In the 3 minutes video, Istijabah stated that he called MC Oluomo a murderer out of annoyance, noting that the allegation was a mere rumour and hearsay. Former governor of Lagos State and the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) , Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was quoted to have said that the highest position attained by any Lagosian in national leadership is the position of Chief Judge of the Federation (CJN). Tinubu made the claim when he paid a visit to the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, at his palace on Sunday. He told the Oba that he decided to contest the 2023 presidency in order to break that jinx. “There is no Lagos indigene that has had the opportunity to become President of Nigeria, despite the contribution of the State to the national stability and progress. The highest position attained by any Lagosian in national leadership is the position of Chief Judge of the Federation. “I took up the fight to break this jinx. The battle to secure the APC ticket was hard. When I was almost fed up, I resorted to prayers. I also poured out my mind when I felt there was a gang up against my person. Thank God that I have brought home the presidential ticket. “The task ahead is to galvanise our people to get their voter cards and vote to enable us realise this ambition. Getting our people to vote is the most important task before all of us” Highest position attained by any Lagosian in national leadership is the position of CJN? While it is true that no Lagosian has had the opportunity to become Nigeria’s President, it is completely false that the highest position attained by any Lagosian in national leadership is the position of Chief Judge of the Federation. It is possible that Tinubu was misquoted that highest position attained by any Lagosian in national leadership is the position of CJN. If not, he blatantly lied about his claim. The Nigerian presidential line of succession sets the ranking of Nigerian government officials who may become or act as President of Nigeria if the incumbent president becomes incapacitated, dies, resigns, or is removed from office (by impeachment). The ranking is as follows: Vice President Senate President Speaker of the House of Representatives Chief Justice of the Federation (CJF) Deputy Senate President Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives The above, except the CJF, are all elected officers of Government. The current Speaker of the House of Reps, Femi Gbajabiamila ,who was elected into that position on 12 June 2019, is from Lagos State. As it stands today, Gbajabiamila is above CJN Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad and is third in line for succession to the Nigerian Presidency, after the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Senate President, Ahmed Lawan. https://newsday.com.ng/fact-check-tinubu-lied-about-his-reason-for-contesting-the-2023-presidency/ |
Chairman of the Lagos State Parks Management Committee, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly called MC Oluomo has again proved that he is in-charge when it comes to the control of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oshodi. His candidates on Friday won both the House of Representatives and House of Assembly seats for Oshodi constituency 1. Prior to the primaries on Friday, there had been series of internal crisis between Oluomo’s camp and some party leaders in Oshodi. MC Oluomo had been engaged in a power tussle with the leaders of the party over the control of the party in the local government. In the House of Reps seat, MC Oluomo’s preferred candidate, Bashiru Dawodu won the primary, beating three others candidates. Dawodu, the incumbent member representing the constituency in House of Reps, scored 18 votes out of the 25 delegates’ votes In the House of Assembly primary, Stephen Olukayode Ogundipe clinched the APC ticket. Ogundipe popularly known as Omojuomolo defeated the incumbent member representing Oshodi Constituency I, Hakeem Olushola Sokunle to win the APC ticket. Sokunle was seeking a third return to the Lagos State House of Assembly. He first took a shot at the state assembly in 2015 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In 2019, he was re-elected for another term after crossing over to the APC. The primary election was held at the Cooperative hall of the local government on Oyetayo Street. Oshodi Constituency 1 has 25 ad-hoc delegates drawn from five wards. Dawodu, a medical doctor, rode on the back of MC Oluomo to win in 2019 after series of attempts in the past. Both, however, fell apart few months after Dawodu was elected due to irreconcilable differences . MC Oluomo was said to be angry with Dawodu for not honouring agreements he (Dawodu) had with him prior to his victory in 2019. In the run-up to the primary, Oluomo was said to have put his weight behind a former Chairman of Oshodi Local Government, Afeez Ipesa Balogun. But after series of reconciliations, MC Oluomo decided to back Dawodu. He was said to have collected N100 million to support Dawodu’s re-election https://newsday.com.ng/mc-oluomos-candidates-win-reps-hoa-seats-in-oshodi/

