Good afternoon! Thank you so much for your advice especially @purpleribbon and @Demmy2021
Been trying to complete everything as my return is next week. I’ve gotten my baby’s passport. Called them and gave them my flight itinerary and booking reference. They gave me an appointment but also told me that they may hasten the process and so that I might get the passport before I go for the appointment and that was how it happened so I had to cancel the appointment as they asked me to.

@Demmy2021, did you eventually pay for the cvs test? Saw on their site that it’s $139 and also did you pay for the NCDC test? And still did you repeat the test when you got back to Nigeria?
If you did, how much did you pay? Been checking their site for the price and saw nothing

@Purpleribbon, I heard there’s a punishment for those who don’t repeat the test 7 days after return. Do you know?

Please guys I also need some advice. 2 years ago when I came back to Nigeria after having my child, I used visa on arrival and was practically embarrassed at Nigeria when I went to pay for the visa on arrival. They kept claiming that visa on arrival must be paid with a foreign card, bearing the name of the person that needs the VOA

Now, concerning ETC, I don’t know which one to follow. We’re you stopped at the airport to pay again for ETC? Or did they just allow you pass with baby? Do you advice I go through ETC even after getting baby’s passport or what should I do? Just confused coz seems VOA is cheaper and could be paid in Nigeria coz the dollar rate isn’t smiling now because it’ll warrant dollars being sent to me from Nigeria . I need advice

Demmy2021:
What I did was book an appointment with the passport agency. If you have urgent international travel you can do this but appointment is limited. You need to be traveling within 2 weeks to book an appointment. You also need to have your baby travel itinerary. It cost &175 and you get your passport that day
Hi Demmy2021! I have already applied for the passport. Had a walk in with a district county office where my sister did hers. But the issue is after everything, before leaving, I told them my concern about fast tracking the passport and they were like I should call them and tell them about my travel so they can hasten it. Do u think I’ll still need another appointment when I’ve done everything already? I have my tickets ready

Don’t mention mama!

I left three weeks after delivery (this was the earliest I could leave). I wasn’t bothered about time frame because the passport was to be posted to a family member’s house. I didn’t plan to wait for the passport at all. I didn’t call the passport office. At the post office, I just wrote a letter stating that my husband and I need to travel out with the baby as we aren’t US residents and we both signed it. I don’t know if you can call them to hasten the passport (so sorry, I don’t have more info on this). I’d advice you pay for all the fast track and expedited services related to the passport. That’s what I did.
Thank you so much dear! I’ve already applied for the passport! Wanted to call them as adviced by those I did passport with

purpleribbon:
Hi mama.

I booked an appointment to for my COVID test at a CVS pharmacy. This test is free. However you need to book for your test early because the slots close out really fast. The test results would be sent to your email in 24 hours. So if you are traveling on a Saturday, take your test on Thursday, so you can get your result on Friday and travel with it on Saturday. Book your test a week before departure so that you can get a date. All COVID test bookings are online and the tests are carried out by the drive thru windows.

Also you need to register on the Nigerian ncdc website. You don’t have to pay for that as well. Just print out the form that would be sent to your email with the “unpaid” stamp on it. Nobody would send you back.

Ps: this information was valid as at August 2021 please and more specifically for Washing DC’s POE
Thank you so much for this info dear! I truly appreciate!
Pls one more question! How long did you stay after applying for baby’s passport? Did you know you wouldn’t wait for the passport before leaving or you had to leave because of time? Then also pls did you call the passport agency to tell them that you were traveling? I have about 3 weeks to leave and I was advised to call them to hasten the passport

Gathered all the documents listed on the embassy’s website + 150 dollars money order, physically went there to submit and was given a date to return for the ETC. Returned to pick up three days later. No stress, No delays.
Hi purpleribbon! Please how did u go about covid 19 test abi protocol when going back to Nigeria. Did you take a covid 19 test in US or when you got back home?

Thank you so much guys for the suggestions. Immediately I saw we couldn’t get a notary public to swear over the phone, I checked for an appointment, that was on Tuesday and luckily for us I saw 3 spaces remaining for August 26th today at Lagos and since there wasn’t any other day to choose in August, I had to take it and my husband canceled everything and flew to Lagos. He just got it notarized now and would be sending it to me.
Thank you for all your support.

Pls does anyone know how I can go about the ETC so I can use it to enter Nigeria. The last time I used visa on arrival, these people embarrassed me
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by Lochinny: 6:27pm On Aug 23, 2021
Pls does anyone know how if any notary public can sign the forms my husband should fill? Must he go to the embassy? Can he use a US based notary public and swear the oath over the phone?
I’ve been trying to book an appointment for Lagos or Abuja embassy notary services and it’s not going.
Pls I need ur suggestions

Good everyone! I just had my baby! Thank God with me!
Pls I’d like to know how people with their spouses in Nigeria apply for their baby’s US passport especially in this covid era?
I want to know what my husband has to do? Do people still go to the Embassy? Or can any notry public do it?
I want to see if I can start this week since I still have like a little time
Thank you

Hi! Thanks a lot! I was about to turn 33 weeks when I traveled.. I know someone that’s traveled at 36 weeks she used Delta airlines but I don’t know of 37 weeks. Cause airlines have to accept you first then if you already have a doctor willing to take you, then you’re settled there but I’m bothered about airlines but you can browse more to check.. I also think it’s risky to avoid entering labor in the plane

Hello dear. Congrats. I read through and saw where you stated you were almost due when you traveled for the first birth. How far gone where you. So sorry am asking. I have been battling to secure my passport. My visa was granted but not issued because I haven’t got the new passport. Am well over 37 weeks now. Can I still make it out at this point. Am really distraught.

