Bebigiby1:
The reason why the police is able to brutalize and intimidate protesters is because of low turn out of Nigerians..... Many Nigerians are too selfish and tribalistic to support any movement that will move this country forward.... Based on lessons I learnt from attending the previous protest, I knew that this will happen as nothing will change if the protest is not massively supported by Nigerians within the 36 states.... It is a shame that majority of Nigerians can not come out to protest when fuel price is over N1500 per litre, Naira above N1700 to $1, leading to astronomical rise in prices of goods and services....
Tinubu's evil government may eventually destroy the country since majority of Nigerians prefer to tribalism and religious sentiments over good governance....
Stop sitting behind your phone and typing....enter street go join protest

There is a place already approved for the protest....why go and hold your own unapproved protest elsewhere.....they have to be stopped quickly so as not to escalate the security situation.....if you want to protest,go to eagle square.

APC had the president and party chair from the same zone from 2020 to 2022
We didn't hear a whimper of betrayal from you lots then
It is always easy to analyse when you're pointing fingers
Damagun is from NE when the party chair is zoned to NC
Anyway, with all of Wike's noise so far, only two govs are relating with him at least publicly
Majority of the others not speaking have nothing to loose if Wike gets the upper hand and nothing to gain if it's atiku.....they alone would single handedly decide who gets the party ticket in 2027.

Also majority of them are fist term govs and wouldn't want to get in the firing line by supporting any of them so as not to jeopardise their chances for second term....what's the point in getting dirty in a fight between Wike and atiku, what if you end up on the loosing side?

Zamfara isn't settled,Enugu has LP breathing down his neck, plateau would rather look away, delta doesn't want to carry the weight if financing the party alone, osun and oyo would rather stick with their kinsman, akwa ibom is equally not bothered, rivers is in his own mess already, bayelsa is too close to rivers to want it distabilised,Taraba really can't do much and Bauchi is for no one but himself, fintiri also knows atiku is getting spent.

I have traveled to 30 of the 36 states in Nigeria, agbero is in every state, yes Lagos takes the capacity understandably due to it's population size and commercial nature.

Wike is one of the most dependable allies anyone could have, name it from amaechi to GEJ to the legacy PDP in edo state to tinubu to,remember the former NDDC woman that was being tainted by akpabio, remember how wike protected her even with his own life same for fubara when amaechi was trying to use efcc to haunt him.

These things don't just happen but it's your past antecedents that would speak for you.....Wike alone single handedly make atiku loose the presidency......that guy is going to be the next vice president after shettima.

Fintiri was the one who read the collated results collated by PDP in Edo. He was the only PDP Governor who showed up for Obaseki. In fact, Wike practically dared any PDP Governor to support Obaseki and none did. The next door Governor of Delta state didn't even show up.

This weekend, Fintiri was in Rivers with Wike.

I said it that day that Fintiri was in Edo State to supervise the final burial of Obaseki's political history.
Leave those bitter souls who are filled with hate and can't see beyond there noses....we told them obaseki was toast long before the elections but their online support was only what it was, online!!

We told them all those wabara and co that were emphasising with fubara were only there to cash out and puff empty air even Bala Mohammed knows is limits and is just making mouth......fubara would eat his breakfast alone and in the cold......who could be so dumb as fubara.....still beats me hollow how a man with no known pedigree in politics would now see himself as a maverick just within 4 months.

Wike is big in the PDP true.
For Fubara to stand re-election he should go to a party filled with people who are against the system. Labour Party and not APP. Only then can he stand a chance, because he doesn't need to start with a political structure, they have natural followers. Labour Party ardents will naturally vote against whoever Wike fields. It will.be a tough one but it can be pulled off. Remaining inPDP or APC won't work for him. Remember the Ambode issue. Except he stays humble for a 2nd tenure.
Labour party would have been the final nail on his coffin..... you think fubara is that dumb!! He wouldn't even last Dec this year if he had gone to LP,he is already an orphan in PDP.....if he is wise he can still go back and seek peace.

