I once undertook to extract data from the PVGIS website, to show a client why the south face was overall the best orientation to place the panels. The data represents conservative averages over 2005-2020 for hourly PV production per 1kw. The data is for ILORIN particularly, I assume the data will vary for other locations due to unique sun path at each location. MONTH: ORIENTATION WITH HIGHEST PV OUTPUT/KW JAN : SOUTH FEB: SOUTH MAR: SOUTH APR: FLAT MAY: NORTH JUN: NORTH JUL: NORTH AUG: WEST SEP: WEST OCT: SOUTH NOV: SOUTH DEC : SOUTH Practical results may vary. ojesymsym:

jonescosmos:Quite correct about the inrush current. Will prowse uses a pre-charge resistor too before connecting the batteries to the inverter. A cheap alternative is using a 220v/100w or 200w tungsten filament bulb instead of the resistor. In most cases, the bulb will glow slightly when connected inline with one of the battery cables. A 30second wait is usually enough to eliminate such in-rush sparks. Below a 48v tungsten bulb was used. (In absence of that, I use the 100w bulb readily available, wired with a lamp holder and 2 leads. I just hold it for longer) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOrJ5AH9yjM https://diysolarforum.com/threads/has-anyone-solved-this-inrush-current-limiter-precharging-circuit-issue.82666/... https://diysolarforum.com/threads/do-most-builders-users-not-use-inverter-precharge.65222/ The above link discusses the issue when the BMS shuts down for some time, and an inrush current occurs when the BMS switches on again. In this case, the external pre-charge resistor or bulb is of no help. Hope this helps someone |
Daaaaa:Hi, can we exchange contacts? I need info about the school from you. Thanks |
NiyiOmoIyunade:Thank you. Much appreciated |
Saipro:Thank you. |
GeorgeD1:Thanks, GeorgeD1! |
ojeysky:You read well. Thanks!! |
adrusa:Thanks for the info... |
Guys, good day. I need some info. I read online that running an inverter aircon 24/7 at 25°c is more efficient and consumes less energy in the long term than running it on turbo mode for a few hours and switching to gen mode. I do not have the battery capacity to run this test 24/7, can you guys help out and run a 1hp inverter AC for 24/48hrs to compare kWh consumed @25°c vs gen/turbo modes? Anyone with substation capacity PV/battery bank should kindly assist with this small test. @NiyiOmoIyunade @ojeysky @Adrusa @olopan @GeorgeD1 @babaegun @dapsyra @oshomo12 @McTrinity @Valto @dam5reey @Saipro Muchos gracias!! |
Ogonna00:Replied your email |
Ogonna00:First of all, calculate your expenses as given on the polish embassy website include accommodation for 1 year, tuition, cost of living and return ticket. Your tuition fee will vary as per the course and university you have chosen. Its supposed to be his payslips, certicate of employment ( from the company he works with stating he is their employee), a letter of sponsorship written by him on your behalf, preferably signed by his own hand. You notarize the sponsorship letter. Bank account details are not accepted. Second option is him opening a CC in his name, and writing a sponsorship letter stating that it was opened on your behalf. Hope this helps |
Thank you for this! |
Hi, Neat installation. I see a PV isolator in.that install, did you get it locally? If yes, how much? Also, what operating voltage is it rated for? Thanks mcTrinity: |
dejidotun2000:Thanks for the pointers. |
earthrealm:Thanks. Its the inverter terminal that has melted along with the cable lugs. I can get cable lugs but its safer to change the terminal too. |
Good day guys. Please can anyone sell spares or replacement parts for this DC terminal. A friends inverter terminal is melted and kaput. Any link or contact is welcome. Thanks

