mcTrinity: hi Ola,
you're looking at something like this... the two separate battery banks can be independently charged with inverter or solar...
please, ensure you use a quality Change over switch. I used 100A A&Bt brand ... or you look for MG brand. confirm the thickness of the current-carrying part...
Hope this helps
cheers hi, love your wiring and setup. those adhesive stickers, how did you get them? any hints? thanks |

Dishtech: For I have small package like that, 2 used 40ah LiFePo4 battery (10k each), 250watt solar panel (33k) 40A pwn charge controller ordered from China (6.5k) and a homemade inverter made by my self (7k), cable (3k) TOTAL #69,500.
Below are my setup! hi, quick question. does your pwm controller charge the batteries adequately? I guess you connected the batteries in series to match the 250w panel (which is a 24v panel). are your batteries 3s or 4s? the 250wp has Imp of about 7amps? how long does it take for your batteries to charge. thanks. |

generationz: It actually can.
I had actually gotten price estimations to set up one with a 150watts solar panel, a lifepo4 battery etc Costs less than 70k
I just want other options especially with lead or mercury battery.
Also if you have a link to the powerbank please share. I just want ro compare every thing and see which is the best for me. Thanks. that would be a good deal. things to watch out for: 1. the Dc input socket. mine burnt out when an 80w panel was connected to the port.mine was basically undersized for the possible 5amps max the panel could produce. this leads to my second question 2. has your seller/vendor connected a 150w panel to the Powerbank before? some units have current limit on their charging circuits. 3. some vendors will tell you that a max of 100w only can be loaded on the Powerbank even though they sell it with a 300-500w modified sine wave inverter. practically however, in use I observed a smell of burnt wires when the power bank was loaded to only 50watts. and don't ever try to charge it with a small generator. the pack will pack up much sooner. lol when i connected the 80w panel to the Powerbank, I noticed on the digital display that the voltage was rising close to the panels Voc of 21volts.it was supposed to stop at 19v when the power bank was fully charged. (at least according to the seller). I noticed the bank overheating when a load was connected to the power bank while the panel was charging the unit. the power bank I am using is the popular black unit (CT/ZINOX). I think now I would prefer a unit built with thicker cables and connectors, these Naija built blue packs with evident BMS may be better. I hope your offer is better. cheers |

Am bit confused as I don't know why I received 2 contradicting dates, please house and senior colleagues what or how do I resolve this issue? and my school The BSBI resumes the winter session on the 7th of October with the scarcity of dates, the answer is pretty simple. print out both emails, take them with you. prepare for your earlier date 17/9/2019. the first date given to you (17/10/2019) is after your resumption date. so guess they made a mistake and sent you a modified more reasonable date. above all, prepare and pray, God will see you through to your visum and arrival in DE. |

ojeysky: Bros so I have done the setup; could not get a bus bar for now so I used the DC breaker as the common connection point for both the SPD and PV. However I have noticed that it seem the battery consumption has increased, does the SPD and DC breakers consume power on their own?
Update nevermind the source of drain identified - it's self inflicted.
Secondly, I have moved my stuff to standalone, I was happy to see over 1kw yday at relatively high sunlight. However when it rained and after sunlight came back I lost generation, noting was coming in, I noticed water was still on the panels could that be the reason why I was not generating anything? hmm, the PV rack you have there looks curved and water seems to gather at the low point there. your controller, is it a pwm? or MPPT? I would advise remodelling of your PV rack to allow runoff of rain water rather than have it gather on your panels. that looks like a probable cause of no production. cheers |

