In a press statement on their stands in postponement of the 2019 general elections and other burning issues, signed by the kaduna CAN chairman, Rev. John Joseph Hayab and made available to TraceReporter said government statement was made to look like a breaking news, which is “false in its entirety “. According to the Press statement, “We woke up today with the news of the postponement of the general elections earlier slated for today 16/2/2019, this news came to us very few hours to voting time. This is saddening, it is disapointing and frustrating. The question in the air is “why now”? CAN Kaduna State wish to register the fact that she is aware of challenges that may be encountered and we expect that INEC should have been aware that challenges will come and should have plan against some of this challenges in advance. THE ISSUES “The statement of the postponement reads in part, ” Following a careful review of the implementation of its logistics and operation plan and the determination to conduct a free, fair and credible elections, the commission came to the conclusion that proceeding with the elections as schedule is no longer feasible.” This to us is a clear poor management of logistics. Looking at the fact that this information came at the last hour, a time when the Ad-hoc staff, electoral observers, security personnels have been deployed. Worst so is the fact that it came after many citizens have had to travel long distances with most taking the risk of traveling late to their various towns and villages of registrations. We wonder why INEC should wait until about 2:00am to make the postponement. Isn’t it shameful for us to say this type of postponement has ever happened. Are we saying we are not growing or are celebrating mistakes of over 8 years ago as an achievement? This is unacceptable in this century. “Let it be recalled that at many instances in the past INEC have debunk the rumors that she was going to postponed the elections, INEC in those instance sounded loud and clear that she have deployed most of the materials leaving only the highly sensitive materials. Bringing this to the fore makes one wonder the rationale behind INEC’s delay on reviewing her implementation of logistics and operational plans only late yesterday 15/2/2019. “We appreciate the United States of America (USA), the European Union (EU) and the international community for the interest and efforts at ensuring that Nigeria conduct a free, fair and peaceful general elections. “CAN Kaduna State also wish to debunk the false alarm raised about killing in Kaduna State which have been made to look like a breaking news. The press statement by Mr Samuel Aruwan, the spokesman of the Governor of Kaduna state suggests that “the killings in Kajuru Local Government was committed yesterday 15/2/2019. This is false in its entirety. We are aware that the incident happened in the late hours of Sunday 10 February to 12th February, 2019, at about 1:00am at Gindin Gada, Maro Ward of Kajuru Local Government in Kaduna State where unidentified hoodlums went into the village and killed about 11 people in their sleep. Which lead to reprisals .Two of the suspects were said to have been apprehended and handed over to the Divisional Police. It was on the afternoon of the said date of the attack (as contained in the press statement) that the District Head of Kufana, Mr Titus Dauda, and four of his local chiefs were released after their invitation by the DSS State Command on the issue. We see this as an illogical intentional, premeditated attempt at steering violence in the state for whatever expected gains. “It is disheartening that the media that supposed to be objective and the true mirror of the society has rather chosen to bow to pea nuts against her code of ethics. OUR PRAYERS “We call on INEC to be more serious about proper management of her logistics and operational plans. CAN Kaduna Sate here also call on INEC and Government to the fact that the world is watching us. We must not give our citizens and the world the impression that we are not serious or that we cannot be trusted. “INEC should also ensure that given the circumstances all electoral officers that were already deployed ahead of the proposed elections today are safely conveyed back to their destination, strick security should be provided at places where materials have been stored in the various state and Local Government Areas. “We call on US, EU and the international community to strictly ensure that the travel ban earlier annouced as purnishment to the enemies of democracy and elections riggers is sustained and implemented without compromise. We equally plead with these international bodies never to be tired nor discouraged from playing her part to the success of a credible elections in Nigeria. “The incidence of raising false alarm by the Kaduna State Government should make Nigerians realized that some of our leaders are also guilty of hate speech themselves and that makes them major actors in the game that have denied us peace and have claimed the lives of our love ones. We call on the general public to treat with disregard the press statement from the office of the Kaduna State Governor and to note that should Kaduna State experience any bridge of security before, during and after the general elections we shall hold the Kaduna State as responsible. “We call on our media to