Immediate past President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has stated that he has no reason to look down on anybody, except he is taller than the person. According to Jonathan, God created everyone equal and as such, everyone deserved to be treated equal, not minding his religion and ethnicity. Speaking at the just concluded Southern Christian Leadership Conference, in Atlanta, the Otuoke-born politician said he was committed to using his foundation to spread the gospel of peace across the nation. His full address below. “I thank the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, for inviting and honoring me today, and especially so, as this invitation comes right about the period when the world stands still in recognition of the selfless sacrifice of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. When we think of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), it is virtually impossible to separate this worthy body from its founder, the late great Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, or from epoch making landmark events of the American Civil Rights movement. I am pleased to know that the Southern Christian Leadership Conference is not just one of the great American institutions, it is also one of her more potent vehicles for the advancement of liberty and freedom for all God’s people. For that, I also commend Charles Steele for his leadership and commitment to peace and justice nationally and globally. The Southern Christian Leadership Conference and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s principles of non violent protests played a great part in the independence movement in my native country Nigeria and indeed throughout Africa as a whole. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr witnessed the British Union Jack being lowered in Ghana in 1957 when Ghana became the first Sub-Saharan African nation to gain independence, an action which set off a positive chain reaction all over the continent. In 1963, Ambassador Leslie O. Harriman, Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, who prosecuted our anti apartheid strategy at the UN, testified of the support he received from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr in kick starting that noble effort. Suffice to say that the efforts of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr in advancing Liberty and equal rights transcended national boundaries. Speaking for my foundation, the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation, I must say that I have been inspired by this great man and the worthy institutions and legacies he left behind and I am further inspired to continuing doing good and advancing human freedoms just by being present here today. My personal takeaway from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, is service to God and the brotherhood and equality of all men before their Creator. In keeping with that, I have learnt not to look up to any man, except he is taller than I, or to look down on a fellow mortal, except I am admiring his shoes. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. famously said: “Power at its best is love implementing the demands of justice. Justice at its best is love correcting everything that stands against love”. Those words helped me deliver on my stated promise to deepen democracy in Nigeria and in the process demonstrate through action that nobody’s political ambition is worth the blood of any Nigerian. Once again, I thank the Southern Christian Leadership Conference for having me. May God bless you and continue to raise up from among you men and women who will continue in the footsteps of your worthy forebears.” http://dailypost.ng/2016/01/15/i-have-learnt-not-to-look-up-to-any-man-except-he-is-taller-than-me-jonathan/

When you are killed by your obsession... Vanity A runner-up in one of Brazil's biggest beauty pageants has died after undergoing cosmetic surgery to remove 'laugh lines', it was reported today. Model Raquel Santos, 28, from Sao Gonçalo, Rio de Janeiro, suffered a heart attack after having fillers injected in her face on Monday, and police are now investigating her death. Friends of the mother-of-two told how she was terrified of dying during plastic surgery, but was a 'slave to vanity' who submitted herself to 'every procedure imaginable'. The 28-year-old, who was a finalist in the popular Musa do Brasil competition in December, suffered a cardiac arrest following the procedure on Monday. Police are now investigating whether her reportedly daily use of an illegal horse medicine, which she injected before workouts as a performance enhancer, might have contributed to her death. The Potenay drug, which contains mefentermine, a cardio-respiratory stimulant, is increasing used in Brazil by bodybuilders for muscle gain, but also raises users' blood pressure. Yesterday police reportedly interrupted the funeral of Ms Santos and took her body away for further examination after claims the model's death certificate had been wrongly completed. Miss Santos' best friend Debora Azevedo told Brazil's G1 website how the model, who leaves behind two sons aged seven and 13, was 'obsessed' with cosmetic surgery. She said: 'She was very concerned about her looks. She would go off and have procedures without telling her friends so we wouldn't fight with her. 