PoliticsRe: Fintiri Builds ₦19 Billion Confrence Centre, While Children Learn Under Trees by Lithiumite: 8:25am On Dec 09, 2025
anonimi:
That is how we have allowed political interests to overshadow our expectations for government services and utilities provided by well paid civil servants.

What Finitri has done is what other governors of the 36 states have done in the last 26 years of return to democracy because of the misplaced priorities of 200 million tribal mumus who use zoning and rotation to fill government positions in the local, state and federal levels.

But it beats me hollow all the time, reckoning Lagos which is the richest state and the most rconomily viable isn't building multi billion naira conference centers while states that can't provide the most basic social service are embarking on such wasteful enterprise.

Unfortuneltly what I think or you think is irrelevant, what matter is what the military of the Confederation of Sahel States thinks or believe.

The Confederation of Sahel States has the right to seize the Nigerian military aircraft and its equipment as war booty, which means they can

use it or study its technology and attempt to reverse-engineer or exploit any intelligence or technological secrets it contains.
Stop all your despicable attempt at propaganda,it's infantile at best and only palatable to deadheads who can't tell their left from the other........Burkina Faso and those sahel rookies can't do zilch in open confrontation with Nigeria, they know this, their govts are so unstable that they look for anything just to look effective......you wouldn't want your biggest and richest neighbor to align with your conquerors, France!!

Lagos state gov alone can sponsor a coup to overthrow that Putin wanna be let alone the fg.....if they know they are serious, let them hold those men and the aircraft beyond 48 hrs.

Let them dear!!

AMINDA:
There's no one more qualified than him amongst the contenders. As former National Secretary of the party, the least he deserved was to at least participate in the party primaries. Tinubu is openly showing favoritism towards his cousin, Oyetola. In other states, we saw how he did everything including throwing long-term party loyalists under the bus to attract sitting governors and handing over party structures to them. Why is Osun's case different? With the same pattern repeated in Enugu, Ekiti and now Osun, APC is gradually showing that it has no internal democracy. If this continues, the implosion of the party is inevitable. The likes of Aregbesola have been vindicated.
I beg to differ sir. If he was favouring his cousin, then he would have ran for the guber ticket then and ensured he won since is the president......there has to be a balance, politics as a game is way deeper than you think,it's ever shifting sands especially in naija context......adeleke has played his game and the powers that be in aso Rock has favoured him,he has made the right offers and has gotten the right terms....... Omisore stopped him from crossing to the APC which tinubu would have wanted but he only won the battle but is already loosing the war...... however,I know omisore is a very experienced politician and I know he understands the game well not to go against tinubu.

They are still following VIPs in mufti and Camouflage uniforms..

Many are still gurading private properties..

The reason most big men prefer the services of Police is because they are the ones legally allowed to hold hard riffles and any weapon.. private guards and vigilantes

The Civil Defence that government recommends, only a handful of them are trained on weapon handling.. majority only does Basic Civil Security works..

The government should go a step further to grant licences on renowned private security outfit esp thise owned by retired officers of the Forces, to carry hard rifles and also the Vigilantes and Forest Guards... This alone would generate over half a million jobs in Security Business across the country.
You are very right.... Their are so many able bodied retired military and even police guys who can fill the gap.....many young people can come in and br trained on security duties..... There is so much money to be made which was hitherto going in pockets of those policemen unaccounted for and non taxable.

PoliticsRe: Nigeria’s Presidency Run From ‘Outside’, Tinubu Caged In Aso Rock – Senator Yari by Lithiumite: 11:24pm On Dec 03, 2025
jessicahanlo:
This Yari statement is loud, but honestly it raises more questions than answers.

If a sitting senator is openly saying the Presidency is being run from outside and we already have the President caged there, then Nigerians deserve clarity. You can’t drop that kind of bomb and then pretend it’s casual gist. If there are forces outside the Villa influencing national decisions, who are they? Politicians? Business interests? Foreign actors? Power brokers? Nigerians need transparency, not riddles.