grow above the temptations that water down our trust in them, the media houses must not allow themselves to be bought over but be objective and honest in their reportage. BY WAY OF CONCLUSION “We are appealing to our members to be peaceful and patient with what has happened. We call on all to be willing and ready to make additional sacrifices to travel next week to cast their votes so that only the right leaders get to steer the affairs of the nation in the next four years. “May God, in whose hand the heart of the king stands take charge the Nigerian state and guide us through it all. We must tell ourselves the truth and accept the truth about Nigeria if we must get the country out of the dungeon. The quagmire is not that of APC or PDP, Jonathan or Buhari. We are in a systemic, institutional, moral and social mess. This whole mess started/progressed from the point of change of guard from the colonial masters to the fathers of the nation. Nigeria was birthed in the pen of corruption and it started it’s life from there. Nobody said and/or did anything about the corrupt seedlings rooted around the foundation. Official malfeasance in high public office was treated with levity and impunity, and it grew. High public officials continued to depredate national wealth for personal/family benefits. Hear this: If corrupt practices are not seen to be adequately punished, and those involved seen to be jailed and deprived of their loots, then Nigeria will eventually become “dysgenic”. Indeed, Nigeria is already in a dystopian state of existence. The time is ripe for all true progressive forces synergize their capacities and lay siege on all those that enriched themselves and families with public wealth. However, the fundamental/continuous drive of all true progressive groups should line up with the posit of Simon Johnson which states that, “Countries rise when they put in place the right pro-growth political institutions which must ensure they don’t fail to adapt or resist ossification”. https://tracereport.com.ng/2018/12/28/sdp-2019-g19-response-to-chief-olu-falae-press-statement/ STATEMENT BY G19, (PROF. JERRY GANA PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN TEAM), IN RESPONSE TO THE PRESS STATEMENT REPORTEDLY ISSUED BY THE NATIONAL CHAIRMAN OF SDP, CHIEF OLU FALAE. Arising from the numerous enquiries and calls from esteemed Party supporters and concerned members of the public from within and outside Nigeria, we are constrained to respond to the Press Statement reportedly issued by the National Chairman of SDP. We have waited for any denial of the authorship of the said statement, especially in the light of earlier directive of the National Chairman that only Prof Tunde Adeniran is authorised to issue further statements on the matter under reference. Following an FCT High Court Judgment of 14th December 2018 in favour of Prof. Jerry Gana as the 2019 Presidential Candidate of the SDP, and in the spirit of our avowed commitment to Party Constitution, Prof. Gana wrote the National Chaiman on December 17th to inform him of the judgment and sought audience on December 19th to brief the National Working Committee (NWC) on the agenda and roadmap of his campaign thrust. The National Chairman through the Deputy National Chairman South, Prof. Tunde Adeniran responded on December 18, conveying his inability to be in Abuja as requested. On December 19, Prof Gana personally submitted his nomination form to the Party which was received by the Deputy National Chairman (North) Dr Abdul Isiaq and other members of the NWC on behalf of the Party; for onward transmission to INEC in line with the court Judgment and Order. Dr Isiaq announced at the public occasion that the Party will obey the court order. To our surprise, we understand that the National Chairman at the last minute instructed the Party not to proceed with the form to INEC, which is a flagrant disobedience to the court judgment. After waiting for about 10 days without any information from the National Chairman on moving forward, and being under tremendous pressure to commence campaigns in the light of limited available time, Prof Gana wrote a second letter dated December 27 notifying the National Chairman of his intention to unveil his campaign vision to the Media on December 29 2018 and meet with Stakeholders on January 5, 2019. While expecting the National Chairman’s response to the letter, our attention was this afternoon drawn to a Press Statement reportedly issued by the National Chairman, Chief Olu Falae on the subject matter of our letter, even to the extent of threatening Party members not to attend the events. To say the least, we are shocked at the National Chairman’s sudden shift of position, after making commitment to both our Candidate and other legitimate stakeholders, that as Social Democrats he and by extension, the Party, are obliged to obey the court judgment and orders; and would expectedly work with the position of the court. For the avoidance of doubt, the reliefs granted in consequence of our case by the FCT High Court are all DECLARATORY, which could ONLY be vitiated by a contrary judgment of an appeal court. It speaks volumes that our National Chairman would prefer an Appeal process, yet to commence and determined, in total disregard to a subsisting valid judgment and order by a court of competent jurisdiction. We have consulted with