FamilyRe: Living With A Dictatorial Father, How Do You Cope? by Liss(op): 6:56pm On Jan 03, 2010
skfa1:
Maybe u should get married
I can't get married sorely bcus I want to leave my father's house na. I am not ready to be married as I have not found who I would want to live the rest of my life with.
Tsiya:
wow. . .

You just have to patient with him. Why even go to different church with your parents? Isn't that an insult to them?

If you dont get married and move out, you will have to leave by the rules.
I have tried so hard to be patient but not succeeding. When I try to talk to him, he starts to shout and almost hit me a while back. I go to a different church bcus his church does not speak to me at all! My spirit does not get replenished, I just sit and mind is far away, I thot we are supposed to worship God in spirit and in truth, undecided

FamilyLiving With A Dictatorial Father, How Do You Cope? by Liss(op): 6:36pm On Jan 03, 2010
I am just a few years close to thirty years old and my father still wants to control my every movement! For instance, I went to a different church than his and he locked me out for hours! saying since I didn't want to worship in the same church as his then I should move out or get married! Recently, I got home about 9.15pm from visiting a family member and he ranted and raved at me.

I am so tempted to actually move out and be by myself but society frowns on ladies living on their own. What or how can I make him realise that I am a grown woman and can actually call his bluff!

Please help cos I am suffocating here,

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Taking Up A Scholarship And Quiting Pwc by Liss: 8:25pm On Dec 16, 2009
Focusmind:
My friend got a scholarship through the OPEC FUND FOR INTERNAIONAL DEVELOPMENT(OFID) for a masters degree in Petroleum Engineering at the University of British Columbia, Canada. He currently works with PWC. He is contemplating whether to take up the offer and quit his job or continue with PWC. He is scared about the present rate of unemployment. I have already, adviced him to take the offer that I did same when PTDF offered me scholarship. I had to resign from my work. His program would be starting on 6th January,2010 and he has not made up his mind whether to call it quit with PWC. He is an engineer and have qualified as a chartered accountant with PWC.
I totally agree with you. I would accept the scholarship so fast, my head would spin! The truth is you might not be coming back from Canada if you got very good grades and got a job in one of their oil companies over there especially considering your 3 yrs experience with PWC, a multinational company!

. This decision is God made in my opinion o!It's not like you would be struggling to get money for your upkeep na, and you will be get you Master's degree free of charge! Hmmmmmmm,

Well sha, person way no get head na him get cap, lipsrsealed

Can someone who has taken this exam give us view of what is all about?
Well, the questions contained various types - Logical reasoning, Verbal reasoning, current affairs, quantitaive reasoning etc.
callmeseun:

Neither did I o, answered about 50 sumtin before the time was over.
The time has been extended to 7pm today so that at least gives people the room to be able to get it done. They sef no try sha, one had to fill out their questionaires first before going to the exam proper,

otokx:
more scores are coming in and they are on the low side. 11%, 33%, 24% that range
otokx:
Candidates have been doing it at the cybercafe where i work and the highest score so far has been 45. The average has been in the mid 20s with someone even getting 10%
Lol, can you blame them? 60 questions for 30mins! Which included some calculations o! However little. I just finished mine, tried it out for fun and had just 40% sad

But I didn't cheat sha, maybe if I had I could have scored more, grin

RomanceRe: IS Honeymoon Trip Really Necesarry After Marriage by Liss: 10:52pm On Nov 14, 2009
It isn't necessary, but the couple need to create a suitable environment for deep bonding after all the stress involved in the wedding. This should be away from family and friends as much as possible.
That said, the couple must agree on what they do - neither party should seek to enforce his/her desires but there should be consensus. As always, not spend more than you can afford in an attempt to fulfill a 'custom'.
Abeg what do you call this? When u are in a suitable environment away from family and friends?
It is necessary o! cos i'll rather have the wedding low key than miss out on the honeymoon. It could be even in any nice place in and around naija afterall if i dont do it now when will i? when the kids arrive?
I totally agree wit you, there are somethings that can be compromised on, having a honeymoon is not one of them. The place though can be mutually decided.
RomanceRe: IS Honeymoon Trip Really Necesarry After Marriage by Liss: 4:57pm On Nov 14, 2009
Honeymoon na real necessity o, U can imagine d hustles & bustles, real life has to give. The truth is that some marriages have been saved as a result of honeymoon, ie it helps to remember how you started your marriage before real life interrupted.

The only thing is that money should be considered. You don't need to go to some exotic location if you cannot afford it but essentially you need a private place for you and your bride for a while. Another thing is that it helps to begin your life in a somewhat private way ie time away from relatives.

But I believe it should be done often too instead of just once in a lifetime!
CareerRe: Welcome To My Office by Liss: 7:44am On Nov 11, 2009
Hmmm, Had the worst day of my life at work on friday, 6th Nov, 09. I resumed work as an Training Officer in Human Resources and did my usual duties. Prepared training manuals for some colleagues I was expected to take on some safety training on Monday. Got everything settled according to plan and sent out reminders to all concerned.
I went a step further to hand deliver the invitations to the respective people within the company and by the time I got back at 4.05pm (55mins to COB & weekend!), a Snr HR Officer called me into a meeting room and hand delivered me a letter too,
I had been rendered 'REDUNDANT' as a result of downsizing! shocked

Needless to say I was shocked! Just got up and packed my stuff and moved out!
But despite it sha, I had a grt wknd!
I have gone to dust my CV and have started applying again sha, Abi how person for do. cool

I discovered several friends who have gone through and completed their CIPM examinations going in for ICAN an I wonder why. Is there any particular need for an HR practitioner to undergo ICAN certification in pursuance of a career in HRM?

Please advise.
CareerRe: Redundancy: Implications? by Liss(op): 7:54pm On Nov 09, 2009
Are you saying that there are no implications whatsoever of being rendered redundant? Especially in the eyes of the potential new employers?
I understand the whole role about the Labour Law's view on redundancy but I am somewhat skeptical about how the potential new employers would view the candidate who was rendered redundant at his old place of work.
CareerRe: Redundancy: Implications? by Liss(op): 11:20am On Nov 09, 2009
How so is what I really want to know. Any particular implications to it?
CareerRedundancy: Implications? by Liss(op): 10:33am On Nov 09, 2009
There is currently a redundancy exercise going on in my Organisation, people come to work and are simply shown the door under the guise of
" Redundancy".
Any idea what implication being rendered redundant is? As in, do organisations hire people rendered redundant or just like terminations or dismissals, they think you did something horrible that got you redundant. (I hate that word) angry

Would love input from everyone who has a knowledge on what redundancy does to a person's carreer.
RomanceRe: Mistakes Women Make When Choosing a Man by Liss: 11:18am On May 06, 2009
More so, women end up marrying men with similar qualities like their fathers or brothers. Its just how our brains are wired to detect those qualities and "bang" we're hooked. LOL!

I kinda disagree with that, what about women who grew up witout fathers and brothers, i.e fatherless or brotherless ladies!