Is this how it's done in Europe and other advanced counties too? With all these plenty water we still dey get epileptic power supply.

It means we have not harness how to use the water productively to benefit humanity and the only thing the unproductive government can do is to release the water into the houses of its citizens, causing deaths, displacements, permanent disabilities, hunger, malnutrition and extreme poverty amongst the citizens.
Not all dams are for hydro power, there are different types and sizes of dams....however I. Europ as you mentioned, their are strict laws about property development especially in low lying flood plains so as to avoid things like this.however here in Africa,it's anything goes and no one really cares where you build your house, even if it's right in the middle of the Atlantic ocean.

Why are all the dams releasing water?

Is it a normal practice?
Yes it is, dams have there water retention capacity and the water needs to get released when beyond that capacity especially during raining season.

It is done almost every year, even dams in Cameroon affects people here in Nigeria when released because water by nature would always find it's course no matter what.

Why can't waterboard have a means of discharging the overstayed water without flooding the city?

The waterboard generates funds and should be able to pay for damages and compensation....

That way, their heads will begin to have sense ...
There should have been irrigation channels where this water would have been useful for agriculture so as to avoid flooding in the densely populated parts of the water flow course.

start a CNG distribution business you say? Oga you no well. you think it's only car owners that buy fuel, what about people who own bikes? Some filling station even sell 1500 in my state, if you have so much money, living well and you are not close to the people touched by negative policies of this government, just shut up.

Take a taxi or bike you hear them complaining of how business is no longer profitable because of hike in fuel price. People dealing in food produy are complaining they spend so much on transport and realize little profit in the end. Your wife and a few others you know may be working in companies that can afford to scale the salaries of their workers but most companies can not they'd rather you resign or the downsize and most workers in the private sector I know are still receiving the same salary so what are you saying?

You supporting supporting a government that hikes electricity, fuel and taxes virtually every thing then offer palliatives that most of the people don't get and then offered a paltry 70k as minimum wage, how sustainable is that? I pointed out to the reality of things and you say I'm complaining, complaining to who? Are you the government? If you are their payed agent enjoy your stipend and get off my comment pls.
One of the best places to put your money in this economy is transportation and food businesses......I am a business man and I know this."a lazy man complains about his tools"

Yes you have a right to complain but my grouse is people like you who wouldn't be ready to adjust but would want things to still be as they were to the detriment of the whole economy..... people are living their lives and doing there businesses.

The governor and the PDP will eventually give him the ticket 🎫 when primary comes cos that's how the PDP is
You would to then expect a southerner to go queue on election day and vote another northerner after Buhari already did 8 yes.... It's same dilemma for obi,the north wouldn't want to vote another southerner to replace tinubu because because oce he gets to power 2nd term is always almost impossible to ignore.

The only go between is GEJ who constitutionally can only spend 1 term but he is rather too timid and not too kin on the prospect.....if tinubu wins 2027 don't be surprised because the odds are highly staked in his favour.

Politics isn't about sentiments or noise making.

The language goes to show you the mindset of the president. Thats why the other spokesman resigned, the tall fair guy. Energy cannot be deregulated without proper guardrails and oversight. You cannot set minimum wage in low naira and sell petrol at dollar equivalents in naira.if you want Nigerians to buy petrol at same price with Americans,UK,Canadians....you have to be ready to pay the same minimum wages they pay in those countries.
The govt is still the regulator of the sector, however energy pricing isn't directly under the purview of govt anymore....govt getting involved is about govt setting prices and it no longer is a free market and this would scare many investors away.....that's same complaint the refinery owners have been making that govt needs to hands off.

Juxtaposing with America....do you know how much taxes and average working citizen pays to the govt .....how many Nigerians pay taxes or are willing to buy same Nigerians want to enjoy subsidised fuel, power, air travel and even free food if possible.

what nonsense are you saying? How many Nigerians are on government payroll? How many cars use CNG and how many Nigerians can afford 700k above to convert their vehicles to CNG even if they do how many CNG stations do we have? Some states have none. A reasonable government would ensured CNG conversion and gastation distribution is significantly achieved to mitigate the impact of subsidy removal.

