thanks for your timely responses, very encouraging

please my colleague just instilled another fear in me, she is using a representative but am not. in my forms i filled the following job descriptions: banking, credit and other investment managers (NOC 0122) AND CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES-FINANCIAL SERVICES (NOC 1433)
accordingg to her, the representative said the above named job descriptions do not fall in the recent job categories that they are obsolete. how true is this please? i do not want to waste my precious time, i actually got these job descriptions from the site www.cic.gc.ca
anyone with concrete info pls help, before i submit the forms,i really do not want to make errors,

many thanks
Would suggest you crosscheck your job descriptions with some professions on the list of 38 to be sure. All you need is at least a year's experience in one of the 38 listed professions. In your case, I would suggest you crosscheck your job descriptions with NOC 0111 and NOC 1111 as they seem closest to what you have here.
Note that the job descriptions are based on what you have done before or currently doing for at least a year.

Other methods of migrating to Canada exist apart from the skilled worker's program if you are not eligible. Example is the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). All da best.

I doubt the possibility of using a mastercard because you are requested to pay in Canadian dollars and I doubt that mastercards exist in the canadian currency, (am open to correction)

@ Hercules,

Where in Canada are you intending to reside and why? I mean why did you select that part Canada? Just wondering as I really don't have family there just a few friends so, it's somewhat a tough decision for me.

Also, how appropriate would it be to refer to my sister's in laws as my relatives. I don't think that is right as they are not directly related to me thru the marriage.

@ Everyone, how much of Canada do you know that would make you decide that this territory or province is the best for you? Pls, share.
TravelRe: Canada federal skilled workersProgram, by Liss: 11:15am On Jun 10, 2010
@LBT,

Why don't you try paying through a mastercard or visacard? I think it will reduce your hassles cos I am not sure Nigerian Banks deal so much in Canadian dollars.

@Hercules,
Many thanks for your elaborate response. Highly appreciated. You really did well with your expose. Lucky for you as regards the no interview thing o.

Anywayz, pls keep providing details for the house such as your first few weeks in Canada. BTW, do you have family back there or just friends?
TravelRe: Canada federal skilled workersProgram, by Liss: 9:45am On Jun 09, 2010
Your stories on your various visits to the Ghana office and the likely interview questions would help too, so as to prevent mistakes and refusals, thanks.

@ Hercules, I see what you mean by it showed. Thumbs up for you that you still kept at it. Some pple might have given up.

So are you done with the processes now? Have you received your visa now? Also, on an average, how much do you think one would spend on the application processes, as you are still required to have enuf to cater for yourself and your family for the first 6months you arrive in Canada.

Also, where in Canada are you hoping to live and do you have jobs already lined up? Pls, can you start from the initial application process till date?

You need to take the IELTS test, forget that letter issue, I have done the Federal Skilled thing and they asked that I should take the test, I took the bloody thing o. Kai the Federal Skilled thing showed me sha, but, I have overcome.
Hercules, I guess since you used the Federal Skilled workers route, then your occupation is one of the lucky 38 professions, right? Pls, let me know what your profession is as I was informed that only some certain professions can apply through the skilled workers class if there is no arranged employment.

Also, since you did not apply thru a lawyer or representative, how long did it take for them to reply you from Nova Scotia? What do you mean by it showed youhuh
FamilyRe: Intimacy In Marriage; Will It Always Be Good by Liss: 10:37pm On Apr 23, 2010
Nice thread with great responses.

As most people have said life's pressures may not always allow your Intimacy to be good but then there lots of things you can do to prevent it. Plus all the advices people have said, I'ld say you and your husband must also be committed to ensuring your intimacy remains good e.g ensuring your romance remains, helping one another out, making sure your children don't come between you two etc

Anyway, you can always read these books with your hubby:

- How to Make Love to the Same Person for the Rest of Your Life - And Still Love it by Dagmar O'Connor
- How to have great sex for the rest of your life by Val Sampson

All the best in your marriage!

