Politics › Re: Edo Poll: He Has Never Won, We Always Assisted Him - Philip Shaibu Mocks Obaseki by Lithiumite: 3:28pm On Sep 23, 2024*. Modified: 7:29pm On Sep 23, 2024 |
emkz: Well, in fairness to Shaibu, he made overtures to Obaseki after Obaseki sidelined him.
In a church, he wanted to say hello to Obaseki. Obaseki's aide prevented him.
In an event, he received a handshake from other governors, Obaseki rebuffed him.
In an interview, Shaibu said he missed his governor.
What was the cause of their rift?
Shaibu said Obaseki did not want Shaibu to succeed him. Obaseki then took steps to frustrate Shaibu out of the race.
What did Oshiomole do to Obaseki when Obaseki was in APC in 2020?
It was the exact thing Obaseki did to Shaibu in 2024.
But Obaseki even went further. After kicking Shaibu out of his government house office, the rubberstamp house of assembly hurriedly impeached Shaibu. Shaibu's replacement was hurriedly appointed the same day without assembly approval. Shaibu went to court and vacated his impeachment.
Did Obaseki respect the court order?
Even if Shaibu is not the best of associates, Obaseki was unfair to him. Obaseki lacked the capacity of personnel management. Public service is not sole proprietorship.
Assuming the election was manipulated against Obaseki (let us not pretend, Asue was emasculated and in the last week, it was as if Obaseki was the one running the race); who'd come out and fight for Obaseki?
Obaseki has fought everyone and who is with him today? His last two months would be lonely, painful and full of regrets. Shaibu would gloat to no end.
Karma is truly real. Choose your battles wisely. The underdog today can begin to gloat tomorrow. Na got wey kpai for street dey let vultures feast on am. I am glad those people from that side who don't know how to mind their business will now learn to.....you need to understand the dynamics of every region or locality, just cause you hate someone doesn't mean everyone else has to.....I for one don't support LP but I would rate Otti as one of the best govs in the country and if obi does anything worth commending, I would do so effortlessly but those people, they eat, sleep, drink hate filled bitterness all their lives. |

LegalWolf: That election defied my expectations. As an outsider, I always feel Obaseki is credible. Has an excellent command of the English Language and one may be tempted to think he knows what he is doing, particularly with his credible criticism of the APC government.
Alas, Baba no show working. It was all cho cho cho! Sad!!! Nigerian politics is peculiar, obaseki was too full of himself, fluency in English isn't a yard stick for leadership efficiency. He was distracted from the get go he won his second term and was playing politics all through to the detriment of his administration, same is happening to fubara,4 years will come and go without anything meaningful because his antagonist will never allow his govt settle down.....that's the edge tinubu has over his proteges because he protects them from the vagaries of politics so they can focus on govt ,that's why you see them performing.....wisdom is profitable to direct. |

Oya let Philip assist himself to be governor now.
Infact he should just assist himself to be flag bearer. You people never get it..... shuaibu is a bigger political asset then obaseki anyday even in obaseki's LGA.....obaseki was hand picked by oshiomole from nowhere just as Wike did fubara..... these people then grow wings immediately they get to office thinking they are now invisible forgetting that political structures were built and maintained by their benefactors at a cost...... without oshiomole, nobody can ever hear obaseki same with fubara and wike or tinubu with fashola, ambode and Sanwoolu. |

seguntijan: So you still think APC rigged the elections to the extent that they rigged Obaseki’s LGA?
If Obaseki couldn’t win his own LGA, it shows how terrible he is as a Governor. He has failed his people and the whole of Edo State. Asue was the sacrificial lamb unfortunately.
Edo State has taught Obaseki an unforgettable lesson! 🥹
To all the underperforming governors , dancers and those not delivering, get ready, your people will speak just as Edo people spoke yesterday. #EdoDecides2024 #EdoDecides24 Don't mind them....if they win,it's the people's voice,if they loose it was rigged......we told them there was no way PDP could win this with the "bull in the china shop" obaseki. The reality of Nigerians today frowns at your mocking them, those ex presidents you mentioned are by protocol not allowed to criticize a sitting government because of the weight of their voices. It is only outliers like Obasanjo who break this protocol. As a novice, there are things I'll do in every sector you can mention and Nigeria will start seeing a positive turn around in three to six months, this is month sixteen so I ask you again, HOW FAR Only if it were that easy, why haven't you put yourself up to run for office even as an ordinary councillor!!