other leaders of the Party who represent about 90% of both the National Working Committee and National Executive Committee of the Party, and arrived at the conclusion that the views of the National Chairman are not in tandem with the majority. For record purposes and ensuring that Party members are well informed of the facts, may it be known that up till the last time I checked before issuing this statement, Prof. Jerry Gana has not been served of any Court of Appeal process, and as such have not engaged any counsel to prosecute any imaginary appeal on his behalf. How does one engage a Counsel for an appeal matter that is not before him or is a counsel forced on him without an option of choice? Furthermore, we observe from the said Press Statement that the National Chairman, who ought to be an unbiased father to all Party members, has descended into the arena and become highly sectional in determining to ignore a subsisting court order for an imaginary appeal process yet to be started. It is sad that our National Chairman who is to teach us as Social Democrats to respect the rule of law is now leading the way towards deliberately breaking the Law, tendentiously for a contempt of court. With utmost respect, I wish to state unequivocally as the Director General of G19, that we will rather stand with the Rule of Law, which is a cardinal element of our campaign thrust and our great Party, the SDP. Accordingly, the Gana Presidential Campaign train is set to leave the station tomorrow December 29, and will run SWIFTLY to redeem the time and arrive its destination successfully and unhindered. Therefore, all the media organizations and guests invited to the Media Presentation are joyfully expected to be at Ladi Kwali Conference Centre, Sheraton Hotel and Towers Abuja by 11.30am. By the Grace of God, we are prepared to win our election and help other serious candidates of the Party to win their elections as well. We did not seek the Party tickets to become merchants, traders and transationalists, we are too serious a community of people to engage in such. By the grace of God, we are running the race to win and determined to secure resounding victories for the Party. Finally, considering the unmitigated embarrassment and sliding fortunes of the Party in the last three months, I wonder if it is not time for the majority Party faithfuls who love the Party to arise and rescue her from the tyranny of the minority who have received a mandate from outside of the Party hierarchy to muscle and cage the elegant stallion. We wish our numerous supporters and Partners, as well as genuine and patriotic party men and women, compliments of this season and prosperous 2019. May we all embrace the SWIFT re-engineering of our nation towards Reworking Nigeria Together. Morning will yet come on creation day. God bless the SDP! God bless Nigeria. Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila does not deserve to stay in office longer than 24 hours* ABUJA… .The disorderliness that pervaded President Muhammadu Buhari’s presentation of the 2019 budget at the joint session of the National Assembly on the 19th December was not only a sham, dishonour and charade for President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC as a ruling party, but a national disgrace and insult perpetrated by the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammad Buhari on National Assembly Matters (Reps), Hon Abdulraman Kawu Sumaila on the national psyche. The president of Nigerian Solidarity Youths (NSY), Comrade Igniware Julius (Esq.) said this in a statement after the rowdy session of the National Assembly members at the presentation of the 2019 budget by the president on Wednesday. Comrade Julius said that the immaturity and brazen display of rowdiness by Representatives of Nigerians at National Assembly attested that the Nigerian electorates are only wasting resources keeping the Federal lawmakers at nation’s capital but not representing their interest. He added that at this of global technological advancement that world is watching, it was sad that Federal lawmakers could put up sordid acts before the glare lights of local and foreign camera of newsmen. He particularly called on the president to remove the Senior Special Assistant to the president on National Assembly Matters (Reps), Hon Abdulraman Kawu Sumaila from office without further delay for disloyalty, insubordination and incompetence. The NSY president further said that while it could be true that all the senators present at the occasion may not like the president, but there was calmness and maturity because Hon Kawu’s colleague on the job, Senator Ita Enang was able to ensure that there was orderliness as against Kawu’s display of insubordination. Julius said that Hon Kawu does not deserve to stay in office longer than 24 hours after his act of defiance. He further called on the Nigerian electorates to be mindful of whom to elect as their representatives as the 2019 election is around the corner the joint session of