Tilenzua: Can anyone give me an idea of types available and likely cost? What and what will be needed? Thanks hi, basically you actually need to know the overall head of water your pump is required to pull and pump water to. this means depth of borehole, lateral gradient, and height of overhead tank. popular brands are the Lorentz, and grundfos, and the other Indian and Chinese brands the Lorentz comes with its own controller (with inbuilt MPPT), the grundfos comes with 2 variants, the CU101 (ordinary on/off switch) & the CU200 that has added features for float switch and generator connections. these controllers usually come as one package, but most retailers sell them separately, so be careful. when ordering the generic brands, it is best to ask for the data sheets to determine whether it suits your water supply requirements. some people self the controller from 650k and sell the CU200 for 250k. try Google and jiji, before venturing to go to Alaba. I will search for the contact of Auxwell, I think, the last reps of grundfos I know. some guy in Alaba offered me a pump with 100m head for 130k. it all depends. if you have the funds, go for grundfos or lorentz, (which is more expensive) I will assume the borehole or water source is ready.if a borehole with standard diameter (6" , you will need the pump, 4core flex (some use 2.5mm, but 4mm is better), strain relief PVC cable, tiger pipes (1,1/4"- 1,1/5" based on outlet of pump) or ordinary PVC pipe of same size. if using tiger pipes, they have screw threads, ordinary pipes need to be glued with connectors using PVC gum. then you will need cable ties to hold the electrical cable and strain relief cable to the pipe of your choice. you will need some kind of rack or pole mount to place your panels, depending on location/size of storage tanks. most steel tanks of large capacity have the solar panels mounted on racks welded atop the tank. if you have space, place panels on pole mounted rack away from trees or tall buildings. you connect wires from panels to controller, and connect wires from pump to controller. the controller is usually placed in a waterproof enclosure under the panel rack, but you could place in anywhere else. your panels are usually wired in series to achieve minimum startup voltage. some Chinese brands I have seen use a 2s2p config of 300w panels, and it pumps water okay. for pumps like grundfos just check Voc of panel you want and calculate how many you need in series to achieve operating voltage of the pump. same goes for Lorentz. cheers |

Tilenzua: Good day everyone. I heard there is solar pump system that uses solar panel alone without battery, anyone here with useful information about it? Thank you. that's always the basic & best idea. the grundfos sqflex 2.5 does that pretty well. it takes ac/DC voltages up to 300v ac/DC. works with any kind of panels as long as minimum volt of 120v is achieved. idea is to pump water while the sun shines and store in tanks, steel or plastic for use later or immediately. its always cheaper to store water than to add batteries to enable pumping at odd hours of the day. cheers |

