End time Metuh... |

PDP has lost anything left that could be called credibility. Metuh feels the only way to resurrect the party is to stay verbally relevant. What a waste! |
https://cdn.dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Olisa-Metuh.jpg?fbe18f The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party has admitted that rebuilding the party after its exit from power has been challenging. The acclaimed largest party in Africa said that since it lost power for the first time since 1999, it has not been easy. The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Chief Olisa Metuh, who told Punch in an interview, however, said some persons had deserted the party because it refused to use derogatory words on the person of President Buhari. The party chieftain, however said, he was confident that the forces working against the rebuilding of the party within its fold and outside would crumble. He said, “We have been rebuilding, but it is not easy. We are rebuilding, but there are different forces, and contending interests (working against it). It is not easy. “On one hand, we are dealing with a ruthless ruling party, and we also have some divisive elements in our party who are genuinely accepting some influence in the administration of the party. “Knowingly or unknowingly, they are embarking on distractions and distractions that would rather be in the interest of the ruling party than our growth.” Metuh said despite losing the general elections, it had tried to remain focused and play the role of an opposition to the ruling All Progressives Congress. As the spokesperson for the opposition party, Metuh regretted that some members of his party wanted him to be abusing the President (Muhammadu Buhari) with the hope that that action would boost the image of the PDP. He said, “But since we lost the election, we have tried to remain focused and retain the support of a very large number of our members to remain focused in opposing this government. “Some of our members misconstrue an opposition party to be a party that insults people because that was what the APC was doing. “People want us to insult the President and the ruling party to remain in opposition. Because we are not doing that, our people are not comfortable with that. “They believe that we are too soft and they believe that we are too academic. They want us to be insulting the people. It was not by insulting the former President that gave the APC victory. “We fuelled partisan support for the APC in some part of the country. ” http://dailypost.ng/2015/12/28/people-are-running-from-pdp-because-we-refused-to-insult-buhari-metuh/ |

Imagine how some people will have to use torchlight to search for their schools. ![]() |
There was a census on nairaland yesterday to identify which higher institution has the highest number of members on the forum and this was to be affirmed by clicking respective 'likes' for your school. I have decided to collate the results and this was finalized as at 10:10 am this morning (24-12-2105). See outputs in tables below Summary 1. 60 schools were listed by the Op in the Census post yesterday and results were based on these institutions only. 2. 5591 'likes' were gathered in Total 3. Highest number of members on Nairaland - University of Ilorin tops the chart with 418 likes accounting for a share of 7.45% of the total number of 'likes' 4. Obong University sits at the bottom with 0.05%. If you cannot find your school on the list, apparently the Ops on the original post must have missed it out. For me, I rep OAU and I wonder how UNILORIN beat us to the top by 20 likes. For any complaints or doubts as regard the scores, please refer to the original post to check the number of likes. Obviously, this might have changed for some schools due to late 'likes' after 10:10am this morning. If still unsatisfied, please call Jega ![]() https://www.nairaland.com/2819020/nairaland-2015-uni-poly-census

