https://cdn.dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Nnamdi-Kanu.jpg?fbe18f Former militants of the Niger Delta have threatened to declare war on Nigerian government if the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and director of radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu is not released with immediate effect. The former militants under the aegis of Niger Delta Peoples Democratic Front (NDPDF) issued the threat at the weekend in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital. The leader of the group, Precious Iyoyo (aka General Playboy) warned President Muhammadu Buhari to free Kanu without delay, in order to reduce the growing tension in the country. According to him, the continued detention of Kanu after a competent court had granted him bail was provocative and dictatorial. He also demanded the immediate pullout of the military personnel drafted to Niger Bridge in Onitsha, Anambra state, to allow free flow of traffic for the “innocent citizens of South- South and South East.” “The Nigerian government is dangerously pushing us to the wall. The unprovoked mass shooting and killing of our brothers and sisters will no longer be tolerated,” he said. The NDPDF leader promised that his group would support and sustain the Biafra agitation, and called those from the two regions who were sabotaging the struggle to have a change of mind and join the struggle. http://dailypost.ng/2016/01/05/biafra-ex-militants-threaten-war-if-nnamdi-kanu-is-not-released/ |

https://cdn.dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/arase1.jpg?fbe18f The Police has debunked media reports that the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase had banned men and officers of the force from checking mobile phones of Nigerians under any guise. A viral report on Tuesday afternoon had claimed that a circular had been sent to all police commands in the country to adhere strictly to the IG’S order. But speaking with DAILY POST, the Force PRO, Mrs Olabisi Alofe Kolawole, said there was no circular to that regard and wondered where the media got the information from. http://dailypost.ng/2016/01/05/police-denies-banning-officers-from-checking-mobile-phones/ |

Prophet TB Joshua has revealed his prophecies for 2016. And he says Nigerians should pray for President Buhari. That he president will do everything to reject revaluation of the naira – which is a good idea from a good leader. But there will be overwhelming pressure which he will not be able to resist. He also prophesied that there will be large scale scarcity, shortage of food. As a state, country, continent, we have to go back to the farm to arrest, to alleviate the forthcoming situation. I write this not to my delight but due to the compulsion that weighs heavy on my mind to narrate this unfortunate tale of two lovers. This is not super story. It is a real life occurrence that happened in 2013, exactly on Salah day. Let me make this brief as much as possible. There was a colleague in our finance department at work who was seeing a lady co-worker (receptionist) but the relationship was unknown to almost everyone in the office. It was kept on a low, 'coded' as many would say. Then came Salah break in September (if I recall correctly, a Thursday) and we all left the office hoping to reconvene on the coming Monday but unfortunately, the unexpected happened. A sad news broke and spread with the swift of a speeding bullet. BBM and whatsapp were hyper-active among colleagues, phones rang per second. What a shock! The receptionist had died. The story filtered in and unfolded. Apparently, both took the advantage of the Salah break to journey to the North where the lady's parent reside. Guess what, they went for their formal introduction. From news made available to us, both families already travelled and converged at the lady's family home, awaiting the arrival of their son and daughter. About 45 minutes to reaching their designation, the bus both boarded skidded off the road and crashed in a nearby bush. As explained by the survivor, the lady was asleep, her head leaned on his shoulder when the accident occurred. Luckily for him, if that is okay to indulge in, he survived after being unconscious for two days in the hospital where he was rushed to but unfortunately, she died instantly and as also made known, there were no major visible cuts or scratches on her. I was not there but my conclusion would probably be a split-second shock to the heart or a head collision as the vehicle went off tracks. This is the sad story that tore through and broke the hearts of all in my office. But there were bigger questions that streamed through my mind...how can one explain this, when both were en route to happiness but ended up experiencing the sad part of life? How would the family have received the news? What would the family of the survivor had said to the family of the deceased at the instant that the news was broken? Remember, they were all together awaiting their arrival. Would both families still be friends after the incident knowing fully well that what once brought them together was no more? Would there be accusations in the air? This is Africa. We stray our thoughts to the extreme when bad experience befalls us. Wouldn't the lady's family see the guy and his family as a curse to them? Obviously, they would have wished the guy never met their daughter, maybe there wouldn't have been a journey on that Salah day. On the guy's side, would he see himself as a destroyer of his lover's life or take the situation as just one of life's unfortunate events and move on without a mind laden with guilt? It was clear to see that the guy was highly traumatised. After a month, he departed our office in Lagos and had to leave for another country to join same office. Till date, he has not returned finally back to Nigeria and yet to marry. Nairalanders, how do you view this situation? What's your take? |
End time LASTMA |
Maghan37:There's no doubt the driver committed the offence and it was stupid of him to try to run off. However, it was more idi0tic and senseless for the lastma officer to jump into a moving vehicle, struggle with the driver and stvpidly pull out the key while in motion thereby endangering other peoples' lives in the bus, to the extent of killing a baby. He should be prosecuted. Simple! |
waveskaaya:If seeing the pix of a dead baby is what you are looking for,you are on your own... |
This is what happens when thugs are hired to perform the function of road officers. There is no clear distinction between 'agbero' and these Lastma thugs. See how the idi00t destroyed someone's happiness. |