So if I'm using fuel for only what I need it for 1200 is not too expensive when most Nigerians earn below 100k and still have other expenses to take care of. Some of you are not normal because because if you don't see anything wrong with the state of things I don't know how to describe you.
When private workers get salary increments nobody hears,i personally know a number who already have,my wife included.

On CNG why not see the opportunity in starting a CNG distribution business and also installation rather than whine and complain like an old hag.

Fuel is 900 naira at NNPC in ikire osun state,I don't know where you get 1,200 from,I bought over the weekend while I was there on a business trip.....what percentage of Nigerians own cars and what percentage uses public transport.....you as a car owner wants govt to subsidise fuel that probably just you and your family would use as against the poor who don't have cars to enjoy subsidy.....it cost me 3k to get a staff from ikire back to Lagos just today which is fair compared to having to drive all the way to Lagos.

Everyone here isn't bothered about fuel prices because majority practically don't use private cars on a regular basis the way you city folks do as they consider it wastage, but many live better quality lives than many city dwellers.

While it’s true that the government aims to regulate and intervene only when necessary, the reality is that petrol pricing impacts everyone, especially the most vulnerable. A “willing buyer, willing seller” approach may work in theory, but without oversight, it can lead to price gouging and instability in essential services. Competition among independent marketers and refineries is important, but it needs to be balanced with consumer protection measures. The government’s role should include ensuring that no one is unfairly exploited and that essential goods remain accessible to all citizens, especially during crises.
I agree with you that the nomenclature in which the presidential spokesman coated such a sensitive issue is at best inappropriate.....however it's what it is,petrol pricing has been deregulated.

Petrol is too essential to leave entirely uncontrolled. Even in the US, UK, and Canada, the government plays a role in regulating fuel prices. In the USA, the government maintains strategic reserves to release when prices spike, helping stabilize the market. Allowing full deregulation without oversight would risk exploitation and inflation, especially in vital sectors like transportation. Fuel is not just another product; it’s a lifeline for the economy and daily life, so government intervention is necessary to protect consumers and ensure fair pricing.
There is absolutely no point crying blue murder over this, the process as just started and govt would only rather act as a regulator and intervened only in extreme exigencies......petrol pricing as it is,is now on a willing buyer willing seller basis.... independent marketers have been given licences to import so as to create competition also other refineries are also available to sell at what ever price they dim fit.

PoliticsRe: FG Distances Itself From Controversy Between NNPCL and Dangote Refinery by Lithiumite: 1:01pm On Sep 26, 2024
malali:
The government’s stance on the fuel pricing controversy between Dangote Refinery and NNPCL is astonishingly tone-deaf. By refusing to intervene and leaving Nigerians at the mercy of market forces, the administration shows a dangerous level of detachment from the hardships faced by the average Nigerian. President Tinubu’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, claims that because the market is deregulated, the government cannot interfere, effectively absolving the administration of responsibility.

This position is a betrayal of the public trust. If Nigerians are left to “negotiate” with billionaire businesses like Dangote and a monopolistic NNPCL, why did we even bother voting for this government? The presidency is acting as though the “buck doesn’t stop” at their desk, leaving citizens to suffer exorbitant fuel prices that affect every aspect of life—from transportation to food costs.

In tough economic times, leadership should step in to protect the people, not stand by idly while private entities dictate essential commodity prices. It’s clear that this administration has become detached from the daily struggles of the masses, showing no intent to use its influence to cushion the blows of economic hardship.
Does the govt come out to tell you how much you must charge in your business.....does the govt come out to tell dangote how much he should sell his cement.

If dangote gives you a price that's to expensive, you are free to source from other places including importation if possible.....other refineries have been given licences since obj era and till now have not being able to drop a single liter of petrol and their fire argument is that govt needs to hands off petroleum pricing in the market albeit full deregulation.

Govt has already offered to sell crude to DRL and others in naira so as to reflect on the pricing of the refined product.