At the same time, Yari is right on one point: Trump or any foreign leader cannot fix Nigeria. No outsider will come and do the nation-building we avoid doing ourselves. But if the “elite,” as he called them, are the ones hijacking institutions, then how exactly are ordinary Nigerians supposed to “solve the problem”? The same people causing the issues cannot be the ones presenting themselves as the solution.

What I find interesting is the contradiction:
He says Tinubu is being abused unfairly, yet also admits the President is “caged” and operations are done by others. If that's true, then the public criticism is actually misdirected the real question becomes: Who is running Nigeria?

This kind of comment should spark a national conversation, not just trend for 48 hours and vanish. If Yari truly cares about the One Nigeria Project, he should back his words with specifics, not political poetry.

Nigerians deserve clarity.
Nigerians deserve accountability.
And Nigerians deserve a presidency that is run from the Villa not from shadows.

What do you all think? Is Yari speaking truth, playing politics, or simply trying to position himself for something bigger?
Your 4th paragraph, theirein lies ur answer.....every president is cocooned into an inner wall surrounded by his close aides who are hitherto the gate keepers......many things happen on the outside without the knowledge of the president........yari is only remarking idiomatically and shouldn't be taken literarily.
PoliticsRe: Rufai Reacts As Tinubu Nominates Ex-INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu As Ambassador by Lithiumite: 11:51am On Dec 01, 2025
Ofunaofu:
Emefiele served the majority of his tenure under Buhari’s APC government. So if you want to blame him for economic mismanagement, you’re indirectly blaming Tinubu too, Tinubu brought Buhari and should share in the blame. It's the same APC

As for Cardoso, yes, he headed Citibank but heading a corporate bank and managing a nation’s currency are two very different ballgames. Even with Emefiele’s flaws, he managed the Naira-to-dollar exchange better than Cardoso has in just two years. To be precise: when Tinubu took office, the Naira was officially exchanging at N460 to a dollar; today, after two years, it’s over N1,500 to a dollar. Numbers don’t lie.

And your argument about Edun, Peterside, or Ali Pate? Being a marketer or investment banker doesn’t automatically make you a global economic heavyweight. None of them come close to the stature of Okonjo-Iweala or Adesina, which was the challenge to begin with.

So yes, political patronage is exactly the problem, and throwing fancy CVs around doesn’t change that.
And your argument about Edun, Peterside, or Ali Pate? Being a marketer or investment banker doesn’t automatically make you a global economic heavyweight. None of them come close to the stature of Okonjo-Iweala or Adesina, which was the challenge to begin with.
Even okonji knows the pedigree ot these men.....we can't all be world bank directors or international investment czars but wale edun has made his mark and your pointless begrudging of the finance guru doesn't take anything away from his pedigree.

This is the final time I would condescend to your jaundiced myopia claiming a man that was borrowing to defend the naira keeping it artificially low at 460 to the detriment of the whole economy.....you claim such a man has done a better job than the one who forthrightly ended the lacuna in our financial sector by ending subsidies, dysfunctional arbitrage that only benefited a privileged few......there is no point going further on this, you and your ilk are propagandist at best with your anti tinubu narrative which many sane minds are always quick to shoot down.
PoliticsRe: Jonathan’s Kinsmen Divided Over Omokri’s Ambassadorial Nomination by Lithiumite: 10:14am On Dec 01, 2025

nairalanda1:
I'm just amused with nigerians

Ambassadorial roles are rarely for diplomats...most of the time, they are rewards for cronies, and VIP's who can be useful or have been useful to the government, and yes for propaganda chaps like Omokiri.

It's common even in other countries. In the USA, the daughter of the late President Kennedy was appointed as an ambassador by a previous administration. In times past the former child actress Miss Temple was appointed as USA ambassador to two countries. NONE of them had diplomatic expereince.

Maybe for the really important roles they will give a proper diplomat eg Nigeria ambassador to the USA.

The real job will be done by the diplomats working under the eye candy ambassadors.

It's been like that for decades. At one time our ambassador to the UK was (drumroll) a former captain of industry. Not a trained diplomat. And he was on seat for years.