https://cdn.dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/el-rufai-jonathan-drinks-only-kain-kain-in-aso-rock1.jpg?fbe18f Shi’ite Muslim members have condemned the statement credited to the Kaduna state Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, on their recent clash with soldiers, calling him “an extremist anti-Shi’ite governor and not a state governor”. El-Rufai had in a state broadcast on Thursday condemned the activities of the group and banned all protests and rallies in the state without police permit. But reacting yesterday, the Shi’ites said, “It is clear that the governor is more like an extremist anti-Shi’ite governor and not a state governor.” Continuing, the statement noted that “Going by the concept and tone of the state broadcast on the extra-judicial killing of thousands of members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria by the Nigerian Army, delivered by the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir Ahmed el-Rufai, it is clear that the governor is more like an extremist anti-Shi’ite governor and not a state governor. “Although the governor took his time in his speech to elaborate on rights to religion and social association, but he chose to deny only the Shi’ites such rights who he sees as his enemies. Clearly, he spent considerable time collecting propaganda details indicting the movement, which further buttresses the point that the state governor has his hands soiled by the blood spilled in the mass extra-judicial killings perpetrated by the Army. “In that circumstance, no justice should be expected from a speech made up with details only provided by the antagonistic culprits without hearing from the other party who are the victims in this case. “During the one-sided speech, he brought up a number of allegations that he said they discovered. We will take up these one after the other. He alleged that our centre had no building permit and such other allegations. “One wonders why if the Kaduna state government felt the Hussainiyah was wrongly erected or breached planning permits, they did not resort to legal action rather than use of brutal force. Why not get a court order to effect an eviction? Or does the government mean there are no magistrates or Alkali left in Zaria anymore? “For Governor El-Rufai to claim that there is no valid paper on the land on which Husainiyya was built as the basis for this military attack, only further proves that the attack was premeditated. We are equally astonished when the Governor in his broadcast claimed that ‘they had tried to forcibly acquire the property of their neighbours; this is apart from subjecting residents to an illegal curfew’. “We challenge the governor to cite one particular case where we forcibly acquired a property, let alone a time when we imposed curfew. There had been tension in parts of Zaria since Thursday, 10 December 2015, when members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria were alleged to have attacked Gabari, a community on the outskirts of Zaria, in continuation of a dispute over a mosque. “We would like to ask Mr. Governor how many disputes over mosques have been reported in the 37 years that the IMN have been there in Zaria? The idea that Shiites will go and take over a Salafi mosque is as laughable as the idea that Christian evangelicals will raid a Catholic cathedral and tell the adherents to get out. “This big lie cannot stand any scrutiny. What happened in Gabari is not ‘Mosque snatching’ as the governor claims. It was a case of some Salafist bent on attacking the Shiites in the neighbourhood. In the process they killed one person the week before and a further three Shiiteson Thursday. “The governor cleverly stated this in his speech as if to show that we were not the victims but the assailants. The Governor made mention of the Arbaeen symbolic trek as an instance where we blocked roads for four days when he stated, ‘In the last two weeks, the Islamic Movement of Nigeria has also illegally occupied federal roads. Over a period of four days, they took over one side of the federal expressway between Kaduna and Zaria, and the roads to Kano and Katsina’. “Clearly, this is a deliberate attempt to twist the facts. During the Arbaeen symbolic treks, we block only limited part of the road, and this is to protect persons from traffic accidents, control mass movement and avoid chaos on the roads. “The governor here was trying to give the impression of a complete occupation of a lane for four days. That was not the case. Blocks were only from junction to junction on the roads. “The public was informed about these little inconveniences with apologies on public radio and television stations throughout the trek. Road users during the period would be surprised by the governor’s statement. “How does this compare with similar road blocks by others such as the Military itself that blocks from Jaji to Zaria, and at times from Kaduna to Zaria or within Zaria metropolis during their parades? Citing road block as the reason for this brutal attack is just laughable. “Where in the law books is it written that those who block the roads should be massacred without trials? In addition, members of the movement are alleged to openly carry and use offensive weapons.” While challenging the Governor to mention weapons they found when security agents razed Husainiyya to the ground or at Sheikh Zakzaky’s residence, the group said: “While the military involved in this operation said in its press conference that they did not find any weapons after all the mass killings they did in Zaria, the governor in his desperate attempt to blacklist the movement, still talked of offensive weapons. “From the speech of the governor one can deduce that he did all he can to portray the movement as assailants. “After leveling all allegations against the movement, the governor went ahead to talk of setting up a Judicial Board of inquiry. One wonders why he didn’t leave the inquiry to determine who are the assailants and who are the victims. “Definitely the scope and mission of the inquiry could be problematic. The army is a federal institution. It would be difficult enough for a state judge to inquire into what they have done when they are not answerable to state officials. How will such a judge now also overturn conclusions already reached by the governor?” the Shi’ites stated. http://dailypost.ng/2015/12/21/shiite-muslims-call-el-rufai-an-extremist-governor/ |

