olaolu11: Thanks. How do i now check the quality of a battery before buying it. 2 methods exist: use a battery analyser or a battery tester which applies a heavy load across battery terminals for like 10secs. some will advise the high current draw be maintained a little longer than 10secs. I doubt however that your battery supplier will want that, as most never charge their batteries in storage before they are sold. some companies will stamp a manufacture date into the battery case itself, you should look for that, then ask for a load test be done. that should be better. You could decide also to search for the main dealer of a battery, who has a return policy and a warranty longer than 24hrs. |

ceaser: @ bolded. I guess your Zinox Powerbank has some form of voltmeter added to it which was not originally manufactured in it. That voltmeter is connected to the terminals that receive the direct volt input on the CC-CV board and that is the reason for the absurdly high voltage. Meanwhile, the BMS does its good job of maintaining the cells voltage within acceptable limits.
Or so I suppose. yep, I thought so too, not until the charger input socket melted and the wires became hot. when I opened it up, the charging board was burnt. one diode there was roasted. Lol when I saw the kind on soldering done inside,I just held my piece. we are in Nigeria! a friend who had the same zinox bank, used his for 3yrs before the backup times reduced. different strokes for different folks I guess |

generationz: Are you saying that you use an 80 watt solar panel to charge your zinox power bank? Please I really need to know if that's what you do and how you go about doing it is very important quite tricky. the charger that comes with the zinox has a charging voltage of 19v with 3.5amps. your solar panel will produce something around that amount IN CLEAR BRIGHT SUNSHINE. on cloudy days the 80w panel will be insufficient. , I still suggest the 150w panel. also, when connected directly, I noticed the battery voltage kept increasing to the the Voc limit on the panel. this is bad for lithium batteries. which is why the PWM controller whose link I posted will come in handy. it will limit the charging voltage to the value acceptable by your zinox Powerbank. please be careful. |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by lexi28(m): 8:50pm On Aug 21, 2019 |
@ ojesky
first confirm wattage of the DC fan. the gotv adapter will power 12v * 1a = 12w device. if the wattage of the device is higher, the fan may not run as fast or the adapter may burn.
cut off the plug on the adaoter, connect the red wire to +ve leg on the DC fan, do likewise for the black to -ve leg. connect the adapter to the ac mains. fan should work. you may have to extend wires quite a bit from adapter to fan's supply leads.
hope the is helps |

generationz: Please I have a few questions too
1. Do you think the zinox pwerbank is really 105000mah . it charges my laptop for 12 hours after a single charge.
2. 105000 mah translates to 105ah right?
3. That means its twices bigger than a 40ah lifepo4 battery, right?
4. Would a 66000mah zinox Powerbank be better than two 20,000 mah rommoss power banks for phones? I've heard rommoss charges phones well about 4times for a 20000 mah power bank.
Do you think the 66000 mah zinox power bank is really up to that or its just for marketing sake? interesting question. the batteries have capacities like 1900mah, 2200mah, 3000mah. they are configured in several ways. 3s12p ( 3 batteries in series, and 12 of such batteries in parallel) the zinox is 4s12p. meaning that a total of 48pcs of batteries are used. the sellers now multiply that by the capacity of each battery. I.e if 2200mah batteries are used, they write the capacity as 48 x 2200mah = 105,600mah. but actually your power bank is configured.thus: 4s = 4 series batteries determines voltage = 4.2 * 4 = 16.4v 12p = 12 strings in parallel determines Ah capacity of the power bank = 2200*12 = 26,400mah (26.4ah). so your 106,500mah power bank is actually a 16.4v/26.4Ah lithium battery. hope its clear now. its just a marketing gimmick. cheers |

