AyabaS: Really! Ladies aren’t allowed to create threads or what exactly is surprising you? I’m genuinely curious. Mummy calm down, don't go all feminist on me. We ladies have a way of nursing our stuffs and I expected more involvement from her in the thread. The way you pipu lap up this "what a man can do.... " thingy is actually making things difficult for open minded people. I'm female and I've created more than one thread on this platform. |

oohunt: The story of my return to Canada.
Hello all, you may know (or not know me). I started this thread 3 years ago when I wanted to understand what it was going to take to live in Canada. We had our soft landing in 2017 which I shared.
So, our decision was to finally migrate in the summer of 2020. By then, my daughter will have completed her primary education. And then covid-19 struck! In the mist of the chaos, the fears and global uncertainties, we maintained that it is still a good decision to move. We have spent close to 3 years in Naija. It was going to be now or we lose out completely.
Canadians and PR holders were exempt from the Canadian travel ban. We started looking for flights in June, even though the Nigerian airspace was closed. We learnt about the evacuation flights and searched for ways to get on one. We contacted the Canadian embassy in Nigeria. They told us that they no longer organize flights because (1) of the shelter-in-place enforced in Canada (2) they heard the Nigerian airspace was going to open “soon”. They told us about a flight organized by a third party company known as 7 Star Global Hangers. We reached them and booked to leave on the 31st of July at 12pm. And so our journey begins...
7 Star is a Nigerian company who partnered with a Microfinance bank and Wamos Airline (Madrid) to evacuate stranded Nigerians to USA and Canada. We got to the airport on the 31st and joined the queue outside the airport. Only to be informed after about 45 minutes later that the flight (Wamos Air) had not even touched down in Lagos and that the flight has been postponed. The most annoying thing was that we contacted 7 Star the night before to confirm this flight, and they said that everything was okay. We also learnt that there was a WhatsApp group and that most people knew that the flight would not make it. We did not have reliable information about why this flight was postponed. Other people at the airport told us they said 4pm and another said 10pm. We had to make several phone calls to our contacts at 7 Star, 2 ladies, who did not know what was going on and could not give us any definitive response. Later in the evening, I called another number I found on their flyer, the MD of the microfinance bank. He told me that there was an issue with the payment between 7 Star and Wamos Air. Wamos refused to leave Madrid until they receive their full payment. This issue was due to scarcity of forex. Our flight has now been postponed by 4 days. Imagine! So, we went back home.
It took my persistence (and that of my husband) to get added to that WhatsApp group. The only 7 Star staff that could add us had issues with her phone. This plus the fact that she could not read or respond to frustrated passengers did not help matters at all. At this time, I did not have any faith in them or in the new date. But my husband was more patient than I was. He maintained that we should wait! Left for me, I would have demanded a refund. But a refund from a Nigerian company also has no guarantees. They can decide to refund you 1-2 week later….by that time, we would have lost out completely if the flight eventually leaves Nigeria.
So, came Tuesday the 4th, the flight was postponed yet again, to Wednesday. Reason: Wamos, USA/Canada need the full manifest of the passengers. So, 7 Star received ticket payments and did not have detailed information on its passengers. We were asked to send our information to 3 different email addresses over 2 days. We did. It was obvious that the first 7 Star email address given to us, was not working or not being monitored. Several passengers had to step in to help this process. I heard someone say that he actually went to the 7 Star office to help them organize this list. There was even a suggestion to have the manifest stored in excel sheet with data captured using google forms. We did that, but 7 Star rejected it, reasons best known to them. The energy in the WhatsApp group was so discouraging & demoralizing because people were frustrated, impatient and did not trust 7 Star, some even said it was scam. Thankfully it was not, they did not have their act together at all!!
On Wednesday, got to the airport early among the first 20 (I think). We were supposed to be over 300 passengers. Route: Lagos > Toronto > Newark and then Newark > Toronto > Lagos. (Their flyer when this was advertised is the reverse, the flight was supposed to originate from Newark).
We got our luggage screened. And queued up. After about 30 minutes, the queue stopped moving. Then the queue kept getting longer and longer because they had only one staff checking the passengers information: passport, visa/PR, payment confirmation. We learnt that they were using an old manifest and not the updated one, they could not find some people’s names. Trust us naa, people who were at the back crowded around the guy and there was no queue again, it was now how smart, or how loud can you shout. We are forced to queue else, they wont attend to us. This time, we are in close contact, social distancing gone out-of-the-window. There was this lady, her voice was the loudest, yet she came from the back. Anyway…
It got to our turn, they checked our passports, PR cards and payment receipt and were are allowed to check in our bags. When we got to the gate, we were happy to see the WAMOS AIRPLANE! We are finally going to fly today. Little did I know that the journey has not even started. I knew that we were not going to leave at 4am because of the long queue outside and also because the check-in process was not organized. I already prepared my mind to be patient. It wasn’t long and they asked us to board. Families with children first thankfully. We went in, sat, sent messages to our loved ones…and waited……………….from 3am till 10:50am when our flight eventually left. Why?
Wamos refused to fly. 7 Star boarded some passengers whose names were not on the manifest they sent to US & Canada. US and Canada needed to okay everyone first before they leave. There was a lot of back and forth. Wamos also tried to get the passengers off the plane, the pilot told us their bags have to be removed. Wamos called some names, the people did not bulge. At a point we were told (through WhatsApp group) that there were some passengers who had paid, whose bags have been check-in and were not allowed in. The rest of us who had been waiting for more than 5 hours had to agitate for them to take us out of there. Eventually, those people who were left out were allowed on and we left.
We got to Madrid 4-5 hours later. The Madrid stop was supposed to be 1 hour, to refuel. But instead, we were told that we have to alight, identify our luggage and then go into the terminal. We did this in batches of 10s, then entered a bus that drove us to the terminal. Here we waited and Wamos issued another boarding pass to all of us MAD -> YYL. The wait here was 10 hours.
We boarded the flight and slept off for 7 out of 8.5 hours. Everything was smooth once we landed in Toronto and made our way to Calgary. We had to cancel our previously scheduled flight from Toronto to Calgary. We were lucky to get on the next available flight without waiting.
I tried as much as I can to sanitize. But I can tell you it was not 100%. We had our masks on the whole time. The longest we have ever worn a mask. We are currently observing our 14 day isolation. I am grateful to God that we are healthy, and may it continue this way, in Jesus name!! Wow, who would have believed that a lady is the OP of this wonderful thread. May God make your stay in Canada a fruitful one. Amen Welcome home. We're coming behind oo |