If it was true that the guy shared her nude pix online, I'm sorry I can't totally blame the lady for cooking up the rape story. Kunle truly deserved what he got. What the guy did was totally damaging and it was an act that could have driven her to committing suicide. When someone shares your nude pictures to the whole world, all you can do is to find a way to get back at him. It was a good thing he made Kunle suffer before letting him off the rape charges. All he now faces is the charge on persona damages. Meanwhile ladies stop sharing nude pictures with guys, regardless of the trust you may have for him. Sharing nudes does not make him love you more. If he is that highly pressed to see nude girls, there are billions of pictures he can look up online to satisfy his urges. Tell him that. |
There is a new twist to the alleged rape case of a 19-year-old teenager, Gbemisola, as she now claims to have framed 24-year-old Kunle in order to punish him. PUNCH Metro gathered on Friday that Gbemisola and Kunle were in an intimate relationship and had sexual intercourse by mutual consent. It was further learnt that Gbemisola had sent some of her nude pictures to Kunle on Whatsapp before things went awry between them. Gbemisola, a caterer, had alleged that Kunle asked her out, which she turned down because she had a boyfriend already. She had alleged that the suspect lured her into his parents’ house in Agiliti Estate, Ketu, and raped her. She claimed that the suspect did a picsmix of her nude pictures, included her phone number, and shared them with his friends on the Internet. The suspect, while reacting, had told Punch that Gbemisola was his girlfriend, adding that the 19-year-old sent him the nude pictures, which he only showed to his friends. On Friday, PUNCH Metro learnt that the suspect was arrested by the police and the case was immediately transferred to the State Department of Criminal Investigation, Yaba. After both of them were grilled by police detectives, it was discovered that Gbemisola lied in her statement to the police at the Ketu Police Division. Kunle, who was in tears at the SDCI, said that the only evidence he had of their relationship was destroyed by Gbemisola on the morning of his arrest. He said: “I am in a big trouble. The only evidence I have that she sent those pictures to me was my chat history. But immediately the police came to arrest me, she picked my phone and threw it into a well. She is the only one that can save me by just telling the truth. We were in a relationship and I didn’t rape her.” Punch's correspondent, who later spoke with Gbemisola, asked why she lied against Kunle. Gbemisola said she wanted to punish him for betraying her trust and sharing her nude pictures with his friends and family members on the Internet, adding that some of his friends had been calling to demand “their own share of sex.” She said she threw his phone into the well because Kunle claimed he had evidence of their relationship. She said: “He is my boyfriend and we had dated for just one week when he asked for my nude pictures. When two people are dating and they are in love, anything can happen between them. Initially, I declined and he started begging me. I asked him to swear on oath that he would later delete the pictures from his phone and he did. I sent the pictures because of the trust I had in him.” Gbemisola said she visited him few days afterwards, and he had sex with her. “He didn’t rape me, but I gave in because he begged, saying it had been long since he did it.” She said the following day, Kunle asked for a recharge card, which she sent to him, adding that he made more demands and when she declined, the suspect threatened to make her a “celebrity” in the community. “I discovered he never loved me and merely wanted to use and dump me. “When he asked me to come to his house again, I refused and asked him to do his worst. He then asked me to log in to Whatsapp. Immediately I did, I saw that he had made my nude photos his Display Picture (DP). He also sent them to me, as well,” she added. She said her first boyfriend, who got hold of her phone saw the pictures, and was angry. Gbemisola said she also received text messages and telephone calls from those who saw the pictures. “They were saying, ‘come and let’s sleep with you too.’ I was humiliated. A few days later, I was on the road when Kunle saw me and started mocking me. I almost committed suicide,” she added. She said she damaged Kunle’s laptop after he continued with his threat that he had another explicit video of her. “I lied against him to punish him for what he did. I threw away his phone into the well because he claimed to have evidence. I wanted to destroy him completely. But seeing how far this case has gone, I want to forgive him. We are from the same Ondo State and our parents are friends,” she added. The Police Public Relations Officer, Joe Offor, told Punch that investigation was on. He said: “Both parties agreed that the intercourse of that date was consensual and could not have amounted to rape. Other aspects of the allegation are under investigation.” http://www.lailasblog.com/2015/12/i-accused-my-boyfriend-of-rape-to.html?m=1 |

https://cdn.dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/gunmen-2.jpg?fbe18f The Commissioner for Local Government in Bayelsa State, Madam Serefina Otazi has been kidnapped by some yet-to-be identified gunmen. Otazi’s abduction is coming barely a day after the younger sister of Governor Seriake Dickson, Miss Nancy Dickson, was reportedly abducted alongside her salesgirl in Yenagoa, the state capital. The suspected gunmen were said to have kidnapped the Commissioner on Sunday afternoon in Otuoke, home town of former President Goodluck Jonathan. Speaking on the kidnap, nephew of the commissioner, Patrick Oba said she was abducted at gun point in Otuoke while on her way to Ewoi community in Ogbia Local Government Area of the state for a funeral event. The kidnappers were said to have forcefully taken away her car keys so as to frustrate attempts to report the crime. Other occupants in the car which include, two females and the driver were unharmed by the gunmen who sped off to an unknown destination with Otezi in their own vehicle. The victim had served as Commissioner for Women Affairs and Acting Chairman of Ogbia Local Government Area. Confirming the incident, the State Police Command spokesman, Asinim Butswat, said the command had intensified efforts to rescue the victim and apprehend the culprits. http://dailypost.ng/2015/12/20/breaking-gunmen-kidnap-serving-commissioner-in-bayelsa/ |
[s]
Before elections, you visit him, shake him and bend down to him; after elections, attack him, shoot him, beat him, kill his followers, demolish his houses that you visited him in (and call the building illegal) and demolish worship place and then want to take him to court. let us see which court will find this sheikh guilty of any "crime". let us see if procession/protest and practicing beliefs different from the majority is a crime in any democracy that deserves killings and prosecution. or may be Mr. El Rufai will have to take the sheikh to a military court? what crime has a man whose followers clashed with the army last year, and have 30 of his members and three sons killed committed? what crime has a man whose followers blocked a highway and got shot by soldiers committed? what crime has a man whose house was attacked, after the army chief's convoy had passed committed? what crime has a man whose worship center was attacked, after the army chief's convoy had passed committed? what crime has a man whose followers got shot in cold blood and extra judicially committed? what crime has a man who was shot along with his wife and son committed? what crime has a man whose deputy was shot committed? i think if anyone deserved prosecution it is Mr. El Rufai himself. and will those who killed civilians go scot-free? will they be made to face justice? Mr. El-Rufai should find ways to make reconciliation and beg the man for the sins committed against him, his family members and his followers. not take him to court. this is a democracy. you dont send soldiers to kill people in their backyard and get arrested by soldiers as if you are fighting terrorists or a foreign army. if El Rufai doesnt seek reconciliation and how to make peace with this man and his organization, the below handshake will be a divine curse upon El Rfufai and his family till eternity. when 30 members of zakzzaky's movement and three of his sons were killed last year, el rufai did not call for zakzaky to be prosecuted. he instead described the Nigeria Army as "Jonathanian Genocidal Army". what has changed Mr. EL Rufai?[/s] Arrant nonsense... |