RomanceRe: Intimacy Compatibilty Is A Myth! by Liss: 12:27am On Apr 23, 2010
For the lady who was wondering about books to read to help in preparation for your wedding night, such books include:

- The Act of Marriage by Tim LaHaye
- Great Expectations (An interactive guide for engaged & newly married couples) by Toben & Joanne Heim
- Sexual intimacy in Marriage (William Cutrer & Sandra Glahn)
- Some Gary Chapman books help too

P.S You don't have to watch ANY film!!! Sexual intimacy is inbuilt, i.e it is a dance as old as time. Noone will have to teach you what your responses, actions and the likes would be. All you need is be patient with each other, lose your inhibitions and talk to each about what feels good and what does not. Basically, just experiment and explore each other,

Another book (Not written by xtian authors) : Sex for Dummies!!!

All in all, it only works if you are both in agreement. That is, read together and agree on what works best for you both. All the best! wink

hmmmm, see life? Person way get head no get cap and person way get cap no get head.

Your cousin has two beautiful daughters and he is looking for a son? Hmmm, it is well. Has he blessed God for the gift of having children at allhuh Lots of people want a child (not children o) and can't get; whether girl or boy they'ld be grateful to called Papa something, Mama something.

I'ld say your cousin should first be grateful for having children. BTW, who is to say if he'll EVER have a male child? It doesn't matter if he impregnates 20 other women, if God doesn't deem it fit for him to have a male child, he certainly wouldn't. Abi, na him dey determine the sex him child go come?

Let him first be faithful in little and he might be given more. Being faithful in this case is loving his two children and blessing God for giving him the opportunity to have children!!!

Great! Now I see your point - Your earlier comment could be easily misinterpreted (as did Igbonla, Hotstepper and me) as being racial.

The labor market is free-for-all, well, except you're applying as a server in a chinese all-you-can-eat buffet. LOL! grin
What a relief! wink I just meant their influx increases labour market issues is all.

Racial kehuh shocked I am very far from racial o! Some of my very closest friends in my office are whites (several countries). Plus, that's one reason to love Canada, it's multi-cultural kiss.

Wow! A classic foot in the mouth situation here, coming from Liss, an HR professional  wink

Asians account for roughly 7 out of 10 people in the world, so you can't escape them once you step into a developed economy; not that you need to.

The problem with immigration in Canada is not excessive intake per se, but a disconnect between Immigration Canada and Corporate Canada. It is a long story if we begin to look under that hood. Maybe a separate thread would be a good idea.

Having said that, certain professionals remain in demand and will continue to be sought-after for a long time to come.
Of cos you are right about that, but remember that their influx also assists in generating labour market problems such as increase in unemployment rate for others, low wage and the likes, Classic HR issues,  cool No try diss me o! wink

Really, it bcus of what I read thru those links and was wondering if u guys felt the same way,

Hotstepper:
@Liss, where ever you go, u will see great poupulation of Asians cuz of their size, Canada is so multicultural that you will feel the presence of other nationalities, Vancouver is where there r a lot of Asians esp. Chinese,

However, I do not understand why the influx of Asians should be your greatest concern, e be like say u no ready go there then,
HS, It is not so much of a concern o, just wondering how u guys see it, is all. No biggie about it, it sure won't stop me from going there, grin

Na wa oh! Serious hard tackle, see an invited guest holding back the hands of the host. So you haven't heard of live and let live? What is with you and the Asians?

You can go start a business in Canada, don't have to join the labor market. Whether you will succeed at a business is another story entirely and also dependent on you.
lol, no mind me o! Just talking my own o. Spoke with a friend of mine in Norway today who also said the same thing, that the place is getting crowded with Asians and it's putting him off, lol, Funny enuf, the guy loves Canada like mad.

Checked out the starting a business thing but the money required is too much, abeg!

@Canuck,

I guess you right. However, after checking dat other forum, canadavisa, I got a link to several websites which got me thinking. The rate at which Asians migrate to Canada is a big turn off for me o, How do you guys see this?

Please share your views and experiences about the immigration which I hear has become excessive and has reduced the available jobs within Canada's labour market.