Also to get started, what are the things to have in standby and important fees to pay first after creating an account on the website. Try to calculate your crs score based on the documents available to you at the moment. Getting jobs for aipp is a major challenge. I think express entry is your best bet. |

UmmuYusroh: I and my husband are planning to relocate to Canada through AIPP or Express entry. We don't know anyone in Canada, just want to give it a try. Though due to my husband tight work schedule here in Nigeria, we are thinking of using an agent.
So, I need your advise, is the process a thing that we can do all by ourselves with his tight schedule or we should use an agent? Also, can someone give a gudeline on the amount that agent do charge. Leave agents out of it. If hubby is too busy, you get to work. You can do it. He only needs to get involved when needed. Even the most genuine agents will only sit in his office, collect your money and make you do all the work. |

justwise:
i want to believe that you are joking..or innocently naive
Who told you that an agent can get you a real visa without you paying anything?
He can give you that assurance because he knew that he will definitely put fake visa stamp on your passport, collect that 1.4M then do a runner.
Canadian embassy is closed so there is no way he can send in an application for you or you going for medical.
You can't work with visiting visa in Canada, so he lied to you when he said that you will be able to get a job within a month.
Good luck Boss, please is the Canadian embassy open now? |

Lisa001: Good evening Mamas I circumsised my Lo last week via the ring method, took him back to the hospital today as we were told to do if the ring falls off, it isn't healed properly so we were told to apply pennicilin ointment but he has been crying and uncomfortable all day besides I noticed stain of blood on the diaper
Pls what can I use to speed up healing ad ease pain?
Thanks Apply pennicilin to cotton wool and wrap round the pen*s, then use a soft cotton piece of cloth to hold it (as if you want to wear him nappies) before wearing his diaper, the cloth will prevent the diaper from rubbing against the wound.. Do this until he heals. Pele. The nurse recommended that we give vitamin C to him for fast healing. |

goldenone: Thanks so much mum! I swear you know exactly how I'm feeling and I'm laughing here. Thanks so much ma. I've limited his feeding to strictly at least two hours interval. You need to see how my mum and my sis used to yab us. But our overfeeding paid off...at his last immunization, he was looking almost as big as the 6 months olds there, and he was just 10 weeks. Tall and chubby. Lol. So, let him eat, it will show on his body. |

goldenone: Good afternoon mommas, pls I need your inputs. My 5 week old DS has big tummy from feeding. Yesterday morning he appeared to be overfed cos he didn't leave the breast all through the night when he couldn't sleep, then in the morning he did drama for me when he vomited and was acting strange and it took him some time to recover. Since then I've been timing his feeds which he appears not too pleased with. Mommas I want to know if the tummy size will become proportional to his body size later cos I want to seriously reduce his feeding. Lol, I think it will, my baby was like that at first, now at 11 weeks, he's having nice looking tummy unlike back then that he used to look like an overfed puppy . Please, don't reduce his feeding o, you can stop the overfeeding tho. |

Everybody laughs at him because he always feed till he's looking round. He's so big now at 2 months plus. I know it's due to always overfeeding. I've started to control his feeding tho. |

