dollarlander: Brother, falling is not a bad thing but pride is the worst things in this life, it causes downfall.
Other things in life can make you fall, eg laziness, others lie against you, bad behaviour and all sort. These ones you can recover by being vindicated or change of attitude. But when pride is involved, you won't know where it is coming from. If everyone is telling you that you are proud you won't still believe you are.
So fall is part of life, it is there to teach us lessons of life and make us a better person. So brother look into the word of God as a mirror, because that's your manual of life if you believe it. So whatever reflection you see there make necessary adjustment where required
You are more experienced now and other Nairalanders that read this will learn from your experience.
You are blessed. If indeed pride made you fall, the same pride will get you back on your feet. |

Filmdirect: Don't believe everything you read. No person on top did not have to do a little something they might not have liked to get there. Not talking about immorality here. You know the show "Shark Tank?" see how the monied people treat the business person. in reality you wouldl not let someone talk down to you because you want their investment, and yes if it is abusive you should be a stop to it, but honestly unless than, you keep quiet and bid your time, knowing that one day you will use their resources to become greater. Honestly the problem with you guys is you always assume other societies run like your Nigerian eye service driven culture. The truth is, with his personality type Bill Gates would've found it difficult to make it in the Nigerian space. He had very little patience and he was a rich kid (millionaire parents. He never worked for anybody. |

elomez: but do u know the errands and demeaning things these men you just stated their names have seen in their lives before becoming the great men they are today? All i see in this guy is just Ego. Sorry to burst your bubble; Bill Gates and Warren Buffet never carried anybody's bag and will NEVER (especially Bill) carry anybody's bag. They worked their way up through hard work, dedication, intelligence (astuteness) and timing. The examples that may fit your post may be Nigerian "Big Men". Americans (especially those that are self-made) will not carry anybody's bag. The main thing we should note here is: if you are not made to own a business, please by all means continue carrying bags. But if you feel you have what it takes to run a business of your own, then by all means give the finger and go start your own gig. |

In Nigeria It's called deception. You feign injury (in this case). All of a sudden, you've developed a pain in your shoulder. Then you apologize for not being able to help her. |

October1960: You did the right thing. Getting fired might be a blessing in disguise.
We have to learn to fight this evil system of 'Ogas' with impunity in Nigeria else things will not change.
If you were a woman must you also swallow your pride and sleep with a male boss??
My friend, I was fired over a decade ago and started my own business. I thank God now that I was fired.
It is the beginning of good things to come, so start your own firm small, take it slow and steady and you will compete with them. Exactly. The truth is, the people who would rather carry oga's bag than be fired cannot own a business; they were born to be employees. They were born to be followers. Those are the ones you see jostling for positions in a company for 40 years. Getting fired is a good thing if you were made to own a business. The fire goes right into your belly (if you know what I mean). Let the bag carriers continue carrying bags; you will eventually run the mediocre bunch out of business. |

duni04: People like you don't go far. Nobody likes someone who everyone can trample on, someone that has no dignity and self worth. If you find nothing wrong with carrying the handbag of your contemporary, and a woman! Then you ain't going far in life. Gbagbe! Dude you got in backwards. In proper societies, your assertion is correct; in Nigeria (where mediocrity is king), the reverse is the reality. |

arimahoseloka: let me just say my experience although it was a long time ago. I was in a taxi going travelling 2 my school. there was this lady sitting next to me. she didn't wear bra and her top was handless. men, I no no wetin enter my head o. I start to dey use style dey touch with my left hand, I folded my hands in a way that it would appear am just folding my hands but I was trying to reach her boobs.
I did!! at first omo see fear, but I noticed the lady didn't budge at all. I instinctively knew she knows what am doing, in my craziness I carry my full hand put inside her handless top. remember she wasn't wearing bra. she even bent her body to conceal what's happening so other passengers don't notice. I also noticed while it was happening she would look straight into my face to know maybe who this crazy guy is. and probably if am worth taking the risk for.
the journey sweet o. when I reach my destination I came down and left I didn't say a word to her. Most ashana will not complain if you do this; it's an opportunity for business. Next time you try that and when you wan vamoose, she grab you say you must pay, the embarrassment go clear your eyes. |

EmpressDiva: the people saying the girl should not collect gifts are guys. What is wrong in giving a gift or helping a fellow human? Does it mean when gifts are given, you have to expect something in return? No. If you expect something in return or paying for a service, communicatte it immediately. It seems many of you guys always lure women with worthless gifts thinking we can be swayed by that, you get it wrong. You people make it seem we can no longer be human and have healthy relationships and friendships with the opposite sex. Anyways, if you think you have been getting away with rape through threats and your petty gifts, everyday is not christmas and I assure you desist from that act now and seek help for your addictive and insatiable lust cos very soon you will meet your waterloo and you might even end up dead because we will defend ourselves . Save the epistle. I don't know the family you come from, but part of good upbringing is to reject gifts especially from men with whom you do not have any kind of relationship (meaning not a relative, boyfriend or husband). Maybe where you come from, 16 year old girls normally collect gifts from older men (without realizing it is a poisoned chalice/Greek Gift). Well brought up girls and women know these things. |

abeyakanni: This report is not the true story. The girl is 16 years old and bought d phone from the guy. It was not a gift. I only wish d barber who said they were dating would come to court and testify, including d landlord. This is a case of child abuse / rape turned murder. The girl has escaped death and/or being marred for life. I call on all women/ child abuse parastatals to Luk into dis matter And this is the true story? So the 16 year old bought the phone (let's forget the type of phone first to know whether to ask where she got the money from). The same barber you refer to has confirmed she was fond of collecting gifts from the guy. Or you no sabi read? Yes, the man has died and deserved it (being played for a maga does not justify attempted rape), but she too should suffer the consequences of her *longerthroat*. |