An executive member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Hon Isreal Akiode has rejected a 5kg bag of rice New Year gift from the Chairman of Oshodi/Isolo local government, Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede (Kendoo). Akiode represents the Special Physically Challenged in the Lagos APC exco. It was gathered that Akiode’s decision to reject the rice follows the aftermath of the grievances that trailed the result of the party congress in the local government. It was learnt that the Chairman had already excluded Akiode’s name from the list of party stakeholders to be given Christmas and New Year gifts. However, one of the Chairman’s boys, who was distributing the packages to other members of the public met Akiode with some of his friends at a Baba Ijebu bet shop in Mafoluku and decided to give him a bag of rice. Akiode politely rejected the gift. A member of kitchen cabinet of the Chairman , who prefers to remain anonymous because he was not authorized to speak on the matter, said Akiode has the right to either accept or reject the gift. He told NewsDay that there were several people on ground itching to receive gift from the Chairman with joy and gratitude. Oloyede and Akiode had been locked in a political tussle over the control of the party in the local government. Akiode, who is from Oshodi, was believed to have worked against the choice of Oloyede for the LGA chairmanship. While Oloyede, who has the support of the Chairman of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Lagos, Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya (MC Oluomo) annointed Saheed Animashaun to be the Chairman of the party in the local government, Akiode with the support of a former exco member, Pastor Wale Ariyibi supported Wale Adelana. After so much bickering and politicking, the party’s leadership at the state level was said to have settled for Adelana as the new Chairman of the party in Oshodi. The decision did not go down well with MC Oluomo and Oloyede. Yusuf Dodo, President Muhammadu Buhari’s Aide-de-camp (ADC), has contracted the coronavirus, as have four other Aso Rock aides, officials say, raising fears of another outbreak sweeping through the ranks of the nation’s top officials. Others aides said to have contracted the virus include Buhari’s senior special assistant on media and publicity, Garba Shehu; his chief security officer (CSO), Aliyu Musa; permanent secretary in the State House, Tijani Umar and one other aide. Minister for Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed also tested positive for the virus, people close to the administration told NewsDay Nigeria on Saturday. The diagnoses came as Nigeria recorded more than 1,356 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday. The country also recorded two more deaths bringing the country’s death toll to 2,993. Shehu, who abided by President Buhari’s efforts to play down the coronavirus, is only the latest in a string of people in the president’s circle to contract the virus in the past two weeks. Shehu in a statement on Saturday confirmed that he was “afflicted by the mild variant of the COVID-19,” but said he has “no confirmation” of other aides who have contracted the virus. He, however, said he was already fit but in isolation. His message reads in part; “I have no confirmation of the cases you mentioned, but yes I have been afflicted by the mild variant of the COVID-19. I felt okay from the beginning, maybe because one had received all three jabs, and right now, I feel 100 per cent. I just finished my hour-long running exercise. “But the strange thing about this ailment is that it is the scientists, not you, that will say you are okay. Right now, I’m taking my prescriptions and isolating, and would go back for a test to ascertain if the virus is still here or it has left me. Thanks for your goodwill.” http://newsday.com.ng/buharis-aide-de-camp-adc-four-other-aso-rock-aides-test-positive-for-coronavirus/ |

Speaking on the reasons for their actions, one of the youths who simply gave his name as Samuel, said they are trying to forestall a similar occurrence of suspected herdsmen attacks in some towns in the Yorubaland. “We don’t have problem with them but we don’t want them and their cows in Ijebu Mosan.” We will continue to keep vigil to ensure that they do not return to our lands. https://newsday.com.ng/fulani-herdsmencows-chased-out-of-ijebu-video/ |