Hello gurus in the house, i have an enquiry. I have a valid B2 visa but my due date is 2weeks after my visa's expiry date. Is it possible to still use this visa for birthing and hope the POE stamps me in for 6months. Do i risk getting banned for future visa applications by following this route if i am leaving the US after the expiry of my visa but before the expiry of my POE Stamped in date. Help a sister with valid information please.
You can go! I went and was stamped in. Though my visa was about 2 weeks to expiry and I told them I was going to have my baby. They didn’t ask Edd or anything and my edd isn’t even close. Yet they stamped me 6months. U’re even lucky to have B2 visa. Mine was B1/B2
I’d suggest you use JFK as I’ve confirmed twice that they are more understanding and also pray about it. It’ll be a smooth experience for you too by God’s grace
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by Lochinny: 5:16am On May 06, 2021
Please also, been searching for an appointment date for my husband but was initially seeing may 2022. Then today I stopped seeing it. Been checking everyday to see if I’ll see a favorable date.
But since today, I’ve been seeing no date available.

Pls has anyone experienced this before?
Does anyone know any means I can get a near date? Pls ur advice and suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by Lochinny: 5:10am On May 06, 2021
Hi guys! Wanted to give my POE experience coz I’ve learnt a lot here and I believe mine would help someone. Sometime in March I told you guys about having a visa that’ll expire in May and that I was thinking of using it to give birth. I was encouraged most especially by @debbieeeeee
and @pointednose to go ahead.. and I actually did.

So here’s my experience:
I traveled with my Child which I gave birth to with the same visa 2 years ago. It wasn’t an easy journey. Went with Qatar airways. (One of the best airline I must say, just that the journey was quite long)
My POE was JFK which I used the previous time. When I got there, I was directed to join the citizens line because of my child. While on the line, a lady saw me and asked me to come forward (obviously a helper from God plus she saw I was pregnant and carrying a child) mind you, I didn’t try to cover it my pregnancy. did same 2 years ago infact I was almost due when I traveled the last time.
So back to my story, I met the POE officer who asked for my passport, he collected my child’s own and asked what I’m here for, I told him to have my 2nd baby. He looked at the computer for a while without saying a word to me, then stamped my child’s passport. Then he collected mine and asked where I was going to stay and asked for how long. I told him the town I was staying and I’m looking at 3months Or more. He now asked if I came with any food stuffs and I told him just spices, he now asked to see my face and I removed my face mask. He then stamped my passport 6 months and said have a nice stay.

From this, I can tell you two things
1) prayer is the key. I and my husband prayed seriously for a smooth Poe. Even told my pastor

2) Be truthful. Just say the truth to them. I learnt it here that being honest pays so when I traveled to have my first child, I told them exactly the same thing, (then I was obviously pregnant so I couldn’t even dare lying) and it was an easy Poe and I used the same JFK.
After hearing people say that 2nd time is always tougher, I got scared and people advised me to cover up since my pregnancy isn’t that obvious but I still couldn’t see myself doing it. I just said what will be will be. I made sure I was with every single receipt from the first one and a letter from the hospital showing I didn’t collect any Medicaid from them. Still they didn’t ask of anything..

These people appreciate honesty and I think if we keep being honest, they’ll start seeing Nigerians in a good way.

Thanks @Debbieeeeee and @PointedNose for the encouragement.

pointednose:
People swear by JFK really.

The gust about scrutiny at JFK is new to me. I have not travelled in a while. Maybe you can ask people who have travelled recently especially those who have travelled for the purpose of birthing.

All the best.
Thank you pointednose! I still went ahead with jfk booking despite what people were saying.. used it in my first baby and by God’s grace it was hitch free

New York o! So far they’ve been the most lenient, please others too can mention lenient POE’s. I myself I intend to route via JFK when I’m ready to travel
Thanks a lot Debbie! I’ve successfully booked for jfk, then would enter a local flight from there

Thank you so much everyone for ur kind advice. I really appreciate. Pls I would appreciate if someone can help suggest a good POE now. I wanted to use JFK which was what I used the last time I traveled to have my baby and by God’s grace, it was a smooth experience. The agent I’m using adviced against it that currently people avoid JFK because they now scrutinize everyone. I’m now confused on what to use.. I have JFK, Dallas Fort Worth and Atlanta as my options. Pls which one do you guys suggest I use? Thank you

This is the best decision.

I know people who have travelled with a B1/B2 visa. Call the airlines to ask specific questions. Dont even try to renew the visa. Just go! All the best.

Lochinny, I think you’ve made the best decision to travel before the visa expires. Please call Delta to find out why there’s no children category which is most likely due to COVID. They may have a no flying children policy this period so even if you book for two adults it still won’t fly. Call them to find out, that way you’re clear on why and what and what you require
Thank you Debbieeee! We later got an agency that helped us get Delta and Qatar airlines. The problem is the POE to choose

Good afternoon everyone and happy Sunday!
Pls I need your help. I want to give birth in US, had my first baby there and my visa is about to expire in May.. with what I’ve been reading, I think it’s better I travel with this visa before it expires. Pls I’ve been trying to book a flight and I’ve been seeing that flights are restricted for people with b1/b2 visa. Pls which airline accepts people with this visa.
Someone suggested Delta but I’m traveling with a child less than 2years and there’s no place on Delta site for under 2 years, means I have to pay for two adults. Pls I need your suggestions and help