https://tracereport.com.ng/2018/11/17/full-list-of-the-amount-each-governors-earn-in-nigeria/ POLITICS – Latest report as contrary to the claim by Governor Kayode Fayemi that governors in Nigeria earn N500, 000 per month, the official monetised salary of a governor in the country is actually N648,580.62, findings from an investigation have shown. Fayemi had said that professors in Nigerian universities earned as much as he earned, and that, in some cases, they earned more than him on a monthly basis. He said that as a governor, he earned N500,000 monthly salary, arguing that a professor sometimes earned more than that. The governor berated Nigerian academic for allegedly not taking advantage of certain opportunities which, he said, he was privy to. However, a document, Remuneration Package of Political, Public and Judicial Office Holders, obtained from the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission by our correspondent in Abuja on Thursday, showed that there were other allowances which the governor was entitled to. While a few of the allowances are paid periodically, there are others that are not monetised which the state provides fully, according to the preference of the governor. The governor’s monthly salary is made up of three items – basic salary, hardship allowance and constituency allowance. According to RMAFC’s document, a governor is entitled to a monthly basic salary of N185,306.75. He is entitled to a monthly hardship allowance of N92,654.37 and monthly consistency allowance of N648,580.62. These add up to a monthly salary of N648, 580.62 or an annual sum of N7, 782,967.50. Other allowances of the governor that are not part of the monthly emoluments are 10 per cent leave allowance which amounts to N222,370.50 per annum. Should a governor so desire, he is entitled to 400 per cent Motor Vehicle Loan which amounts to N8,894,820. When a governor completes his tenure, he is entitled to 300 per cent severance allowance, which amounts to N6,671,115. This is apart from what is provided by each state as pension and gratuity. However, the majority of the allowances that a governor is entitled to are not monetised. This means that the state makes full provision for such items – to the taste of the governor. Such allowances include the following: Motor vehicle fuelling and maintenance, special assistant, personal assistant, domestic staff, entertainment, utilities, security, and newspapers/periodicals. Other allowances that are fully provided by the state for the governor are accommodation, furniture, duty tour allowance, estacode and medical. According to the document, the annualised salary and allowances of the President is N14,058,820 while that of the Vice-President is N12,126,290. For a senator, the salary and allowances add up to N20, 669,280 per annum. Those of a member of the House of Representatives add up to N17, 271,347.75. For a minister, the salary and allowances add up to N14,705,164, while those of presidential aides add up to N14, 085,843.75. On the face value, therefore, it appears that even the aides appointed to serve both the President and the Vice-President earn higher than these two key officials of the state. However, the reason is that while most of the allowances of lawmakers, senators and presidential aides are monetised, the allowances that are supposed to be earned by the President and the VP are provided by the state – without any limit, just like the governor. Apart from the salary, the regular allowances that are monetised for the President are only hardship allowance, N1, 757,350.50 per annum; and consistency allowance, N8, 786,762:50 per annum. For the Vice-President, the hardship allowance is N1, 515,786:25 per annum, while the consistency allowance is N7, 578,931:25 per annum. The irregular allowances for the President are the severance allowance – 300 per cent of the annual salary or N10, 544,115 – and leave allowance – 10 per cent of the annual salary or N351, 470:50. The irregular allowances of the vice-president are the severance allowance – 300 per cent of the annual salary or N9, 094,717:50 – and leave allowance – 10 per cent of the annual salary or N303, 157:25. Other allowances that the President and the Vice-President are supposed to enjoy which are not provided in monetary terms include motor vehicle fuelling and maintenance, special assistant, and personal assistant. Others are domestic staff, entertainment, utilities, security and newspapers/periodical allowances. These irregular allowances include accommodation, furniture, duty tour, estacode, medical, and severance/gratuity. Two other officials of the state whose most allowances are not monetised but provided for by the state are the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives. In the states, governors and Speakers of the State Houses of Assembly enjoy similar privileges. These items, which are supposed to constitute allowances for the President and the VP are to be fully provided for these key office holders by the state according to the Remuneration Package of Political, Public and Judicial Office Holders prepared by the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission and passed into law in 2007 by the National Assembly. The country’s annual budgets give an indication of how much the nation spends on the items required by the President. Following the outcry of citizens for a downward review of the emoluments of political office holders as a result of dwindling oil earnings of the country, President Muhammadu Buhari had in 2015 directed RMAFC to review the emoluments. The work of the agency which was concluded in 2016 came to nothing as the President could not act on the report which was submitted to his office.