ojesymsym:If its the wide flat one, it holds up pretty good. Its about 2" wide. Quite strong, doesn't cut into the hand when pulling up a heavy panel, and a big roll is less expensive than 10mm decommissioned cable. Lol. Used it to assist in trimming overhanging branches if a tree shading a selected roof. It withstood the stress okay. |
1st way: get a short length of 8mm iron rod, have an iron bender make the shape of a hook at one end and a closed loop at the other. Tie the flat rope Mr Niyi advised you use at one end, hook the other end through the mounting holes/ or eyelets at spots closest to the edge of the panels. That's where a paper I read states is supposed to be the strongest part of the frame. Its a 3man job. I bought a roll of the flat rope, you need enough slack in gusty wind conditions 2. They sell miniature clasps, like those on a safety harness, not exactly mettalic - the metallic version of a keyholder clasp. The flat rope can be tied in a knot at one end and the other end of the clasp be put in the mounting holes. This option should be your last option. 2 disadvantages of this option: fiddling with the spring release to remove the hook from.the panel may become tricky at great heights. Secondly, if roughly handled, the bottom.end of the clasp can snap off, which will a costly accident. The 8mm hook stands up to the stress of use, and sliding the panel up the surface of a slanted ladder reduces the danger and stress on those pulling it up. N.B If a pulley is used, it has to be fixed to something, before it can be effective. On a 2-3 story building, that's not too nice a prospect. Its also wise to have your electrician or carpenter go into the roof from the manhole to inspect the roof beams - IF the opportunity exists. I avoided a nasty surprise that way. The lightest member of my crew had to virtually tiptoe past that section of the roof. It was scary. ceaser: |
Valto:What is the price for the growatt? |
Valto:Monsieur Valto, Please do you have the 3kva Sorotec hybrid inverter? Price? Thanks? |
ceaser:Where they sell electrical materials for earthing. If you want something thicker, try shops selling L.V substation materials ask for copper tape.

ojeysky:Hi, any link to where it can be purchased, pics or something helpful? Thanks |
@ aorseer Glad to know you made it finally. Hoped it has sparked a greater interest in all things RE. Wish you best of all God has on offer this side of heaven. Let me also congratulate you on your graduation. Stay blessed |
ceaser:thanks. |
ceaser:hi, can you share specs of the motor you used? and maybe some pixs of how large (size) a gate it was opening? many thanks |
dataking:hi, please can you share which software you used to draw up your sketch? many thanks |
Omalily1:there is a saying I love: the humble calf will suck the teats of 2 mothers. your approach was on point and the favor you received in response is noted. one has to read up on the personal profile of key members of the German government.. first time I am reading that a question is asked about what the president was doing BEFORE he was elected. I also note that you mentioned the key course modules in the masters program that relate to your present qualification and how it applies to your career path. nice one. I wrote down all courses on offer for each of my target M.sc. its not a waste of time. thank you. Go to DE and succeed. |
Haryanfhe:hi, you will need a letter from the embassy stating that you will no longer be going to Germany, were denied a visa or cancelled your visa application. you will forward this mail to the bank you funded with. money will be reversed/refunded to the account you initially sent it from. my advice? if money is not on loan, and you still want to go to Germany, leave it there. if you withdraw it and are not disciplined, needs will arise that will prompt you to spend it. when the BA is required again, then the hustle starts again? but, its your money. feel free to do as you please. cheers |
sugarmike:hi, if funds are leaving Nigeria to anywhere outside the country in bulk. Dom account is the best way. several people.have posted reliable banks which will transfer it for you without issues. you will.DEPOSIT the funds more than once to your Dom account ( to stay within EFCC limits), and the bank will transfer once to your blocked account. this way is the cheapest as you will pay telex, off shore charges , VAT charges only once. of you transfer it I'm small chunks, you will pay telex & off shore charges per each transaction you make. STANBIC, ACCESS, DIAMONDBANK, ZENITH are reported as okay. GTB has low transfer limits (€1000/week). stay guided cheers. p.s stay away from.Form A ! learn from the pains of others. modified: someone has mentioned FIRST BANK TOO |
sassy92:no worries, we will meet up with you by winter 2020. at least I am sure you will post your "just landed " posts for all to enjoy. thanks for.all.the help you have been rendering to all. stay blessed. |
janettee:@ Janette, yes I read it way back on the thread. the guy mistakenly posted his AD mail with the link still active somehow and his AD got cancelled before he pulled down the post. cruisecontrol's advice may be helpful but I guess people are put off by the manner of presentation and the tone of his post. there are still good guys freely donating information here, posting helpful links, materials, replying private emails and other stuff. i admit too, there may be harmful people also. as one guy posted before, we can all check people's profiles before responding to private chats. if anyone wants to pm anybody else, do the needful and inform the fellow first on the forum. if the fellow accepts, good. if not, then find someone else or post your query on the forum for others to benefit also. |
fibe:congrats!! Go to DE and prosper. |
Thanks!!