'She was terrified of dying during surgery. But she did it anyway, that was how much she was obsessed with looking good. And she did every aesthetic procedure imaginable, from artificial tans to lymphatic drainage. 'She was so vain. She worked out religiously, she was as addicted to working out as she was to plastic surgery.' Her boyfriend Gilberto Azevedo said her quest for beauty was unnecessary and dangerous. He said: 'She was fascinated by it all, carnival, working out, and she always wanted more 'I thought that she, ugly or beautiful, was fine as she was. But she always wanted more, unnecessarily. 'She smoked a lot and injected Potenay before going to the gym. 'She was a very happy person, friendly and full of dreams. All she ever wanted to do was become a model.' Plastic surgeon Wagner Moraes, who conducted the 'laugh lines' correction on Ms Santos, insisted the procedure wasn't responsible for her death. He said: 'It was a simple procedure which lasted two minutes. The big problem is that she was already suffering health complications, applying Potenay to her body every day, including on the day of the surgery.' http://www.lailasblog.com/2016/01/beautiful-model-who-was-slave-to-vanity.html?m=1 Read full story here:http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3397013/Brazilian-model-slave-vanity-dies-having-fillers-injected-face-remove-laughter-lines.html |

https://cdn.dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Abdullahi-Dikko.jpg?fbe18f Indications have emerged that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, is after the immediate past Comptroller-General, CG, of the Nigerian Customs Service, NCS, Abdullahi Dikko because of the alleged “messy and stinking Customs” he bequeathed his successor, Col. Hameed Ali (rtd). This is as the anti-graft agency is considering the use of extradition to bring home the former Customs CG from Dubai, where he is suspected to be living since his retirement, if he failed to honour its invitation this week, Leadership reports. It would be recalled that operatives of the commission stormed Dikko’s Abuja house when he was away to Dubai and turned the house ‘upside down’ searching for some incriminating documents over the ongoing investigation of some petitions brought against him while in office. The immediate past Customs CG had voluntarily retired from service shortly after President Muhammadu Buhari was sworn into office. This was despite the fact that Dikko’s second- term had just begun. A source in the commission told the newspaper that the failure of Dikko to honour the EFCC invitation may mean the use of extradition from the United Arab Emirates, adding that, “It is advisable for Dikko to return home this week to answer some questions raised by the petitioners who accused him of sharp practices while in office the better otherwise, the commission will has no choice but to use the extradition to bring him to justice wherever he may be.” The source continued that, “Dikko has some questions to answer over what Col Ali met on ground, the place stinks, to say the least and if the man has travelled out of the country, we may ask him to come back if he has nothing to hide else we may be forced to use other ways to bring him back.” http://dailypost.ng/2016/01/12/why-efcc-is-after-former-customs-boss-dikko/ |

Warlord3000:The greed of men. It is clear to see he has already spent every dime and to make a refund is now an issue for him. Well, I am very much in support of his detention. In fact, EFCC should approach the court again to apply for an extension of his detention. |
https://cdn.dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Olisa-Metuh.jpg?fbe18f The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh, on Monday filed a fundamental rights enforcement suit before a Federal High Court in Lagos, seeking for his immediate release from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. DAILY POST recalls that the PDP spokesman was on January 5, arrested by the anti-graft agency for allegedly receiving N400m from the $2.1bn arms funds that was allegedly diverted by a former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd.) and distributed to top politicians. But Metuh had reportedly claimed that the sum was for an undisclosed service he rendered to the immediate past President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan. In the suit filed by his lawyer, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, the PDP spokesman alleged that his arrest and continued detention was part of a grand ploy by the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to silence the voice of opposition and make Nigeria a one-party country. Adegboruwa, who personally deposed to an affidavit of urgency in support of Metuh’s suit, stated that since President Muhammadu Buhari was sworn in last year, he has launched “a massive attack upon the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, in the guise of fighting a nebulous anti-corruption war.” The lawyer further claimed that the President had upon taking office reorganised the EFCC to hound the opposition. Metuh, through Adegboruwa, sought a declaration that his