https://tracereport.com.ng/2018/11/13/sdp-will-spring-surprises-in-2019-elections/ The Social Democractic Party(SDP) will surprise the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) with landslide victory in the Presidential and National Assembly elections, come 2019 . Nigerians are tired of the failed APC- led Federal Goverment which has not only impoverished the masses but plunged the economy of the country into it’s present state which has driven away potential foriegn investors, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Alfa Mohammed said in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja. “The interest and agenda of all Nigerians in 2019 is to sack the failed APC Government and entrench an SDP-led Federal Government that will drive the desired positive change, ” he said. Mohammed said Nigerians are tired of a government which has failed woefully in providing security for it’s citizens, and pretends to be leading an anti- corruption crusade, yet deeply engrained in corrupt practices. “How can the APC goverment explain the statement by it’s Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed last week that the Federal Goverment spends N3.5m monthly to feed the detained leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria(IMN), El-Zakzaky and his wife while the Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Danbazzau confirmed recently that the same government spends N14,000 daily to feed each prisoner? This is further confirmation of the extent of the unimaginable corruption being pepetrated by this goverment. “The implication of this is that, if summed up, averagely, it cost the Federal Government N420,000 to feed each each prisioner monthly. “This figure is far below the N3.5m the APC Government claims it is spending to feed the leader of the Shiite group and his wife monthly. “It is rather very ironical that the APC Government can afford to engage in wasteful spending , yet can not afford to pay it’s loyal civil servants a paltry sum of N30, 000 minimum wage they are demanding for. “Nigerians are tired of the lies and deception and will not hestitate to vote SDP which stands for Equity, Justice and Fairness into power in 2019. A party that is youth and women friendly and have zero tolerance for corruption. “A party like the SDP which is committed to the welfare and well being of the masses is what Nigerians are looking for at this time to end all the impunity, gross abuse of due process and massive corruption ravaging this country to revamp the economy,” he said. The National Publicity Secretary said the SDP has provided Nigerians with the best candidate for Presidency in the 2019 election. According to him, the APC and PDP party’s presidential candidates are no match to the former Governor of Cross Rivers, Donald Duke who, he described as young, vibrant, energetic, purposeful, result oriented, a visionary leader who is full of results. “Our set of candidates across the country are all that Nigerians as a whole need in this critical time”. Alfa explained that a vote for Donald Duke in the forthcoming election is a vote for victory and liberation of the country from backwardness, poverty, unemployment, corruption and what have you. Duke according to him is the best candidate to right the wrongs of the failure of the APC Federal Government. “PDP is not the next option for Nigerians either because the party laid the bad foundation which the APC government has capitalised on to further cause more havoc to this country”. “SDP is the only party that can save Nigerians from the malady that they are in presently. The leadership of the party will remain resolute and continue to work tenaciously and relentlessly to ensure victory in 2019,”the National Publicity Secretary added. |

https://tracereport.com.ng/2018/10/23/unicef-kano-govt-invest-n700m-to-fight-malnutrition-as-dangote-injects-n1b/ As part of measures to eradicate malnutrition among children under the age of five years in Kano state, the state government and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), are injecting over seven hundred million naira in 2018. Kano state government in collaboration with UNICEF had in 2017 spent the sum of N350 Million last year, as intervention against malnutrition amongst children under five years, which UNICEF provided the same amount as marching fund. Another sum of N338 Million is also injected this year to counter the disturbing scourge of malnutrition in the state, of which UNICEF promises to also provide another marching fund for the same purpose. The state governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje disclosed this during an official launching of Kano State Comprehensive Modelling Project on