InyangO:quite true. But are schools of nursing over-populated already?? In an economy as diversed as Nigeria, wouldn't it make sense for school of nursing to be dergulated to provide options to Nigerians who may not afford government owned schools of nursing?take a cue from public and private universities. Which ones are more affordable?? Which ones could likely have the best of standards if improved upon? I don't want to raise a debate on that- but I think privately owned schools of nursing won't be fun for investors and the public at large. How many ajebotas would be willing to attend s.o.n sef? When the same amount of money can afford a private university- Or why should age be a barrier to someone who wants to study nursing in school of nursingreally ![]() whereas the case is not so for medical students in public universities?wetin concern medical students with school of nursing wahala?? Abi dem nor follow do nursing for public university?? And why should medicine be compared to nursing in this respect?? Does it mean at 25, which is age limit of being admitted into nigerian schools of nursing, ones brain is no longer active or is it that the youths can do better than adults brainwise 25 below?well- in my class, i've observed that the younger ones are better off in their grades than some relatively older ones who are tied down by family or business. I think the regulatory bodies need students who'd just concentrate on studies without being distracted by these things. When they fail, they become a burden to many. Not ruling out the fact that those advanced in age can't succeed in this wise- it's relatively rare. I'm just wondering why this age limit and hope some answers could be found from you reading this post.i've read the post and i haven't seen answers. Lol- |
LizyL:ok, I seeee. and i understand what u been by the quality of lecturers and what not but i also want a safe schoolmost shools, esp federal unis have very good security. The rest would depend on ur intuition and ur eyes too with a nice clean environment, and very nice accomodation, you gotta see for yourself. You can figure out the rest. can i get that at a federal or state uni?possibly |
#me@:@bolded SMH. Thank God i never made that choice. Berra off as a medic |
And Lizyl besides- whats your state of origin?? |
LizyL:i admire your faith I'm interested in private unisfine. Not many private unis are accredited for medicine over here. Their unstable accreditation status leaves one more confused. Heard of BINGHAM UNIVRERSITY?? Check it out after living abroad for 17 years and I have heard about strike and many scary things that go on in federal and state unis, strike happens, yes. But believe me- we have the best lecturers around. I wonder how many private universities can consistently maintain the calibre of lecturers (in medicine) a federal university does. Not ruling out the possibility though. Also I'm filling my jamb form and I'm condused about which schools to put as first and second choice Help me outwhat are those choices?? Bring them on Especially which schools accept medicine as second choice?i think university of calabar does. |
Vic-jay:medicine after death. Sha, its not over yet. You have to enquire from a jamb office nearest to you on a CHANGE OF COURSE card. It does the magic. You might spend an extra 3k tho' |

52 Corpers out of how many Mscheeeeew! When Total, Mobil and Agbami partners are giving scholarships to undergraduates in their hundreds. |
Shell, Stingy company. Up till now dem never pay. Mscheeeeeewww! |
boay:Court first. wAEC can do little or nothing to help you in this regard. Go to court and swear an affidavit that the person bearing ADE JOHN TOBI and ADE JOOHN T are one and the same person. Attach that affidavit to ur waec certificate. Whenever it is screened(for admission or otherwise), on seeing the affidavit, nobody will ask questions. We've resolved things like this on nairaland before and people came back testifying. Goodluck bro |
LizyL:Dont be carried away by IMED. Its not hard to get a school listed. I've read the procedures myself. And btw, I wont advice you to study medicine in a school with a diagnostically shaky accreditation status. Dont you have other choices We can help you iron the issues out.LizyL:Dont be carried away by IMED. Its not hard to get a school listed. I've read the procedures myself. Had admission in 2 universities to study this medicine- first and second choice. That was 3yrs back. Now the tide is changing. Nigerian Medical and Dental Council and NUC has recently been applying pressures on Universities to reduce the number of students admitted in the course. We were 77 that had admission in my set. This year only 40 was admitted. You see Second choice bet is losing its potency real fast. I'd advice that you put all your enthusiasm in getting your first choice. And make a first choice that'd give you higher chances of being admitted and make sure the school is accredited for medicine. Any school accredited for medicine in Nigeria has successfully satisfied the minimum requirements to make you a doctor worthy to stand the tide of medical practice anywhere in the world. |
