Nairaland General › Re: Abiola 1993: Did Igbos Ever Vote For Abiola? by LibertyRep: 9:24pm On Jun 06, 2022
donb06:
@ the bolded... isn't far from the truth. But with an igbo vice with Tofa I think it is fair enough.

But my surprise is the disinformation peddled that igbos hated abiola so much and he lost with a wide margin like the pic below.
I see.
It's always proper to put the record straight else agents of misinformation will feast on it and spread it faster.
Thumps up to you.
Politics › Re: You Didn’t Make Me President In 2015, Buhari Replies Tinubu by LibertyRep: 8:44pm On Jun 06, 2022
He never said he made Buhari the president alone, he said he led the battle from the front.
Nairaland General › Re: Abiola 1993: Did Igbos Ever Vote For Abiola? by LibertyRep: 8:32pm On Jun 06, 2022
donb06:
All my life, the narrative was igbos never voted for abiola. Just for me to find out today that abiola got 47% of all Igbo votes... Common like 47% is huge na. Yet no reciprocity politically from my western brothers. In 1999. Igbos gave obasanjo 85% of their votes.

This is for those that think disliking Tinubu means hatred for Yorubas

The 1993 election was a two horse race between Abiola of SDP from the South and Tofa of NRC from the North.

If Abiola, a southern candidate got 47% from the South East and Tofa from the North got 53% , that's not a show of enough southern Comradery worthy of being boastful of.

It was clear that Obasanjo of PDP wasn't the candidate of the Yoruba in 1999, Olu Falae of AD was and the South East didn't vote Falae.

Thank you for the mention, but I don't do the Igbo Vs Yoruba thing.

So Punch really published this story?

Well, the 'step down' is in quotation marks. I should have been able to discern earlier.

Abuja o.

When they were running riot in Niger, shebi the government looked the other way.
Now they're emboldened to move to the Capital City.

Who would have ever thought we could descend into this mess in security under the rulership of a Rtd. General

Politics › Re: Owo Church Attack: Eternal Sorrow Awaits Perpetrators - Buhari by LibertyRep:
Not unexpected.

No intelligence report.

This isn't some remote village in Kaduna or Zamfara ( apologies to the residents of these states) where the terrorists hold sway.
This is Owo, a prominent town in Ondo, a state in the South West.

No, there's more to this, but to what purpose?
Politics › Re: BREAKING: Bandits Kill 50 In Ondo Catholic Church by LibertyRep: 2:31pm On Jun 05, 2022
Damn!

It is obvious that the current security arrangements cannot secure Nigeria and Nigerians.

Let every state protect her citizens.

Empower every LG to protect her indigenes.

Gunmen attack of this magnitude is strange to South West and couldn't have been carried out by Southwesterners.
Politics › Re: Issues In APC; There Should Be Primaries - Segun Ayobolu by LibertyRep: 8:02pm On Jun 04, 2022
Even if they don't want a particular candidate to fly their flag, they should at least team up to defeat him at the primaries and not through the back door.

It's simple then.
Pick a consensus from the aspirants that had keyed into it, then let the annointed candidate slug it out with the ONLY candidate that refused the consensus option.

Does that not make the job easier with less of bad blood?

It's a very tight corner APC has found itself.
Eventually the extension granted by INEC may not avail them enough opportunity to solve the myriads of problem bedeviling the party.
Politics › Re: "I Won The Heart Of Ogun Central..." - Princess Majekodunmi-oniru by LibertyRep: 11:38am On Jun 01, 2022
There were no primaries in most states. The governors simply wrote the results in favor of their preferred candidates.
They have played into the hands of the President who will inturn decides who flies the flag of the party.

Consensus will always breed bad bloods.
Let everyone go to the field and show their strength in a free and fair process.

You have put up a great fight, but the system worked against you.
Don't relent and the discouraged. Together the system could be sanitised

Politics › Re: Warning- No Southern Politician Should Be Atiku's Running Mate by LibertyRep: 11:31pm On May 29, 2022
Was there no contest?
These people should quit whining.
Atiku's part of the North too hasn't produced the president since God knows when.
Plus PDP hasn't also produced Yaradua as a Northern President which didn't even last up to three years.

You see, everyone has a story of marginalization to tell.

They should rather identify and campaign for their chosen candidate instead of dishing threats that may further infuriate would -be- voters.
