacks launched by South Africans have vowed to boycott MTN, Shoprite, Stanbic, DSTV and other businesses in Nigeria owned by South Africans.

Recall Igbere TV reported earlier that properties includings cars which belong to Nigerians in the country, was set on fire by South Africans. Shops belonging to Nigerians was also looted by South Africans as captured in a viral video.

President of the Nigeria Union South Africa, Adetola Olubajo, had said that recent attacks began on Sunday morning in Jeppestown area of Johannesburg.

Mr Olubajo said in a statement on Monday that the mob “looted several shops that were around the vicinity suspected to be owned by foreign nationals.”

Reacting to the development, Nigerians have urged each other to take action against South Africans.