Graced2018: Hello Mamas,
Can we discuss Episiotomy please? The pain from the suture site is PAINFUL.
Yes , I'm doing the sitz bath (Warm water, salt and a dash of savlon)
I also got a cooling spray which works briefly and the pain returns.
Dear mamas who had the cut/tear, what are your tried and tested methods for healing? Kindly share, this pain is getting out of hand, I have finished taking all the prescribed painkillers.
This is 8 days after delivery... I stopped sitting on warm water the third day cos it seemed it was causing me more harm than good. Maybe because of the hot weather.. I started using ice park, and I healed in 6 days. I was shocked too. As for the pain, I didn't use anything for it except for the drugs they gave me in the hospital. I made sure that the place stayed dry most times, i e no panties, just pieces of clean soft clothes to use as pad. Don't use gel pads, e.g always...they can cause infections. After peeing, run clean, cool water thru the place and pat dry. It'll heal faster. Sorry.. |

Let me type my BS as I kukuma dey vigil I came online to rant about baby not coming on the 17th of February or so, which was my Edd, I was just so tired of the load, doctor said my baby is 4kg because of what he was measuring, I was scared, he told me to do another scan, I did and was told 3.7kg. Hmmm In the morning on the 18th, I started having mild contractions, I prepared to go to the hospital without my bag, but on my way, I noticed that the contractions were not regular, so I diverted my waka go hubby office, I was with him till he closed for the day, with the contractions coming and going. By 11pm that same day, contractions were more regular and more painful, I started checking the timing, it was 5 mins apart, I chechek Google to know when to go to the hospital, Google said when it's 3 mins apart, by 4a.m, it was 3 mins and I couldn't stand again. I waited till 5am and we called a cab to take us to the hospital. Immediately we got there, I was taken to the labor room and a giant nurse with fat hands came to tell me that she wanted to check me. What?? With this hand, I've read about this checking here on nl and I was already scared of it, only for fat hands to come and tell me "lie on your back let me check you". I told her no need, I will know by myself when to push. Fortunately for me, a slim and more elderly nurse came and told me she will check me, I quickly said, yes ma. She checked and said that I was 6cm... I asked if I could stand because I just couldn't lay down, she said it's okay to stand, so I stood by the bed, dealing with the pain. By 8am, I was fully dilated but baby's head wasn't down, so I was given oxytocin, Omo, I visited heaven and returned, by this time I was told to lie down, I was begging the nurses to allow me to stand, they said I should stand if I want my baby to drop on the bare floor. Screaming started, hubby was just outside the window, hearing my shouts, Chai! So embarrassing. Around 9 45am, I was told to push with the next contraction, I did and my baby's head came out, then the contractions stopped. One nurse was shouting Jesus! Jesus! The elderly nurse told her to shut up and stop scaring me. She told me that I'll have to push the rest of the body by myself, I was already so tired, but I told myself to be strong for my baby, that's how I use the last strength to push my 3 3kg longinus out. He just tall full everywhere, that was why they were seeing 4kg. Na so my prince made his grand entry with style on the 19th of February, giving me massive jagged tears, the stitching na story for another day.
Let me rant small,. He look so much like his father and I feel cheated, I was the one that felt all the pain, this boy go dey resemble another person. Seriously?? Thanks to all mothers here, I learnt a lot from this thread. Cappo Beyedew, I don submit BS o. #running off to new born baby thread..... |

Awesomemama: BA/BS Started taking short walks of about 40mins and zobo drink when i clocked 39weeks. But all I got was pelvic pain, no show or contractions. A day to my edd I decided to double my walking distance. Still nothing, only had severe body pains. Edd came and passed On the 22nd night I ate a whole pineapple, later woke up around 5am feeling nauseous and vomited. When I was getting ready for church, I vomited again. Came back from church hoping for a miracle to deliver that same day, but God had better plans for me. On the 24th I went to pee, wiped and I saw show. Few minutes later I started having slight contractions. Went for my usual evening walk that evening and contractions became more painful averaging about 10mins apart. Managed the pain through the night. It became more painful and regular, say 5mins apart in the morning. On our way to the Hosp I'll scream at DH to park so I can rest as the road is bumpy and at the same time tell him to drive fast. Luckily for me the Hosp isn't far from home. Finally got to the Hosp. Some mins before 12pm. Doctor checked and said I was fully dilated but contraction wasn't strong enough to bring baby's head down as there was still little space. Oxytocin was introduced, was still having my regular intervals of about 5mins. It was later increased and I went to heaven and back. Had about 5 contraction in 10mins, each lasting about 45secs. I later started having the urge to push and was told not to push yet. While we were at it my membrane ruptured and was told to push at the next contraction. By 1:31pm and with 3 pushes my beautiful princess made her grand entrance weighing 3.3kg with plenty tear. God stood by me all the way and I'm extremely grateful. He will make it easier for the remaining Feb mama's and every mama here... Amen No hanging or throwing of boot. Shreading the boot and handling every piece to gtc mums. I join my faith with yours, it is done in Jesus name.... Amen Cc. beyedew Cutemarvel Congratulations mama. All these 3 3kg shidren sef... Welcome to the world my baby wife |
