Hello House,

4. DH is a green card holder and lives and works in the US while i live and work in Nigeria. We have no intention of relocating me and the baby to the US for a few more years, therefore he hasn't filed for a green card for me and i am not ready to quit my Job also. I want to know if this will be an advantage or a disadvantage at the POE, if i get asked questions about my husband, where he is and what he does? i wouldn't want to be sent back just because my husband lives in the US already.
Tell them exactly what it is, you will have no issue.

Happy new year to all past, present and future missionaries grin. To the present missionaries how is the journey thus far. I know God has been faithful.
Pls do I need to open an American account to be able to register and use Uber. Pls suggest a way for me cos I don't want to open an account. Also what US line will u advice I get. This lines are terribly expensive. In the Uk I got line for free. US things tire me oh.
You should be able to use your Nigerian account for uber depending on the bank. However, most banks have restricted foreign transactions on their cards so that would be your challenge.

To avoid stories that touch with NGR Debit cards, always chose to pay with cash (USD) or just open a US account, it is seamless.

Thanks.

Yeah I mentioned that it's self pay. I went on to ask her if there was a recent price increase, she said she cannot say anything about that but that this is the price (quite rude) undecided

I'll call again in the new year. I suspect that she has added epidural to the fee.
She may be giving you a very incorrect information. Some of these front desk guys are incompetent. Speak with your physician

thanks a lot o God bless you.

Please when was this.

I called them yesterday they told me that its $4,036 for VD. Not sure if they have already added epidural?

The woman was quite unhelpful; my contact there (when I had my baby there the last time) is on vacation / away for the holidays
September 2016.

Did you mention that you are self-pay?

Physicians coordinate healthcare in the US. It is best you speak with your physician to give you a breakdown of his fee and the hospital fee.

Hi all ,I am the lady her husband abused physically sometime in September,I would be due God's grace in a week's time,e hasn't bothered reaching out,but I decided to reach out to ask him on two occasions on what contribution he would make regarding the birth of the baby,he read and ignored, now I am confused on what last name I should give the child, because from all indication he has proven he doesn't want to be involved in the child's life, note I still bear my last name cos we did just traditional marriage,if I give his last name won't father's consent be required and won't I be disturbed at the airport when we want to travel?pls I am open to suggestions pls!thanks
If your 'husband' isn't forthcoming, speak with his parents/family. Make sure you get their input on what to do and go with whatever they tell you haven put forward your concerns. In Africa, we marry the family technically and not primarily the individual. They can defend you when push comes to shove.

I do hope you are prayerful in all you're going true. It is well with you

Ok thankyou. But can my partner tender his own statement of account. We are not yet married though so we do not have same surname. Will they ask for proof to show he is my partner? Thank you. I am starting the visa process this Jan so I want to get information I need before I book for an interview. Thnx
To be honest with you, long explanations makes it easier for them to deny you. It is mostly black or white with these VO and hardly a shade of grey.

Your partner should move the money to your account for the purpose of securing the Visa.

Ifylicious:
Happy holiday everyone. Pls i need to ask a question. My trip to go give birth in the US would be sponsored by my mum's step brother. We all do not have the same surname. Do you think they will accept his statement of account? He has the money as he is wealthy and his children are schooling abroad. So the money in the account would not be a problem but our different names. I am a single mum for now. I work but my money isn't enough oh. Pls advice me.
This is a tough one. However note below concerns the VO may have;

- You are a single mum, your income isn't very sizable (going by what you said). This does not really represent sufficient ties to Nigeria to make you want to return after delivery.

- Only your husband/partner has the responsibility for catering for you. Your mum's step brother is under no obligation to pay your fees and may as well change his mind. What then happens when he changes his mind? You become stranded and opt for Medicaid?

- What is your travel history?

It is believed by the VO that everyone going to the US does not intend returning, so you must convince them beyond reasonable doubt.

My take:

Be prayerful as your case is quite tight.

Have the sponsor move the money to your account. If possible, he moves Naira to you, convert to USD and put in your dom acct. If it doesn't work out, you can convert back and give him Naira.

Be ready with strong reasons of why you cannot have the baby here in Nigeria.

Be ready to explain your present job function in an interesting way.

Have your burden of proof.

Hopefully you have travel history.

