Lagusta: nursing is a good and lucrative course ....Money must be involved ![]() |
LizyL: Hey, any nursing student in the house? Tell me bout the advantages and disadvantages of studying nursing science.Disadvantages?? Nursing is cool |
fedico21: [/b]The Indian prof that taught me Neuroanatomy contributed less than 30% to my Neuro knowledge. He only served as a guide- it was nearly useless sitting in that lecture hall to listen to his blabs. Neuro class was perfect siesta time. Nevertheless, attending the class was very important- Neuro is too wide and deep to believe you'd master it 100% on your own. Neuro is too wide for your lecturer to teach everything. Your lecturer will emphasize on a particular subject matter when treating a topic- so it would help you master what you need to master without wasting time unnecessarily. You need a good textbook too. I recommend Functional Neuroanatomy: Text and Atlas by Adel K. Afifi, Ronald A. Bergman. Snell's Clinical Neuroanatomy is good too. (I used both- they're perfect). Goodluck! |
Joanna Sedley: Even if you crammed your way through in pharmacology just re-visit it and try to understand it, it is the different between us and laymen; THAT SCIENTIFIC KNOWLEGDE.Cramming doesn't necessarily mean you don't understand. Passing examinations doesn't depend on whether you understood what you read, when you read it. And the hallmark of medicine is passing examinations. . Passing examinations totally depends on your ability to reproduce what you claim you understood. That is why some people- after understanding basically what they need to know- still need to cram. It is 'criminal' to say that just because I couldn't remember when it was required totally means I didn't understand. |
buzyguy: Am frm ondo state,300 nd above in uniuyo putme?am scared!Realizing it begins when you acknowledge it's possible. Marry your JAMB PQs well. Brush up rough areas. Strengthen your weaknesses- that's all. Medicine is competitive - esp now |
alutacontinua: We're doing path and pharm concurrently. I can still cope with pathology more than I'm coping with pharmacology. The 'voluminousness' is one problem on it's own, the cramming part is the major issue that I have. I just don't have the talent of cramming. Time to start the use of mnemonics. I cannot afford to be overcome by pharamcology.I hate cramming too. We have no choice but to try. I try to overcome the cramming loophole by early and repetitive reading. But its totally unavoidable |
alutacontinua: Nairaland is what keeps me sane after Pharmacology finishes dealing with me in the day. I must tell you, that course is driving me nutz. Dr. Lagusta, how did you read it? Had an impromptu quiz today and i'm sure I can't have up to 3/10.Do you guys do pharm and lab medicine concurrently?? Over here, we do pharm and lab medicine(pathology, microbiology, haematology and chemical pathology) concurrently with medicine, surgery and family medicine postings in 400level . I think lab medicine is more malignant than pharm. Too voluminous. |
buzyguy: Pls gr8t docs help me,i dnt anymor av the incentiv to writ oau putme due to mass pass in cbt it slims my chnce. i really want to chang my institutn, pls is uniuyo ok and recognised 4medical programme like mbbs? thks in advnce!UniUyo has full accreditation for mbbs. buzyguy: My score 245 ma,i dnt knw if may leav it 4oau245 is still very low for UniUyo. If you can score up 300 - 320 in post utme. You stand a slim chance. It's a risk worth taking, I must say. Meanwhile, what's your state of origin? |
m.esther96:OOU has got full accreditation for MBBS.Choice is yours ![]() |
labodinho: Helo Doc's,tanx to all for yur suggestion and advies on which course to choice for ma change.I'm now changing to pharmacology as majority carry the vote.I know you all can never lead me wrong that's the reason i'm here and i pray at the end of it all i shall come boldly to testify the great success...........I'm one of those that drop e-mail add,am so so sorry for that.It won't occur again. Thanks to all may God strengthen you all.opportunities abound for they that are open-minded.goodluck |
kemzy Ajaks: i've alwayz wanted medicine n still do i jst want 2 use to school of health 2 pass tym n also prepare me beta 4 medicine i kno i'm capable 4 school of health den use it 2 get a direct entry in2 medicine...(if possible) d@ way i tink i'd b more prepared 4 medicine (nt lyk i'm not dat capable for now oo) or wot do u think??School of Health is okay( like I've said before). If that's what you want. Use that time to develop yourself if you intend to come into medicine. It's one thing to enter medicine, it's another to stay in, and yet it's another to graduate. Good luck!! |
Saeed348: Gud Day Docz.Google |
kemzy Ajaks: oh, no......neva buh tnks anywayz 4 d advice....pls wot do u tink about schools of health??wld definitely follow ur advice...'Danke schon'Calm down. what do you want? medicine or school of health? How capable are you for any of them? School of Health is cool. They're a good way to utilize useful time. |
kemzy Ajaks: wow ur post z very inspirin.....i neva lost hop even nau d@ i scored 182......my worry is just wot 2 do 4 d mean tym...if i may ask wot were u doin durin dose long 8 yrs??what worked for A might not necessarily work for B. She was well above average - her problem was the unfair system. Now over to you - 182 is not an inspiring score. Not for medicine. That score is enough determinant for what you should do for the "mean time". Get a JAMB syllabus, past questions and a good textbook and read for the next one year. Work on your speed and accuracy by timing yourself when dealing with the PQs. Make sure you exhaust the syllabus. One year is more than enough time. And don't hope to spend 8 years at home. That's too much time. |
skimarvel: To all medical aspirant remenber dat mbbs is nt d only field in Medicine explore other option....There are other courses xo don't put ur eggs in one basketWhat other fields in medicine can one possibly explorE in Nigeria?? |

Amb Fitsaint: Okay.. SOrry for the late response.. The highest is still 300 or let me say 300 batch A cos dey ought to be in 400 dis semester if not for d NMDC stuff. That's still part one. I guess nothing like clinical class over there. Means you guys have a long way to go...your set might be lucky. Meanwhile' continue your OAU ish. A med school with 300 as rate limiting step shouldn't be totally depended upon. |
Amb Fitsaint: I thank God dat Eksu is even on strike.. My 2nd test comes up on d 21st.... I now have enuf time to prepare for my test as I bliv everything is going to work together for my good... At your age you cannot afford simple sanitary pad! I pity the placenta that bore you...its obvious this strain of stewpid thinking has a dense genetic predisposition. You are to be avoided totally.