TochiPhotos: Today I cooked jollof rice and I'll go to the center of Saint Petersburg and ask Russians to try Nigerian jollof and tell me what they think about it. The few times I cooked jollof and shared with my Russian classmates, they all loved it. So today, 'll go out and see what the general public thinks about Nigerian jollof rice. Video will be out on my YouTube channel in a few days.
My best friend here in Russia is crazy about Nigeria food, he has tried jollof rice, egusi and okro and he can't seem to get enough of our food hahaha. His name is Roma and I want to use this opportunity to briefly tell you guys about Roma.
I think I'm blessed when it comes to friendships because all my adult life, I've been really fortunate to only meet and get close to really wonderful people. No matter how hardworking or self made you think you are, it's always important to acknowledge the people that have helped you in one way or the other to get where you are in life.
My friendship with Roma started the first day I resumed at HSE Saint Petersburg. After the first class, he came to me to know how I was handling the transition of moving to a new city and all the craziness of life at a new school. He genuinely showed interest in knowing me as a person which was really nice. It might seem insignificant to other people but it was a very nice gesture and it meant a lot to me. Been a different race especially in Russia can be very challenging, sad and quite depressing but having a friend like him made everything smooth and easy for me.
Roma and I particularly connected instantly because we had so many things in common. We are the oldest in our entire department, he just turned 23 and I am older than him. Other students in our department are mostly teenagers who just left high school so Roma and I bonded over our past failures, age, our dreams and the shared hope for a better tomorrow.
Also, Roma is one of the smartest people I've met my entire life. He was previously studying Applied Mathematics at Saint Petersburg State University before he had an issue in his final year and then moved to our University. This guy has a brilliant mind and he is so smart and knowledgeable about everything you can think of. He's literally a genius. Think of real life Sheldon Cooper level of Genius in the big bang theory. I usually feel so dumb whenever I'm around him cos this guy literary knows about everything but I like that cos I learn so much from him daily. Since the first day we met, we attend lectures together and sit in the same seat in every single class. We literally do everything together. He got married last year to his American girlfriend. He lived in America for years before returning to Russia and the girl he married, was his high school girlfriend in America.
Also, his parents are the most wonderful people I've met in Saint Petersburg. They are both medical practitioners and they usually invite me for dinner in their house and that's where I usually eat authentic Russian food hahahahaha.
Below are pics of Me and Roma and our classmate and friend Nastya. Also, Nastya is a good friend to me too. The picture I posted earlier from the culture fest, she is the one in the yellow Dashiki. I gave her the dashiki on her birthday. She also helped me a lot when I started at this Uni and she is like a little Sister to me.
I'm off to shoot videos for my channel so guys please subscribe to my YouTube channel abeg )
First picture - Me, Roma and Nastya. Second picture - Russian Easter dinner at Roma and his family. Third picture - Roma and I. Fourth picture - Dinner with Roma and his family. hi, kak dila? my bro was born in St. Petersburg, when it was still known as Leningrad. these pictures get me emotional. I'll follow your thread I trust you have learned how to eat kartoshka, kalbasa, Shea, slivichni masla...et al. I have family in Tambov, an uncle and his family. C bogom. |

ojeysky: Hello,
I want to get ceiling and standing fan with low consumption. I have found some DC fans at good price, my question is considering I will be connecting it to a AC power source, what AC/DC adapter can I use for it?
Thanks JUO advertised DC fans, those ones come with a DC adapter. its strange that someone would sell you those fans without one. if not, check the nameplate rating of the fan, the wattage & operating voltage should be printed somewhere. use those figures to get a suitable charger. cheers |

generationz: Thanks.
Is the inverter needed for the solarbpanel or powerbank?
Considering the fact that I can use the power bank to charge my phone and laptop without an inverter on a normal day when it was charged with electricity. hi, simple question. your laptop & phone have ports / sockets to which they are plugged into. they basically are DC devices. the solar panels are an alternative to the DC charger that comes with the power bank, so if you do not have PHCN, the panels will charge your power bank. knowing the Powerbank you are using, you can only use one charging source at a time. the inverter comes into use when you wish to watch TV and other gadgets that require nepa supply. if your laptop and phone is all you ever use your Powerbank for, you do not need the inverter. your connection will be: solar panels=> charge controller => Powerbank charge input. that is all. hope it helps |

generationz: Thanks a lot. Yes I use the zinox power bank. The black 105000 m a h. what about inverter? Which inverter should I use? modified sine wave inverters come cheap. 300-500w are readily available. but they have one drawback. they can't handle surge currents from inductive loads like fans and the rest. pure sine wave inverters are better. pure sine wave inverters are more expensive and hardly come in lower capacities less than 1000w. p.s you should know that there is a load limit of 100w on the zinox power bank. so I guess buying an expensive pure sine wave inverter for a 100w load limit is not cost effective. depending on your load, buy a MSW 300W portable inverter. or check this link: (kindly read the reviews, use Google chrome browser if necessary): https://m.aliexpress.com/item/32812776117.htmlhttps://m.aliexpress.com/item/32804402790.htmlbest of luck |

generationz: Hello people,
Is it possible to use a 105,000mah powerbank as a substitute for batteries in an 80 watt solar panel , charge controller and inverter. theoretically, Yes. but there will be some requirements. 1. the power bank should have inbuilt BMS. I guess that you are referring to the Zinox Powerbank? 2. you charge controller should have a feature for charging lithium or LFP batteries. not the ordinary pwm charge controller. this is because default voltages for AGM batteries are higher than those of LFP or lithium batteries. 12V AGM can take 14.5v charge, 12.6v lithium will not. this controller on aliexpress may be of help. someone on the forum here has used it, going from pictures he posted. select the model you want from the checkout. lithium versions have the DY PREFIX. https://m.aliexpress.com/item/32902994892.html3. the 80w panel will produce like 4.5a at best, on cloudy days even less. you can go for the 150w (7-8amps max) panel instead, so that on cloudy days you could at least match the power bank Dc charger. my 2 pence. |