You can grumble, or get your senator to pass a law that restricts ambassadorial roles to ACTUAL DIPLOMATS...preferrably those with a degree in international studies self. But no Nigerian will do that, because it prevents chopping in the future. Including the senators who are eyeing such jobs when their time in the NA finishes.
Don't mind those holier than thou analyst......omokri has earned his keep and smartly so,let him enjoy it in peace......this haters were the ones to always quick to lampoon Reno for not being rewarded by this govt despite his yeoman's job at defending it even more vociferously than the president's party men,now he is being rewarded, they are now all crying wolf.
PoliticsRe: Rufai Reacts As Tinubu Nominates Ex-INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu As Ambassador by Lithiumite: 8:28am On Dec 01, 2025
Ofunaofu:
You just proved the exact point you’re arguing against.
No one said everyone must be a World Bank director, the issue is that Tinubu’s appointments are driven by political patronage, not competence.

Edun was a state commissioner, not some global economic force. Cardoso was a commercial banking guy, a corporate marketer suddenly repackaged as a top-tier monetary expert only after Tinubu appointed him.
Yet none of them including the ones you listed come close to the global stature of Okonjo-Iweala or Adesina.

And that was the challenge: name one person in this government on that level. Just one.
You still couldn’t.

So instead you fell back on political patronage is normal.
Exactly and that’s the problem. The ambassadorial list alone reads like a list of favours repaid, not merit-based selections.

Meanwhile, the results speak for themselves:
economic chaos, policy zigzags, worsening insecurity and declining investor confidence.
That’s not the track record of a government filled with world-class technocrats.

Until you can name that one global heavyweight, please spare us the lectures.
Facts aren’t propaganda just because they hurt.
Your ignorant self couldn't just read to find out wale edun and atedo peterside started investment banking together.....you call cardoso a marketer,a nab who headed Citibank which is a foremost international organisation ....I equally mentioned Ali pate, the minister for health, just go read up on him......your pdp brought the likes of emefiele and rabble rousers like SLS who couldn't differentiate politics from economic management...... emefiele"s tenure is on record to have been a disaster of humongous proportion.

Before you accuse anyone of typing gibberish, at least try to address the substance of the argument. A close examination of Tinubu’s ambassadorial list and, in fact, most of his appointments shows a clear pattern, political patronage over proven competence. That is not an opinion, it’s an observable reality.

If you genuinely believe the administration is filled with technocrats, then do this very simple thing: Mention just one person in Tinubu’s government whose global credentials place them in the same league as Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala or Akinwumi Adesina of the PDP era. Just one.

Until you can do that, please spare us the lectures about who understands the meaning of technocrat. The results of the administration so far, economic instability, policy inconsistency, insecurity and deteriorating international perception speak louder than any partisan defense.
The problem everyone has with you guys is your tactless unrefined criticism, putrid propaganda and your brazen confidence at ignorance...... should everyone be a world bank director or international development banker......go read up the achievements of wale edun,cardoso,pate- the minister for health,alausa- minister for education, even adelabu- minister for power who was an erstwhile cbn director, the minister of state for finance- anite.......

So many others who are erudite in their own light and can hold their own anywhere.......the ambassadorial lost clearly posited that there are career and non career nominees which is standard practice by all past govts......the lines of Reno and ffk which you would always like to insult are classified as non career nominations and yes political patronage is part of politics and governance.

Ofunaofu:
A close examination of Tinubu’s ambassadorial list makes it difficult to escape the conclusion that his administration has little interest in delivering purposeful governance or enhancing Nigeria’s global standing.

Across all the appointments made by Tinubu, not a single technocrat or credible expert can be found. It is therefore unsurprising that the economy is in tatters and that Nigeria’s stature within the comity of nations continues to deteriorate.

Lastly, This is obviously a thank-you appointment package to Yakubu for manufacturing the glitch that ensured Tinubu could grab it, snatch it, and run away with it.
You will just grab your phone and start typing gibberish like you are trying to misinform nonentities......no technocrats, like you even know what the term means.