I think Babcock University does. And ABTI-American university. Check your brochures |
sirkay09:i think you have imsu, unn, unical and ndu. Btw, you have your jamb brochure for that Am so much interested in the course and will like to know almost everything about it,you have google for that. Few clicks away Also i will like to know how they did run the programlike any other B.Sc program- 4 years then nysc because i don't know if its through Jamb.its through jamb o o o o. Nothing else. Unless the tide has turned. Please respond to this post.i just did |
University Of Uyo- Medicine and Surgery. |
Quote from Kadata *¤After screening- if you're successful, you'd be issued a slip called "Authority To Pay. This slip is very very very important. You must keep it safe and make as many photocopies as possible. Can I pause here to say that any piece of paper given to you by the University Of Uyo is very important- keep it safe. *¤while about to pay your school fees at the bank, you'd be asked for the Authority to Pay which you must present there. After presenting , you'd be authorized to pay your school fees. *¤go back to the Finance Officer in your Faculty and change it to receipt. ¤*if your Faculty Officer who screened you didn't issue you a Registration/Matric. Number after your screening , go back to him/her with your school fee receipt and ask for one. *¤once you get your registration number, you will find your way, won't you? |
Richiez:There is a serious difference between an engineer and a technician. A technician undergoes apprenticeship without any form of 'formal education' in d choosen field. Take electrical / electronic engineering for example, it's more than just joining wires. That's wat technicians do. But as an engineer, you deal more with evolving problem solving techniques, patterns etc and the design of equipments. That's why engineers do more of advanced mathematics and engineering drawings. That's why an electrical engineer chooses options in communication, instrumentation &control, and power. A technician doesn't have those choices. So mechanical engineers are more than road side mechanics. In fact, a mechanical engr. with a 2.2 can't be a roadside mechanic. There're prospects man! That said, you can understand why chemical engineering can't be done by apprenticeship. |
Why don't you go first, and come for me later. Pseeeeww! |
I smelled something fishy in this 'scholarship' all along. Think it's time to spread d news that it's fake. |
solomon201:I had the same problem when I applied yesterday evening. But i re-applied this morning , about 11a.m, and it was sent. ADVICE: Wait 4 24hrs, if nothing happens, you may consider re-applying in d morning. It's only a suggestion |
Richiez:Nice guess. The application of mech. engin. is a prosthetic <artificial> eye. Very interesting application of engineering in opthalmology. The second, which is d application of electrical engineering , is an MRI scan of the human head. It is used for diagnostic imaging. Another very interesting application.i.e diagnosis by pictures. Great uh ![]() U were actually correct about the conduction of impulses across nerves. There are two types==>> 1) by ions- which uses neurotransmitters like acetylcholine and 2) electrically which uses in differences in voltage to transmit nervous impulses. These processes can be induced artificially by the application of biophysics and electronic engineering respectively in medicine. Seriously, Nigeria has a long long long way to go in this regard. |
it's a nice field, buh nigeria is so limiting. . . .i dnt think there's any fed. University offering d course. Too bad. Richiez:***suprised*** ![]() |

lomaxx: Richiez:most engineering students hate biology with passion and also most medical students hate advanced mathematics with zeal. . . .but I am caught up in d middle. I love maths as d complexity ascends the scale as much as i enjoy studying d human body. I luv engineering as much as i luv human medicine. So , biomedical engineering was d best choice 4 me. It's just the application of the design and problem solving skills of engineering with medical science 2 improve healthcare diagnosis and treatment. Right now i'm studying medicine, but i'm seriously considering b.m.e. 4 postgraduate studies. |