Deustchemann: DEUSTCHEMANN GOES TO WALTER CARRINGTON (PART III) So, The big day finally arrived. The two previous visits to the consulate were for Certification purposes. I landed in Lagos on Monday evening, stayed with my elder brother. Fast forward to this morning, I woke up by 2:45, took my bathe and dressed up. By 5:00am, we set out from ogba. I got to the consulate by 6:05, met 8 people in front of me. I joined the queue and waited for the instructions as usual. At 6:21 Paulinus arrived, and arranged seats as usual. Then a security officer called those for short stay, and stamped their appointment mail. Then he stamped for students and other long stays too. By 7, Short stay applicants were ushered to Paulinus and he checked them in. By 7:15, student visa applicants were called in and we filed up. Appointment mail and international passport checked. I happened to be number 5 on the student queue. Paulinus admonished us as usual: "What I need is your attention." He called the first 3 folks and began to give them instructions. The first guy appeared slow, and he got bounced to the last spot on the queue. The second lady too, seems she had issues with motivation letter, Paulinus asked her to move to the back, probably to make photocopies. So just 1 guy in that set was passed in. When it got to my turn, myself and the guy that followed me, we were following Paulinus bumper to bumper. Local man was very pleased with us. In his words "I'm enjoying these people"..Lol.. he had to pend the first guy in our set because he wasn't as fast as we were.
Documents arranged, and well clipped by Paulinus, I was ushered in for security check by 8:15. Security checks conducted, I moved into the visa section, and probably became the first to be interviewed for Student visa because I still found the guy in the first set seated at the security post.
I entered cubicle 4 by 8:30. VO was a young man on lowcut.
VO: *with a smile* Hello! Me: Hi. Good morning VO: Bachelors, Masters or PhD? Me: Masters VO: What category did you book? Me: Category A VO: Which of the qualifications do you have? Me: I have a Bachelor degree, with a second class upper grade. VO: Okay. What course was that? Me: Biochemistry. VO: What course are you now going for? Me: Environmental Toxicology VO: Is there a relationship between the two? Me: Yes. *Hands over my documents to him VO: What school are you going to? Me: University of Duisburg-essen *Checks my SL* VO: Who is Mr. Justwise? , And how's he related to you? Me: He's my sponsor. He's my Dad's friend. VO: Does your dad live in Germany? Me: No, he doesn't. VO: *shows me something on my SL*, do you know what this means? Me: Yes, Study, 3 months VO: You'll get a mail in a few days. Your sponsor stated that he can only cover you for 3 months after entry. What will happen to the remaining 1yr 9 months? He might have to get another one that will state 2 years. Me: Okay. VO: Do you speak German? Me: No. VO: What's the medium of instruction for your course? Me: English. VO: Give me 3 Passport photographs and your visa fee *Hands then over* *Takes biometrics: 4 fingers of the right hand, 4 fingers of the left hand, then thumb of both hands.* *Prints data information statement, gives me my copy* *Prints fee receipt, gives me my copy* *Prints 2 copies of my details and asks me to cross-check and sign if correct*
Interview proper VO: Pick up the microphone please. Which school are you going to study? Me: University of Duisburg-essen VO: What course? Me: Environmental Toxicology VO: What's the language of instruction? Me: English. VO: Which campus are you headed? Me: Essen campus VO: Why do you want to study this course? Me: 1. It's in line with my career goal of becoming a Toxicologist 2. I'm passionate about Environmental sustainability VO: I want more details. You have a motivation letter, right? *In my mind, I even wanted to be brief so we won't waste time, seems this one wants to hear story. Naso I change mode sharply* Me: My bachelors thesis was on neurotoxicology, where I studied the toxic effects of some harmful substances on the brain. The results I got increased my interest to how the harmful substances in the environment affects the organisms that live in it: plants and animals, You and I *smiles*. *VO smiles back*. So I want to gather up more knowledge so I can use them to work in establishments whose activities have effects on the environment. VO: Okay. That's nice. So, why do you want to study in Germany? Me: 1. Free tuition extended to international students 2. Excellent practical and theoretical training 3. Opportunity to learn a foreign language 4. Opportunity to experience cultural diversification 5. Worldwide acceptance and recognition of the German Certificate VO: That's good. Why don't you want to study in English speaking countries? Me: 1. Very high tuition fee 2. High cost of living 3. Holistic admission process VO: Okay. Why not study this in Nigeria? Me: 1. Irregular academic calendar, which will not guarantee completion of the program on time 2. Limited exposure to sufficient practical training VO: okay. What was your bachelor thesis title? Me: Protective effect of Hibiscus sabdariffa (had to spell sabdariffa for him) extract on altered antioxidant and neurotransmitter systems induced by acute Tramadol administration VO: Hmm..nice. what's this tramadol? I've heard about it but I've not seen it before Me: It's an analgesic opioid which is therapeutically used to treat fever, but is often abused due to its stimulating effect. VO: Tell me facts about Germany. What comes to your mind when you hear Germany? Me: Geographically, Germany is located in central western Europe, with a population of about 83 Million people. Germany has 16 states and is bordered by 9 countries. Germany holds the largest economy in the Europe and 4th largest by GDP in the world. Germany is the 3rd largest exporter of goods: majorly automobiles, heavy machinery, chemicals and food. The president of Germany is Dr. Frank Walter Steinmeier of the Social Democratic party *Interrupts me while laughing VO: You know him? Me: No *smiles* VO: Does he know you? The way you pronounced his name sounds like he's your guy *General laughter* Me: The chancellor's name is Dr. Angela Merkel of the Christian Democratic Union. Concerning Environmental matters, Germany is a world leader in Environmental, climate and energy policies. Germany is presently decommissioning all nuclear power plants and replacing with renewable energy by 2022. Germany charges an ecotax of 65 cents per liter of fossil fuel used. *VO nods and interrupts* VO: Okay, Okay. That's good. The city you're heading, what do you know about it? Me: Duisburg and Essen are part of the Rhine-Ruhr developed areas, and used to be sites of coal mining and steel production years back. VO: Okay. What state is your school located? Me: North-rhine Westphalia VO: Where is it located in Germany? Me: South Western part of Germany VO: No. If I'm right it should be Northwest, since you have north-rhine and Westphalia. Me: *Remains silent* VO: Okay. So what are your plans after completing the program? Me: I will return to Nigeria to take up a job as an environmental Toxicologist in the oil and gas industry. VO: Have you applied for a visa in this embassy before? Me: No, I haven't. VO: How about other Schengen countries? Me: No, I haven't. VO: Okay. Any questions for me? Me: None, thank you. VO: Alright. You should get a mail from the consulate in a few days about the issue on your Proof of sponsorship. That was my only observation. Every other thing is perfect. Me: okay. Thank you for your time VO: Have a nice day.
Thank you all for the encouragement, support and prayers. May our AMs come with ease. Godspeed. Receive your Visum....and may your entire departure process be smooth with grace and favor! |