Improvement of Diatery Diversity in Kano State, the first project of its kind in the country, at Africa House, Government House, Kano, Monday. According to him, “we have all the kinds of food we need in our society for our consumption. All we need to do to run away from this health problem, is the knowledge of how to use such varieties. Which necessitates for awareness creation among our people.” He urged all other stakeholders to join hands with government to save the situation, sayimg, “government is doing its best to continue liaising with all stakeholders, particularly our traditional leaders, development partners and others, so that we can checkmate the problem once and for all.” Ganduje acknowledges that, “this problem is with us, it is within us, it is a problem that we can solve and we must solve it. That is why we need to put heads and hands together and fight the painful scourge of malnutrition. All we need is commitment, persistence, public enlightenment and diligence.” The governor called for desired commitment and proper education on the problem, insisting that, “we must make sure that whatever development partners come up with, we take it and internalise it. Just in case they park and go, we must find ways to assure sustainability.” Dangote Foundation according to the governor promised to provide the sum of over N1 Billion as intervention along that area of curbing malnutrition in the state. In her remarks the UNICEF Zonal Officer, Katsina, Miss Zohra Nissi, said the choice of Kano for the project was deliberate, looking at the efforts the state is making these years in curbing the disease. She added “This is a unique project which we are starting in Kano. As such the choice of Kano is deliberate. We choose Kano also because of the commitment of the state.” Nissi revealed that, “We need multi-sectoral approach in dealing with this problem. The sum injected in this project is $750,000. https://tracereport.com.ng/2018/10/22/kaduna-my-mission-is-to-offer-quality-representation-uba-sani/ **Change the condition of the people of Kaduna Central Senatorial District** **Says Meaningless fight against the Party and Governor El- Rufai administration is a case of back stabbing** **Promised to Restore the lost glory of our Constituency** By Lola Seriki- Idahosa, Kaduna, North-West, Nigeria … All Progressive Party (APC) flagbearer, Kaduna Central Senatorial District Dr. Una Sani has said that he will not rest until he restore the lost glory of Kaduna Central constituency, saying, ‘My mission is to offer quality representation and deploy my energies towards attracting projects and investments that would positively change the condition of my people and the face of the constituency’. In what is his very first major media outing throughout the prolonged war in the APC for the ticket for Kaduna Central senatorial seat, Uba Sani engaged an interactive section with the press in a triumphant interaction Sunday evening, commending the APC National leadership for upholding standard democratic practice. During the session Dr. Uba Sani disclosed that he has always felt greatly inspired by the ability of the Adams Oshiomhole-led APC to remain steadfast on the side of “truth, justice and fairness at all times, not minding whose ox is gored”. He express satisfaction over the current democratic dispensation, describing it as the reward for the sacrifice made in sending the military back to the barracks and the enthronement of democracy in today’s Nigeria. Malam Uba also provided clear clarifications on many thorny issues regarding developments in the Kaduna State APC which the media had wanted to find an opportunity to take him on. He bared his minds on contestants that the party had helped in 2015 to achieve victory, only for them to indulge in “meaningless fight against the party and the Elrufai administration in a clear case of back-stabbing.” He also explained why he refused to be drawn into media propaganda on the court order he obtained to halt the APC primaries, saying, ” I was not bothered by the empty lies designed to distract me. In fact all the while I slept like a baby.” Dr.Uba Sani, clearly responded to general questions on the politics of Kaduna State, the efforts of the national leadership of the party and President Muhammad Buhari in sticking to the Rule of Law and upholding justice and fairness by giving a listening ear to grievances of members and stakeholders. “I have therefore been consistent in my belief that the APC is a party of Nigerians who are truly conscious of their responsibility to the people. They have demonstrated commitment to justice and balance”. He expressed appreciation to the delegates, other stakeholders and the media for their