A five-month-old baby has been reportedly killed and several others injured after an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority attempted to arrest a commercial bus driver for violating the traffic law around the Awoyokun end of Ikorodu Road. The yet-to-be-identified culprit was said to be among a team of traffic officials from the LASTMA’s Anthony office. https://www.punchng.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Scene-of-the-accident.jpg Scene of the accident PUNCH Metro gathered that the bus driver had picked up a passenger by the roadside when the officials began trailing the vehicle. One of the LASTMA officials was said to have jumped into the front seat in a bid to arrest the driver. It was learnt that the driver, whose vehicle was filled with passengers, continued driving in a bid to evade arrest. Our correspondent was told that in the ensuing struggle, the LASTMA official allegedly pulled out the ignition key as the bus crashed into a stationary refuse truck. A witness, who did not identify himself, said the incident happened at about 12pm. He said, “The driver was caught picking a passenger on the road and the LASTMA officials pursued him. They caught up with him and one of them quickly jumped into the bus and told the driver to give him the key. The driver refused and continued driving. The LASTMA officer started fighting for the control of the steering with him. Before we knew what was going on, the LASTMA man removed the key from the ignition. At this point, the bus rammed into a refuse truck.” A commercial driver, Sola Adeyemo, said the impact of the collision flung out many of the passengers, some of whom sustained fractures. “They broke their hands and legs. It was a serious accident. Even the bus driver was injured. A few of them were laid on the road. Those that sustained the most injuries were those by the door. A woman was critically injured and it will be a miracle if she survived it,” he added. It was learnt that the LASTMA official responsible for the accident was equally injured. A witness, who captured the official extricating himself from the bus, said he limped out. He said, “He climbed out while we were trying to save the lives of the passengers and the driver. He stood on top of the bus and then jumped on the refuse truck. From there, he jumped over a nearby fence and ran away.” All the victims were reportedly taken to the casualty ward of the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, Lagos. An official said the hospital’s Chief Medical Director was not available. However, some officials at the casualty ward confirmed that a baby was killed. One of them said, “Some people were brought here and they sustained injuries. Immediately they came, they were attended to and those whose injuries were not serious left. “The mother of the child who died was brought here and she was treated. The baby’s remains were taken away by the family.” The LASTMA Public Relations Officer, Mamud Hassan, denied that any life was lost, adding that the driver of the bus was the architect of the crash. He said, “The commercial bus driver is a serial traffic law violator. He had been warned several times and he did not cease his habit. On Monday, he did it again and our officials gave him the opportunity to drop the passengers at the nearest bus stop before they tried to take his vehicle into LASTMA yard, but in his desperate attempt to escape, he continued driving and making calls to his friends to come and deal with the officials. “It was in his desperation to escape that he rammed the bus into a stationary truck. About three people sustained minor injuries, which included the official, the driver, and one other passenger. “No life was lost. Drivers and motorists should please assist us to do our jobs. If any of our officials are caught doing anything wrong, they will be punished.” The Police Public Relations Officer, Joe Offor, confirmed the incident, which was reported at the Ilupeju Police division. He said passengers, who made statements alleged that the accident was caused by the LASTMA official. “However, we do not have any record of death, except that few people sustained injuries,” he added. http://www.punchng.com/baby-killed-as-overzealous-lastma-officer-causes-accident/ More scenes below as extracted from Pulseng. End time Badagry. |
Residents of Big Daddy Street in the Atinplome, Bagadry area of Lagos State on Tuesday stormed an uncompleted building in the area, which they suspected to be a ritual killer’s den, after a female victim raised the alarm. PUNCH Metro learnt that at about 12am, while a carnival went on in the area, a woman in her late 20s, whose name had yet to be known, had run into the party with her throat partly cut, while blood was streaming out of her body. The girl, who later became unconscious and was rushed to a private hospital in the area, told the partying crowd that an alfa, identified as Mallam Sheu, had tricked her into the uncompleted structure before slitting her throat with a knife. The matter was said to have been reported at the Morogbo Police Division, and some policemen came to the scene, but the alfa was said to have fled the uncompleted apartment. It was learnt that in the morning, more residents thronged the area and they were said to have found bloodstains, old clothes, charms and ladies’ clothes inside the structure. Speaking with PUNCH Metro, a resident who identified herself as Mummy Eso, said youths in the area attempted to burn the den in the afternoon, thinking that the girl had died as a result of her injuries. Mummy Eso added that the alfa did not stay in the area and nobody suspected that he used the place for evil purpose. She said: “There was commotion in our area in the midnight when boys holding a street party saw the girl bleeding from the throat. The girl, who just managed to speak, pointed to the structure and said an alfa had attempted to kill her, but she managed to escape. One of her hands had also been tampered with. So, the youths became furious and headed for the uncompleted building. Some policemen, who were also on guard duties at the carnival were informed about the incident and they went too. But information had got to the man, and he escaped before they could arrest him. Since morning, people have been coming to the area to check the building. They attempted to burn it in the afternoon.” Another resident, identified as Akeem Ajao, who visited the building, said the youths found old bloodstains, clothes and charms. He said: “The lady ran into the carnival with blood streaming out of her body. One of those at the carnival saw her and came to her rescue. She said a man was in the house trying to slaughter her. “We rushed the girl to a hospital, where she is now receiving treatment. We did not know that the alfa used the house to do evil works. The girl’s clothes were bloodstained. The police have also come to the area this morning. “When I entered the house, I saw bloodstains, charms and a human bone was also in the man’s car – a Gulf 4 vehicle. It was the boys holding the carnival who noticed the girl. “The girl’s neck was cut. Nobody knows the family of the girl involved. The man has run away from the area.” Punch gathered that the alfa had been having an affair with the lady, before he took her to the uncompleted building on the evening of the carnival. The lady was said to have come from the Igando area to Atinplome. The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joe Offor, said he would get back to their correspondent with details of the incident. But, he had yet to do so as of press time. http://www.lailasblog.com/2015/12/suspected-ritual-killers-den-in-lagos.html?m=1 |