It may not have been the perfect response from the military but I will still pack the bulk of the blame on the Shiites. If not that we thrive in a lawless continent, how can a group of persons or people under the guise of religion put public facilities to ransom. Why must anyone barricade a road meant to be used by the public. To cap it all, they now had the effrontery to confront the military and also threaten their lives. It is only a deranged man that will stare at the nozzle of a gun and will decide to dance in front of it. Needless to say that the military also took steps to calming the situation in the first instance but these thugs still went ahead with their threats. Someone said after all they only had sticks and machetes, is it when they start cutting people's heads before they expect the military to react. Lesson learned: Your 6 packs cannot act as an effective bulletproof. |
https://cdn.dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/El-Zakzaky-Muslim-Sect.jpg?fbe18f The Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai, yesterday disclosed that the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, would be prosecuted for crimes he may have committed. This is coming on the heels of a clash between followers of El-Zakzaky and the military in Zaria. A recent clash had occurred between the convoy of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, and followers of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria who were said to have condoned off the highway during their annual procession. The barricade and subsequent raid on the residence of El-Zakzaky reportedly led to the death of some of the latter’s followers, including his son. Following the incident, the military immediately issued a press statement alleging that members of the sect wanted to assassinate Buratai. Few days after El-Zakzaky’s residence was raided by the army, Governor El-Rufai announced the setting up of a judicial commission of inquiry to look into the clash between the Shiite members and the military. But the movement has expressed lack of confidence in the judicial commission of enquiry proposed by the governor to probe the clash. El-Rufai, while addressing journalists on Saturday in Kaduna after Northern Governors, under the aegis of Northern States Governors’ Forum, NSGF, rose from their meeting convened to look into the clash between the military and Shiite members in Zaria, said, “The leader of the movement is in custody, he will be prosecuted for any crimes that he may have committed. But that is the decision for the federal authorities. There are state and federal crimes.” “There is a government and a constitution and we are resolved to follow the constitution and due process,” he stated. http://dailypost.ng/2015/12/20/el-zakzaky-will-be-prosecuted-for-his-crimes-el-rufai/ |

https://cdn.dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Seriake-Dickson.jpg?fbe18f Gov. Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa has called on his main opponent in the inconclusive governorship election in the state Chief Timiprie Sylva of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to concede defeat. Dickson, who is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the election, said this while briefing newsmen on Saturday in Abuja. He said that he was the leading candidate in the election having won six out of the seven local government areas so far declared with good margin. The governor also expressed confidence that he stood a chance to winning election in the remaining local government, adding that the Southern Ijaw was his stronghold. He added that there was no APC presence in Southern Ijaw, stressing that his administration in the last three and half years had done so much in the local government. “If we were in decent clime, my brother and friend, Timiprie Sylva and his party should have conceded defeat long ago because I am the leading candidate,’’ he said. Dickson lauded the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a rerun in the affected area. He alleged that what took place in Southern Ijaw was a complete abuse of electoral processes and the norms and so INEC had to cancel it on the first day. “The inconclusive election in the affected area was an election that never took place which everybody is aware of because there was hijack of election materials. “We should be interested in asking some people who should be explaining how they came about sensitive documents,’’ he said. He, however, called on the Federal Government and the security agencies to create an enabling environment and create a level playing for electoral processes to succeed. “The national security establishment must have their eyes on the ball by securing this country within and without. “We are available to ensure that our country is safe because you cannot talk of security until every part of the country is safe,’’ he said. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that INEC had fixed Jan. 9, 2016 for the rerun election for the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area in consultation with all stakeholders.