support during his most challenging moments. “l would like to thank our esteemed delegates, supporters, sympathizers, members of the indomitable Uba Sani Campaign Organization and the good people of Kaduna Central Senatorial District for their unflinching support in the long drawn battle for the ticket to fly our party’s flag in the 2019 senatorial elections. “Despite the uncertainty and desperate scheming that attended the entire primary election process, you never wavered. You stood firm and undeterred. That is the stuff of true democrats and patriots. “As you are already aware, the National Working Committee (NWC) of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday, 18th October 2018 submitted my name to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the validly elected candidate to represent the party in the 2019 senatorial elections in Kaduna Central District. This decision was the final seal to a most rigorous and hard fought primary election. I give all glory and thanks to the Almighty God for seeing us through. “I therefore owe you all an immense debt of gratitude for putting your trust in me. I pledge not to betray your faith and confidence in me. Your kind gesture would be reciprocated in the best way possible. My commitment is total,” Uba said in a written preamble distributed to the press at the onset. He vowed never never to rest until the long suffering people of Kaduna Central Senatorial District get a new lease of life. “But I must remind us that the job is only half done. I call on our people to brace up for the all-important 2019 electoral battle. Despite our party’s popularity and the momentum that my candidacy has gathered, we must never underrate the opposition parties. We must fashion effective strategies and comprehensive plans that would ensure our total victory at the polls. For this to be possible all hands must be on deck. We must approach the elections as a united front,” he said.

https://tracereport.com.ng/2018/10/22/gombe-primaries-fall-out-sdp-woos-aggrieved-apc-chieftains/ The political terrain in Nigeria is hardly a safe place to bruise egos, exhibit rudeness or disrespect elders, for it leads only one way, and that is political decline and ruination. That is the hard lesson Danjuma Goje, former two term PDP governor of Gombe State has found out rather too late. Goje must have thought that he was setting up his own political dynasty as a godfather in the Jewel of the Savannah when he personally imposed through underhanded ways, his Commissioner for Finance for almost eight years, Inuwa Yahaya as the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC. Practically all political godfathers do that in the hope that they can get away with it. Unfortunately for the All Progressives Congress, APC in Gombe State, It doesn’t really matter that Danjuma Goje, former PDP two term governor of the north eastern state is the undisputed APC chieftain. The Buhari factor helped in no small measure anyway, to encourage him to cross the carpet for the obvious advantage of being free from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC worries. That kind of position of strength was what led to the political arrogance of Danjuma Goje in the imposition of Inuwa Yahaya who lost the same contest in 2015. The imposition angered the rest APC gubernatorial aspirants that lost the primaries in the just concluded Party primaries that included stalwarts like Habu Mu’azu, Mohammed Danbarde Barr. Idris Hinna, Ibrahim Dasuki Jalo Waziri, Umaru Kwairanga (Sarkin Fulani), Faruk Bamusa Aliyu Haidar and Khamisu Mailantarki. Therefore as soon as Goje’s former Chief of Staff, ‘brainbox’ and political Mr. Fix-it while he (Danjuma Goje) was governor, Chikere Kumo, angrily quit the APC to pitch his tent with the Social Democratic Party, SDP, weighing of options became a serious contention for the former aspirants of the party’s ticket. Suddenly, many of the former aspirants started to quit the APC and are on their way to joining the Social Democratic Party, SDP. Their plan to leave the APC for the SDP is because of their firm belief that Inuwa Yahaya would simply fail to make it in 2019 because of his unpopularity in Gombe due to his failure to contribute a dime to the development of Gombe State. Inuwa Yahaya comes from money. His father is reputed to have been a very wealthy man. That made him attractive as an asset to Danjuma Goje. But Inuwa Yahaya’s serious drawbacks include the fact that throughout his almost eight years as Gombe State Commissioner for Finance, there’s no record of him providing at least a borehole in his Jekadafari ward in Gombe local government. Neither did he build a block of classrooms, things that would ordinarily