Goodmorning Gurus in the house,

In the struggle to get dollars, my dad has some dollars in his domiciliary account, can I travel with his ATM and withdraw when I get to the States?

Anyone with experience on Dallas POE and accommodation? As I need a proof of accommodation if asked at POE even though I will be staying with a family friend.
Why not open a dom acct in Nigeria and transfer the USD in your dad' to yours b4 heading for the US. This way, you eliminate potential delay/issue at POE. It is better to be safe than sorry.

She is really disturbed and would like to reapply. Our concerns and hoping our sabi mamas here will help us

4. How long do you think she should wait before she re-applies. She is due in March 2017

Really? Do you know the consideration and thought process involved in the citizenship by birth? He cannot just stop it. Lets assume he does, it won't affect others that had theirs prior.

Hello mamas,
Ive been reading this thread for a long time but stopped but now I'm back.

May/June 2017 seems far but i'd like to get your opinion on whether to get a hospital now and sort everything out before may 2017 or wait till around that period.
Also when is the best time to buy the travel ticket (close to departure date or months before)
(intend using hospital in new york or el paso).
I feel you already know what to do. Get all your things sorted very early enough.

[quote author=MumcDab post=50710027]Abeg help me oh.Some people can be really mean, especially inlaws. On my first missionary journey, I stayed with SIL and MIL, it was very bad. i cleaned, cooked and had no life of my own. There were 3 adults in the house and each one would wake up and decide they wanted to eat different meals. As a proper yoruba girl, I did not complain cos I thought it would help me to be stronger, but the one that got me was after I had my baby, before I left She specifically asked me to clean her house before leaving. I cleaned everywhere.

Sorry! I have a question sha- What is your husband's stand in all of this? A husband must stand with his wife in every situation. These things happened cos of your husband. That's my take from your story.

Thank u for the prompt response about my Massachusetts location I have called layhed hospital was told virginal birth 17000 and cs 32000 dollars I almost had an heart attack. Pls the major problem is that I will be travelling with my 30 months daughter and I do not know what to do now. Pls I don't mind an option in Houston an hospital and accommodation for our stay and someone that can help with my daughter while am at at hospital. Also got a cost estimate form at benard hospital in illionois Chicago and has been given a doc dr Charles but no where to stay and no help with my daughter thank u for the help so far
$17,000 and $30,000! Would they give the parents automatic citizenship?!

My advise- Prepare a comprehensive budget sheet with one or two locations. That would give you a fair idea of what the cost would be.

NB: If your money is long enough, u can get a nanny for your daughter. Nannies in Houston cost between $10-$15 per hour, that i know.

My wife is a US green card holder and she want to travel with my 1yr old son to Nigeria. she already got our son his US passport book so I want to know if she will need to acquire Nigeria visa on his US passport book before he can travel back home with her to visit my parents? I want to know if he can get Nigeria passport on arrival or she must get him Nigeria passport before leaving the states? Great mother in the house who have travel to US for child birth and return home should kindly advice on this questions.
It depends on the airline. I actually called Emirates in the US last week if they would allow one fly without a Nigerian Visa as it would be processed upon arrival in Nigeria- they said they don't have an issue so long as I am certain the Visa would be processed upon arrival.

Which ever way, it is better to be safe than sorry. Process the Visa in the US if you can.

tolulope9009:
please, is it only international passport that they accept as ID at the US embassy?
Preparation for a notary appointment

Before you come to the Embassy/Consulate, read your document(s) through carefully and make sure you understand the document(s). If a document is not clear, check with the office or organization requiring the notarized document or your legal advisor. Consular staff cannot explain your document(s) to you.

Know exactly where you are meant to sign. The consular staff cannot advise you in any way on what is required of you for your document so come to the Embassy fully prepared.

Mark every page where the notary needs to sign, with a marker sticker sticking out of the document. Also make clear which pages should be attached to each other, for instance with a paper clip. (not necessary for consent letter as they know what to do)

Fill in the document(s) with the appropriate names, places and dates. However, DO NOT sign your document – you will sign under oath at the Embassy before a Consular Officer.

Bring personal identification, preferably your passport.

Bring the entire document(s), even if only one page is to be notarized.

Notary Services

No appointment is necessary for notarial services in Abuja and Lagos.
Hours of service for Abuja are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m, and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Hours of service for Lagos are Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
