Let's set politics aside and discuss the real economic issues.

When people ask, "Where is the money saved from fuel subsidy removal?" I hope that question is not directed solely at President Tinubu or the Federal Government.

First, it is important to understand that Nigeria still runs a significant budget deficit even after removing fuel subsidies. The savings from subsidy removal alone are nowhere near enough to eliminate the deficit. In other words, removing fuel subsidies does not automatically end government borrowing.

What subsidy removal does is increase the amount of money available in the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC). However, FAAC funds do not belong exclusively to President Tinubu or the Federal Government. Constitutionally, those funds are shared among the Federal Government, state governments, and local governments. The President cannot spend FAAC allocations at will, nor can he dictate how state governors or local government chairmen use their respective shares.

Therefore, if the question is, "What is the subsidy savings being used for?" that question should not be directed only at the Federal Government. It should also be asked of your state governor and your local government chairman, since they receive constitutionally allocated shares of the increased FAAC revenue.

Secondly, even the Federal Government's share of the additional FAAC revenue is insufficient to cover Nigeria's annual budget deficit, which remains substantial. As a result, the country still has to borrow. The difference now is that, in principle, borrowing is no longer primarily intended to finance fuel subsidies or recurrent obligations such as salaries, but rather to support capital and infrastructure projects.

This shift in fiscal policy has contributed to improvements in Nigeria's sovereign credit outlook. Rating agencies such as S&P Global Ratings and Fitch Ratings have upgraded Nigeria's outlook in recent times, partly because of reforms including fuel subsidy removal and exchange-rate liberalization.

Finally, Nigerians should not expect these reforms to produce an immediate and drastic reduction in the prices of goods and services. The more realistic expectation is that they will help stabilize inflation over time, restore macroeconomic stability, and gradually improve purchasing power as the economy adjusts. Economic reforms typically take time before their full benefits are reflected in the cost of living.

It couldn't have been said any better.......the opposition supporters are being sold an utopia that Nigeria can become dubai in 4 years,its catchy and sweet to the ears but its all castles in the air propaganda.......this govt has done a very good job in stabilising the economy and halting the tanking,the major concern of the fg is the macro and they have been reputed both locally and internationally to have done a good job.

Don't worry,tinububl is working,he has already been tested and wr trust his ability to grow Nigeria.....our foreign reserves has hit $51b,NELFUND is covering over a million students, no more fuel scarcity,ASUU strikes,FDI is coming back,NGX has hit its highest growth index in history all this means one thing,the economy is better run under tinubu than it was under buhari......as for insecurity he still has a lot to do as he is failing in that.

But data and airtime was still cheaper and the value was far better than it is today. So how has this news improved lives or even your life as a Nigerian? He probably brought his friends and family into the business,to benefit from,and not to benefit Nigerians.

I am in logistics and I will readily tell you how much that road has positively affected by businesses.....quicker turn around time and reduced cost......we can now do a VI to eleko dash in 30 mins and epe now really feels like a part of Lagos than a far off place it used to be.

In case you never knew,if that road gets completed you can do a lagos to PH trip to fro same day,you can live in ondo south and work in lagos.....do you know how much impact that will have on livelihoods and businesses......the eastern ports will now be more accessible as cargo can be easily diverted to the onne and calabar ports and evacuated quicker back to the lagos or the north through the calabar-Abuja highway,do you have any idea what this can do to the economic growth of the country......open your mind and stop looking at issues from a tinubu vs obi paradigm......thats a rather myopic way of viewing issues.

As for Dele Momodu saying he will compete in Osun, the only reason he won last time was Governor Adeleke, with that support gone, Atiku will struggle.

The one thing atiku can pray 🙏 for is to get the highest votes and fight for a rerun which is difficult

Your parents and their parents inclusive......Nigeria didn't start to rot under tinubu,the decline had been systemic since after the first republic, the advent of the military n governance further worsened the decline and it would take another 20 years at the least to get back on the trajectory we were headed in our first 5 years of independence.......my parents too are equally guilty.

The real big reasons are China and running our refinereis and power sector at a loss in the name of cheap fuel and cheap electricity.

Smuggling was an issue, but intially locally made was far better than the smuggled ones...

Mismanagement was the biggest culprit,many of those companies were poorly managed and absolutely failed to evolve over time,the Asians have taken over textile manufacturing and new business models have evolved over time......cotton cost more than polyester or nylon,if many of managers of these companies were foresighted enough,they would have been able to mitigate that challenge and found ways round it.

Bola Tinubu have no path to reelection except through massive, brazen election rigging which will not augor well for him if he embarks on that.


My advice to him?

Throw in the towel, possibly cancel the idea of running for a second term and allow APC get a replacement. Summon Akpabio to call an emergency NASS sitting to revisit the electoral act and make some more amendments to make electronic transmission of polling unit results compulsory and the use of irev portal results for comparison of manually collated result before final announcement of winner. Also make the irev portal uploaded e-document of form EC8As tenable in court as proof should there be a need for election tribunal.


One more amendment; Presidential and Governorship election tribunal case must be completed before the declared winner can be sworn into office, therefore there should be a limited timeline for election tribunal, maximum six weeks to complete the entire case.



Anybody caught in person or captured on video snatching ballot box or fighting or harassing voters or INEC officials should be jailed a minimum of 10 years without parole even if the evidence of such act emerges months after the election is over. Undoctored videos of such act should be tenable in court as evidence.


Any security personnel caught in person or on video recording being involved in election malpractice should be sacked without delay and then jailed a minimum of 10 years without parole.


Set up a special emergency court for electoral offenders in every LGA and let the jurists be a panel drawn from Judges from each of the 6 geopolitical zones in Nigeria. A six-man panel of Judges for each LGA or Senatorial zone at most.

Do these things and watch Nigeria enter a new era of bliss and communal prosperity in few years to come