impress, politically. The aspirants see Inuwa Yahaya contesting again for the 2019 gubernatorial election as a reinforcement of political failure. Perhaps Goje just doesn’t get it. Picking a candidate who has all his family investments and fortune in far away North Western State of Kano is beginning to bore the multifarious tribes of Gombe State. Sen. Goje would have to make a better decision by choosing from the most powerful ones like Alh. Habu Mu’azu, Faruq Bamusa, Muhammadu Danbarde or even Barr. Idris Hinna. With the APC chain of events culminating in Danjuma Goje’s backing of Inuwa Yahaya said to have his origins in Jigawa State, political watchers say decline has set in for the former governor. As Chikere Kumo’s SDP continues to wax stronger, the APC continues to empty, and Goje continues to regret his backing of Inuwa Yahaya that has led to the exit of his former backers and associates. Meanwhile the SDP has continued to woo the former APC aspirants to come over . Political analysts in Gombe spoken to by our Correspondent say that with the departure of Chikere Kumo from the APC, Inuwa Yahaya can only win his Jekadafari ward. This may turn out to be the worst outing for the APC in Gombe State which is now no.3, after the PDP and the SDP.

According to him, “We are happy to receive you here in this town. We are now having much problem as the state government is doing a lot to improve the lives of our people especially in the area of Education and Health, As we speak, the only PHC we have is very small with few nurses which is not enough to certal for the Local Government ” The Emir who was worried about the size of the hospital, the bad roads, the collapsed bridge that have cut off about ten communities from the Local Government, also appealed to the state government to look into the issue of their collapse bridge that collapsed two months ago. According to The Emir “Only few of Our children goes to school although in the past we have security challenges but that too has reduced drastically due to the measures taken by the government and security agencies, I appealed to people in the local government to embrace peace so as to move the area forward. Speaking with some women in the area, Aisha Sabitu 30 year old housewife said she has been married for 18 years and gave birth to 7 children. Two of her children were delivered at home because labour started in the night and they are twins. According to her, ” we do go for ante natal care during pregnancy period. Women in this village take it serious because of its importance. ” the children I gave birth at home happened at night so there was no way I will be rushed to hospital. We need hospital in this town because the only facility closed to the Local government secretariat is not enough looking at our population Another Housewife Rabi Mohammed 35 years explained, “We need hospital in this village because out of my six children 3 were delivered at home and 3 at hospital. Personally I prefer to deliver at home even though I make sure I attend antenatal care. During antenatal we are taught how to take care of ourselves and also the unborn baby. Why some women don’t like going for antenatal was due to our bad road and so we are appealing to government to help us. Hassana Saidu 45 years old TBS in the community said personally she gave birth to eight children. 7 were delivered at home and one at hospital. After I realize women in this village faced lot of challenges during childbirth I decided to help. Now for the past five years I helped women to deliver their babies safely. We are being trained by some of the health workers at the clinic on how to assist pregnant women. Years back we lost so many women in this village during childbirths but that has reduced now because it has been years we have not lost any woman to childbirth in this village and we thank God for that. Hadiza lukman gave birth through CS after she was rushed to hospital and the workers were not on duty. ” I almost lost my life because I was in labour and the health workers were not on duty. That was around 8 am that very day. So, I was rushed to another PHC located in another village. For more details, kindly click on the link above..

Upon Shehu Sani’s resolve to remain in the APC after assurances of automatic tickets by the party headquarters for senators who refused to defect PDP, Mr El-Rufai said the senator must apologize to people of the state for playing a role in quashing the loan request before they reverse his suspension from the party. We gathered that APC’s disqualification of many aspirants has sparked protests and public outcry, with nine governors visiting President Muhammadu Buhari to lodge complaint on Thursday. |