detention by the EFCC without access to his family and lawyer, and without being charged to court, amounted to a violation of his fundamental rights guaranteed under sections 33, 34, 35, 38, 40, 41, 42, 43 and 44 of the 1999 Constitution. Expressing fear that Metuh was being kept under untidy or unhygienic conditions which might have effect on his health, Adegboruwa argued that Metuh’s continued detention was a breach to the African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights (Ratification and Enforcement) Act, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004. He said, “I verily believe that the applicant has not committed any offence other than his principled opposition to the ruling government and his arrest and detention are meant to silence the opposition and create a one-party state by the respondents to allow the APC to dominate Nigeria. “Nobody knows the present whereabouts of the applicant, as to his exact place of detention, his condition in the custody and how he is faring. Recently, detainees in the custody of the 1st respondent have been dying due to lack of proper care and adequate medical facilities, as the 1st respondent is not normally well-funded to function effectively, except to be used by the ruling government to hound the opposition.” In the suit, Metuh prayed the court to order the EFCC and the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami SAN, sued as the 2nd defendant, to immediately release him. http://dailypost.ng/2016/01/11/metuh-sues-efcc-over-continued-detention/ |

***recommends compulsory retirement of two officers https://cdn.dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/army-panel3.jpg?fbe18f The high-powered Board of Inquiry constituted by the Nigerian Army to investigate allegations of unprofessional conduct of its officers during the 2014 governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun states on Monday submitted its report to the Chief of Army Staff at the Army Headquarters, Abuja, recommending the compulsory retirement of two officers. Chairman of the Board and General Officer Commanding 1 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Adeniyi Oyebade, while submitting the report, stated that the Board placed advertorials in the media requesting for memoranda from the public before sitting was commenced, adding that a total of 23 officers and over 100 soldiers appeared before it as well as 62 civilians. A statement issued by the acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, quotes Oyebade as noting that the Board made far reaching recommendations that would assist the Nigerian Army and the nation in the future, stressing that two officers were recommended for compulsory retirement from the Nigerian Army, three were to lose their command and one was recommended for prosecution for collecting financial gratification. https://cdn.dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/army-panel11.jpg?fbe18f The statement reads, “Other recommendations include placing 15 officers on watch list, 9 officers were to be further investigated by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission over allegations leveled against them. While 6 officers were to face an audit committee and 62 officers (mostly of the rank of Majors-below) were to be given Letters of Displeasure and to appear before their respective General Officers Commanding for counseling.” The Board Chairman went on to thank the Nigerian Army for the opportunity to serve and reiterated the Board’s members’ willingness to serve when called upon for any other such assignment. He also acknowledged the support and cooperation they received from the Nigerian Police and other security agencies, as well as the general public. https://cdn.dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/army-panel21.jpg?fbe18f Speaking while receiving the report, the Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Lt-Gen. TY Buratai, thanked the Board for a thorough and dispassionate job devoid of influence from any quarters. He expressed delight that the Board, knowing the gravity and implication of their report on the careers of officers and impact on the Nigerian Army, discharged their assignment diligently and professionally. He assured them that the report would be reviewed accordingly, in line with Nigerian Army’s legal and administrative procedures. https://cdn.dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/army-panel4.jpg?fbe18f The Army Chief also enjoined members of the Board to share knowledge acquired in the course of their assignment with their colleagues for the benefit of the Nigerian Army and the nation. He further reiterated assurances that the Nigerian Army would continue to remain professional and apolitical in the discharge of its responsibilities. http://dailypost.ng/2016/01/11/ekiti-guber-election-army-panel-submits-report-recommends-compulsory-retirement-of-two-officers/ |
The inevitable will still happen. He pioneered all these corruption and his hands are fully immersed in the cookie jar. He cannot get away with these atrocities all because he once served as president. See what the country has turned to. Imagine if this crook had won the election, this country will just wipe off the world map. Thief. |
