The worst terrorists are those who came from over 800 km away from the Niger delta but forcefully acquired more than 90% of crude oil wells in the Niger delta, pollute the environment, return to the north to build cleaner cities with oil wealth, and leave people of the Niger delta with little or no oil wells and destroyed habitat.

The real terrorists are those who sprinkled 20 new federating units (19 states+ Abuja) in the once one northern Nigeria federating unit, and use the 20 units to suck home to the north most of the proceeds from oil from the Niger delta, and use the consequent political over-representation from these new states to dictate to the rest of Nigeria.

Oil makes up only 13% of Nigeria's GDP but over 70% of government's revenue. With the right structures, It is not inconceivable not oil will someday be less relevant in national discourse. Also, with concerns over climate change, oil will become less relevant in the coming decades.

When that happens, the Niger Delta will still be polluted not just by the actions of the oil majors but by the stupidity of Niger Delta youths, who can not think of the consequences of their narrow sighted actions. Perhaps, they are seeking another amnesty programme.

The cleanup of Ogoni land is billed to begin in June. It will take 25-30 years to complete. The effects of these blown pipelines will be felt not by the rest of Nigeria but by the children of the vandals.

Why can't urban development in Port Harcourt or Warri or Yenagoa be like that in Abuja?

Has President Buhari ever done anything right in his lifetime, beginning from when he joined Nigerian Armed Forces without the right qualifications, to when he used tanks to shoot himself into power in 1983, up till the time he contested the last presidential election without requisite qualifications as prescribed by INEC and the constitution?

Goodluck Jonathan wanted to scamper away from the heat in Aso Rock, since he believed that sixteen years in government house was like being in a cage; that's why Buhari had the chance to contest.

An Olusegun Obasanjo in Jonathan's shoes could not have allowed Buhari to contest the last presidential elections.

President Muhammadu Buhari is currently in crucial meeting with the governors of Nigeria’s 36 states.

President Buhari in a meeting with Nigerian Governors’ Forum led by its Chairman, Gov. Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara State, at the State House.

The meeting inside the Council Chambers of the presidential villa in Abuja was started at exactly 2pm.

The majority of the state governors are in attendance while a few others were represented by their deputies.

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state, who is one of the main critics of the incumbent leader of the nation, is absent.

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo; Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun; and the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele are also in attendance.

President Buhari and other participants of the meeting are expected to discuss the economic crisis facing the country and the herdsmen attacks in parts of the country among other national issues.

The president has yesterday met with the officials of the World Bank over a possible loan or credit facility in recent months.

The country will have to borrow 1.8 trillion naira from abroad and at home to help fund the budget, which has been postponed by several months and wrangling with parliament, if it goes ahead.

Nigeria’s economy, the largest in Africa, grew by 2.8% last year, its slowest pace since 1999.
