brain54: The average cost of a 50kg bag of cement around the world is 4700 to 5k naira...
The price of a bag of cement in Nigeria should be around that price. If not for certain people milking the hell out of Nigerians! I do not understand the rationale for local production when it ends up being more expensive than imported alternatives. Basic economics suggests focusing on areas of comparative advantage; no country needs to produce everything, especially when the same goods can be imported at a lower cost. Import bans in such cases only accelerate poverty—if local alternatives are not cheaper, we are merely redirecting financial flows to a small group of individuals or entities at the expense of the wider population. |

1. The soon-to-be-phased-out tax regime requires everyone earning N30,000+ to pay tax.
2. This is simply an assumption — it’s practically impossible.
3. What do you mean by “private bank accounts”? The CBN regulates all banks.
4. This is true, but the authorities are dragging their feet on making a final decision, and the delay continues to hurt the market. The government needs to act; market participants dislike uncertainty.
5. Again, this is practically impossible.
6. I have no information about this, and I haven’t come across anything that confirms it — though it’s possible you may be right.
7. There’s nothing wrong with it as long as the income is taxable. Most countries are optimizing their tax systems to boost revenue, and this is one of the avenues through which they can achieve that. |

Fujiyama: ^^^
It is a pity some of you are still treating this as a game.
In your book, only 5% of Nigerians are affected by banditry and general insecurity.
Students, farmers, youth corpers, transporters, traders, security men, artisans etc. are dying in their thousands on Nigeria's highways and in her towns and villages...but you say nearly 100% of Nigerians are unaffected. Have you done a fact check on vehicle traffic from motor parks in this country? Do you know how much transport volumes declined under Buhari and now under BAT?
Like I always say, we will all drink from this bitter cup, Those of you downplaying these aberrations will not escape when the devourer
^^^
But that's exactly what the opposition has been doing.
But you also miss the bigger point. The opposition can do its thing. It doesn't owe Nigerians anything. It is BAT that owes Nigerians something - and he isn't doing anything to meet his own end of the deal. Five percent is over 10 million people — the implications are huge. I’m not denying the rise in insecurity, but shutting down the country isn’t an option. Should we cancel Christmas because of it? And on your last point: if this chaos is what the opposition calls strategy, they’re doing a terrible job. |

Nigerians are poorer today, workers have lost purchasing power and you talk about that as improvement ?
There absolutely no metric of development that has improved none Inflation has improved, GDP growth is up, the trade balance is strongly positive, the exchange rate is stabilizing and appreciating, and both PMI and the NGX are rising. If you have data that says otherwise, bring it. |

I wonder who would be left for him to rule in 2027 after everybody has kpaid and those left are so improvised! It’s an outright fallacy to say the Nigerian economy is in shambles—no economic indicator supports this position. Yes, there’s an upsurge in banditry and general insecurity but should that stop the other over 95% of Nigerians who’re not affected by this crisis directly from living their normal lives which itself is connected to the well-being of the economy. Political parties and their activities are a vital part of democracy; we should not strangle democracy because of the current situation. Do you know the economic and social implications of that? Actually, this is the right time to play party politics for a serious opposition. With the upsurge in insecurity, a serious opposition would’ve used the situation to galvanize support from Nigerians to remove the incumbent, but hey, they’re retards with zilch balls |

IMO. PO is not even a politician. Tinubu is an embodiment of your typical African politician- crafty, corrupt, nepotistic and non-empathetic.
PO isn’t even a career politician. Politics seem like an after thought, the drive to leave a mark.
I give it to the West when it comes to control of the media, they can easily push any narrative, the ability to discredit a good man, or launder the image of a corrupt character.
At the end, deep in your heart, you know who would have been better, who would have had genuine concern and empathy for the citizens.
But no, we must stick with that which makes us feel alright even when it’s all wrong. That which benefits our family alone at the detriment of others.
Yes, I agree with you, PBAT is a better politician, and this is not sarcasm.

The Nigerian state as it stands is not fair to the Igbos. We want to take our destiny into our hands. The Nigerian state does not guarantee justice and equity. It was not created to succeed It was created to serve the interest of those who created it. As long as it continues to serve that interest to detriment of the people, she can NEVER progress. Igbo are hardworking, intelligent and an egalitarian. We only ask for an environment where we can progress to our full potential. The Nigerian state as it stands does not guarantee that. Fair enough, but you must understand that life does not grant wishes; you’ve to work it out, and in this case, politically—with as little collateral damage as possible. The starting point is electing leaders from amongst you who’ll prioritize your desire to leave the country. If you can’t get that right, you’ll suffer much more under self-rule. |

Continue living with this sense of insecurity—because sooner or later, you may be required to present special documentation just to move within your own country, as people begin to assume you pose a security risk, much like how certain groups today face automatic suspicion in public spaces. Now imagine the implications of such policies for a people whose population is widely dispersed beyond their homeland… It would reshape their future, their business prospects, their opportunities, and even the legacies they hope to build. Think. And if you believe that Igboho has no significant support base in the South-West, you are mistaken. But when push comes to shove, SW people choose to prioritize their long-term future and stability over any momentary sentiments. |

Now the US has pressured Tinubu to sack his useless defence chiefs and also pressured Nigeria to use super Tucano to go after Fulani terrorists with massive hits recorded. The sultan is now calling for a meeting. Why are they panicking?
Matawalle's relationship with bandits have remained murky. Some allege that he maintains links with them still. The DSS does a thorough background check on everyone appointed to sensitive positions at the national level. But they don't make decisions for the president. Tinubu would have known about Matawalle's alleged links with terrorists. Why did he still appoint him as minister of state for defence? You know what is funny is that Matawalle's is known as Tinubu first son in political circles---he can get away with almost anything it wil be interesting to see the president remove his from office. |
